Name: Tasha Stenberg (she hasn't thought of a codename yet, or even realizes she'll need one)
Age: 17
Sex: Female
Enrolled: New student
Relationship status: She is single, but wants to date. If she can get over her emotional issues. She is bi-curious, but only curious really.
Appearance: Her skin looks as if it could be some kind of stone or hardened clay (depending on your perspective). A shade of brown all over, save for her eyes and 'hair'. She is a shapeshifter, but tends to try to mimic her 'original' form (including the color of her hair and eyes). In what she calls her 'normal' mode, she stands 5'5". She seems to have a fairly petite build.
Personality: She always tries to fit in whatever situation or group she finds herself in. But that is often very difficult for her. She is extremely self conscious, and very uncomfortable in her own body. But this is something she does her best to hide from others, especially strangers. She is very intelligent, but again keeps that somewhat hidden around strangers. Unconsciously, she thinks the less a stranger knows about her the less chance she'll be hurt by that person. But once she finds herself comfortable around certain people… her whole demeanor can change. She becomes more open, more fun loving. When she is nervous, she has an unconscious habit of playing with her hair.
Power: Malleable bio-stone form. Her body is comprised of a form of non-organic stone that she can shape into a variety of forms. She has been known to create clubs from her hands, but she is still relatively inexperienced with her power. It's probable she would be able to shape shift to take on the appearance of other people, but she simply doesn't have that tier of control. She is able to maintain a humanoid form, but this form tends to be with somewhat 'dulled' features. Not overly distinct, rather. Her most basic form looks like a simple puddle of hardened mud or clay. Her body isn't purely stone, or any other known element, stone or gem.
Strengths:
- She is no longer carbon based, so has no need to breathe or eat.
- Tasha can cling to surfaces and move without any noticeable means of locomotion.
- Since she no longer has internal organs or bones, she is highly resistant to damage. Considering how malleable she is (and the strength of her skin).
- Can reabsorb small bits of her 'body' (to a degree). If she were to lose a limb, she can compensate by shifting her body. Eventually her she will gain back whatever mass was lost, but this takes time.
- Tasha seems to be able to control the density of her form, allowing her to make pieces of her body harder (like her hands turning into clubs or maces), or allowing her to become as nearly as viscous as mud.
- Tasha always tries to be optimistic, to try and play the peace keeper of the group.
- She is very intelligent, and tends to look at situations from a differing perspective than others.
- Loves all kinds of music.
- Tasha can play the violin.
Weaknesses:
- While she is highly resistant to injury (to a degree), she is weak to extreme heat or cold. She won't fall apart in, say, a fire… but she won't be as effective a shifter. In extreme cold, it has the same effect. But she would also not move nearly as quickly as she normally could.
- If she were to lose a limb or a chunk of her body (her hand, for example), she can not reabsorb something of that size. The end of the 'stump' will grow over with a patch of what she calls 'marble'. The lost limb will also turn into 'marble'. Eventually the marble patch on her body will dissipate, replaced by new and healthy 'skin', mass.
- She has a limited amount of mass to work with. She can extend her body, but only as far as her mass will allow her. If she stretches herself to thin, she could potentially become dangerously brittle.
- She sheds. Sometimes where she has been will have traces of an approximation of silica. Usually it isn't noticeable, but can be worse on some days. To the point you could tell when she's been in a room or sitting somewhere by the bits of 'sand' left in her place.
- Her form's cohesion seems to be connected to her emotional state. And if she is experiencing emotions that are considered 'negative', her shedding will get worse.
- Often Tasha is embarrassed by her powers, and hesitant about them in front of others.
- Very self conscious, to the point of it being almost paralyzing to her.
- When she shape shifts, she can only shift her own body. So whatever clothes she is wearing are either destroyed or just fall off. When she shifts back to her humanoid form, she is effectively naked until she retrieves something to wear. Which makes her feel even more self conscious.
- With how inexperienced she is (in life and in battle), she can become rattled easily. She adapts well to situations, but sometimes she tends to just shut down.
Bio: Tasha Stenberg was born 17 years ago to Michael and Kara Stengberg. She has 3 brothers (Luke (oldest sibling), Jacob and Ross), and she is the youngest of them. She had a very good childhood, a loving family. She never wanted for anything in her life. She was very popular in school, she even lead the cheerleading squad for Benson High School for a couple of years (go Bobcats!)
She grew up in Pomerene, Arizona. Her whole life has been spent on her family's farm at the base of the Dragoon Mountain Range. It's a horse farm and ranch, to be accurate. While her family was rather well off, she was still taught the importance of work and service to others. And these are lessons she never took for granted.
But it was almost 2 years ago when everything changed, when her life broke. It was her first date, a date with a boy she has had a crush on since middle school. For her, the night ended far to soon. The boy, Scott, escorted her home. They kissed goodnight, but she wanted to do more than just kiss. But he relented (he knows her father was well armed), and he left her there on the front porch of her home. The next morning she awoke to devastating news. Scott was in a car accident, and he didn't survive. An accident just 5 minutes from her home, a group of boys racing along the street struck his car. They said he died instantly. Tasha just shut down. For days she just sat on her bed staring out the window of her room towards the not so distant mountains. On the fourth day she went to sleep (cried herself to sleep once again), and when she woke up… something was terribly wrong. She tried to get up out of bed… but she just couldn't. Almost immediately she slid off of her bed and onto the floor. Well it was less sliding and more pouring. She was horrified to find her whole body was now seemingly made of what she could only describe as mud, and she was melting. She tried to scream, but her body couldn't make the sound. It sounded more like gurgling. Her father eventually found her, having come to check on her. He almost had a mental breakdown then and there seeing the thick puddle of mud trying to reach out to him, trying to beg him for help.
She was like that for almost an hour, but eventually she was able to pull herself together. Literally. She was able to control herself enough to form into an approximation of her former self, even her long red hair. But her features were… hollow. Like a mannequin. She was locked in her room while her parents tried to figure out what to do. She could hear them through her door… they were debating whether to call the police, the national guard or a priest. She once more started to panic, her parents were
horrified of her…
she was horrified of her! Struggling with indecision, her door was abruptly unlocked and her older brother rushed into the room. He dropped a backpack at her feet and ordered her to run. To climb out the window and just go. She begged him not to send her away. But Luke was looking out for his little sister. He knew if she stayed… she was in more trouble than she already was. He knew their parents were going to try to either lock her up or just end her. They thought they were dealing with some inhuman thing. And some would agree. So Luke embraced Tasha, and she was barely able to keep herself 'solid' as they embraced. As she said goodbye to her protector. Luke was always there for her, for all of her other brothers (she was the only girl of the 4 children). So when he told her to run… she knew she had to run. Tears streaming down her now stone cheeks, she climbed out her window and ran. Literally.
It's been a year and a half since Scott's accident just outside of the ranch she grew up on. And finally.. she has made her way to New York. She had heard of a place for… people… like her. For those cursed as she seems to be. A school. Having had contact with said institution, she is about to begin her first day…
