workouts. whtat do you do?

As soon as I can afford a specialist I will. I'll get a referral from another hospital, the one here isn't worth shit.

In the meantime I'll look up Tai Ch'i

I don't know. Regardless of what 'they' say, taking days off has never made much sense to me. I sleep 8 hours a night, how can I rest more than that? I do have lighter lift days though, so I guess that counts.

Taking a day off is meant to allow your body to rest and repair the minute muscle tears that occur when you work the body hard (such as in a workout) it also allows you to replenish ATP stores and such. People do go straight weeks working out and are fine, but again it's more of somewhat a 'safety' precaution because if you work out constantly with no breaks (or at least no 'light' days where you do just a really easy/light workout or light cardio) then you may increase the chance of overstraining a muscle or pulling tendons etc

edit: though if you prefer to not take days off as I stated an alternative is to have one or two days of simply 'light' work out such as an easy lifting session or for cardio a light/short jog or if you play sports have a quick pick-up game that keeps you moving for cardio etc...

I used to take Martial Arts every Wednesdays & Fridays. It kept me sore all weekend, but definitely in better shape! (:
We had this thing called IRON MAN.
It consists of counting things 11 times through the cycle, then 10, and continuing till you've done each 1 time.
Basically you run around the mat 11 times, high kick run in the opposite direction 11 times, 11 ninja squats, 11 knee-up situps, 11 push-ups, 11 bend and touch your opposing toes and then all over again with 10 each and you do it to a steady beat and pretty fast.
It's what we did for warm up before we actually starting MA.
(:

that reminds me, i need to start my training back upits been slacking since me and the guy i live with (aka my teacher) got jobs.

btw new weightlifting alternative: learn how to fix cars. 7 hours of arm pumping (rows) leg-pushing (squats) part-torquing (curls) wrench-throwing (?) and cursing (jaw/neck) fun later you'll feel great!

and all this has given me different ideas to mix in with my current regimen. thanks!

For me yoga is the best form of exercise. There is a type of yoga for every person. It strengthens, tones, sculpts, and is great cardio when done right. Aside from the physical benefits it calms the mind and helps you control the breath. I suppose I may be a little biased considering I am a yoga instructor, but it has dramatically changed my life. Aside from yoga I love to dance as a form of exercise. I do country dancing as well as swing dancing. It is excellent cardio.

One of the most important things, however, is to be conscious of what you put into your body. I've noticed my metabolism has changed over the years so I have to be extra careful of how I am eating recently.

Ah one of my classmates is a yoga instructor as well! ^_^ I haven't done yoga in a while though *sigh* perhaps once I get my life sorted out and a steady schedule made I'll take it up again who knows @_@

i'm waiting for my metabolism to catch up with my eating habits haha that's going to be 'fun' ^^;;

You should take up yoga again. You'll start feeling the difference immediately. And the great thing is once you've gone to a few classes you can begin to do your own practice at home, so it works more around your schedule.

*Hope has now gained ten points for partaking in swing dancing* You are officially more awesome! :DD

I'm being force pushed by my significant other to work out every day. I could convince her out of it...but frankly I don't want to be another 'fat american' like I already am.

So...I'm all for just working out excessively and finding healthier alternatives to my cancerous food habits at school

oh i would love nothing more than to go to some yoga classes again the only problem is my schedule doesn't permit it quite yet, but I get buy with sometimes practicing what I still remember ^^ it's a good stretch/feel when i do

I can't do cardio as much as I used to (Pt is mandatory for us Marius :p) since I wrecked my hip. As for what i do, depends on how Derp my NCO's feel.

don't feel bad GMK. on drill weekends we have mandatory PT as well.

granted we head straight for a shipmate's berthing quarters and sleep instead...............

I need to start working out again!

I used to always be in a sport every year, usually softball or volleyball. One thing that I think is a great excercise that I just could not get through lol, was Indian wind sprints.

That shit hurts.

I love crunches and running; push-ups are a little hard for me sometimes.

Another thing I've started doing as of late again is just turning on the music and dancing for a while.

I NEED TO GET BACK INTO PILATES AND BELLY DANCING!

*Hope has now gained ten points for partaking in swing dancing* You are officially more awesome! :DD

Isn't it great?? Most people underestimate it and think it's weird but it's one of the coolest dance types. Check this video out for example. These two are the best West Coast Swing dancers in the world right now.

My cousin and her husband did a swing dance routine for their first dance at their wedding. It was quite epic. Especially since she was still in her wedding gown XP quite fun to watch. I'm not coordinated enough to dance haha maybe with LOTS of practice but i'd probably end up killing someone with my luck haha

My dancing abilities consist of shuffling my feet and grabbing her butt.
