In order to use it, however, he must make extended eye contact with the victim, with a minimum of five seconds needed for it to fully take effect. It can last for up to 12 hours afterwards for unprotected magi, middling around 5-6 hours for unprotected fae and merfolk. It can only last for an hour at most for were and darklings.

Rosary Thanatos Blacke, named Rose Thana Blacke at birth, realized quite early in his life that he did not feel right in the identity his parents had given to him. With little consequence, being one of the less important siblings near the throne, with seemingly no desire to fight for a well-respected moment in the spotlight, he transitioned quietly, changing his name to Rosary Thanatos Blacke. He has no important contributions to speak of, mostly having spent his life entertaining guests at the palace and sometimes secretly feeding info to desperate fae, merfolk and the like due to his whims.

HISTORY
Zuleika once lived in a tiny village of only 50 or so Were, with her doting mother and father. They had been farmers, happy to be together and proud to work their land. When the war rolled around, her entire village was razed to the ground, an act of violence that destroyed her family. Both of her parents sustained massive injuries, dying even under the treatment of a kind redblood vampir, one that seemed to care about the non-combattant Weres that were being targeted. This doctor, Feivel Pike, was the one to amputate Zuleika's unsalveageable toes and nurse her back to health after she suffered catastrophic injuries to the chest. What ensued was a beautiful, loving relationship, one that lead Zuleika to the palace to work and be with Feivel, and later, with their adoptive daughter, Clarice.

EXTRA
  • She sometimes paints her cane to make it look prettier but she is awful at art so it looks very abstract and sloppy at best, but that never stops her.
  • Zuleika often refers to Feivel as Feifei, honeybun/honeybunny, sweetheart, pumpkin, darling, cupcake, sweetums and every other embarrassing term of endearment on the planet. She will not stop talking about him.

HISTORY
Vikal Pui's family has been plagued by the land that it has inhabited for generations. The waste city of Oria and its pollution lead to their many ailments, landing the majority of his family in the ground before getting anywhere near prospering. His father died of illness when he was young and his mother followed only a few years afterwards, leading to Vikal turning to gangs for protection. Being the compulsive liar and little shit that he always was, he netted various punishments, the worst leading to the burning of his face, chest and arms. He is more of a lone wolf now, having found ways to keep himself alive without relying on the mob, but he still gets into trouble now and again.

EXTRA
  • Vikal has a slight obsession with trying to appear masculine and tough despite being a shortstack and a bag of bones. His posturing has gotten him a few black eyes.
  • His tail is ink black and barely shimmery, disappearing from sight in the darkened sea almost instantly.

Yamilet grew up in Merrow, to parents who immigrated from Sesozapa. Though loving, her family was very no-nonsense and emphasized how important it was to be an upstanding citizen, to be the model immigrant and set a good example for the rabble outside of their doors. Yamilet took this to heart and worked hard to be a proper older sister for her two younger siblings, both sisters. All three of them ended up joining the military, though Yami is the one who has made it the furthest up the rungs, being one of the overseeing officers of Merrow representing the military.

EXTRA
  • Yami wakes up at 4 AM every single day and ensures that she is in bed by 8 PM, like clockwork. She doesn't need an alarm, it just happens.

Willow was a child born from one of his mothers and a sperm donor, growing up in a loving family home. Though he was a happy child, he was frequently lonely, mostly thought of as weird, loud and way too hyper for other children. He was awkward throughout all of his schooling, only really coming into his own in university, studying theatre and literature. He still has difficulty trying to make lasting friendships and finding people that will like him for who he is, but he's more comfortable in his skin now and is making a decent living off of his work.

EXTRA
  • Willow loves silly little games on his stupid phone. He spends too much money on dumbass gacha games. Also he has an insane amount of DnD related apps and 200 tabs open at any given time.

HISTORY
Xiaoran's story is one of moderate success and going where the wind took them. Originally the product of an affair between an upperclass vampir and a sex worker naga, their fate in childhood had seemed sealed. Upon their birth, Xiaoran was left at a sarpa orphanage/family house, where they grew up for the majority of their childhood. Though those in charge tried their best to make every child feel loved, there were simply too many children to tend to. Some had to fall through the cracks. In truth, Xiaoran never felt much resentment for this, simply becoming more palatable, more well-behaved, more of a pretty decoration. Why cause a scene?

Upon their entry into the adult world, they eventually entered SAP, not being able to find much work on their own. Somehow though, through a twist of fate, they managed to secure a high class position as the assistant to January. Proven to be efficient and well-trained, Xiaoran continues their work and enjoys a certain level of luxury now despite their humble beginnings, though they still struggle to figure out what they even want from life, a strange ennui settling in the pit of their stomach.

EXTRA
  • Xiaoran has beautiful handwriting. They like to doodle in the margins of their notes sometimes and they have some talent in art.

HISTORY (TW: SUICIDE/DEATH)
Tenet was born the middle child out of five. It was a busy household, always bustling with activity. He never really stood out, being one of the kids that kept more to himself. His parents owned multiple orchards in Greenwich, making a decent sum living and almost all of his siblings went into farming, Tenet included. He took over the peach orchard as soon as he was out of high school, figuring out things as he went. Two years into it, he met Tanya, another fae, who had moved into Greenwich temporarily for research. Their love story was short and sweet, culminating in their marriage only a few years later and the subsequent birth of their two daughters.

Unfortunately for Tenet, things would not remain so idyllic. Three years after Daisy was born, Tanya was found dead in their shared closet, shot in the head. Authorities claimed it was a suicide, since there was a note left behind, but Tenet never believed them. To this day, he believes that someone murdered her, but no one seems to care outside of his family.

EXTRA
  • His eldest daughter, Dawn (10), loves wearing a plastic jack-o-lantern on her head. It used to be a real one that was swapped out often, but it was heavy and every time it began to rot, she would be depressed for days. His youngest daughter, Daisy (6), always seems to be wearing a flower crown (a fake one in the winter.)

HISTORY
Mercy grew up as the younger brother of Magdalene. Their four parents were in a loving polycule, tending to both children with the utmost care. The war was hard on their village and their livelihoods. The Aranai family had specialized in blacksmithing and while Mercy had wished to follow in his parents footsteps, their skills had been so sought after for the war efforts that they'd been scooped up into the war before he'd been able to learn the trade. The family was separated, his parents being whisked off to different fronts of the battles, while Mercy and Magdalene were tossed from place to place under servant contracts for being made orphans.

During one of their years working for an upperclass vampir family, he was assaulted by one of them for a small mistake and left on the floor after a brutal feeding session, his wings torn nearly to shreds. Magdalene attempted to nurse him back to health during that time, while doing both her work and his while he rested. The damage was so extreme that he was bedridden for days. His wings became infected, leading to the need to amputate them.

Eventually, they were made to work indefinitely at the palace. Mercy had clung to Magdalene for all of his childhood and younger years, but began to hold his own then, finding solace in taking the path of the least resistance. Dissociation became his way of living through his circumstances and he kept himself out of trouble. When Magdalene fell for Nasir, Mercy had initially been skeptical, but his skepticism soon became nothing but love and support, only wanting the best for his sister. The attack on her and Nasir nearly crippled him emotionally, but her death after the birth of his nephew, Aria, was the last straw.

Now, Mercy is prepared to lose anything with a smile on his face.

EXTRA

HISTORY
Though the doctors could not quite tell Anzhelika's gender from birth, his parents quickly chose one for him, as they had done and continued to attempt to do for the rest of his life. Anzha was raised as young Miss Anzhelika, nicknamed (usually without any affection) Anzha, Iya and Ika by various members of his family. A shitkicker from birth, Anzha generally refused to adhere to the standards set for him by his parents and despite their various attempts to punish him, ranging from physical abuse to emotional, nothing ever seemed to stick.

Thankfully for his parents, they finally managed to add two younger siblings to their array of children, already insistent on assuring that Anzha was not the heir of their old money. Velvet will tell you she changed her name because who the fuck basically names their child Virgin of Innocent? She ain't nothing close to either of those terms. Born dirt poor to a single mom due to a runaway father, Velvet spent her childhood parenting her inconsolable mother. When she couldn't put food on the table, Vel handled it in less than legal ways. Vel failed a couple years of high school, being held back. Up until the end of high school at least, when her mother married a rich man. Vel's stepdad was fine and all, mafia ties aside, but her mom clung to him without a care in the world, eager for the lifelong meal ticket. Finally getting her GED, she hopped around with the new money she'd suddenly found herself having, but her stepdad eventually insisted that she stop fucking around.

Of course, this led to a full blowout with her parents, though Velvet eventually agreed, so long as the ride through college was fully paid by anyone but her, which led to her enrolment in a degree in business. She's failed a couple classes, but her stepdad's generous donations to the school keep her enrolled.

She still pickpockets and steals, but mostly for her own amusement now, though it's never really anything all that big that she takes.

Eun-ji's parents, though moderately supportive of him now, spent a lot of his life at odds with him. Born in Seoul, SK, to parents that were a school principal and a lawyer respectively, they expected him to follow the same academic path as them. Unfortunately, Eun-ji never excelled in school and though he passed secondary, he failed entrance exams multiple times when attempting to make it into post-secondary to study engineering. His older sister, a shining star of a student, got in first try, on her way to becoming a nurse while Eun-ji remained stagnant. He turned to video game streaming, something he'd always been interested in doing, eventually becoming good enough to get picked up for an FPS team.

His parents fought with him when he stopped applying to college, but he would hear none of it, making good enough money streaming, eventually moving to Hallen, where his team was located. When he eventually lost the finals, his team placing second in the international championships, he retired from competitive play and started to focus solely on streaming, cosplay and vlogging.

  • Growing up, Eun-ji's favourite game was Sonic, because his first crush ever was Shadow the Hedgehog.

HISTORY
Maharani was born to a mother from the Eastern Empire and a father from the African Empire. Their love had brought them to Northern Cervia in time, but upon realizing that her mother's beloved filipino cuisine was basically non-existent and unheard of in Rosé Town, Blessed Bibingka was born. Born in sunny Aeaea, Koa grew up used to sticking to the shadows. His vampir parents never had enough money to afford sunlight rings, having accrued massive debt through means that Koa had yet to understand, thus all of them typically lived their lives in the night, venturing out during the day only if necessary with parasols and the like. As a teenager, Koa managed to find work as a jeweller's assistant, though his main job was simply to sweep and dust the shop. Still, he learned all that he could from his boss, using the funds that he gained to support his family. When that wasn't enough, he took up sex work, since it was easy to find clients in the evenings.

One of his clients, a wealthy noble that he'd thought liked him well enough, impregnated him. Koa refused to get an abortion, drawing the ire of the man. Despite his power, he still cared for Koa, thus he offered him a solution in order to ease his conscience and maintain his reputation: take hush money, for both his parent's debts and for himself and leave for Northern Cervia. Koa agreed, though his parents refused, leading to them falling out, since they too, wanted him to get rid of the child, since it had not come from love.

In the end, Koa left on his own, birthing his child, Hanalei Iosua, in Berwyn Harbour. He started his own small jewellery store with the hush money, starting a new life for himself. He has never looked back.

Euclea was once a proud member of the Doxapatres family in Novus City, the owners of a multi-million dollar pharmaceutical company. She had been louder, more egotistic and seeking power as a young woman, wanting nothing more than to exert her status over others. She sought followers more than friends, people to do her bidding. After all, they'd bend under the weight of her family's money in the end, yes? She flaunted herself over the years, easily ascending the ranks of her parent's company, eventually catching the eye of one of their major shareholders, Ovidius Eugene Claremont.

Her father had been his friend for many years, since business school, so it only made sense that when he moved to claim Euclea, she bragged about it everyone she knew. She fawned over him despite his violent tendencies, clapping when he struck interns or encouraging him when he undercut allies. She followed in his aged footsteps, becoming equally unhinged and deeply selfish, more so than she'd always been. When they finally married, she could not have been happier.

But things changed when Ovidius owned her. A pretty trophy of a redblood, she was relegated to the role of housewife, stripped of her position in the family company, her shares absorbed into Ovidius'. He treated her as a doll to be displayed, forcing to her remain at home and only leave when wrapped around his arm as the perfect decoration. He forced himself on her, time and time again, in order to ensure that he had redblood children to continue his bloodline, but she was never able to become pregnant. His torture became worse when she was found to be infertile, leading to the final days of her confinement, where she was bound and burned with holy water.

During her attempt at an escape, Ovidius caught her. With her ferrokinesis, during the ensuing confrontation, she murdered him with a silver blade that she'd hidden away. She stabbed him 43 times, which was reported on repeatedly when his body was found and hers was missing. She hid away on a train, bleeding and dazed. When she awoke, she was in Merrow. Her parents continue to seek justice for the murder she committed.

HISTORY
The Gloss sisters were born to criminal parents in Merrow. Though their parents had been caught for their robbery work and embezzlement, thus why they had been forced to live in Merrow in the first place, they did not change their ways. Philomena and Imogen were always swept up in their schemes, forced to participate. Philomena had always been the type to kick up a fuss though, ruining things time and time again for their parents, but their revenge came swiftly enough. As young teenagers, their parents gathered the ire of a powerful magi, who in turn, cast a curse upon their family, that they would be stuck together until the end of time, unable to find a moment of peace ever again.

Philomena and Imogen were the sole recipients of the curse. Their parents had prepared curse wards beforehand, sensing that retribution was heading their way, thus began the sister's cursed lives, intertwined forever. They could no longer go more than 10 feet away from each other without experiencing extreme physical pain, their vision blurring and muscles tearing from exertion.

The two of them, now dependent on each other, fled their parents as teenagers, though they only managed to find housing in another part of Merrow. Now, the two of them rely on hacking to make their living.

HISTORY
Born in Sayby Falls as the middle child between a shut in, neurotic older sister and a soon to be born nonverbal younger brother, Ariam was homeschooled for the majority of his childhood. Most of his days were spent with one of his fathers, who remained a stay at home father whilst his other father worked for a local construction company. Ariam spent precious little time with children outside of his siblings, acting as more responsible in the trio and taking over when their father needed a break from parenting. His childhood was over far too soon. It was only in high school that he shifted to the public education system, what with both of his fathers now needing to work. He only felt like holding his hands around his sibling's throats sometimes. He held them tenderly and never acted upon it.

It was there that he learned of his love of art, spending countless hours after school in the optional drop in art program. It was there that he began to branch out of learning because of it being an obligation to his father, but because he loved it. The outside world was a joy to experience.

The first signs of a crack came when he nearly strangled another student for destroying his classmate's painting. His parents cried at their failure to raise any of their three children into functioning cogs in society, what with his sister refusing to leave the house, his little brother barely being capable of prolonged verbal speech and now Ariam enacting violence upon others. It was then that Ariam realized that he needed to be fixed. He pushed his thoughts down deep, becoming a model student, albeit a silent one.

In time after his graduation, he became involved in a project to open a museum in Sayby, where he eventually became head historian and curator.
