Hello Iwaku! So, I thought I would make this thread because there are common misconceptions about some people playing as disabled OCs. Some people do not know how to do it or exactly what disability they are writing as sometime. I am here to clean up some confusion about this matter with part 1 on how to write as disabled OCs called... Blindless.

Disclaimer: I am in no way making fun of or belittling disabilities here... I am simply stating what I have noticed in my time of playing opposite one. So do not come after me please <3 I am a fun and loving neko! (With disabilities of my own)

Part 1: Movement
Now, blind people normally have a way to move around. In most cases, that would be a cane that is tapped on the ground to see what is in front of them. This is the most common way. Another way is a seeing eye dog, which can sense danger and is trained to know where you need to go. One more way is a caregiver walking the person where they need to go. Whether it be a parent, guardian, significant other, or caregiver through the state. Just someone to help you get around. This was a new one to me. She claimed that her chara did not know how to use a cane or a dog so she walked around with nothing. Blind as a bat and walking around with no support. That is nearly impossible and highly unlikely. I know some people memorize their way but going across town like that can get you killed.

I will add more to this if need be but for now, this is what I have. A small bit of advice to know how to play the role correctly. Please heed this. It is not fun to opposite a partner who does not know how to do this the right way. Thank you for reading.

Oooh, this sounds like the part of a series. o3o Looking forward to seeing more~

I will offer some suggestions to this weekly thing you're doing.
- Mute - (Plenty of characters in fiction with this)
- Deaf - (Plenty. Again. Would like to see your take on it.)
- Quadraplegic (Haven't seen this one before. I would like to see your take on how one could potentially roleplay a paraplegic character)

It's important to remember that there are degrees of blindness. Many people think of blindness as 100% black all the time. But many blind people can still see light.

While probably not the case in your example, human echolocation is not unheard of and can generally help blind people get around without aid.

Additionally, some people may refuse to be labeled as blind and so force themselves to appear to be unhindered by their disability by lacking any aid. My grandfather was profoundly blind, but it came on him later in life and he absolutely refused to use a cane or even wear sunglasses. If someone walked him around an area once or twice, he was pretty good about memorizing it and could later get around in said areas by himself with little issue.
