The Heavenly House of Iram
The Turmoil Era
001 PI (Pre-Iram)-054 IA (Imperial Age) / Helius / Founding Warlord / Claiming direct descent from the Sun God, the warchief Helius dominated the surrounding tribes on the continent of Isyria through either passive annexation or bloody conquest until a new empire was founded with him at its head.
054-055 IA / Indrigus / Secondborn / After jealous generals exiled the strong-willed firstborn, Indrigus was placed on the throne as a puppet, only to be executed by his resurgent and vengeful brother.
055-096 IA / Ascelos / Firstborn / Following his exile and revolutionary return, Ascelos reigned as a powerful and beloved ruler, expanding Isyrian territory to include the neighboring realms of Falos and Tyria, as well as promoting domestic issues such as sanitation, public health, and justice, cementing his place in history as one of the greatest kings in the Iram dynasty.
097-098 IA / Ventus / Second cousin to Ascelos / With Ascelos having left no legitimate heir, Ventus (who acknowledged none except the direct descendants of Helius should rule) assumed the throne for a short period to hold the empire together while searching for a bastard to legitimize.
098-110 IA / Hylus / Elder bastard of Ascelos / The first illegitimate son of the great Ascelos, Hylus continued his father's military campaigns while further advancing the domestic innovations, renovating entire brick towns into shining marble cities before being struck by an arrow in combat, dying a few days after.
112-112 (January 23) IA / Inez / Wife of Hylus / The treacherous former concubine attempted to slay the direct descendants of Hylus and seize the throne for herself, only to create a prolonged siege of the capital, which inevitably resulted in her and her few supporters being personally and publicly executed by the new queen.
112-196 IA / Quelana / Firstborn / The beautiful daughter of Hylus, Quelana assumed the throne with the knowledge that Helius conquered with the image of a god protecting him, which she adopted and used to rule with an iron fist, stabilizing and elevating the Isyrian empire to a truly divine status.
The Divinity Era
196-244 IA / Amanus / Firstborn / Following in the example of his mother Quelana, Amanus set himself up as a true god, directing and promoting massive construction projects, not only for city expansion but also to erect massive temples in his honor, but otherwise led a peaceful empire through his reign.
244-315 IA / Marius / Thirdborn / Consolidating his power through the murder of his two elder siblings and the discovery of gunpowder, Marius rampaged and pillaged his way across the southern lands, undermining and assimilating the neighboring empire of Athros, but was killed in the northern campaign by one of the army's own blast traps after what came to be called the 70 Year War.
315-324 IA / Solara, Iminita & Tonatus / First, Second & Thirdborn (respectively) / Rather than butchering each other, the three formed the first Iram Triumvirate and ruled together, with sword-savvy Tonatus managing the wilder territories and military campaigns, Iminita handling diplomacy, and Solara maintaining the public morale and domestic affairs.
325-330 IA / Selarius / Firstborn (Solara) / It was agreed that Solara's child would be the first successor, and Selarius proved to be an adequate ruler, maintaining borders and managing the empire.
330-332 IA / Aresius / Firstborn (Iminita) / Iminita's spawn was put on the throne second, but was unsuccessful and promptly removed after only two years for attempting to break the peace brokered with the northern tribes.
332-350 IA / Silmaria / Firstborn (Tonatus) / Recognizing that the now elderly Triumvirate truly controlled the government, Silmaria assassinated all of her living predecessors before securing the throne and embarking on a 18 year long conquest of the north before finally retiring, something unknown before then.
350-400 IA / Historius / Secondborn / Following the clean, bloodless, and smooth transition between emperors, Historius inherited and maintained a massive superpower that dominated an entire continent.
The Decline Era
400-402 IA / Seronius / Elder twin / A dimwitted and weak ruler, Seronius was replaced soon after by his younger twin, and was killed in a public riot while he descended the palace steps.
402-410 IA / Serasias / Younger twin / Serasias inherited the throne following Seronius' forced retirement and managed to barely keep the empire together following his brother's disastrous reign.
410-412 IA / Ileria / Thirdborn / Jealous of her brother's position and powers, Ileria initiated a coup and ruled for two more years, brutally silencing dissenters and slowly descended into madness.
412-415 IA / Hiperios / Firstborn (Silmaria) / Despite having previously declined the throne, Hiperios stepped in to try and preserve the dying empire by murdering Ileria and assuming his birthright, though he was too late to stop the violent revolution (the same that led to his own beheading).
The Republic
In the year 415 of the Imperial Age, a large peasant army rose up and cast the Iram family out of the royal palace, which was promptly burned to the ground. This act began a new age, the Republic Era (years now marked with RE), also known by historians as the Thousand Year Union, with a congressional body of elected officials carried out the will of the Isyrian people. Conquest came to a close with nothing left to conquer, corruption was frequently hunted down and purged from the system, and peace was valued above all. And most importantly, the Iram dynasty became little more than a family of worthless nobility and empty curses. Until of course, the Isyrian Republic was struck by a sudden attack; raiders from across the sea, uprisings of indigenous cultures oppressed for generations, and even dissent among the Isyrian people. The long-stagnant military was unprepared for the sudden assaults and rebellions. The northern region seceded, forming the Gernanian Federation, which proved to be as much as thorn in the Republic's side as the northern tribes were for the empire. As the wars continued, the Iram family bided their time, slowly building up a new cache of wealth and private military strength, stealing and copying technologies used by the foreign attackers. The conflict and the Iram reinforcement continued slowly but surely for years, culminating after 500 more years of violence and chaos in one Iram storming the capitol building, backed by a private army and a horde of rioting citizens.
The Resurgent Era
In order to win the trust of the people, the Iram family had the people periodically elect a people's council, which voiced concerns and public demands, but otherwise the nation returned to being an empire, with the Iram family once more at the helm.
1915-1950 NI (Novo Imperii) / Zephyria Malius / Thirdborn/ The youngest child of an old and dying patriarch, Zephyria (against all advice) chose the period in time when the raiders (dubbed Piran by the Isyrians) had won several victories and were closing in on the capitol to stage her rebellion. Butchering the entire congress, she organized a vicious counterattack against the enemy, using the armies of mercenaries and militiamen behind her to fend and drive off the pirates, but neglected to attack the Gernani to the north in the following years of her reign.
1950-1994 NI / Aurum / Firstborn / Intent on maintaining a peaceful and prosperous empire, Aurum focused his efforts on sieging and conquering the Gernanian Federation, an effort with which he was successful, becoming the emperor who managed to reunite the Isyrian world (or what was known of it). With the Iram family once more ruling the lands that were rightfully theirs, Aurum became intent on his journey across the sea to gain revenge against the enemies of the state, the Piran, putting much effort into preparing the army for the journey and campaign.
1994-Present (2014) NI / Asterius Zephyr / Thirdborn / Asterius inherited the throne when he was only a boy of 6 years, the youngest of Aurum's children, who was specifically marked in the will as the next emperor. Though only a child, Aster proved to be an extremely capable and intelligent ruler and managed to conquer all the doubts and adversity placed before him. At 18, he set out to ensure that Isyria became a "modern" nation; While electricity had flowed through the people for centuries, and assault weapons had been developed years before even the Piran Raids, Asterius became convinced of a new age of technology, where people could wirelessly communicate through a device that could be implanted beneath the flesh as easily as one picks their nose and was only the size of a fingernail, or where a soldier could simply choose a target and blast them to pieces with tube that fired superheated plasma that they needn't even hold. After only a few years, and backed by research documented during the reigns of Aurum and Zephyria, Aster's dream was rapidly realized. With this new nation of light, Wi-Fi communication, and weapons of mass destruction, Asterius (deemed the "Sun King" and the reincarnation of Helius Iram by the truly devout) personally led his legions across the sea to face the Piran in a land dubbed Igipta, where Aster swiftly dominated vast swaths of land and is currently embroiled in a new war against an old enemy.
