So this one was more of a random thought on my brain. We all have certain quirks and things about rping that either jives or misses with us. So disclosure, this is NOT A BASHING THREAD! If you come in here to bash, you will be turfed right back out. This is truth's about you and your rping. Particularly things you prefer in either direction! And certainly not a place to list out EVERYTHING!

As example, three things for me when it comes to rping that might not be obvious

1. OC chatter, I don't mind it but I do not enjoy small talk. Mostly cause I'm super bad at it and get awkward. So i tend to go very quiet and give small responses back. And well, admittedly I have a hard time connecting. When I do, we can chat about anything, otherwise ehhhh!

2. Paragraph spacing. I have no idea why, but when there is conversation of characters all crunched up in one paragraph, I twitch. It's a total personal preference XD

3. Possessiveness, thankfully I haven't seen this one in a while. But I've seen in my past experiences people get very possessive over characters I play and want me to ONLY rp with them with that said character. I just find this one peculiar!

So what are some of your vague RP truths? Remember, no bashing!

-KICKS DOWN THE DOOR- I TOO WILL STICK WITH THREE.

1. I love love writing sex scenes. Sex scenes are a frikkin awesome story telling moment. And I am down for writing all kinds, from romantic and sweet to traumatic and horrible. But it's hard for me to find partners, cause most people who write sex scenes are in it ONLY for the sex scenes. D: They jus wanna write the porn over and over and over again, and I find that SO BORING. I need the plot, and the character development, the story moving forward and the sex sprinkled in where it actually means something.

2. I don't like playing male characters as my main. >:[ I CAN, I'm GOOD at it, and I'll write a bunch for NPCs n' stuff, but I'm not interested in stepping into a dude's life in the slightest. I refuse to do that "doubling" thing where you both play a girl and a guy so you both get the romance. 😂 I don't have to compromise.

3. AND FINALLY... just a silly thing, I don't like when the faceclaims don't match in style for the rp. XD It's gotta be all anime, or all drawn art, or all real people faceclaims. If they don't match it angers my brain weasels. I've even started hunting down alternative styles, so I can swap my picture out to match what everyone else is doing. O: Especially for anime-themed settings, cause then I have a neat anime/manga style and the "actor" that'd be them.

I can't come up with 3 right now but one 'truth' is Pacing.

I just like to take my time introducing characters and elements a little at the time as the story goes. I don't like it when characters get introduced to early or when plot twists or secrets are revealed too soon cause it makes the story feel rushed. Let's just take our time and explore the world and its story together...slowly. Savor the moments!

This resonated with my soul.

Hmm hmm hmmmmmmmmm okay let's see if I can think of a few

1. Plot. I absolutely love making nice big plots with drama and action, humor, romance, a nasty villain. All of the above! Doesn't necessarily need to have all of that, but there's got to be some plot. I'm not all too interested in quick one shots or slice of life stories that don't really intend to go anywhere. I love that adventure!
Though, that isn't to say I won't do one shots or slice of life. If you entice me with an interesting enough premise, I'll bite! :D

2. Patience. I know that sometimes people are eager for posts and excited about an rp, and that also sometimes one is more exciting than another. I definitely sometimes favor one rp over another. Some characters/rps/plots are harder to write for and some come to me much faster. Sometimes I post back immediately and sometimes it takes me a while to think of a post! I appreciate greatly the partners that understand when others are busy or distracted or just aren't feeling it and don't hound or beg for posts. <3

3. OoC chatter. Oh man I am bad at small talk and awkward as hell and it takes me a loooong damned time to warm up to someone to where I feel comfortable just chattering away with them about the rp or other interests, but once I get there... I especially love getting to know people I write with and can see them as friends and people and not just a name on a screen that sometimes replies back to my posts with their posts 🤣
Even if I am awkward as hell forever and scared to talk at first, I don't want people to think I don't like it! I am just... a shy coward lol

1. Pacing pacing pacing - PACING. (I'm with imaginationgonewild on this one lol)
It's so stupid in my brain but oof, I really like to get into a scene and let the characters talk. I think more often then not people must find that boring? But I love it. I need it. I don't have to have something happening in every post. Just let me love the babies getting to know each other!

2. Collaaaaaaboration-!! [If anyone has played 'It takes two', you know what I'm referencing lol]
I like to be an equal contributor to creating the story/atmosphere/drama/etc. It's sooo my favorite part about creative writing with another person. Let me surprise you with things and then let me be equally - GASP NOOOO - when you make something crazy happen. I get bored/drained when the balance tips too much either way.

3. Faceclaim.... weirdness in my brain.
Don't make me feel bad about this one, okay, but if someone picks a visual faceclaim I can't resonate with I kinda like... create my own version of them in my brain like I do with books based on the general descriptions given.

(1) OOC chatter is super important to me. I love being friends with the people I write with. If we don't have enough chemistry to be friends, I think we're going to have a hard time plotting and writing with each other.

(2) I don't like anime face claims. I feel like a traitor to my own people, but it's true. It's not that I hate anime in general; in fact I admire many anime/manga franchises and believe them to be masterpieces... BUT... it's definitely not an art style that I'm a fan of. Even if I'll gladly binge AOT/SNK all over again.

(3) I love looking at people's GORGEOUS codes and graphics and making my own as well. Call me vain, call me shallow. I don't care. Obviously, substance is much more important than aesthetics, but why not have both you know?

Can't say I appreciate unresponsive codes though, as I'm on mobile a lot and it quite literally makes me unable to read people's posts >:[

I soooo feel those two too.

1st: I love "smut" in my RP.. lots of it in fact, but I HATE GONZO ... Smut being very subjective from person to person (and culture). So the amount I enjoy
with sexuality also build into the backstory and culture of my chars.. very sex positive and "brave new world" like
It might be to much for some (esp. colonists^^)

2nd: Me neither... I do this (somewhat strange) Herm thing with my char.. love this, but esp. playing cis-het dudes.. is.. I tried it a few times and failed or it felt wrong.. so yeah :3

3rd: I put the next two things into one.. since I feel it is the same category for me (and I may get a bit upset about those ;D )
Its coding and word count
Coding can look nice.. but I really hate it when the whole post becomes a mess of scroll bars, loopy fonts, small/thin line fonts and eye sore colours so it is hardly to read any more...some may like it.. I hate it and want to burn it with fire

Same goes for word count (or as those people like to call themselves: literate) They demand 3k words every post (worse variety of them are those who demand as much and then post frequency every day or every other day.. yeah... no, flower). I prefer quality over quantity.... it doesn't have to be a strickt Checkov's Rifle.. but you know... serves the500word paragraph about the bedpost carvings a point? No.. then skip it

Again.. Details are great to drive a point or set the world... but I don't need every house front on the street we take to the palace described in a own 1k word paragraph in excruciating detail ;3

-----

Sorry that the 3rd one was a little rant... but that's that :*

1. Patience - I'm not the fastest at writing replies. Sometimes I might be able to reply quickly, but for the most part, it takes me some time. It might even take me weeks depending on what is going on with my life. I appreciate it when people are willing to wait. Equally, I'll wait as long as I need to for my RP partners! Take as long as you need, take a whole month or more if you have to. I don't want anyone to feel pressured to reply to our stories. But I don't like that pressure, either. xD Please, give me time.

2. Pregnancy/Having Children - I'm not really into the idea of RPing a pregnant character or having kids in the roleplay. It just doesn't interest me. I meet a lot of people who like to add in these elements, and sometimes I'll agree to it, but mostly I don't wanna. xD Part of this is due to me being a parent IRL. I love being a parent, it's something I'm proud of, but I want an escape from that when I'm writing, to be honest.

3. Div Boxes - I have a hard time reading these. :[ Partly because of my sensitive eyes, partly because it distracts me from the actual post. I appreciate the effort people put into them, though. <3 They're pretty. I can't make those to save my life.
