Chase had only actually taken two more muffins from the pile, though the way they were stacked on his plate it may have looked like more. He wasn't even sure he'd eat the two he had. If he didn't, though, he suspected he could get away with smuggling them out in a napkin or something. No need for good muffins to go to waste, right?
And with how much food was out, and the number of patients coming to eat, he suspected there might be a little waste when all was said and done.
The salmon flaked nicely as he picked bits of it apart with his fork and popped them in his mouth. Ooo, it was good. Chase allowed himself another smile, picking up one of the bits of roasted potato and sending it after the bit of salmon. Yup. Really good. Nothing like normal hospital food.
Then again. What did I expect? This entire thing hasn't been exactly standard hospital.
He watched a couple others come in and start getting their own food, and gave a little inviting wave to anyone who glanced his direction. Then realized, after nomming another bit of potato, he probably ought to get a drink. He glanced over the buffet, eyeing the drinks and trying to decide what looked best from here. Also. Holy shit. I can read things from here. which was impressive in its own right.
He hopped up, this time risking going without his cane- he wasn't going far, after all. He had to put a hand on one of the tables a couple of times, but got to the bit of the tables with the drinks and grabbed a bottle of water and made his way back to his seat. About the same time that he was settling back into his seat, a woman with a cane. He blinked, tilting his head to the side for a moment as if he hadn't expected to be asked.
"Uh. Yeah. Feel free. Not like I have a monopoly on the table," he smiled, "My name's Chase. But, don't expect me to be too talkative with all this stuff sitting in front of me." He motioned slightly to the still-mound of food before him.
Just because he was hungry didn't mean he ate that quick. A couple bits of asparagus made their way into his mouth, followed by a swallow from the large bottle of water he'd grabbed a moment ago.
