Azaril (derived from Azerwal, meaning "pure") The name Azaril carries the essence of purity, clarity, and a sense of being untainted, which contrasts intriguingly with his enigmatic and dark persona.
Titles:
The Gloomrider (due to his tendency to leave during rainy days)
The Ironwind (due to the swiftness of his blades)
Stormborn (because he was born during a great storm)
Heir of the Gale valleys
Raincaller (for his ability to bring about rain)
Cloudshadow (elusive nature)
Noble name:
Driven by loss and curiosity. Azaril isn't known to stay quiet, his lips often shooting snarky remarks back at the slightest inconvenience. Unpleasant is sometimes used to describe him. Which many find unfortunate because when he drinks and succeeded on a quest, all of the tavern booms with laugher. Passerby's occasionally peaking through to see what could possibly be going on. Indeed, he is quite moody.
An occultist? A cowboy? A bounty hunter with a particular non-chalence that characterizes his interactions. Nothing really seems to impress him yet there always seems to be hues of inspiration and satisfaction behind his eyes.
The intimate know that Azaril is more than his moodiness and unpleasantries. For one, he is a well of forgiveness and giving second chances. Perhaps even to a fault. He doesn't keep a grudge once the axe is buried. He keeps things surface level to avoid real confrontation, and he has the back of those that grow on him.
Azaril has curly brown hair that swirls in the sky like waves of chocolates. His eyes are piercing and focused like that of a bird of prey. He wears kohl to protect his eyes from sun glare as he spends much of his time in the outdoors. His clothing consistent of a light armor, straps for his arrows and bow. He wears long leather boots up to his knees, leaving the impression that he is taller than actually is. He is particularly slender and part of his ear is missing.
Azaril was a mounted knight and through trials and tribulations became a ranger in the great vast lands of Gravia. He usually works with temples and local communities to bring about justice for the oppressed, or to further political plans that he deems worthy. Azaril is quite respected and influential in the affairs of trailblazing uncharted lands. In some land he is seen as a warden, for others a voyager, a vagabond, a criminal in his hey-days, but he always left some permanent good on his way.
See, Azaril's personal philsosophy comes from the injustices he's witness and lived. He believes that true justice comes redemption, not from strict rules. It's one of the main reason he is such an anarchist but respects order for the stability it provides. He believes in the tangible impact one leaves on the world. He is class conscious and well educated. His past as a knight and current role in expansionist interests reflect his commitment to both personal growth and the betterment of society.
Three principles dictate his behavior: that balance is always required, That superficial accolades is bullshit. And that humans are fallible and there is no need to be merciless.
He was born in a noble family that strived in excellence. He met all the criteria's and to this day, his achievements are recognized within the circle, but the family relationship is tainted with gossip, resentment and betrayal.
