Why do we have a race and history option if we have to be human and have no real backstory
 
Why do we have a race and history option if we have to be human and have no real backstory
The race option was filled in human so people wouldn't make other races to start. And the history was filled to let people know that vanguard do not have a history.

Also, I've given this hint to basically everyone, so I guess I'll just say it here. Your race might not necessarily remain human.

General Personality: Sato is a man of… Many oddities. In any social situation, you'd probably not see him talk. He's actually a man of action more than words, but there are times where he won't stop talking. Sato is unpredictable with things like this. And because of how different his nature is, he also views himself as a different being than other humans. Almost as if he's an alien. Sato alienates himself from people for this sole reason, and at times, it may seem a bit hard to communicate with Sato. Sato always keeps his bag close, like he would die if it left his side. He is never seen without it, even while sleeping, and if people touch it, they should be wary because they would be an arm-less.
Inner Personality: As stated before, Sato views himself as an alien to others. He thinks that since his personality is so different from others, he doesn't belong. Sato believes that only plants care about him and that they only truly understand him.

You exist to hold onto the memory of the places and people you meet, and allow those things to exist. You have no birth-parents, nor any history that shaped your personality or worldview. How I understand it.
There are X amount of vanguards (X representing a finite number in the lore).

Data on the world, and therefore the actual shape/design of the world, is stored in the memories of the vanguards. When/if a vanguard dies/loses memories/has memories altered in any way, shape, or form; the world will change based on whatever happened to those memories since the memories make the world a reality.

Vanguards can reproduce like normal humans. However, said offspring do not hold the same powers as the vanguards. So the number of people in the world is not necessarily finite. We can make more people the old fashioned way. However, the number of vanguards will always remain X. Like Noah's Ark. After they get off the boat, it's their job to repopulate.

Right now race is set as human so we don't have lizard-folk, mole men, aliens, immortal constructs and whatnot running around. However, human-centric will probably not last.

We don't start off with a history, because we were just created with no memories. However, I believe we may expand on that at a later time when we actually do stuff.

Am I leaving out anything?

X = the number of gods = number of players = subject to change

Also, vanguard hold all world data, not just geography. If we lose an important person or custom, the world will also change to reflect this. Also, Vanguard can find people and customs in the same way they find geography. Gods can create whatever they can all agree on, and this includes other lifeforms.

The entire world changes to fit the world that the vanguard know. Even if we went from a low tech medieval setting to a high tech space utopia, the forces of the world would conspire to somehow let the two exist together.

The current generation of vanguard is human and they are all the life that exists, but there could literally be anything just outside the door. So emphasis on the right now.

Also, as strange as this sounds, we left the history and race slots in, partly because they can be modified. It was just important for undisclosed reasons that we had our beginnings this way.
 
Sorry for the bit of abscence, I've been meaning to remake/edit my character a bit but have been super busy lately. I'll have a perfected character up by tomorrow.

Current Goal/Purpose: To study, study and study. And once he's done studying, he will commence his final goal...
Talents: Very intelligent. Not exactly charming, but knows what can push your buttons or tickle your fancy.
Inabilities: He tends to be too serious at times, which can make others uncomfortable.
Fears: Others getting in the way of his studies (and secretly, his loved ones getting hurt).
General Personality: Very serious, with no interest in anything except studying. He likes to take the easy way in (or out) though, but at times can get...creative. Speaking of which, he is in fact very intelligent and upon meeting him it will be obvious, as by the way he talks and how he can treat you.
Inner Personality: On the inside, Trinox truly does feel for his loved ones. Though at first he may not...have any, he truly is lonely and cold on the inside, feeling an emptiness. Though all he knows is that he must carry on with his studies, he knows for a fact inside of him that there is in fact much more to his existence than this.
Secret: His secret goal, to discover the ultimate beast and assimilate it. But also the need and want to know how it feels to have emotions and loved ones, even though on the outside he doesn't seem like it.

General Personality:

Mana Arc, commonly referred to as simply Arc, is a veritable go-getter. She boldly steps into the unknown, confident to turn a pragmatic situation into a profitable one. She tends to act during darker hours, considering her skin's allergy to light. When she does walk under the light of the sun, she tends to walk about in a suit of armor. She's a rather sociable person but, despite her proactive personality, Arc often fails to initiate meaningful social contact because she is usually too deeply rooted to whatever project she is currently working on.

Inner Personality:

Arc loves people. A lot of what she does is for the benefit of others. She finds satisfaction in the pleasure of people. This drives her ego. She won't say it.

Secret:

Arc refuses to admit that she enjoys the company of people more than the work she does for others. The reason she wants to create communities is in order to revel in them herself. She feels like the endeavor is, in the end, to please her self and not truly because she cares about others.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
General Appearance
Darius is a stocky lad, standing at 5'7 with curly brown hair and faint freckles spotting his face. His eyes are similarly brown, and he has a very sunshine-y smile, the type that looks like it could scare away a storm. Despite not actually having any sort of past experience with being a craftsman or a soldier or whatever else, his hands are thick-skinned and callused, while his upper body strength is nothing short of insane for someone of his size.

Darius doesn't have any particularly abnormal fears. Monsters scare him, death scares him, fire scares him, spooky sounds scare him, but all that is normal for humans.
He just doesn't have anything particularly odd that he's afraid of.

General Personality:
Darius Jacks is a cheery, merry, happy young man who goes about doing whatever he wants with a big smile on his face. Rarely holding back his words, he carries his heart on his sleeves, and, while he understands the value of tact, he only goes out of his way to use it when he feels like it. The type of person to take everything in stride, he could be considered someone with a very grounded, rational mind, despite how emotional his reactions are. Darius adapts quickly, gets over things quickly, and doesn't stop to reconsider his decisions whenever he meets a dead end. If there's a goal to be achieved, he'll keep on pressing towards that goal, regardless of the impossibilities.

Inner Personality:
Darius likes to be entertained. It's what he seeks, and it's what he lives for. Nothing else has quite as much value. Oh yeah, but smiles are important too. They're very important to him.

Secret: Nothing. A secret isn't a secret if it's obvious all along.
Extra:
While he's generally talented in handicrafts, Darius's talent blossoms when it comes to metal work. One could almost call it magical, as if he was manipulating malleable metals with his mind alone…except, of course, he's using a hammer for it.

    Will stands at 5'10" (178 cm) and, despite having a perfectly healthy body, weighs a unnaturally light 110 lbs (50 kg). Will is a snow-white haired, fair-skinned, golden-eyed creature of uncanny attractiveness. Their white hair is very long and wavy, with the longest strands reaching below Will's waist. Will has wide-set, upturned eyes. The most prominent feature of Will's eyes are their lack of pupils, instead being solid golden circles on white orbs. This adds to Will's mystical charm and may help explain why Will can always see the Vanguards, but cannot see the world they discover. Other than their inhuman eyes, the rest of Will's face stays human. An upturned nose, a wide mouth with luscious lips, and thin eyebrows are their more feminine features, while their strongly defined jawline, narrow face, and large ears are their more masculine features.

    Will's body is slender, but lacks curves. Coupled with their androgynous, soothing voice, one would be unable to discern Will's (current) gender from behind. Will's body is also unmarred by marks or scars, including a navel. Though there is an indent on Will's stomach where the navel would be, it is smooth and unbroken. Will's skin is also extraordinarily smooth and soft, as if it were never damaged by nature or labor. Will generally does not have any scent, save for a slight hint of vanilla from Will's white hair.

    Will's breasts, when Will has them, are an average C-cup.

    Gender: Fluid—Literally (First met as a Female, gender changes whenever Vanguards leave and come back.)

  • Current Goal/Purpose: To see to the Vanguards' success

    Talents:
    Clairvoyance—Will can always see and hear the Vanguards, regardless of where they might be. However, that is the limit of Will's ability, as they cannot see or hear the rest of the world around the Vanguards.
    Strong Stomach—Not only can Will drink anyone under the table and be perfectly fine eating the most unnatural cuisine, but Will can calmly witness the truly repulsive, disgusting, and most horrifying of scenes without becoming upset. Which is important, considering Vanguards can come in many shapes and sizes, not all good.
    Magical Mixologist"This is the best drink I've ever had!" Regardless of the Vanguard's tastes, temperament, and mood, Will will alway offer the perfect unnamed drink for the occasion.

    Inabilities:
    Existing in the Outside World—Will cannot see, hear, smell, or taste the world outside the Vanguard's Haven in any way. The bar is and will always be their entire world, and everything outside of it is a barren, white expanse.*
    Imagination and Creativity—Will's imagination is sorely lacking, thus they depend on Vanguards to introduce them to new and wondrous images and scenes.

    Fears:
    Greeting New Vanguards—Vanguard numbers are finite and exact. A new Vanguard to befriend can only mean an older friend is gone.
    Being Forgotten—Will understands how this world works, so they try to leave an impression.

  • General Personality:
    Perpetually calm and indefinitely patient, Will is an exceptional confidant. Will is as unchanging as they are mysterious, and they may very well only have four moods: content, concerned, curious, and callous. Even then, it takes a lot to change their mood from one to the other, unless it has something to do with the outside world. Contrary to their normally cool persona, Will can quickly become giddy and excited when Vanguards describe the outside world, thought they'll revert right back as soon as the conversation's topic is changed.

    Inner Personality:
    It's an NPC. Their ulterior motives and deeper reasoning is subject to the viewers' (gods') judgement.

    Secret: Will wishes to create a 'holiday,' a day of celebration, and have all the Vanguards enjoy the new holiday in the Haven.

  • Will can always see and hear the Vanguards, though they cannot interact directly if the Vanguards are outside the Haven. Unfortunately, the Vanguards do not share this omnivision ability.

    Will's primary purpose for existing is to transport the Vanguards to their Haven and back. All the Vanguards need to do is ask Will aloud (regardless of location), and a small Wisp of magical fire will appear in a nearby area (and never in someone's line-of-sight). All the Vanguard must do is find and approach it, and Will will bring them back to the Haven. Likewise at the Haven, Vanguard may describe a memory to Will and Will will be able to transport them to the location of said memory. The Wisp, despite its appearance of a mystical white flame, does not burn nor produce heat. It does, however, carry a whiff of vanilla.

    In addition, this ability is strictly between Will and the Vanguards. If any sentient creature other than a Vanguard were to see it, the Wisp would disperse immediately and the legend of the "white will-o-the-wisps" would continue. A Wisp will last until a new one is created, or it is seen by anyone other than a Vanguard.

    Furthermore, Will cannot use their abilities alone. A Vanguard must ask Will for Will to be able to transport them, and Will can ignore them just as easily as they can ignore Will. However, Will's Wisp will capture any Vanguard that enters them, regardless of if they wish to go to the Haven or not.

    Finally, Will's method of transporting people to places from the Haven is different from their use of Wisps. A Vanguard need only describe a memory, and Will can transport them to the location of said memory. The memory doesn't have to be a location; it can be an object or even a person. In that case, Will can transport them directly to the object if and only if the object currently resides in a location the Vanguard remembers. Otherwise, Will can only transport them to the closest location to the object that exists within the Vanguard's memories.

Day after day, she would revisit old worlds and paint them, only to return to the Haven and hang up her paintings, much to Will's jubilation. She keeps extensive records of her memories in journals. Lady Mae is a denizen of Haven but she is not constricted to the Haven. After the death of eight of the former Vanguard and the coming of a new generation of Vanguard, Lady Mae lost her status as a Vanguard with the abandonment of her God. However, her former status as a Vanguard allows her to continue to exist alongside Will. She no longer has the powers associated with being a Vanguard, like telepathy or teleportation, except travelling to and from Haven. [/BCOLOR]
