Let's settle in for story time, shall we?

After decades of peace, Planet Zi has erupted into war yet again. The General in charge of the Guylos Empire military has brought forth a plan to end the rekindled war between themselves and the Helic Republic in the grandest of ways: recreate and take control of the Deathsaurer in a scale manageable to their military personnel. After much deliberation and a serious military loss, the leader agreed and the military's researchers and scientists set to work to build this monstrosity. Once plans were drawn up and confirmed, they set out to create the Zoid on a small scale before building the real deal.

Now enter the Red Death of the Guylos Empire: a lieutenant colonel feared by those on the receiving end of the blades of her black Slash Liger. The Republic prided itself in its secret weapon and brought her to the battlefield to massacre the enemy. She was considered a heartless, soulless and mindless killer: the perfect weapon and pilot. The General in charge of her battalion was also the overseer of the project to recreate the Deathsaurer. She was meant to take control of the powerful Zoid in its final form. However the Red Death was also to participate in several lab tests...which was where she met the head scientist. He was friendly - talked to her even when she said nothing back. Eventually, she did start talking back. He managed to get her to open up and even return more to the personality she had as an adolescent and early teen. Slowly but surely, she became friendly - willing to speak to others and hold conversations. It had been three months since she had last been on the battlefield and she was a completely different woman. Even the other soldiers were beginning to whisper and talk about what this meant for themselves and the battlefield.

…and then the small-scale Deathsaurer was completed.

Everything was going well until they lost control. The Zoid demolished the lab and killed everyone present, including the head scientist. When the news reached her, she stopped. Thoughts snapped together in her head and by that night, she disappeared. Gone from the Empire entirely. The Empire was absolutely frantic in its search for her, but turned up nothing.

She laid low for two full years...in the Helic Republic. She had befriended a scientist and archaeologist who helped her transfer the core of her Slash Liger into another Zoid that he had unearthed and had been unable to bring to life. There were rumors that the Empire's Red Death had died. No one was suspicious of the unusual Hayate Liger and its friendly, red-headed pilot. She worked odd jobs and left people oblivious to her former identity.

...until a certain pilot recognized her. He was a sort of mercenary and managed to recognize her almost immediately…much to her dismay. He wanted a battle - and she refused until he'd finally pushed one-too many buttons. He was an impressive pilot and she was actually starting to have fun when a mass of lower level Zoids surrounded them and a new communication was established between them. After years of them searching, her former General informed her that they had almost completed the full-scale Deathsaurer and they wanted her back to pilot it. Naturally, she wasn't planning on going back, but did have every intention of making his life a living hell to prevent him from succeeding. After taking out the small Zoids, the two retreated back to the nearest village for the evening.

Naturally, she had to explain the story to him in full detail, and while she didn't want this on anyone else, in the back of her mind, she knew she was probably going to need a bit of help to make this job easier. To her surprise, he agreed, with his own reasons he didn't share and she didn't ask for. They took it upon themselves to find pilots that they could trust and who would agree to help them. All for the purpose of one thing and one thing only: put a stop to all of this once and for all to prevent the inevitable destruction of life as they knew it.

Dramatic enough for you? We hope so.

At any rate!
I am uncertain of the number of players I would like for this particular roleplay, however I would like a balance of both male and female characters and also Empire and Republic-siders. The Mercenary is up for grabs, and if someone wants them, the General and Archaeologist are as well if anybody wants them. The Mercenary is the only one that needs to be filled before the roleplay starts. If all else fails, the General and Archaeologist can be NPCs. Those are the only specific characters I had in mind, and the background, personality and everything else is completely up to you! All characters welcome~

Now for the character sheet!
Note: please do not use very light font colors.

Distinguishing Marks: Rather sizable vertical scar on her right shoulder blade. Both ears pierced, the right one also pierced at the top.

Her wrists are usually adorned in an assortment of smaller gold and silver bangles, and she is never seen without a double-row chain necklace with several rings hanging from the lowest chain. The earrings in her ear lobes are each twined with a small, blue feather and multi-colored beads, while the lone piercing in the cartilage of her right ear holds a small, silver hoop.

MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS

Allies: Only steady ally is currently the researcher she befriended, and she hasn't seen him in at least a year. And her Zoid, obviously.
Enemies: Her former general of the Empire.
Current Goal/Purpose: Defeat the general, destroy whatever research remains on the Deathsaurer and move on with her life.

Dislikes: The military, being called by her former alias and anything that brought up her past.
Talents: Innately gifted sense for mechanical work and her piloting skills for Ligers, in particular.
Inabilities: Not at all able to be particularly dainty and tends to swear…a lot.
Fears: Being hunted by herpast. And spiders. She hates spiders.
General Personality: Kira tends to come across as friendly as long as others approach her as such. She tries to be carefree, although can tend to over think things a bit more than others might. She's always cautious about revealing too much about herself, though has become quite apt at disguising this with nothing more than a smile and smooth change of subject. She has a pretty short fuse depending on the subject matter and will be the first to drop an f-bomb or two to get her point across. She's typically comfortable to keep to herself in a crowded room and prefers to have no more than two or three people conversing with her at a time.
Inner Personality: She can become rather ruthless in a Zoid battle, remnants of her military past shining through. When this aggressive side comes out, she has to take a distracting portion of her attention to hold back and not completely tear apart the opposing Zoid. She can retreat into herself very quickly and easily, thereby becoming quite difficult to talk to. There is also a part of her that is searching for something more in human relationships, although she can't quite place what.
Fondest Memory: Taking out both the Slash and Hayate Liger for the first time.
Secret: Formerly known as the Red Death of Guylos.
Theme Song: The Wreckers – by RUSH.

Partner Information
[Sometimes machines are the best of friends] [They do bite, though]
Zoid: The Hayate Liger, a Zoid unearthed by the researcher she'd befriended and stayed with for a time. He had been unable to find a core that was a match until she and her Slash Liger came along. In exchange for using the Zoid's core, she was given the functional Hayate Liger and continued to help him in his research for some time. She found and mounted a double-barreled shock cannon at the bottom of the Zoid's chest to give herself some distance capability. Otherwise it is an incredible fast Zoid optimized for close combat with the blades mounted on its forelegs and tail.
Organoid: N/A.

HISTORIC BACKGROUND

General History: Kira Akane was born on an Empire army base – her father was a colonel famous for his ability in the cockpit of a Zoid while her mother was a military transporter, more comfortable behind the wheel of a Gustav. She grew up moving from base to base, always fascinated by the Zoids around her and sneaking into the cockpits when she was finally old enough to carefully climb up into them. Her first "joy ride", so-to-speak was in a Command Wolf, and she returned it within enough time that no one noticed. She continued this habit with any Zoid she could find, always enjoying herself but never quite clicking. When she was eleven, they had made a stop for the night at a larger base than she was used to, and upon exploring later that night, she came across a black Liger she had never seen before. Sifting through some paperwork, she realized it was still a work in progress prototype deemed theSlash Liger. Of course, she couldn't keep her curious, eleven-year-old hands off of it and soon jumped in, loving the feel of the controls as soon as she took off. However the Major in charge at the time had seen the Zoid leave the hangar and followed at a safe distance, watching the Zoid move and dance around the open area…intrigued. He didn't move as a wild Gordos fired on the Liger, which, after some momentary experimentation, managed to cut down the Gordos…and quickly retreat to the hangar. Imagine his surprise when an eleven year old girl jumped down and ran around, biting her lip as she realized there was some minor damage done…

He caught up with her, quieting her apologies and asking her how she would liketo have a Zoid of her own…needless to say, the eleven year old's excitement waspalpable, and after some discussion with her parents, it was decided she wouldtrain first under her father and then under the Major who had followedher. She advanced rapidly and was soonunder the Major's training, who was a much harsher teacher than herfather. Her bond with her Slash Ligerwas incomparable, but he pushed every limit of that as well as her own physicallimits. At fourteen, she was sent out tothe battlefield for the first time to help protect a transport unit from anenemy attack. By the time she'd arrived, the container the Gustav was carrying had already been engulfed in flame. She couldn't move when she recognized theGustav as her mother's…and it was shortly after that when she snappedcompletely and her legacy began…

She was formerly known as the Red Death of the Guylos Empire: a lieutenant colonel famed as the Empire's "secret weapon". She was considered a heartless, soulless and mindless killer, capable of wiping out small battalions single-handedly. She was meant to be the pilot of the revived Deathsaurer upon its completion. However, while participating in the mandatory lab tests, she ended up befriending and opening up to the scientist in charge of the project. Slowly but surely, she became friendly towards everyone and even found herself making friends. It had been three months since she had last been on the battlefield and she was a completely different woman. When the small-scale Deathsaurer was completed, demolished the lab and killed everyone present, she was struck with a new-found sense of regret and sadness. Something she hadn't felt in years surfaced; not since the loss of her parents: guilt. She felt guilty for what had happened and it didn't take her long to make the decision to disappear from the Empire all-together. She didn't want anything more to do with the military...and especially not after she found the letter from the scientist.

She laid low for two full years in the Helic Republic. Her second night out, she and her Slash Liger had stumbled across the dig site of a rather unusual older male, a researcher and Zoid archaeologist whom she quickly befriended. He allowed her to lay low with him without too many questions, as long as she promised to help him. He'd unearthed and managed to assemble an unusual Zoid: the Hayate Liger. However, its core required the combination of another, combatible Zoid's after years of dormancy in the Zoidian underground he was excavating. She allowed him to study her own Slash Liger, and once he'd determined it would work, and she thought it over, agreed to let him transfer the core of her Slash Liger into this new Zoid. Of course, he wasn't much of a pilot, himself, and he wanted to study its abilities as well, so after a few months of Kira putting the Zoid through its paces, he offered it to her in thanks. She remained for several more months as his assistant, until a conversation with an official postman revealed that the main talk about town was the death of the Empire's Red Death and how the recently frequent battles had come to a halt. Soon after that, she made her decision to leave, promising to stop by every now and then and let him know of anything she might find on the way.
Present Life: Kira now wanders Planet Zi by herself quite comfortably. She keeps to the Republic and neutral territories, not trusting it safe enough to go near the Empire yet. She looks for and takes odd jobs, from mechanical work to chasing off wild Zoids and the like. She hasn't met with any suspicion as of late and likes it that way. She makes sure to keep an eye out for any artifacts or information the archaeologist might enjoy.
Special Historic Notes: Controlled by drifting wreckers.
