ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE!!

As they headed towards the apparent safe room, one of the zombies tried to bum rush him. Mishka the dog lept up and headbutted the zombie sending it rattling back, and then proceeded to follow them inside the room his tongue hanging out looking at all the new people he crawled between dakarai's legs. growling a bit as he was more uncomfortable than usual. " Well...uhm..thank you"

Having seen the girl run up to her Kona takes one hand off her weapon and puts it protectively around the girl while pushing her towards jae who pulls her inside. Is about to steady her aim in a walkers head when suddenly her mind becomes hazy and her fingers begin to shake. The stress and sound if a Childs voice along with the other survivors running towards her was bringing back a brutal memory.

For a moment kona completely loses touch with reality around her and is suddenly back in Croatia helping and injured man into a helichopter. Looking up to see an angry riot swarming closer like a stirred up hornets nest. A small girl just like mira and her family running towards them. There were so many enemies and so little time they left them there to be beaten and kicked to death by the mob. She remembers watching them fly away and abandon them to their fate. When her mind snaps out of it she says to jae the same thing her former superior said that day.

"we need to go. We can't save them all. Let's go before that mob is on us." Fires one shot stringing two undeads through the face to get two in one shot. The bullet going dangerously close to the other survivors. After taking the shot turns to jae while stepping back into the door frame. "get in there. We have to go there's no time." There was plenty of time for them to make it if her and jae helped them but kona was starting to freak out because the scenario was so similar to a nightmare in her career.

Jae was stubborn. "No. You can go in, I'll cover." She said, standing and taking three steps forwards. She fired expertly, each shot hitting their mark perfectly.

Kylen shifted in the corner. He watched out the window carefully. He'd never fired a gun before..
Mira held Angel close and stood on her toes, looking out one of the windows carefully, silently. She was amazed.
Angel only hugged Mira's arm, not letting go, eyes closed tight.

Jae frowned, reloading quickly. The guns..they're attracting attention.. She thought, but continued firing. Each shot was only a small *woosh* in the air, thanks to her silencer. She knelt down on one knee again, firing. She was not leaving anyone behind. Never again.

Jacob slowly stood up and walked back into the front. He made a note to never grab that woman again. He had his G36K to his shoulder and aimed it at the door. He kept the door in his sights, even when Kona stepped to the side to allow people in. You'd never know when a large group would force it's way in, and he wanted to make sure he could at least defend himself. Jacob wasn't ready to become an undead, let alone dying. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a news paper clipping with his picture, talking about his fifth consecutive world championship title. Jacob lowered his weapon a little and carefully pulled it off of the wall. After reading it a bit, he crumpled the paper and threw it down. It doesn't matter anymore, so why care? He thought to himself.

He was jerked back to reality when the shooting started. He quickly swapped to his bow and aimed carefully. Two arrows zipped by everyone's head and landed in two of the undead. Jacob grabbed a bunch more arrows and moved towards the door. "Everyone in, I'll cover." He said, quickly shooting the arrows, taking down zombies left and right, hoping to be able to collect those arrows when everything clears up.

Kylen's attention turned to Jacob and he watched carefully. After a few moments, he stood. He knelt over, picking up the crumpled paper, reading over it a moment before walking towards Jacob. "You're Jacob?" he said, looking amazed at the picture.

Mira turned at her brother's voice, but her attention was pulled easily back to the fight.

Jae stepped forwards again, continuing to fire as the Dog, the man, and the young girl got closer. She pulled her glasses over her eyes and they zoomed in a little. Binocular glasses. Doubling her scope. She began firing at the infecteds's heads, hitting each shot with precision and accuracy. "Come on, faster!" she growled.

((No...o.o))

Jae backs into the door and slams it shut once everyone is in. She sits with a sigh, blocking the door. "I'm Jae." she says loudly to everyone. "You all are?"
"MIRA!" Mira blurts out, shaking a little.
Angel stayed silent, whimpering.

Jae bit her lip for a moment. Children..younger than 12 for sure. She pat the ground beside her.

Mira pulled Angel over. "This is Angel." she said quieter, sitting down with her younger sister in her lap.

Kylen stayed silent.

((Thanks for noticing that one member of this roleplay hasn't gotten the chance to respond guys. Love the blanket))

As Koda and Keinin made their way through the town after hiding out for a while in an abandoned house, the two brothers were now walking side by side together. they weren't sure where exactly they were going; just searching for other survivors and food. that was a large issue while you were out living on the road was getting hungry. But lately, both brothers had taken to another ideal living situation; tamper proofing a living space. There was a way someone could live in an apartment without being eaten by the infected; you just had to be really good. Since both the brothers were known for their inventions, Keinin and Koda had the great possibility of pulling it off. But the problem was finding the right place to work with.

"So, do you think that we could find a place here somewhere? I haven't seen any other walkers since those first ones," Koda asked, disturbing the silence. Keinin looked over and shook his head. "You really want to live here? We haven't even seen the grocery store yet. And don't forget that we might have to even fight others for it," Keinin replied. Koda stopped and cocked his head. "But aren't we looking for survivors brother?" he asked. True, finding more people might be a good idea, but what happens when one of them is bitten? Keinin grabbed his brothers arm to keep him moving; you never wanted to stop. "Listen little brother; there are some people in this world that don't mean good for others. and how do we know that they won't use us as meat shields to protect their butts from walkers? no. I think if we actually find a survivor we can trust, than we will let him or her in. But for now, we'll just settle for being a duo," Keinin replied. Koda nodded and continued.

The two hadn't seen walkers for about a half hour; and every ten minutes, both brothers would stop and hide even if there weren't any there; sometimes walkers liked to follow silently and attack at the right moments. The two brothers had learned how to protect themselves and each other; even when the breakout had happened two weeks ago, the two had never been apart. Growing up in the foster care system together and fighting against being separated, horrendous abuse and finally learning to care for one another on the tough streets had taught these two loners how to survive with just two as company. Koda was always pestering Keinin for a dog; now he wished they had one because dogs were the best walker alarms.

Jacob stepped back as the doors were shut. He looked at Kylen, not sure what to say. "Yea. Why do you ?" Jacob answer. He wasn't trying to be rude, just curious about it. Jacob didn't know what Kylen was wanting or getting at by asking who he was. Nothing in the past mattered anymore, it was life as a person or life as an undead. He quietly walked back behind the counter where he had his gear and put his bow away, picking up his G36K again. He slung the rifle over his shoulder and began packing the gear that he had hid. Jacob didn't plan to stay at the gunshop any longer then he had too. Plus the last thing on his mind was getting stuck in a shop with the undead surrounding the building. Luckily Jacob had an idea to distract the zombies from chasing him, or any of the other survivors.

(Sorry if you hadn't responded for a while LogicfromLogic. Seems you might need to catch up. So next time you post go ahead and make two posts.))

Before going inside Kona sprinkled a little acetone outside the door and wiped the door
handle with some to get the human oils and
smells off. Inside the store she leaned her
weapons on a wall and then put a hand to the wall leaning on it slightly bent forward. Her
eyes stared blankly as her mind was stuck in
another memory.

"what's your name?...Terra? Is this your doll
terra? Ok, Terra were going to help some
people who can't walk and then we'll be back
for you ok? I promise." Terra, was the name of
the girl Kona left behind that day, and she can
still see her face frightened and full of tears.
Konas hand shook and she grabbed it with the
other hand and then turned to the rest of the
group and cleared her throat before raising her
voice just loud enough for all to hear.

"Everyone, make a self assesment. We need to
know if anyone is bitten, if not then we need
to know if anyone is in need of first aid care. My name is Kona Mills, am with homeland security, or I was when there still was one."

It wasn't worth much anymore considering the agency was dead like everyone else now and she may have been the last of them, but she takes out her ID badge and shows the group anyway so they can know she is someone that can be trusted.

Jae glanced at Kona, then Jacob and Kylen, then Dakarai and Anastashia and Mishka the dog, then Mira and Angel. "Fine..guess no one's friendly." She reached gently over, taking Angel's hand. "Come here sweetie..Stop crying." Her voice was cold, but her actions were softer as she took Angel gently, rocking her back and forth.

Angel curled close to Jae, feeling scared, yet still comforted, even though Jae was still a stranger. Kylen seemed to have put his barrier back up. She sighed softly and fell asleep.

Mira waited until Angel was asleep before scooting over to Jae, resting her head against Jae's shoulder.

Jae sighed. Next time, I need to keep to myself..now I'm babysitting. She thought, shoving her memory out of her mind. Live in the present, not the past.

Kylen glanced at Jae with Angel and Mira. Hmm... He looked back at Jacob to answer his question. "I've always wanted to meet you...you persevered through training and worked really hard, one of the best rifle shooters." He sighed. "Guess it's not much of importance now.." he looked outside, the anger in his eyes clear that he hated the situation. "Nice to meet you though." when he looked back, the anger was gone.

Dakarai seemed extraordinarily quiet around these people, and his hold on his daughter seemed to tighten just a bit. He was a very protective father but he wasn't sure if he could trust these people just yet. He took a seat by a wall and sat Ana in his lap, and the dog came and placed his head on Dakarai's legs looking up at Ana. he climbed dakarai's leg and nuzzled at Ana trying to get her to play with him. " For anyone who doesn't know, i am Dakarai and again thank you for letting us in " he said pulling his mask down.

Juno vaulted over the stone parapet, and onto a roof, which was near a store where a lot of commotion was occurring. Zeds were swarming the area, attempting to get at some slippery prey. She felt she could help somebody by diverting their attention from either of them - set off an explosion in a nearby area, away from the store, and away from Juno. It could allow her to make some kind of contact...? Juno was certainly lacking any sort of contact, a somewhat complex human need. Besides, maybe she could get them to share some of their food. Juno assessed the situation through a scope she found on a zed soldier's empty gun. It wasn't a tough kill - a few kicks, and off went his head. As it were, the zeds seem to have settled down, but were lingering for the time being. Her bow was silent, but her arrows were not. She figured regular arrows were useless against zeds, but at the same time, could be used to make a more useful arrow - incendiary, pipe bomb, et cetera. Pipe bombs didn't fly very far, however, so she needed to do a lot of compensating. Juno nocked a pipe bomb and took aim away from the store, setting her sight on a wandering zed, then quickly compensated for weight and range, before taking the shot. She managed to stick it in the zed's foot, and the beeping attracted a few zeds, before it exploded, causing zeds to file out of the area towards the explosion. Juno descended the building to find two stragglers. She had to take them out before they agroed the others. She quickly did a flying kick into the first's head, knocking it down, and then landing hard on its head, incapacitating it. She quickly made for the second one and did an acrobatic dropkick into its chest, causing it to hit the building she'd just descended from, before performing a high kick to splatter its face against the stone. There seemed to be no response from the undead, so Juno knocked on the building to check for a response.

Jacob looked out the window and saw that they were being surrounded. "Thanks, I think it's still important...By any chance are you any good at spotting?" Jacob asked Kylen, as he began unclipping his Remington 700 308 win rifle from the slot on his bag. He slung it on his back, and grabbed his bow, and slung that on his back as well. He went through his quiver of arrows until he found the one he wanted. The arrow tip was made of a shotgun shell cartridge with a small fuse on it. He laid it on the counter and then looked at everyone. He pulled out a handful of energy bars, peanut butter and some chocolate. He laid them on the counter and stood up. "It ain't much, but there's enough for everyone to have one." Jacob said looking out the window. Jacob didn't take a bar, there was only enough for everyone else to have one, so instead of fighting, he chose to go without.

Kylen smiled. "No problem.." he shrugged. "I can try." He said. "Why?" He glanced momentarily at Darkarai before looking back at Jacob.

Jae nodded. "Nice to meet you Darkarai." she said, glancing at Angel.

Angel fell asleep.

Mira stayed close to Jae.

((I was going by your rule. 'Wait until it is your turn'; since I was second to post I figured that was what you meant))

They were reaching the south side of the city. They knew better than to go north, towards the slums. There were more walkers there than anywhere else in the city, so the boys had decided to take the path towards the main core. If anything, they could find something to eat. It was getting to be afternoon by the time they decided to stop. Sitting down on the ledge of a bridge, Keinin pulled out a canteen of water and drank some, but gave most of it to Koda.

"Why haven't we run into other survivors?" Koda asked. Keinin shook his head. "I have no idea; we should have seen at least one survivor by now. We might be the only ones left in this part of the city...which means that we need to high tail it out of here soon. If the walkers catch onto that, we could become breakfast lunch and dinner to them," he replied as Koda finished drinking. The two wanted to get going, but they were tired. Besides, they could see from all sides if walkers were coming.

While silently letting her father bolt through a field of the undead, along with Mishka running loose to defend them both from harm's way, Anastasia prayed in her mind. Prayed for salvation. But somewhere in her fragile heart she knew the only way to find a better tomorrow was to face the gruesome present day. Noting just how much stress her father's building up ever since the unexpected outbreak (he may have made it easy to hide, but the tired look on his face couldn't fool her), Anastasia felt more than guilty for being slightly a heavy burden to him, even if he didn't admit it himself. She just didn't know how to voice out her concern, believing he'd instantly dismiss the idea and laugh it off. ". . . ." Her imaginative mind had been wandering off for more than half an hour since they traveled on foot together and because she had her face buried beneath her father's chest, she didn't quite notice her change in surroundings, or the fact that there were now more of them - survivors.
"!" By the sudden tightness around her body, Anastasia instantly snapped out of her brief trance and looked up at her father warily. He seemed tense more than usual. Was it because of the sudden burst of new companions? She didn't hesitate to ask. "What's wrong? Are you okay? Did you get hurt, Daddy?" she whispered, reaching up a hand to gently stroke the side of his face, which had been completely revealed after he'd pulled the mask down. Huh. She never did understand why he wore that almost always. "I think we should go with them and see where they're going, too," she continued, scanning the dim room and giving everyone present a once-over. The moment she felt her father's grip tighten and noting his eerie silence, Anastasia immediately sensed something was wrong. It was perfectly understandable for just about anyone who'd become a victim of circumstance, to feel a bit skeptical and hesitant to willingly approach someone who also happened to experience the same fate. Of course he wasn't just going to freely open his arms for anyone- her thoughts were abruptly cut off when something wet touched her, almost causing her to squeal in surprise. "Oh." But when she realized it was only Mishka seeking her attention, she sighed in relief and proceeded to caress his fluffy fur. "Maybe they can be trusted," Anastasia whispered faintly, almost inaudible. Well, that was what he was worrying about, right? Trust? If he planned on surviving and taking care of them both on the long run, she couldn't have him all worked up on something so trivial. He wouldn't be able to focus on surviving if the thought of trusting or not trusting others paranoid him.
And for the rest of the minute, right after grabbing one chocolate-flavored energy bar a fellow survivor laid out on the table and going back to feast on her long awaited breakfast, Anastasia sat in complete silence.

{ LogicfromLogic my other girl's free for interaction if you're looking for someone to have your characters wander around with. She's just up on some tree nearby the store everyone's holding up in, and being a creeper. }

There's a scrape and crash sound as kona kicks in a door to a janitorial room to find a ladder going to the roof. The janitor was apparently still inside but an undead now. It took her by surprise for a moment and grabbed her by the arms pulling her into the utility room. There's the sound of groans and scuffle of feet on the floor as they struggle in the dark. Then there's a sickening pop sound and the body of the janitor falls face first on the floor. It's neck twisted and broken making a bump stick out where it's wind pipe was supposed to be. It keeps twitching and moving not long before a single shot from inside the utility room is fired into it's head.

When kona turns on the light in the janitors kona stands there with blood all over one side of her face and on her arms.

..."I didn't get bitten, so stop looking at me like that...you, your name was Jacob right? Your marksman skills might be put to better use on the roof. EVERYONE ELSE! ATTENTION!" Kona barked out in a comanding voice to get their attention. "There is a storm drain just a little less than two miles from here, it has a passage way that goes under and out of the city. You can stay here and try to hold out against the dead, or you can try to make it to the drain. But that's where I am going. I would stay and help you all, but it's a priority I get to that drain, and to be honest I think it's worth a shot for anyone else too. This ladder goes to the roof, maybe we can get out from here."

She stood there for a long moment to see if anyone would follow and then decides to begin climbing up the ladder. Outside she peeks over the roof and can see a drainage pipe going down to a back alley. It looked safe enough for even the kids to go down, though it would be tough for a canine. Climbs back down a little and calls back to the others in the store.

"ya, I can see a way out from here. Those going with me out of here hurry up. For anyone who wants to stay...as we say in the mother country: do svidaniya (Russian for until we meet again.)"

Pulling herself up Kona sets foot on the roof taking in a deep breath of air and begins to head for the pipe to climb down.

Kylen's attention yanked away from Jacob. "Hmm.." he held the handle of his knife tightly. "Nice to meet ya Jacob.." he shook his head at Kona, walking towards the door. There was a shadow...but it didn't move like an infected. He reached up, twisting the doorknob and opening the door..to almost get hit in the face by some girl's foot. "Aye!" He stepped sideways.

Jae heard the first hit on the building. She shifted. Mira sniffled. KIDS....dangit.. She used her arm to gently lay her on the ground. She shifted Angel in her arms. Angel whimpered and she stopped. Gah.. She picked up her rifle and stood, Angel in one arm, her rifle in the other, and walked up beside Kylen.

Juno stepped in rather calmly, despite the adrenaline from assassinating two zeds. "Howdy, neighbor. You guys wouldn't happen to have a spare snack or something or something on you, would you? Oh, and, if you plan on making a break for anywhere, now's a great time. There was an explosion out thataways," she said, her thumb indicating towards the door, and a mischievous grin stretching across her face.

Juno looked at the members hanging about. "You guys seem pretty organized. I've been looking for a group for awhile. I'm a damn good archer, and a damn good scout. I can hit a target at over 100 yards, administer first aid, and get to places most people can't. I'm also good at jury rigging arrows to fit my needs."

Jacob grumbled something under his breath after Kona told him that he's better off on the roof. "Nice meeting you too?" Jacob said, still not knowing the kid's name. "I have a ranch about two days from here. It's safe and protected, if yall want to head there with me."Jacob reached into his bag one more time, grabbing a handful of 308 rifle rounds, and stuck them in his pocket. Once Jacob stood up, he grabbed a bar and threw it at Juno. He then turned and looked around. He found a spotting glass and tripod. He grabbed it and climbed the ladder to the roof. I wish there was someone to give me a hand. Jacob thought to himself. He carefully set everything down in once spot and looked at what he had to work with.

Jacob decided that his rifle would be best at the moment and grabbed it. He carefully placed the butt of the rifle against his left shoulder, since he was left handed. Looking through the scope he saw where the explosion had gone off, but it was still a little too close and a little too small. Jacob searched the area once more before he found his target. A fuel truck parked at a gas station about a thousand yards away. He walked back to the roof enterance. "Hey, do yall want to come up here for a minute?" Jacob yelled into the building, directing it towards the adults. He didn't know anyone, but it was better then not having anyone. Jacob walked over to the corner of the building to get a perfect angle on his target, waiting to see if anyone would assist him.
