Hi there.
(It's Lepidoptera.)

Basically, this is where I'll be posting characters I'd like to RP in some setting or another, and plots/rulesets/etc.
Please don't post here, but do feel free to IM me about anything, or steal any code you find useful!
Let's get stronger together!

Characters + Short Synopsis:

Miriam, who drifts from day to day, and would like...

Settings + Short Synopsis:

Fear Humanity, a medieval horror RPG where you play the monsters!
Only, the real monsters were the friends humans we met along the way!

You aren't alone, you know.
You're never alone.

  • Name: Miriam. Surname depends on where she ends up.

Age: 16-27 years old. Naturally, there are times when she's older or younger, but...

    Sex: Female.

Appearance: Miriam is a reserved young woman. She's a bit taller than average, maybe 5'8, but not remarkable. She doesn't weigh too much or too little, doesn't particularly stand out, or make an effort to stand out, and easily melts into a crowd when you stop paying attention to her. Her eyes are just shy of grey, and constantly focus on this or that with an energy that doesn't quite match up to the rest of her, and contrasts to the almost grey-white colour of her hair. (Due to stress, she says; it's not stress.)

She's been sickly for a long time, and only just started to kick it; so if you actually spend time with her, you start to notice it in how she dresses. She favours unflattering, somewhat baggy clothing, and it falls around her - not because she's hiding something, necessarily, but because she's not used to walking around so much. Most notably, she has a (very) slight limp; she claims it's because of clubfoot (it isn't clubfoot) affecting her right leg, and left untreated.

For people who tend to spend time with her, what stands out most are her passions. She smiles brightly, because she doesn't smile often. She mirrors the enthusiasm of those she's with, no matter how depressed they feel. It'd be easy to assume that if you only knew her through such moments that you'd think of her as an incredibly bright person, in contrast to her reserved, somewhat traditional-seeming appearance. But...

  • Personality: Miriam has trouble feeling much of anything. She knows that shouldn't be right, but so it goes. She has trouble even feeling ennui with it all, and often wonders why that is. She's not a particularly immoral person, either; she's disgusted by the idea that someone should have to feel to try to do the right thing. (Though her idea of the right thing isn't always, well - right, and she knows as much.)

Fleeting pleasures, those are real and tangible so they're good. But even books only last for so long, so they're - unreal. And they help less and less, and she isn't sure why that is. She spent an incredible amount of time viewing them as her only companions, so to suddenly feel as if she's lost contact with them, is...

She likes playing games with people, and messing with them. Encouraging them when they're down, competing with them, generally being a person other people can look up to. But the more people depend on her, respect her, or like her, the less she feels comfortable around them - until she finds some excuse to drift away, and does.

Which is another thing that confuses her - the world is...
    Confusing...

    History: It's a secret.

  • Campaigns: She'd fit right into a certain kind of Modern, Anime, Horror, or Sci-Fi campaign, but - only a very specific kind. She's not a hero, won't ever get some sort of special power, and is more of an observer than a doer, though she does - very quietly - try to leave her mark on things. And she's easily the most melancholic character I'll probably right here, but she isn't sad, exactly. She can be spacey, and dry-humoured, and funny.

She likes - genuinely - likes helping people, but always tries to remove herself and move on when she has, even if she knows that'll make things worse. Because being around happy people - it makes her feel fake. Unreal. She isn't sure of the word for it, if there's even a word. Maybe she's jealous, she'd say - but she wouldn't mean even that, and just...

Power doesn't really impress her. She can be ambitious, but once she's achieved something, is there any reason to keep striving for it? And sometimes she just wants to lay under all the letters she's written, like a blanket, and smell like paper.

But in the end, she... Who knows.
Again, I don't even know if there truly exists the kind of campaign she'd fit in best. Mmn...

  • Extra: Long skirts, lace-up boots, winter jackets in summer. Really crappy herbal tea that doesn't help and she knows it doesn't help. Fake things. Smiling because she saw someone else smile. Long periods of time, spent doing nothing, even when she knows that consciously, she's taking care of some kind of business.

Regrets, but no regrets in particular.

    Tentative faceclaim:

Fear Humanity

  • Many stories tell of a heroic folk, fighting against an evil that has fallen against the world like a hanging blade.

    This is not that story.

It is the year 783 by human count, and humanity has devoured the world.
The age of magical possibility has dwindled and died, with no real struggle, but a whimper. Gone are the tree-folk and their songs of the bygone age, if they ever truly sang. And amidst the hills and deep places, rumours say that the organic palaces and estates of the mountain kinsmen have long since receded into beautiful rubble.

Still, there are some uncharted corners of the world, but that map is dwindling - and as time passes, there will soon be nothing left.
Humanity stands triumphant, and the question you, as a non-human, faces is not 'how will we have our revenge' -

    But how will we survive?[tab=Rules]
