My favorite settings are fantasy combined with something else, multiverse, post-apoc, historical (mixed with something else), and futuristic. I'm not limited to those, but it's a good start.
My favorite genres include mystery, adventure, action, drama, tragedy (must be mixed with something else and kept balanced), romance (again must be mixed, and more.
I'm happy to include elements of slice-of-life and romance, but doing them on their own doesn't hold my interest indefinitely.

But in its own way, beautiful. Alternatively, a strange cat starts bothering a character and ends up becoming a plot hook.

Well even if it didn't, it would be out of place for an RP set in an 18th century royal set centered on court intrigue. Or would it be a major plot point.
Also, I can't kill everyone since I can't kill other peoples characters or would I want to.

Well no one has a child character, and rarely are children allowed at court unless they are children of the royal family which currently isn't possible.
