So i keep getting an alert notification every time someone makes a character for adapt-ably available. I don't know how to turn it off. I looked in alert preferences but i couldn't find anything.

That is probably because of the preferences you may have chosen. In the 'preferences' link, there is a list of general alerts you may or may not want to have, such as watching categories you add characters to or watching albums that you create or when you comment. Look at that list and see if the first one I gave you an example of is checked or not checked. I think it may be checked and that might be why you're getting alerts every single time someone makes a character for adapt-ably available. (:
