As Wanda faded away more and more, a white light started to shine from behind her. She shook her head at Toffee. "That's not about him."

"That's about what's around him," said MIKE.

"He is wrapped in darkness. In despair. In malevolence."

"Whatever is done, it must be quick. It must be thorough."

"It must be--"

Wanda faded away, and the light enveloped all once again.

When the light abated, the group was now standing in a deserted city street under daylight. A quick look around made it clear it was a Japanese city of some kind, judging by the Japanese text present on signs and billboards.

Inexplicably, Marcus was missing, evidently lost between shifts.

"Another illusion?" Billy asked, turning to look down both ends of the street. In each direction were abandoned cars with not a soul in sight.

Klim had finally come conscious, his eyes opening as he took two stumbling steps away from Josephine. "This... isn't right. What year is it...?"

When the insects began regrouping, Shen unsheathed his steel saber. He was slightly annoyed at how careless The Batter had been; he had left without checking to see if the threat was eliminated. His weapon would have proved to be very effective... if he used it properly.

Since he was wearing protective armor, Shen decided that he should defend his more-vulnerable allies. He wouldn't mind their help, however. In fact, he told them, "If you have a weapon... use it." There was no doubt that some of the insects would slip past him and toward his allies.

He briskly walked forward and began slashing at the insects.

"N-No..." Klim shook his head. "No, I don't. It's just-- I shouldn't be here."

The man whipped his head around. "Phi?! Akane! Anyone?!"

Klim took a few steps down the road in panic, stopping short as he looked at the bleak road ahead. He shook his head in defeat, looking like he'd taken a blow to the gut.

Meanwhile, a lone figure was approaching from the opposite direction. He appeared to be a man in a dark cloak with a rifle strapped to his back. He had spotted the group but was not turning away.

For extra precaution, Phil hit his jacket against an area without spiders to get them off his blazer. Once he was certain they were off, only then would he put his blazer back on. He really hate those fuckers and he looked at Owen and nodded. He drew Saeko's sword after his blazer was spider-free and swung the sword at the group of them in the cabinet. He assumed that they were guarding something. When the Batter arrived with a flamethrower. " It might be a good idea to make those spiders burn," Phil said to the batter. There was a ton of malice in his voice, almost as he wanted those spiders to rot in the coldest corner of Hell.

The old woman took a few steps back so the others could see the entrance. It was clear something had gone wrong, for now, some kind of substance coated the exit door. It didn't look possible to open now, meaning no one could go back.

Noot Noot, having gone back to the previous group, began to hop up and down. When the others looked, they would see that he was stomping on an insect horde that was gathering around their feet.

Phil arrived in time to take out the final bug, proving that they probably weren't as dangerous as they appeared. A crashing noise could be heard from the floor above, causing Owen to look up in worry. "There's some bullshit going on upstairs," he said quietly.

He looked around, spotting a nearby metal cabinet and a lawnmower. He made a move for it. "There might be stuff in these shelves we can use-- Agh!!"

Owen fell backward as a horde of spiders burst forth from the cabinet, latching on to him and crawling all over him. The boy screamed in fear as he tried to ineffectually swat at them.

"Do you... want your gun back?" Bullet asked, but considering the situation, Bullet wasn't sure if she wanted to even hand it back.

"Come on now..." whispered the woman from somewhere above. "We're going to settle this, dears."

Bullet searched for a sound with Klein while Teddy continued his search of the shelves. "A medical kit...?" he whispered, finding some kind of herbal medicine set. The contents seemed largely empty, but there was a guide book on herbs that could be made into medicine.

Mrs. Baker went silent for a time. All that could be heard was a strange gasping noise, accompanied by a wet smacking sound...

Fate or not fate, Wanda had little to say to Toffee.

Suddenly, Wanda began to fade in and out, as if she was disappearing from existence. She nodded her head resolutely.

"It's almost time for me to go. There's one last thing I am capable of explaining. The girl who has me in her grasp, her name is Eveline. Perhaps she is still just a lonely girl at heart, for those in her grasp become a part of her family. It's everything to her, and she is constantly looking for more to add. That is why I..." The witch looked away, a pained look on her face. "I know you have faced illusions. That is my power. The other me, like Eveline, values family. That's what these illusions are, a demented desire to give one the perfect family."

Billy nodded, understanding. "If one could control you, it wouldn't be impossible."

"But my mind is fractured, and so are these illusions. When they break, they are prone to conjure unhappy illusions instead. You must be very careful, for in the dark place... illusion can be made real."

"It's too heavy and your name is Bullet, not mine." Klein said as he kept moving forward. "If I were to take it back-" The woman chose to spoke up at that moment and Klein looked around before continuing on. "Actually, give me that." Klein said as he snatched the gun a blew holes clean into the ceiling, making a line straight above the pair. He was giving himself some vision of the floor/level above where the lady hid and trying his luck to see if he would hit her. When the gun didn't seem to want to shoot he handed it back to Bullet. "Swing it." He said before she could comment on its usefulness.

Klein then stopped when he heard the smacking. It could be water damage or it could be the woman, the gasping noise was certainly her own bloodlust as she was stalked them somehow, most likely the cracks of the old building. "Bullet, keep an eye out for the cracks and crevices of this place. That's how she sees us most likely." Klein kept an eye for this too, trying to see if he could spot the woman.

 
The Batter looks at the spiders.They seemed to be guarding the cabinet....the reason why was unknown to him. He didn't have time to think about that. He need exterminate them. He points his flamethrower at the cabinet. He then pulls the trigger and releases the flames onto the cabinet.

Phil had told the batter to spry the spiders, but he hadn't expected the man to spray it with them in front of it and attacking. He grabbed Owen's arm and using his strength, he pulled the boy back so that neither of them could be caught in the flames. Fire wouldn't help their hp stay in the green.

The insects seemed to carry the intent to threaten the group as if being controlled by something or someone. Groups of them were crushed by Shen's attack, though the survivors leaped off the walls to crawl on the group. Whatever kind of insect they happened to be, they bit with ferocious intensity, enough for Lucas to apparently count the attacks as hits to everyone's HP.

Noot Noot stomped with all his might, while Agatha retreated further. The penguin crowded around Six to spare the girl the most discomfort.

Soon, eventually, the insect horde seemed to be thinning, but it was not enough to fend them off entirely. They would probably keep coming as long as their master remained alive to control them.

With Phil's help, Owen quickly backed off as The Batter let loose on the spiders. The fire truly routed them, virtually cleaning the cabinet of their presence.

The metal was still hot to touch, so Owen opened the cabinet doors fully with his ice pick, observing inside the various items. There was fuel, which could likely be fashioned into further ammunition for the flamethrower, as well as a pair of garden shears.

On the bottom shelf was a nearly empty box of shotgun shells. It looked mostly cleaned out, but there was enough to give the shotgun in Nono's possession one extra shot.

Here, the floor had mostly given out, giving the group a view of the floor below. Various dead plants were all that remained of the garden. The voices of those on the floor below could be heard, as well as those strange noises...

Bullet looked up and gasped at the sight.

Some kind of strange mass that seemed connected to Mrs. Baker's stomach was attacked the wall. The woman groaned as various insects dropped out of the mass.

"Is she... birthing insects?" Bullet said incredulously. She tried not to retch. "Shit!"

The figure approached the group, coming close enough eventually to get a good look at them. His body language suggested surprise at seeing one of them, but it was hard to discern what he was thinking with a hood around his head obscuring his face.

The man suddenly leaped toward Saeko as if he was preparing to attack, but instead, he reached out and took her by the hand with surprising speed. He gripped it tightly, squeezing it. He didn't speak a word as he waited for the girl to react.

Phil looked over at the items. There was fuel for the flamethrower along with ammo, though none would be good for his gun. He used his hanky when he went to grab the garden shears to prevent burning. He would have used his blazer, but he didn't want to run a risk of the bugs being there. He wondered what he could use these for. " Would any of you take the garden shears?" He asked. If nobody took the offer, he would keep them.

The Batter watched as the flaming spiders that were on the cabinet, quickly burn into a crisp. The Batter then looks the cabinet and see the fuel. 'This might come in handy' The Batter thought to himself. The Batter then grabs the fuel and puts it in his pocket. His attention then went to the Garden shears... He then smiles. " I'll take them.... but let me know if you might need them later." The Batter then walks toward Phil and takes the shears. "Thanks."

"It would appear so." Klein said casually as he chucked one of his dirks at the side of the woman's head as she was occupied. He guessed they could always run from the insects, but not the woman, so she was higher on his priority list.

Phil was hoping that somebody wouldn't want them, but he looked at him. " I will inform you of such, you're welcome," he replied. If the Batter died, well, he could always take them back. He looked around to see if there was anything else or the only option was upstairs.

Owen glanced to the side, his gaze following a noise from above. Feeling brave, he stepped out through a broken doorway, coming to a large room at the back of the greenhouse. He heard Bullet saying something above and he glanced toward a ladder that led to the second floor.

"We should help them," he said, making his way for it. He was only halfway up when a bloodcurdling scream scared him and he fell off the ladder, dropping to the ground below.

The woman screamed as the knife dug into the side of her head. She detached herself from the wall and crawled along it like she was some kind of spider. Bullet tried to watch her movements, but the woman was surprisingly quick on all fours. She disappeared back above the greenhouse, leaving Bullet unsure what to do.

Teddy came in from the other room, stuffing the medical pamphlet he found in his pocket. "Couldn't find anything useful," he muttered.

The woman could be heard just above them then. Bullet was ready to swing at any sneaky hands, but Mrs. Baker did something surprising. She leapt down right from the ceiling, crashing through and sending Bullet flying as the woman impacted her.

Phil watched Owen catiously and saw that he was focusing on the noise above them. It sounded like they could hear the people above them. Ugh, he really didn't want to encounter Mother, but he had a feeling if he didn't go, those idiots would get themselves killed by something.

He really liked it more when the kid was cowering in the corner, but he seemed to be wanting to help. Phil, following him attempted to catch him when he fell. Regardless if he was successful or not he would sigh. If he was successful, he would place Owen down rather quickly. " You need to be more careful. You're going to get yourself killed."

"Now Morikubo has two shots, but they still must be used wisely," Nono says as she picked the shot up.

"Morikubo needs to find Kyoko soon," Nono says, "Morikubo won't be able to forgive herself if Kyoko perishes before we get there... Morikubo promised Kyoko that we would look at each others backs... but that promise isn't ready to be broken..."

Just then, Nono heard a bloodcurdling scream.

"EEEEEKK! Wait, that could've involved Kyoko. We have no time to waste. Everyone, let's move out! NOW!"

Nono, armed with shotgun, heads for the direction of the scream.

When Owen fell and Phil caught him, Nono screeched at first, then raised a thumbs up. "Nice catch... probably... let's continue..."

"Tch!"

Kyoko instinctively stepped back when the woman let out an almost blood-curdling scream as she was attacked. Her legs were nearly petrified in place at the sight of her crawling all over the walls like a giant spider, before she disappeared into the darkness, evidently not able to fight back against them any longer. And that was probably for the best, at least for now.

That was, until she suddenly appeared again, crashing through the ceiling and assaulting Bullet. Holding the crowbar tightly in both of her hands now, Kyoko attempted to maneuver behind the woman and swing the crowbar as swiftly as she could toward the back of her head! Leon Kuwata she was not, but she hoped she was at least able to pack a mean swing with a weapon like this.

Klein's eyes showed nothing, but fury. He watched as Bullet was tossed aside and crouched down to catch her. He then stood and held his hand forward like a claw and held his blade down at his side. He was gonna slice that bitch in two for touching Bullet. "Come out, come out, I gotta shave off the other side, don't want an uneven look..." Klein said, his voice strained as he held back the rage. Had Bullet been able to see it, she would have stood nowhere near Klein, but his shadow grew in height, consuming the hallway. Its body fluctuated with Klein's anger and desire to kill.

Klein then stood and jumped up while the woman had gone below. He latched onto the hole the woman went through and pulled himself up. He then waited for her to show again, so he could surprise her and get that second knife in her head.

The city she found herself in... It couldn't be Tokonosu City. The city was quiet. A result of the recent plague that had spread.

"I... is this home?" She said. "We need to head inside as quietly as possible." She said to the group. Even if it was abandoned now, "They" could be nearby.

If Saeko had been armed, she would have attacked. But the way this figure moved, it didn't seem to mean her harm. However, this was post-apocalypse, and Saeko had to be careful. Then, the rifleman grabbed her. What a time to be caught unarmed. She attempted to pull away.
