The sphinxian's home world is an Earth-class planet in a sector of space known as The Forbidden Zone, called that because each planet in this sector is deemed a no-fly zone due to the dangers each planet possesses. In the case of the Sphinxians, their home world is called Gaea, a world that's covered in dense jungle and home to many dangers such as dinosaur-like creatures, man-eating plants, gigantic insects, birds of prey, and even other tribes of Sphixnans, but in today's log, we'll focus mostly on the Sphixians themselves.
First, what are Sphixians?
Introduction:
Sphinxians are the predominate species of Gaea, they are a race of humanoids that resembles lions on Earth. As such, all Sphixnans have superhuman strength, agility, speed, sharper vision, hearing, and sense of smell in addition to claw-like hands, feet, and razor-sharp fang-like teeth. While they are primitive, they are intelligent. Sphinxians live in groups or colonies that mirror the pride of lions, as such their society is very matriarchal with very few males in each Pride. Female Sphinxians are faster, and more agile while Male Sphinxians are bigger, stronger, bulkier, and almost hulk-like by comparison, but males are also much slower and less intelligent than females so as a result they tend to act as vanguards while females do most of the hunting, everyone in a tribe of Sphinxians has a very specific role to play that leans into whatever they are good at and they all work together to ensure their survival, despite this though, they aren't above killing their own when push comes to shove or when one of their own isn't pulling their weight.
Social structure:
Like Earth lions, a coalition of Sphinxian can be 15-30 members with an "Alpha" female being at the top. Their society is rather primitive, living mostly in huts or starship wreckage or caves and ruins that are scattered throughout the planet. They don't tolerate outsiders and tend to be fiercely territorial, but they aren't above taking people or even other Sphinxians as prisoners if it benefits the tribe. They are intelligent enough to understand most foreign languages, and can even figure out most technology if given enough time. The young will spend most of their lives training, and learning how to survive and when they come of age, they are cast out from the tribe as part of a coming-of-age ritual, they must explore the planet in search of something to bring back to the tribe that can benefit the group, this can be anything be it a mate, or even resources each object can be different depending on the tribe.
Leadership can be passed down from heir to heir, though on occasion people are allowed to issue trials by combat where Sphinxians can fight the current heir for the right of leadership. Trial by combat can also be used to settle most debates, or even just for entertainment.

Despite being in a no-fly zone, the Planet of Gaea sees its share of intergalactic visitors, this is because the planet itself is mineral-rich and home to many exotic species of plants and animals that fetch a high price due to them being rare, especially on the black market. The deeper into the jungle you get, the more dangerous the wildlife becomes.
