Valerie 'Val' Elliott
Type:

Human
Age:
Twenty Four
Sex:
Female
Appearance:
Val stands at a 5'6 with a slim figure weighing about 125 lbs, long legs and green eyes. She has dark red hair that hangs down slightly past her shoulders but is usually tied up in a bun or ponytail. On her back left shoulder is a tattoo of a black star, with a blue star in the middle of it.
While this is the only tattoo she has, she has several deep scars on her left rib cage, left thigh, and shoulder.
Clothing
She has two pairs outfits she wear. The first a grey tank top stained with dirt, oil and burn markings, paired with black sweatpants with similar markings. The second is a well kept white shirt with a camo-green jacket, paired with camo-green cargo-pants.
She also keeps a pair of goggles on her, a scarf and pair of welding gloves. At times she wears the scarf around her mouth to conceal her identity.

Personality:
Valerie gives off a very cheerful and helpful attitude towards others. She enjoys being helpful where she can, but tends to shy away from direct conflict if possible. She enjoys chatting and being social, but doesn't stay in one place too long, so she rarely makes friends.
Behind the scenes, she can become distant, out of focused and depressed. She blames herself for the death of her squad-mates and friends, a traumatizing event that still haunts her to this day.
Background:
Born the third child of Abraham and Victoria Elliott, Valerie grew up on the peaceful planet of Rudenas. Her mother was a native doctor of the planet, her father was a former United Front soldier but both loved each of their children dearly. Her eldest sibling was Hayden Elliott, a boy who was 5 years older and the middle child was Isabella Elliott who was 3. She was a fairly good child who had plenty of friends, kept up with her grades and rarely got into trouble.
When she was a teenager she dreamed of traveling the stars, seeing other planets and exotic life-forms for herself. She was often scolded by her parents, especially her father, when she openly talked about traveling outside of the planet, but it never killed her spirit. This dream, some UF propaganda and stories she was told influenced her to sign up with the United Front military at the age of eighteen. Her parents were furious, but didn't stop her.
For the next several years Val trained as a combat medic on Devaki in the Oni Nafarri system. She was mesmerized by space travel, different cultures and ways of life. She made friends within her unit and saw them as a second family. She picked up French and found a favored pass time in engineering and robotics. She often sent messages home to her family but never got any in return. This didn't dampen her enthusiasm for being apart of something greater.
Her team, among a few others, was selected to head to the alien planet of Cocos. It was a dangerous place, but they had a well thought out plan. They'd get in, get an alien artifact, then get out. It seemed simple and smooth in her mind. Sadly, it didn't work out that way at all. When they were heading to the evac site the unit was ambushed. It was a massacre, the UF soldiers didn't stand a chance. By pure luck her team made it back to the ship, but during take off the ship was shot down. She was the only one to survive. A few other ships managed to escape, but theirs was the one with the artifact.
For the next few weeks it was lonely and rough. She often thought about ending it. Instead she insisted on surviving for the memory of her friends and family. Using the scraps of the UF ship and tinkering with the artifact she managed to create Volt, an AI drone. She quickly bonded with her robotic companion, and managed to send out a signal using him. A passing adventurers ship picked up the ping and helped her escape the planet.
Since then she has been roaming the stars finding work where she can. She made the mistake of returning to UF territory once, but when she was identified she was deemed a deserter. Now wanted by the UF, she was forced to stay in other systems other than the ones she knew. She didn't ever return home to her family in Rudenas, unsure if they'd accept her back.
Skill-set:
Medicine and First Aid(Intermediate)
Trained as a combat medic and taking practices from her mother, Val brings valuable medical training to her allies. While she isn't as skilled as a doctor, she's better than nothing. She also has a good amount of knowledge about the various kinds of combat stims.
Engineering, Repair and Robotics (Novice-Intermediate)
Initially picked up as a hobby, but forced to use her knowledge to survive on Cocos. While she could argue her skills are intermediate, there are many who are more skilled than her. She regularly practices on Volt by repairing and upgrading him.
Combat (Novice)
She isn't the best shot or best strategist, but she has seen her share of conflict. When shit hits the fan she will most likely hold her composure, but she isn't the best for front line operations.

Standard equipment:
Pack

Clothes, Various engineering tools, Multi-Tool, Compad, Comlink, Canteen, Charging Station for Volt, Picture of her family, Picture of her and her UF Unit, Binoculars, and Med-kit

Volt: Val's companion and friend, remade from the scraps of the United Front airship and Mandate artifact that crashed down during her mission. Makes various beeps and boops, flashes different lights and does certain movements to communicate, which Val seems to understand. He has many modes and functions, ranging from a near-silent stealth mode to a loud, rapid firing assault mode using ballistic rounds. When apart, Val can give orders to Volt using her Comlink.
Valerie, like other natives of Rudenas, is wary of Psychic's. Her time with the UF helped her learned to be more tolerant of them, but she can't help to not be trustful of them.

Name: Karl Murphy
Type: Human [With some Cybernetics]
Age: 21
Sex: Male
Appearance: Standing at about 5'8 and weighing 150 Ibs when not wearing his "pilot/field uniform." When wearing said uniform, he is almost 5'11 and 165 Ibs. Pale and having somewhat of a lightweight frame, said stature has caused some to joke that he is a kid. Which is not helped by Karl's mannerisms. In terms of facial appearance, no one really knows what the man looks like underneath the helmet, beyond rumors and snide comments. Though from various rumors, the general consensus is that he does in-fact have: Blackish hair, brown eyes and a somewhat narrowish facial structure. Although that last part does come from an ex-lover that has a tendency to lie, and the whole thing is based on rumors, so take this with a lot of salt. The helmet has a special feature where it can project symbols on the visor, allowing Karl to emote without having to show his face. In terms of regular clothing, he will always go for the hoodie/cargo pants combo alternating on what he likes to call the "Casual Casey" which is basically a tank top and sweatpants combo.

Personality: The joking type of person, Karl hardly if ever takes anything seriously. Often commenting sarcastically or making jokes during serious situations, including ones with certain death as a possibility. This isn't to say that he can't get serious, as he can take things seriously, especially when it concerns the death of a loved one or anything of the sort. Just don't expect him to not crack a joke in any other situation. Most people tend to also describe Karl as a mellow realist. Evening quoting him. "I ain't out to change the universe for better or worse, I'm just trying to get by until I can either pass on something or do something cool and pass away." He also has a tendency to quote the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Which basically translates into "Don't screw with me and I won't screw with you." A concept that is agreeable even by people who hate his guts.

Background: Born on the planet "Ara" to mercenaries, before being subsequently orphaned when the parents unfortunately were killed after being sent to see into a "vault on a dangerous planet containing loot never before seen." He was promptly half-raised by the frequent arriving/leaving mercs, traders and former friends of his parents. Sure, this treatment covered teaching, general health and such, but when it came to certain things such as careers, and whatever else that his caretakers didn't have time to educate him in, he was left to figure it out himself. Which made his late childhood into early teens a hard journey through life.

To fend for himself, he had to take jobs as a child and teenager, ranging from the mundane to dangerous for someone of his age. Which earned him some respect in some of the nearby populace and quite a few injures and scars. And for a good while, Karl thought he was going to be stuck this way until he would join a random band of mercs and go die on another planet for money. By either being betrayed for a bigger cut, or from whatever they would be fighting, never able to fulfill the dream of being able to see what else was out there and such. Up until he met an individual that he refers to as "Mentor." Someone that even Karl has trouble remembering just who the person was, which basically means that they're another mystery to ponder over. Some claiming this, and some claiming that. Anyways, Mentor took Karl under his/her figurative wing, introducing him to the wonders of cargo-hauling and light bounty hunting. Which of coarse made Karl happy, as it provided him with the ability to travel to other worlds, meet new people, and make a decent amount of currency. Sure some of the runs were somewhat illegal and he had to get into gunfights and kill people he didn't know, but that was a small bump in the road.

This went on for many, many years until Karl was a young man. At this point, Mentor left Karl to fend for himself. Which for Karl, wasn't too hard. As he learned how to fight, cargo-run and the basics for just about surviving in space, which combined with the payments from the jobs done with Mentor allowed him to buy decent gear and entry onto transports to planets where he could advertise to do cargo-runs. Either legit ones, or the ones that were best done from the prying eyes of the law...

Skill-set: Decent Piloting skills, while he is not the best, he is not the worst. As he tends to rely upon the ship VI or his mentor to do the expert piloting. This also goes for his gun-play which is basically just keep firing until you run out of ammo or until the target is dead. As well as hand to hand combat, which also just turns into a odd game of "taunt the opponent into making a rash move then punch them into the ground." He makes up for this by having both an uncanny ability to just seemingly pick up skills and perform decently with them and he is also talented in anything regarding charisma. Sort of a "Jack of all trades, master of none." Not your first go to, but he can be a reliable fall-back in case things go south.

Standard equipment: A regular Las-Pistol, Booster Pack [Basically an odd version of a jet-pack that is more used to cover distance quickly in non-low gravity environments, and of coarse to maneuver in low gravity environments. It however cannot allow Karl to ascend rapidly in altitude as the device was originally designed to help people in low-grav situations to easily maneuver about without worry to floating off or having to rely upon pesky inertia.] The PANU [Personalized Assistant Neural Uplink] Helmet which displays information to the user, help keep the user safe from airborne contagions or low air environments [It will need something to supply the O2] and help with any neural uplinks by acting as the bridge between the implant and whatever it is being connected to without running the risk of the user having his/or skull fried. There's still a chance of that happening, but with the helmet. It'll be the one to maybe catch on fire, which might give you a chance to get it off before dying. The helmet also features a function personally implemented by Karl with the aid of a friend where it can display symbols on the visor. Helping Karl make faces without having to show his face. And finally, a regular compad.

Languages: Terran Mandate Common, Russian, and some snippets of other languages. But not enough to hold a conversation.
