Zookeeper's Sanity and Shifter's Amusment

Kakeru jolted back up hearing the outside door open and a low growl coming outside his office. He threw his glasses back on. Tripping over his blanket tangled around his legs he hit the ground hard. He groaned rubbing his head and got to his knees and glared at his blanket. He'd never been one for a rushed wake up call. He kicked at the blanket and threw it on the couch; standing up he walked to the light switch and flicked it on.
"Who's there."

Slight woman squeaked when Adair's gorwl got louder. She had a bucket in her hand that looked like it had cleaning supplies in it. The panther pounced up onto a near by branch so he was higher then her and grew silent when he saw the other human guy come towards him looking slightly dishelved. "I apologize, I didn't know the animal had been brought here yet, I came in to clean up a bit more." she said sounding terrified. Adair listened before jumping down and rubbing against her leg, making her start shaking and go pale white. To him it was quite amusing.

Kakeru bit back a chuckle and walked to the door, "It's okay you just startled him come on buddy lets get you something to eat." He opened the door glancing at the girl. "While he's out you can finish what you forgot yesterday."

Adair stepped away from the lady and bounded over to the human male obviously understanding good was an option. He moved easily and quieter then most panthers but he his it well. He paused at the door before stepping through and sitting on the ground that was cool from the night. He looked over at the man expectantly, his head cocked to the side.

Kakeru gave the panther an amused glance and opened the frige to grab a bowl of cubed beef and some raw chicken. He walked to the center of the room and set the bowl down then backed away a few feet so the panther could eat in peace. He glanced seeing the girl hurrying to clean what she'd forgotten the night before and running out like her shirts were on fire.

Adair watched him intently before jumping into a space on the counter without knocking anything over. He leaned down and followed the humans hands with his gaze before politely he began to eat. He noticed the woman leave and gave her a soft yowl as she walked past making her jump. His tail flicked indignantly.

Kakeru snickered at his playfulness as the girls squeaked and surried out of the room probably going to warn the other workers so they wouldnt just bust through and possibly get mawled by the loose feline.

Adair finished his food quickly, locking his whiskers clean when he was done. He hopped down and started to investigate the room, his tail twitching from side to side. It didn't smell like anyone from his kind had been there at all which made him relax. They wouldn't find him here yet.

Kakeru walked to the panther's cage and entered to make sure that the girl had done her job or left anything that could have made him sick. At the same time he unlocked the door between the back area and the outside exibit, it was much better than the night time bunker. He'd been happy with the results, since he'd been the one to put the project together. He walked though the door and stood outside letting the sun hit his face with a sigh, he waved to a passing cleaning crew and a few consession stand workers. Today was going to be a nice day he could feel it.

Adair turned and watched the human before sitting and curling his tail around his body. He cocked his head to the side when he noticed how he looked. In the human part of his mind he thought the human looked nice for a soft human. He lacked the hardness from the other weres that he had been used to. Suddenly he felt annoyed that his life was in the hands of this human who didn't have a second form or the strength. It wasn't an angry annoyance just a slight wound of pride. He walked up to the human and past him before leaning down to drink some from the pond.

Kakeru watched as the panther walked out into the larger portion of the exibit then walked back to the back and left the door open between the front and back so the feline could go freely through his new home. He closed the cage door behind him and went to his office to finish filing the papers he'd been putting off until the morning.

Adai walked around the enclosure, sniffing around. The sun hit his fur and made it look like an oil slick. His eyes glinted with their odd color before he jumped up onto a rock where the shadows hid him. He watched as maintenance people walked around and smelled the rich smell of roasted peanuts and coton candy. He wished for a moment that he could walk over in his shorts and get some but that would be too conspicuous. A few people with kids stared wakling around while their children squeeled. He tensed and went a bit more feral out of habit. If one of them worked for his pride then he wasn't going to make it easy for them to pick him out,

Kakeru spent most of his day filing paper work; when he finally finished he wandered to the side gates where he could enter the exibits and check on his cats starting with his tiger, she'd been here since she was a cub and he'd fallen in love the first time he saw her. Opening the door he saw her ears perk and she turned her head before standing and trotting over to him. Full grown she now saw him as the cub and her the mother but it didnt matter to him. She butted her head against his leg as he stroked her fur. "I see you've been swimming today." He laughed; ten minutes later he left smelling of tiger and walked towards his loins; he stayed out of the cage as he didnt want to upset the male female balance that they established but they all wandered over to the side to see him in their own time. Next was ther cheetah, then the lepard, and finally his new cat, the panther.
Kakeru walked inthroguh the side cage door and looked around, spotting his new companion hidden in the shades.

Adair had kept his gaze on the humans walking by and started a bit when someone walked into his cage. He stood and looked over at the human that walked in. He walked over and rubbed against the human once before stepping away and staring at the people again, his eyes slits. He couldn't let himself be distracted since there were so many people gwaking at him. A small growl rumbled in his throat.

Kakeru chuckled and stroked the panther'f sleek fur, "Dont worry no one is brave enough or stupid enough to jump the fence and mess with you." At least that's what he always hoped, the feline's were use to him but he wasnt sure what they would do if someone fell or jumped in. At least with Tala, his tiger, if it was a child she would only make sure it was okay before leaving it alone for Kakeru to deal with.

Adair twitched his tail for a second before he started to pace the length of the cage easily. One of the kids pulled their dad to the railing and smiled broadly. ”Daddy look a kitty.” she said brightly. Adair paused and looked up at her with his pupils slim. she was dangling over the edge with the bar holding her weight. Adair playfully growled at her, mainly to get her to step back. His human side didn't like her being that close to falling and her father was an idiot for letting her doing that. The girl jumped and almost fell, her father catching her more quickly then a human should have.

Kakeru watched the panther closely not really sure what to do but he seem to be okay. He needed to finish his work but there was something about the feline that was facinating, almost different.

Adair relaxed a bit when the girl was in her father's arms and backed up, making himself seem like he was annoyed when he really wasn't. He glared at the father and almost shifted human and ran when he saw the flash of violet in the man's eyes. No, not here. Dammit. Why wont they just give up? He sprinted into the underbrush of the side of the cage and climbed into the shadows of the tree. He slunk back and stared while the man and girl walked away the man looking smug. Crap. He felt his fur raise for a second before he forced himself to calm down.

Kakeru shook his head and left, seeing the panther in such an agitated state. He didnt want to set him off with somethinghe might do and have an accident in the making but he did unlock the back door. It was the people that seemed to be stressing him out so he figured that a little privacy would calm him down. Kakeru made his way back to his office and had to hurry as the phone was ringing, "Hello?"
