Afternoon | Soul Food -> Alleyway behind Soul Food | RavenStrong

Puck mulled over the idea of maybe ordering some more food, nearly everyone else has quite large meals after all and Kaivant said it was no problem, but they were already pretty full just from the food they had ordered. Maybe that was why they were so thin and lanky? Puck thought about it. Maybe not only could they make a lot of friends here, but also eat more and bulk up a bit as well? But then again they might end up looking too different and it would be weird. Oh well, it was certainly something to consider...
Puck was thoroughly distracted by their thoughts and zoning out completely until Kaivant fell onto the window. The sound was a bit startling caused them to jump slightly. It seemed a bit off and uncharacteristic of him to suddenly be so hasty and clumsy, but then again Puck barely knew Kaivant so for all they could know maybe he was more like that. In any case they didn't have any objections. Puck had already finished eating and a tour of Ravenwood sounded just as fine as any other idea. Even if they didn't quite understand the need to be so hasty.

Aaron followed the small group he was with inside the restaurant. Sweeping his gaze across the blakc and brown interior he spotted a group of students from the school. He also recognised the hoodie of one students and knew Jackson was there. Though it was hard to tell it looked like the poor man was shaking again and he hoped he was ok. At least with the Ravenwood rep was still there with them and there shouldn't be any trouble if he had another episode. Satisfied he followed his group to their table and picked up a menu to browse. It was a very diverse range of dishes and he now realised why the students came here often. No matter what you liked you could probably get a meal there.

His attention was stolen from the menu by William's questions. "I was surprised to see that they offer a soccer club so I'll probably be joining that." he replied, "Sticking to what I know rather than branching out. Doesn't seem like any of us will be in the same club at this rate." As the waitress returned to take their order Aaron quickly said his then waited while the others ordered theirs. Once that was done he started speaking again, "So where are all of you guys from? I'm living in Brookfield at the moment but I was living in England before I moved here with my dad."

|Takumi's Class|
|Heavy setting|
|Interactions: Dominic, Fushinsetsu, Serena, Clark, Sam|

"You remember him as Shun Takumi, host of Bastion."

"The one.. Other tall fellow?"

"We know him as Fushinsetsu now. As he could tell you, the Shun you may remember is dead, fused with a hollowed Bastion and the result is what he is now, or what he once was."

"Fused with a Zodiac? How does that even work? More questions for him then."

"Can we just get through class peacefully without a hitch? Damian? Professor Takumi? Sam?"

Damian dismissed his suspicions, letting the situation simmer down. However he wouldn't leave the premonition that there was something off about this whole class. Perhaps even the facility. Damian peered back to Dominic and over to Sam. Exhaling from his nose impatiently, Damian dropped the act of authority.

"The past is long in the past, and here we exist all together. Now, you guys just so happened to be unlucky enough to get my special section of Ravenwood Survey. That being said, we have a whole semester ahead of us, and I imagine we can do it in...peace?
Some of you seem to be experiencing some....uncertainty...fear...suspicion...
Wondrous emotions that might or might not be validated by our history, but in truth, everything is a complicated fabrication in your head.
I founded a college; you needed an education; and in the end, it wouldn't do to have our favorite hosts running away from Brookfield...no?"

Damian's brows furrowed, Takumi's question was suggestive and garnered inquiry from Damian. Detrimental that the more this man spoke the more he aroused careful skepticism. Though, he had to give Dominic the benefit of the doubt and bite his tongue. For now. Damian finally picked up his syllabus and scanned it, giving no reaction to the item, as other things are still fresh in his mind. From the corner of his eye he noticed Takumi lay out a series of papers, titled 'Assignment 1'. Damian lowered his syllabus and walked up to take the first stack of papers. He kept his gaze off Takumi to avert sparking anymore animosity off his negative expression. "Goodbye, Professor Takumi." Damian replied blankly before exiting the room, stuffing his assignment and syllabus into his bookbag and finally exiting the classroom. Beside him was the ever friendly Sam, apologizing for his outbreak. Damian shook his head in response, assuming he had a right for raising his temper like he did. "It appears he is just going to teach us. I know little about this... Whatever he's supposed to be. But I don't like the vibes I'm feeling. Also, I'll have to give you a raincheck on future invitations, Sam. He keeps me busy. Additionally, the Old Man wants me for errands. More than likely Host endeavors, so if I don't return tomorrow you know what happened." Damian lazily rose his hand to wave goodbye and walked down the hallway, exiting the main building.

...

At the gates, his father Anderson waited in front of his silvery-gray Honda leaning back onto his vehicle waiting for his son to return from his first day. Almost immediately he noticed Damian from the rubble of other students pouring from the gates. Not hard to do, as Damain is quite distinct with his casual wear and eye-patch. Grinning proudly at his college bound son. "So how was the first day?" Damian looked up at his father with an agitated expression. "I'll explain on the way. Where are we going?" Anderson's easy expression fell sullen, so quickly that it was as if he held the idea of a bad day in the back of his mind. "Well, we're meeting up with Booker. He's down by the suburbs. Hope your day didn't ruin your fighting spirit." "It only fueled it."

GM Note: Hollows are visible to normal humans in this post. Only a tad of transparent.
Above the rooftops the Hollows continued their quiet pursuit. Their targets began to move urgently, they were cut off and in a tighter space than liked. They only saw this as a close quarters skirmish. The first Hollow took the plunge, followed by the rest, 7 in total. The Hollows cried, the mix of wolves howling and human males and females screaming. The Hollows looked to be a cross between timber wolves and humans. Fur covering their heads ,shoulders, forearms, and legs. Their nails were thick and claw-like, strong enough to tear flesh asunder with minimal effort. One by one they landed from the front and back of Kaivant's escorts, blocking passage. They strafed back and forth eying the posse before the first taking a lunge at Kaivant, the one they're attracted to the most.

Kaivant would have known of the Hollow's approaching presence long before any would make themselves known. With a sharp interjection of "Silence", the man would have attempted to cease Keon's excitement, yet a howl from above, signaled that it was far too late. They had been already discovered. To make matters worse, Jackson appeared to be on the verge of another panic attack. While muttering curses under his breath, Kaivant would have immediately sprung forward to grab the collar of any outlying students in an attempt to forcibly drag them all into a tight grouping located within the center of the alley.

Another howl would echo throughout the air, just before several creatures would plunge from the heavens in a formation blocking the passage of the student's escape. More profanities would spew from Kaivant's mouth as he would desperately attempt to form a plan of action in his head. Full out offense was his speciality. In his line of work, fighting, while defending a group of students, never was a scenario he anticipated, especially if they fell into a state of uncontrollable panic. With his eyes on Hollows, slowly pacing in the distance, and his right hand on the sword pendant of his necklace, Kaivant would have taken several deep breaths before calmly speaking to the students, whom he hoped were lucid enough to listen.

"All of you need to remain calm. I don't know if you can see them bu--"

Kaivant's words never finished as one of the Hollows suddenly began a crazed charge toward his self. Ripping the pendant away from his neck, Kaivant would have quickly assumed an offensive stance as the pendant in his hand would have suddenly expanded in size, forming a full sized blade, tinted as black as night.

"Sokudo."

In a sudden flash of metal, the sound of sliced flesh would echo through the alley, and a warm spray of crimson would stain all within the vicinity. Two halves of the wolf-like hollow would dully thud to the ground on both sides of the group, but without further concern for their sanity, Kaivant would have quickly reassumed his stance; eyes locked on the Hollows in anticipation of their next move. He figured the students would remain still if they valued their lives. Hopefully, this assumption would hold true...

☨Mood:Scared, Excited, Curious☨
What the actual hell, Keon had been grabbed by the collar and pulled into the group then he saw them, where those werewolves they kind of looked like it, Keon's heart started to pound his mouth twitching, so many thoughts running through his head at once as he looked at Kai.

"Is this what he was getting worried about?" He thought to himself as he looked at the creatures, why were they slightly transparent was another question, though he was scared he didn't seem as scared as most would in this situation, he was strangly excited about this. He felt a little bad about it actually.

Then Kai cut two in half crimson liquid being sprayed over his face, Keon felt even more exctied, he had so many questions to ask, excitement rushing through his veins, he wanted to take off running without stopping.

He tried to calm himself, wait, Keon was smiling happily at the moment, not the usual type of happy either. He shook his head and keep watch on the other beasts, if they had seen two cut down so easily by Kai, they would probably go for one of the weaker one's like him or anyone else in the alley other than Kai.

So Keon got ready, not to fight but to evade which he was just as good at, still his mouth twitched trying to smile while Keon kept it away as he didn't want to look like he was excited to have his life in danger, in truth he was, but in a way this was also different for him which made it somewhat enjoyable.

He took one last look at Kai, then made a quick choice, the second these were dealt with he would take off for the dorms if it looked like he wouldn't explain what happened and instead try to use some bullshit excuse, or worse maybe he had some type of mind wipe, really after seeing this he wouldn't doubt it, and Keon wanted to remember this.

__________________________________________________________________________________

The call Shimako got was from her oldest brother who had warned her to be cautious of her actions,"Kuso! Naze ima?!" Shimako mumbled in cusses. It seemed that her family had sent out a search party for her and that some of them had came to America in search of her whereabouts. Luckily, there were only a minimum amount of them searching for her in America, majority of them in California, but it didn't mean she could relax. Her parents wanted her back no matter what and it seemed they had took action now, using force to bring her home but Shimako wouldn't let them have their wish. She had finally found her freedom, her own sky to spread her wings out of the cage her parents had put her in. She wasn't going home and she may never come home as long as she keeps her profile low.

Stuffing her phone in her pocket, Shimako let out a sigh and pulled her hood over her head. She despised her parents to go so far and send out a search party for her. She wasn't a child anymore to let them plan her life for her, she was already seventeen, basically a young adult and in three more years she would fully be known as an 'adult' - though in America it's eighteen - what good would it do to take her back? Haven't they already had enough? They had played her brother's life out as they pleased and now all she saw was misery in her brother's eyes, being forced to live a life they didn't want to live. Only her oldest brother was able to live a life his own. He had a wonderful wife that wasn't arranged by their parents and a job that made him happy, he was living peacefully with no one to boss him around. He was in complete bliss but for Shimako and her other brothers, they were still looking for that freedom. Shimako had already vowed not to let her freedom go to waste and if they came any closer to her, she would run. Transfer to another school, move to another state, just anywhere far away from her parents' reach.

Walking back to the main building, she noticed that some of the people in her group were walking off to somewhere as she overheard them say 'Soul Food',"Oh... maybe I should join them... but that would be weird." Shimako thought since she wasn't there to be invited but then again, she didn't want to go home so early nor walk around the school by herself. Taking her chances, she went off to be with them to try and make some new friends. Walking through the familiar neighborhoods and towards downtown area, Shimako strolled through the streets examining her new surrounding. She haven't been to the city part of Brookfield before and this being her first time here was a possible chance for her to get lost but maybe there was map somewhere nearby or someone who could help her, Shimako looking around for someone she knew.

Vivienne had been relatively quiet for a while during the tour as she took in the new place at which she was to stay, and truly hadn't left her dorm room once she was shown to it. It was not a shyness or laziness that provoked that decision to stay, it was simply a desire for familiarity to be formed within the new and unknown place she'd found herself in. She'd be here for what seemed like forever after all, and if that was the case she wanted that little room to feel like a home as soon as possible. If it didn't, well, she'd be worried about her drive to stay fading as a desire for her own bed and her own room came back and added to the already intense homesickness she was experiencing by being here and not with her siblings and father.

Soon however a hiss of her stomach informed Vivienne she was in need of food, and no doubt would the cafeteria be closed by then. She'd have to leave after all, even if she disliked it. With a sigh she did get herself into a sitting position, taking a second to finger comb her hair before she slipped her shoes back on and rose to her feet. She then proceeded to grab her key and various other items to stuff into her pocket before she walked to the door, quickly entering the hallway and walking towards the exit to get onto campus. She didn't mind being there either, but soon she started to grow nervous about being out by herself just then. She didn't wish to get lost in such a new place, but thankfully Vivienne soon spotted a girl she believed she'd seen Frok the tour of the school earlier. It was the closest thing to her knowing someone too, so Vivienne took her chances and approached the girl slowly, soon speaking something to make her presence known to the other.

"Hey there! Sorry to bother you so suddenly, but you wouldn't happen to be looking for a place to eat downtown, would you?" Vivienne curiously questions, offering a small smile to the stranger to give a more friendly air to the otherwise unusual question. She probably should've slid her name into that somewhere too, but now was a tad late to blurt that out as a shoddy introduction. She'd just have to save it for the next time she spoke, assuming the girl didn't just reject the dialog opening up and walk away. If she did it would no doubt suck for Vivienne, but she couldn't exactly force the girl to stay and eat with her if she really was opposed to that plan.

[Late Afternoon]
[Soul Food Alleyways]
[Ravenstronk, Beset by Beasts]

Darius jumped at the sudden ‘bang’, almost knocking his own fork off the table. Looking at Kaivant with a questioning glance, the freckled boy shrugged at the end of his explanation. He didn’t expect that the red-eyed representative would have been clumsy, but hey, everybody had hidden depths to them. Such as bookworm thug.

Then, he noticed that Kaivant wasn’t even eating anything, and asked, “Are you sure? Think you should follow your own advice. Eat some food before you pass out, Kaivant.” Darius smiled in an attempt to dispel some of the seriousness in his words, but ultimately, he was ignored. The representative was quick to get going, even though it didn’t really seem like there was much reason to rush. Of course, it would make a ton of sense if it wasn’t Ravenwood, but HIMSELF that was actually paying for the meal, and Kaivant didn’t want them to buy any more food…

Welp, whatever. If the man starts stumbling again or whatever, Darius will offer him his lunch.

Following the others out through the back door of Soul Food, he stretched out and finally allowed himself the luxury of a small burp. The alleyway was definitely narrower than the open sidewalks that they had been wandering in an hour or two past, but it was clean and well-cared for, with no cracks present in the pavement. There were also large, dark blue dumpsters at the sides and telephone posts spaced evenly along the side, but other than that, the alleyway wasn’t clustered at all. Lagging behind the group, he looked upwards at the blue sky, and smiled. It was nice weather, the sky still warming into orange as the sun began to set.

Then, he noticed it.

A shimmer in the air, darkening into a gaseous figure.

Before he could figure out what that falling object was, Darius had already ran forwards, rejoining the group as Kaivant moved to drag them all into a tighter lump. Only when he was part of the herd once more did the brunette look around.

It was as if his vision was blurring only when he directed his eyes towards those gaseous figures, unable to discern their true appearance. They were sharper when viewed from the corner of his eyes, and it appeared as if seven of those shadows had surrounded them, but it was hard to tell. Delusions? Maybe a douchebag slipped hallucinogenic drugs into their food?

No, they’re real, thought the rational Darius, as he narrowed his eyes. A mixed howl, one of both beasts and humans. Can’t be a prank because they literally leapt from the buildings down onto the ground. Can’t be normal because animals generally avoided humans. Ghosts? Monsters? Fuck, what was g-

Darius recoiled as one of those dark blurs lunged, bumping into someone as he stepped back. For a moment, he could see the monster clearly, all claws and teeth and fur and skin, a terrifying scream shattering his eardrums. Then, in another moment, it was sliced cleanly in half, the Ravenwood representative suddenly wielding a sword. The rain of blood splashed onto them, but Darius was directly behind Kaivant, and avoided most of the spray. It smelled like…nothing, and from that moment on, he knew that they were of a different world.

Slowly, he turned around, watching the monsters behind them. Maybe they would shy away, after seeing one of them killed? Maybe? Hopefully?

His entire vision was blurring now, his body shaking with an absolute fear that he had never felt before in his life. Nervous energy built up within him, but he knew that if he strayed out the range of the shepherd, he was absolutely, positively dead.

“Shitshitshitshitshit…” he repeated, over and over again, a frightened mantra that kept his eyes wide open, as he looked around.

And then, two things caught his attention.

The bloody smile of Keon, who enjoyed every moment of this nightmarish spectacle.

The psychopathic smile of Iphigenia, who looked as if she wished to partake in this herself.

Slowly, ever so slowly, ever so unnoticeably, he began to distance himself from the two, his hand reaching into his pockets, his hand closing between his jagged house keys.

|All by myself|

Val nodded to herself as the lack of response uttered back in return to her question. She continued on her way, walking at an evenly slow place, back towards where she had came from. The school was silent which made it easier to think freely. At a time like this she really should have been getting to know the school while she could, but instead she made her way back out to the front of the school, and furthermore headed back home.

|All by myself|

The walk home wasn't too long, and Val had memorized the route home along with some nearby landmarks just per chance she did get lost somehow. She didn't see any familiar faces as she tread the sidewalk, whistling to herself, hand interlocked behind her back. As she finally made it to her house Val had a flashback of punching the mailman this morning, chuckling to her self she pulled the keys from her satchel placing them into their according mechanism to unlock her door.
|Afternoon|
|Valerie's House|

|All by myself|

"I'm home." She said quietly as she stepped inside her humble abode, closing the door behind her and squiggling out of her boots at the door.

She didn't really know what to do with herself now. Val decided the kitchen might give her some ideas, stepping nonchalantly from the large brown carpeted living room towards the nearby white-blue tiled floor of the kitchen. Step one, she investigated the fridge for anything to assist her pondering, string cheese was the best choice for this mozarella to be exact. Step two, she snatched a DVD Remote from the kitchen counter. Then she made her way back to the living room, not bothering to sit on the leather couch near the front door, she popped a squat on the carpet in front of her TV, turning it on with a dexterous foot.

Immediately it sprung to life showing images of large monsters fighting eachother, letting out cries as they attacked one another and destroyed the city buildings around them. Val comfortably positioned herself upon the floor, watching the events of the movie in mild amusement. Boredom quickly took hold of her however, turning the TV off with the same foot, then springing back to her feet and making her way towards her bedroom. Her phone had gone off, but Val had been shedding her clothing and hopping into her bed by this point, no interruptions gave falter. Pulling the blanket over her and slowly closing her eyes, Valerie thought to herself.

"Tomorrow, definitely."

Zachary was paralyzed by the creatures he saw, and if it wasn't for Kaivant pulling him back into the group, he probably would have been dead. Killed by this creature that he could only just barely see, like smudge outlines. But he could hear them all to well, hear the voices screaming, the bestial howls, he could hear them with his ears and his mind. In his mind, their voices were crazed and manic, promising a slow and painful death as they devour his flesh, rend his bones, and drain him of his blood.

Zachary wasn't thinking, wasn't moving, wasn't even breathing. The fear hit him like a truck, only intensifying as he got his by the blood of the creature that Kaivant just killed. He fell to the ground, hands gripping his head, mind broken as he returned to that night, wear darkness hid from him the horrors of his friends deaths. But their was no darkness here, when they all died, he would see it all to clearly.

Tears were streaming from his eyes as he began to violently shake, almost like he was having a seizure, his breaths growing ragged as his body tried and failed tho get air into his lungs, and his heart was beating so fast that it might just explode. 'This is it,' Jackson thought, 'I'm going to die here, ripped to shreds by the same monsters I released upon my friends. And not only that, but these people, who could have also been my friends, will die as well.' Jackson's scar was burning in pain, as if responding to the creature's presence.

Jackson currently has in his possession:
  • A backpack full of all the necessary school supplies
  • A book on how to protect one's self from the supernatural(Purchased it on Ebay)
  • A silver cross, supposedly blessed by the church, used to ward off malevolent spirits(Came with the book)
  • A bottle of anxiety medication(Pill #: 36/40)
  • A swiss army Knife
  • A half empty bottle of water

Akira listened to all of them first. She didn't want to talk because it seemed everyone else was speaking in rapid succession and she hadn't found a place to enter yet. She was fine with that for the moment. She liked hearing about other people's lives and learning more about them. Many people lead such different lives and had such alternating opinions and views on life you'll pretty much never hear the same story twice. It was something Akira loved about socializing with people. It was almost impossible to become dull.

"I, um," She started. "I'm from America though I'm not full American. I was thinking of joining Tennis or Track then maybe some other smaller clubs as long as they don't interfere with anything." She stated. She looked at William first when she spoke since she'd ended up sitting right beside him then Nivandi an easy Aaron. She didn't like looking at only one person when speaking, it was weird to say the least.

Shimako was in a dilemma. She planned to join them and instead she just got herself lost in a big city,"Only one way to do this." Shimako thought and about to go walk up to a random stranger, it seemed a random stranger found her,"Hey there! Sorry to bother you so suddenly, but you wouldn't happen to be looking for a place to eat downtown, would you?" A feminine voice asked from behind. Shimako couldn't be too sure that they were asking her since she was in a crowded place and she could have been hearing things but turning around to see who it was, it seemed her guts were right. In front of her was a young girl, looking not much older than maybe 15 or something. Her eyes were the first thing that caught Shimako's attention out all her other features. Her eyes were... very colorful(?) or was Shimako seeing things? She couldn't really tell because the eyes seemed to be a mixture of color but then it looked to be chestnut hazel. Shimako find it very interesting but she didn't stare at them for too long as it would be rude to.

Bowing towards her, Shimako greeted the girl with a smile in return,"Ah, you're no bother at all. I happen to be heading to somewhere called 'Soul Food' but it seems I'm kinda lost. Do you happen to know where it is?" Shimako asked,"Also this is our first meeting but if I remember correctly, you were part of the tour, right? Nice to meet you, I'm uh... Shimako Vangeveld." Shimako introduced herself for what felt like the 100th time she did this but she finally mastered speaking in English in a perfect sentence though she did stop mid way to fix herself there,"Subarashī shigoto Shimako-san!" Shimako thought giving herself a pat on the back - not literally - as she mentally grin like a fool at her accomplishment.

Late Afternoon | Alleyway behind Soul Food | RavenStrong vs Hollows

Well this was certainly different. And rather terrifying. Despite that Puck outwardly remained calm. Years of working and living with wild and often hurt and frightened animals has taught them a thing or two. And no sudden movements was a big one. But inwardly Puck was far from calm. Their mind was going a mile a minute trying to assess the situation. Those certainly weren't like any canidae they've ever seen, and that's saying something. They also weren't acting like a typical predator would. Usually a pack would isolate the weakest link and take it out, not attack the strongest outright. It made absolutely no conceivable sense to them, and that wasn't even touching on the fact that they were translucent!
Puck's rapid yet seemingly endless line of thought came to an abrupt halt when the creature's blood splattered everywhere, and they mentally scolded themselves for zoning out again, especially at a time like this! Looking around, it seemed like some of the others were readying to fight back as well, but in this case Puck was useless. Sure they were skilled with a bow an arrow but there was nothing of the sort at hand. What a dreadful situation to be in.

The two Hollows accompanying their alpha took to Kaivant's sides, swinging their clawed hands down at his side. Anderson's Honda came to a rolling halt, the grit scattered about the asphalt scrunched underneath the tires as the car parked on a two-way road. The neighborhood was lined with upper-middle class housing and the area was quiet and controlled. Damian found a certain bliss about being here. The cleanliness of the streets, attractive homes, and still atmosphere was calming. The feeling was mired when he realized he was here on Host business. He prayed the task wouldn't disturb the placidity of the community. Anderson exited the car, Damian followed behind. At the stop sign at the end of the corner stood Booker. He looked like he fit right in, usually the guy who has the jobs of actively looking for Hollows in the midst of commoners. Anderson approached his comrade and friend with a greeting head nod. Booker returned the gesture. "So, Booker. You said there's something making your nose itch?" Booker flicked the tip of his nose with the second digit of his index finger. "Yeah, I'm catching a reeeaaal heavy whiff of something. Down below." Anderson's face balled up. "Below?" "Yeah... Sewer system below." Anderson groaned, Damian's brow arched. "You're joking?" Anderson asked. "Nose doesn't lie." Damian curved his lip. In the the split moment he heard where this Hollow may be resting, he had already told himself that this was what he'll have to put up with today. Booker turned his gaze down to Damian, spotting the obvious disdain behind the indifferent expression he wore. "Heh, guess you're even less excited huh, Damian?" Damian simply blew from between his lips, the flapped like a horses. "Lets just... Not stand in the water." Booker chuckled, trying to keep the party optimistic. "Well hey, if you get wet more reason to lay into the Hollow for choosing such a horrible hiding place." "You're right." Anderson replied. "Alright, how do we get down?" Booker pointed to the manhole cover at the center of the street. "You- Booker." "I'm not joking. Unless you want Damian to blast his way down there." "I'd truly rather not." Booker shrugged his shoulders. "Then it's settled. We just have to be quick about it." Anderson sucked his teeth and shook his head. ""If we get arrested.." "Oh we won't. Police never patrol up here. It's too high brow. We've got a little bit of time before the rush hour, so lets not dawdle." Booker walked down the street and casually lifted the manhole cover with little care over whether or not he was seen. Anderson followed behind Booker at a steadfast pace and began climbing down the ladder into the sewers, Damian followed behind.

...

In the sewers, Booker led the way, smelling the air for traces of the Hollow. Along the walls and roof of the sewers were deep slash marks and imprints of large, scythe-like fingers. As they trio continued the more unnerved they became. The scale of this Hollow turned out to be immense. Damian scanned the surroundings in hopes of catching the beast before it caught them, though the sewers remained alarmingly quiet. "Wait." Booker commanded, stopping immediately. "It's nearby, very clo-"

From around a corner thick, elongated pointed fingers grasped the edge of the wall and pulled itself into view. A large Hollow twice the size of a full grown human male, armored in a dark exoskeleton with a series of sharp peg-like legs along the sides of its insect abdomen, totaling in eight. The beast slowly inched around the corner, gawking at the three with it's rows of beady eyes. It tilted its head before opening it's salivating gaping maw. Opening in hook hook shaped jaws with a long, slender tongue hissing loudly with a throaty gurgle behind it. "Shit! Do we fight it!?" Booker asked urgently. "It's huge, if we break out in a battle now we'll more than likely damage the sewer. If anything, have things toppling down on us." Damian remained quiet and eyed the Hollow in horror. He was an experienced Host but he could never get used to the sight of Hollows of this caliber. "I'll halt it in place, we just need to bolt for now until we can think this through!" Anderson threw out his hand, it glowed a bright sunlight yellow and constructed an arcane circle that slowly escaped from his palm and popped. The Hollow was glazed in yellow light, ultimately stuck in place. The trio retreated from the beast as quickly as possible before the time ward despelled. As the three ran Damian heard a faint voice in the back of his mind. "Why are you running? Your father is being far too cautious. Leaving it alone now will only pit the humans above in more danger. They don't have the time to wait on you lot to return with a ready team. Stand your ground. The three of you are enough." Damian groaned, continuing his sprint looking over his shoulder as the yellow light was slowly beginning to fade. "Warden! We'll risk exposing ourselves and the monste-" "Wouldn't you run that risk more by bringing reinforcements. Think about this. Booker may not be offensively sound, but my power can eat through that tough carapace. You need to stop undermining your ability." Damian festered over Warden's words. What he was saying wasn't totally wrong, and he always felt stronger with his father around. He bit the bullet. Damian stopped and turned around to face the Hollow. Booker and Anderson stopped when they noticed Damian wasn't following behind. "Damian! What the hell are you doing? This isn't a fight we're prepared for!" "Yes we are! Dad, I'm certain I can corrode its exoskeleton, but I need you to keep it still!" "Damian, I can't utilize my time stop in such rapid succession! It's a draining power, you know this!" "If we leave now and bring reinforcements we're just adding fuel to the fire. Just keep it steady and I'll blas-" A loud boom cracked through Damian's ears, the Hollow has broken free of it's timely shackle. It continued its mad charge to the three, hastily catching up. "Fuck it, we haven't got a choice. Booker, you're no fighter stand back." Booker followed Anderson's orders and recalled further back, keeping a safe enough distance to watch the battle. Damian held up his hand and a black glob of energy collected from streams emanating from his wrist to his fingertips. A ring of rune-like text orbited the ball as it grew in power. As it grew, color faded and the area became black and white. Damian took aim at the Hollows chest, the glob now gyrating ready to be fired. Damian allowed the release of pressure, the runic circle began to turn and soon spin rapidly. "Make it count, Damian.." He muttered under his breath. Finally, Damian shot a heavy black spray towards the monstrosity.

|Interaction: Fighting the Alpha of the Pack of Hollows|

Jackson suddenly heard something coming towards him and looked up to see another creature coming right towards, accept this one seemed to be bigger than the others. Frozen in fear, Jackson could only watch as the vague, translucent figure came towards him. For a second he considered, even welcomed, the idea of letting this thing kill him and ending his pain and suffering. But then he remembered his friends, how they had screamed, how they had cried, how their eyes were so empty. Would the others end up like that if he did nothing, just stayed frozen in fear just like before. The scar on his arm was a harsh reminder of what happened when one gives in to fear. He had made that mistake once, and he wouldn't make it again. As soon as he made that resolution, his anxiety and fear turned into adrenaline and rage. Like hell he'd let these fuckers mess with him again.

Jackson ducked out of the Alpha's way at the last second, getting a long, shallow scratch across his back. He winces in pain, but turns to face the creature, his cross in his left hand, and his swiss army knife in his right. He focused all of his attention on the creature in front of him. He pulled up the knife attachment on the the tool, and angled the cross so that the long and somewhat sharp bottom end of it was facing outward, his fingers closing around the upper half in a fist. He doubted it would do much to the beast, if anything, but he didn't care any more. If he was going to die, then he was going to die fighting his demons instead of running from them.

"Come on, you ugly, demonic piece of shit! You want some this, then come and take it, come and finish what you and your friends started! But don't think for a second I'll make it easy for you. I won't let you fuckers control me anymore!!!"

~[Satori, Hideko]~
|Afternoon||Brookfield||Amongst Dual Enrollment Group|
{Iphigenia, Darius, Kaivant, Puck, Keon}

'Well this wasn't what I was expecting when we came at here.' Hideko thought shakily. It seemed as if the first steps the group had taken out of the door had triggered a mass domino affect and, consequently, a rain of wolf creatures. She blinked, and blinked again. Was this actually real?!

Teeth, claws, howling.

All of the traits of an actual wolf. But-- a snarl ripped through the air and she shuddered violently. That wasn't any sort of wolf breed she'd ever heard of. There was just something completely off about them, not just in the physical sense, but something metaphysical.

"Ehh--" She yelped loudly as she was suddenly pushed back and slammed roughly slammed into a few of the students within their group who had just been slung in her direction. Her legs collapsed beneath her, and she slid to the ground hard. Skin split apart on her hands and knees but she didn't even hiss in discomfort. A detached portion of her brain noted that the smell of her blood floating around the area was probably not going to help the situation in the least. 'I wonder if these wolves like meat as much as regular wolves.' she mused. A quiet giggle made to break from her throat and she covered her mouth with a hand, knowing this was not the time for such a reaction.

"All of you need to remain calm. I don't know if you can see them bu--"

The sound of the wolves overpowered whatever was said and light flashed through the area followed by the violent splatter of crimson. Warmth squelched against the right side of her face and she gasped, hand reaching up. Her fingers met liquid, slightly thicker than water, with a peculiarly heated quality to it. Her heart skipped a beat. Blood. Her mind knew it before her eyes conveyed anything to her and she refused to bring her hand down from where it touched. Instead, she looked out from between the legs of the other students where a mess of carnage could be seen. And still there were more wolves.

Her hand came down and she stared at the red painted across her flesh. It was real. The creatures, they were real.

How terribly exciting!

Hideko clenched her hand into a fist, feeling the blood move and twist in her grip. Proof that something so abnormal was actually in existence. Right with there. With her. 'Sugoi! real life myths come to life!' she mentally exclaimed. Sure, she obviously didn't know the myths behind them-- her eyes glinted, some of the fear fading away as it was overwhelmed with the presence of analytical interest-- but that could easily be remedied. Would he be able to find books on this? In Ravenwood perhaps? Or could she study them right in this very alleyway? Her eyes skittered back towards the body of the creature only to find that it was gone. "Eh?" her gaze skipped around but focused once again on the same area, it had to be there, unless that was part of it's abilities or something?

Mind racing with the possibilities of all those myth she'd studied being true, she almost missed the faint growls from behind her. The hairs on the back of her neck rose and she whipped her head around. 'More?!' Teeth, fur, and claws. Her eyesight wavered and she let out a hiss of frustration as a headache began pounding its way through her skull. The whole ordeal must've affected her more than she had realized. With a quick glance towards where the others she found most of them already focused on the other wolves, muscles tensed at the ready. That's right, she'd be no good to anyone including herself if she was just laying around on the floor. She probably wouldn't even be able to dodge properly. With a trembling hand, she reached out to push off against the ground. Slowly, slowly. Her eyes remained locked on the wolves, even as they wavered in and out of view. When would they attack? The suspense was truly starting to get to her. How long had it been. A few seconds, a minute? It felt like hours but she knew it wasn't possible.

Should she make a sound to draw Kaivants' attention? There were too many variables involved. What if the wolves attacked at the sound? Or if she distracted him at the wrong moment.

'Besides that,' she swallowed, her throat incredibly dry. 'I'm not so sure I could make a sound...'

Location: Soul Food -> Alley
Time: Late Afternoon
Interactions: William, Akira and Nivandi -> Hollows behind Soul Food

As Akira was turning to look at him during the answering of his question, Aaron was slightly distracted. He'd heard a small thump and turned to see the other Armstrong group starting to leave. Oddly they went through the rear entrance of the shop rather than exiting out the front. Turning back to the rest of his group Aaron began to eat again as he listened to the others answer. Only for about half a minute though, as the howling of wolves was suddenly audible in the restaurant. Not too loud, but definitely there. In his entire time living in the town so far it was not a sound that Aaron had heard. And worryingly it was soon followed by the sound of a person screaming. A few of the other patrons were looking around as well, obviously detecting the same, especially those near the rear entrance of the shop. The exit that the other students had just recently passed through.

His brow wrinkling in confusion and slight worry Aaron rose from his seat, "Never heard wolves here before." he said, "Just going to check it out. Sorry guys, I'll be right back." He walked at a normal pace through the shop, not seeing any reason to hurry, but did slide his phone out of his pocket into his hand. He didn't know what the correct procedure was for dealing wild animals on the loose, but 99-, 911 he mentally corrected, seemed like the best place to start. Arriving at the other end of Soul Food he swung open the door and took a look in the alley.

What he saw made him freeze. Just to the side he could see the group of students along with the Ravenwood representative. But he was holding a sword for some reason, its blade seemingly made of pure darkness. There was also a large amount of what could be red paint splashed over him, the students and on the ground. And the entire lower half of the scene was smudgy and blurred as if he was viewing it through smoke. It was then the smoke, to his eyes alone, coalesced into distinct shapes that resembled half-wolf, half-human beasts. At the sight of the threat his body activated instinctively, pumping adrenaline into his system and preparing for fight or flight. His right hand opened and closed rapidly as if searching for something but it found naught.

To the rational and dominant part of his mind, it was a scene that couldn't be happening. His brain quickly ran through the list of possible situations that could logically cause it to be occurring. At the top of his list was his dad's cooking. Next came someone spilling something into his food in the meal he had just been eating. Third, he was currently dreaming, somehow having dreamt the entire day or having fallen asleep eating. Fourth was an undiagnosed medical condition that had just reached his brain. In all of them the scene before him was a hallucination and not happening in reality. His left hand reached out, grabbed the door to the shop and slammed it shut. It was a very loud noise and, for the group's sake, would hopefully attract the attention of some of the hollows in the rear group.

Back on the inside Aaron took three deep breaths and then reopened the door, hoping to see that the scene had changed or was suddenly gone.

(OOC note: the smoke "coalescing" into monsters is just his brain realising they're actual things)

Late afternoon, Alley behind Soul Foods
Ravenstronk(?)

Iphie was perturbed, if not by Kaivant’s cold, hollow actions and the speed that they were ushered out of the restaurant, then by the bleak and immediately foreboding alleyway that the back exit of Soul Foods egressed into. The air had a sense of deep foreboding in it, almost as if it invited ill will or channeled the entirely of the city’s bad feng shi into that single grey alleyway. The little pathway seemed normal enough. It was narrow but clean, although it smelled a bit ripe like garbage on a hot day. Iphigenia subscribed to the idea that bad design such as subtly crooked shapes or low-frequency range sounds often lead to uneasiness and a sense of discomfort, but what she felt now was not even remotely similar.

Was this the feeling that people often said they felt when they were about to see a ghost?

Her question was answered. A blur appeared at the corner of her eye as something dropped down from above. Then, another. And another, until there were seven of them. It took a moment for Iphigenia to register what she was witnessing. Alright, who did she piss off so much that they would send people after her? Why would they involve others? Wait, what she was seeing was not even human. Her eyes finally fell on a single grotesque object. She found herself having difficulty focusing exactly on it, almost as if it were slightly out of phase with their dimension of reality. But its image was still vivid enough for Iphigenia to tell that they were monstrosities that seemed to surround them, not assault rifle and Kevlar-wielding intelligence agents.

Oh, dear. Was she starting to develop schizophrenic symptoms as well?

She looked around once more, and came to the realization that she was not the only one that was seeing the bizarre images surrounding them. What did that mean? The implications were damning.

The next few moments were a blur.

A wretched charge, and a wicked slash.

A vigorous assault, and a valiant defense.

Something warm splattered against her cheek, once, then twice, but Iphigenia already knew what it was. She looked down at her blood-stained clothes, tasting iron. The blood of a beast, and the blood of a man.

When was the last time that she saw blood? She felt fuzzy and warm.

Iphigenia looked up again, her face twisting into a crooked, almost sadistic smile as she felt and heard the click of a two-inch Leatherman knife.

As William tucked into his meal, he answered the question now going round their group.
"Well, my family and I live in a town about an hour from here, same state as this. I live in the dormitories, though, for convenience, and I like having a little independence and privacy, time to myself, y'know?"
It happened then that Aaron excused himself, a strange sound had been coming from outside, and he appeared to be going to investigate, slipping his phone into his hand as he went to the back door, where the other group there had oddly left out of, along with the older guy.
William peered over there, seeing him open the door, freeze, and then slam it back closed, eyes wide, breathing hard. Something was wrong.
"Aaron? Aaron, what's wrong?" he said, concerned for his new friend, briskly walking over.
It was at that point that Aaron decided to re-open the door, after having taken several breaths, and at first he saw little other than the students there. A moment later, he noticed the older guy an impossibly black sword in his hand, crackling with a dark energy. He and the sword were splattered with red... blood. he was covered in crimson-red blood. Suddenly, fading into view, there were six more impossible things. Wolves. No... not wolves... they were standing on only two legs. Werewolves, if you could call them that. Half-human, half-wolf, one might liken them to, if one had the time to discuss such matters before more important thoughts as if they were real, and survival of one's self.
"Wh- what the fuck?! Aaron, are you seeing this? What the actual fuck!?"
As he said this he actually fell over backwards in shock, quickly getting up and slowly backing away.

The sound of Darius' panic forced Kaivant's attention away from the oncoming charge and into the state of chaos that existed at his back. No matter the individual's reaction, enjoyment or fear, every student was in danger from the six remaining hollows, and for Kaivant, it was a matter of choosing the best course of action that would leave them with the least amount of injuries as a whole.
The opposition obviously resembled a pack of wolves, and it was clear that the largest Hollow was acting as the alpha in directing the other five. If the alpha were to die, then Kaivant was certain that the other hollows would fall into a temporary state of disarray and effectively provide an opening that would save everyone's lives. Nodding to himself in confirmation of his plan, Kaivant would quickly turn to face the oncoming alpha...only to watch it jump over his self in its attempt to attack Jackson.
Shit
With two claws quickly approaching both sides of his body, there was no opening to further intercept the Alpha, and the subsequent sound of sliced flesh was all that he needed to confirm either Jackson's death or injury.

"Boei."

From the tip of Kaivant's blade, dark energy began to travel the distance towards both point of contact where it would begin to form into the shape of two thick shields. Upon contact with the barrier, the two claws, rather than simply be deflected, would have been enveloped into the energy and effectively trapped.

"Subjugate."

In an instant, the energy would have mostly dissipated apart from a single black ring that would have remained around each Hollow's wrist. The Hollow's expressions would have instantly softened as if their hostility had vanished, but within a few seconds, the rings would have faded and their aggressive nature returned. Subjugation was a difficult talent, that when properly used, could leave Hollows entirely under the Subjugator's control. Out of all the trainings Kaivant had successfully mastered, subjugation was the one area that he lacked expertise. Nevertheless, a few seconds was all that he needed in order to quickly determine his next course of action. Seeing Jackson, alive but injured, holding a knife against the alpha Hollow, summoned a growl out of Kaivant as he desperately sprung forward to tackle the idiotic student out of the way. Expecting the pain of the oncoming claws, it was an unexpected surprise when the sound of a slammed door, echoed through the alleyway and startled the alpha's existence.

"Sokudo."

Using the alpha's surprise as an opening for an attack, Kaivant would immediately rush forward to stab his blade into the hollow's chest. Equally surprising would have been the creature's durability compared to the former as the blade would have barely pierced through the alpha's skin. With his failed fatality, Kaivant would have immediately abandoned his blade and resorted to a swift uppercut into the alpha's chin. Reaching into his pocket, Kaivant would have retrieved a handful of wards, resembling small pieces of paper, and stuck them onto the selves of all who were nearby. While the wards wouldn't prevent injury unless direct contact was made with the paper itself, they would immediately repel a hollow off any of the warded students, minimizing further damage apart from the initial and dazing the creature for a short time. With the student in a better state of safety, Kaivant's attention would have returned to the alpha as he awaited its next move.

*Sokudo: This is one of Kaivant's several sword skills. It uses hollow energy to imbue his arms and legs, giving both speed and power above that of a normal human.

**Boei: Another one of Kaivant's sword skills. Boei projects hollow energy from the blade towards anywhere near himself. The hollow energy can then be manipulated by shape and density. This skill is often used as a shield.

While Kaivant was more than fine pitted against several hollows on his own, it quickly became clear that not all of his group would be safe from the beasts' attacks, as Kaivant was only one man. From a neighboring building's rooftop, Len readied himself to lend some assistance.

A white briefcase dropped down on the rooftop's surface, followed by the clicks of it's locking mechanisms before the case flipped open, revealing a multitude of metal parts. Len crouched down on one knee and began to connect the different parts with haste. It began to resemble that of a sniper rifle with a retracted barrel. Engraved onto the side of the gun just above the trigger was a small LCD screen, which once everything was put together, turned on with a "Log-in" message in blue.

Len pushed aside the now empty briefcase and brought a hand up to his face. With his teeth, he bit down on his index finger and a slight stream of blood began to trickle down. He laid belly down and placed his bloodied finger on the trigger.

...

Log-In Successful.

The rifle's barrel extended to it's full length, it's tip just peeking over the side of the building. Len glared down the scope towards the trapped group. Steady breaths kept the reticule still. With the pull of it's trigger, a single bullet with small screens ringing the back was silently shot out and sent toward the group.

The bullet would have passed through the skull of one hollow on the opposite side of where Kaivant stood. On contact, the screens of the bullet lit up, and the natural trajectory of the shot was altered mid-flight to fly into the second hollow's chest and effectively sever the beast in half. The third hollow on the opposite end was simply in a bad position as the bullet plunged and stuck itself into the organs of the slightly visible canine hollow. It wasn't enough to kill the third hollow, but it had definitely harmed it in the least.
