My first phone was acquired when I was 13 and purely by mishap...
At the time, I was canoeing with my father on a reservoir. We paddled to shore so we could fish and he asked me tie the canoe off, so it wouldn't float away. During this process, he was still in the boat, and I pulled on the rope incorrectly. This resulted in the canoe capsizing with him in it. Due to the nature of his work, he needed a cellphone at all times and went to town to buy a new one when we stopped fishing. He tossed me the waterlogged LG flip-phone and said it was mine if I could get it working.
Since then I've five other cellphones from switching carriers, shattering screens, and falling in a river. I'm currently using a Galaxy S5, which has lasted a year thus far.
