→ Royce was the only biological child to come of Tom and Rose Hamilton, and had a rather peaceful upbringing prior to the arrival of Connor. But, it's easy to say his pre-Connor upbringing was easy considering that it only lasted three years. One day his parents surprised him with the news that he'd become a big brother, which was really neat and all, until he found out his little brother wasn't exactly his little brother. Three year old Royce was expecting someone that shared flesh and blood with him, and not the little boy he sometimes played with every time they went over to their house. Royce was much too young to understand and handle why exactly it was that Connor was suddenly becoming his little brother. All he knew was that Connor's parents were no longer around, but as to what happened specifically - that was going to be kept from him for a long time.
Things weren't smooth sailing when Connor became a member of the Hamiltons. Right away, Royce was rather envious and jealous of the attention that Connor got. He simply just didn't understand that Connor had a much more dire situation than Royce did. As a result, that manifested as resentment and he sort of stayed away from Connor. Sometimes he was impossible to find, but Royce didn't pay much mind to it. It wasn't like he'd miss him that much. He'd turn up eventually, anyway.
Then, things changed when Royce's father suddenly disappeared. One day he went out... and he never came back. Royce, being the genius that he was, immediately blamed it on Connor. It strained their relationship big time, to say the least, and Royce spoke to Connor even less after that, unaware of what actually happened. As far as Royce is concerned, his dad walked out on them because of Connor. Things were hunky dory until Connor came along, and then it just all slowly went to shit over those 16 years. Now, he dives deeper into his sports to make sure he has an excuse to not be in the same household as Connor. He can't even bear to breathe the same air as him at this point.
