Wolf's Pride

Mako kept to himself, the new rank had made him feel a bit more proud but not by much. He was essentially still an Omega in his head, he would still stay away. It wasn't that he was shy, it was that he was a born loner, a sad soul who simply stayed on the outskirts.

Ash stayed around, keeping an eye over his mate while she slept but he allowed her to enjoy the company of her friend.

Kira began to explain, "The first rule is that when you hunt, you bring the food back to the rest of the pack, and the alphas eat first. My mate and I are careful not to eat too much, and we always leave lots of meat for the rest of the pack. Another rule is that you are respectful to the rest of the pack at all times."

Yanzee had fallen asleep at the side of the cave, and the elderly wolf then awoke. She stood slowly and padded over to the Alpha Female. "Good morning, Alpha." She said respectfully. "Good morning, Saskia."

Red was curled up at the foot of a treet nearby, and her tail twitched as she slept. Her red fur rippled in the light morning breeze.

Saskia attempted to look remorseful about eating her kill, but it fled her expression quite quickly. The fox wouldn't have fed two, it barely filled her up. She nodded calmly as the female stated her rules. Respectful she could be. She nodded to the elder as she approached, "Good morning." Morning already? Saskia had been running for days, she'd lost track of time. She paused, making sure the alpha had nothing more to say before she spoke. "I appreciate you laying out the rules. For now, if you don't mind, I'd like to go find a place of rest?" She was now realizing just how tired she was. Her limbs were weak, especially from the last burst of energy she'd used to take down the fox. She yawned, expressing it further.

Kira nodded, and inclined her head towards the den. "There should be space in there for you to rest." She smiled, and then padded away, headed for the nearby river to drink.

Yanzee stretched her muscles, and then padded off into the trees - she needed some time to herself to calm herself and to prepare herself for the long day ahead.

Saskia looked warily at the den before shaking her head. "I'll be fine in the woods." She gave one last nod to the alpha before turning her back and trotting towards the woods. She preferred heavily shaded areas, being out in the open with wolves she'd yet learnt to trust was bad enough without sleeping by them. Although it may have been the wrong decision, what if her pursuers were still sniffing around? Finally, once satisfied with a spot she'd found under an escaped root of an old oak - almost like a little cave in itself - she tucked her legs under her and curled up. It didn't take long for her to fall asleep.

Zarn was laying on his side under a tree next to the den. He lifted his head sleepily to the voices, without opening his eyes. He held his head there for a moment, before dropping it back onto the ground.

Saskia woke up with a startle and involuntary yelp. Her back was raised, hair on end. Something was watching her. A chill ran down her spine, nightfall already? She couldn't tell, the forest was thick enough to cover any sky above. She looked around her, listening. She'd yet to crawl from her chosen den, instead she made sure no threat was waiting for her. Her nose to the air, she breathed in the scent. All she could get was the rich earth and natural aromas. Nothing dangerous, nothing at all. She inhaled deeply, perhaps it had been a dream all along. But she didn't move just yet, she took a few minutes, calming herself before crawling from her den and allowing the slight breeze to ruffle her fur. Nose to the ground, she cautiously made her way back to the pack den.

Kira waited by the mouth of the den for the pack to all awaken and come together. She glanced back into the den at her mate, and smiled softly. She then looked around at the few other wolves who were there, and she whined softly with affection for them. They were her family, and she loved them all.

Yanzee broke into a soft run after a while, and just ran in a circuit around the forest. After a short time though, she returned to the den, tired out from her run. She slowed to a trot as she approached the stone den and finally stopped beside the Alpha Female.

Red awoke at that point, and stretched out on the ground. Her ears pricked up and she barked a welcome to the present wolves. She stood and padded over to sit in her place opposite Kira.

Ash woke with a yawn and a whine while he stood and stretched, his eyes glancing up to his mate before he approached and brushed his muzzle under her neck in affection. "Good morning my love." He spoke with a smile and a nuzzle before he looked out into the dawn.

Mako had been sleeping outside the den, his golden eyes opening with the dawn light. A long yawn came from his lips while he too stood and shook out his fur, brambles and sticks flying out of it.

Kira glanced at him, and smiled. She nudged him with her nose, and replied, "Good morning. Sleep well?" She glanced over and watched Mako awaken. "Shall we gather the pack?"

Adsila had gone out last night and ran around the den making sure no on was coming through and that it was safe, Adsila had fallen asleep in a bush and awoke to birds singing and got up yawning and then made her way back to the den

Kira smiled, and she made her way over to her approaching friend. "Morning. Sleep well?" She nudged her friend gently with her nose.

Adsila smiled and licked Kira face "Morning, in a bush it wasn't that great" Adsila said and laughed a little "What about yourself?" Adsila asked and yawned

Kira smiled, and padded back to her spot in front of the den between her mate and Yanzee. "Excellent." She sat down and smiled at Adsila. "We are waiting for the rest of the pack to gather."

Adsila nodded and moved towards the den a little and just lay down in the grass and rested her head on her paws and closed her eyes a little still tired

Saskia watched from the sidelines as the pack gathered, she remained a comfortable distance from everyone, yawning. Her fur was matted with sweat, evidence of her terror, she licked at it - cleaning - as she waited to see how this pack would start their day. She remembered most of them from earlier, particularly the one closest to the cave. Mako, was it? The omega that had tried to intimidate her. Brazen, he'd seemed. She snorted at the memory. Thinking back, if the positions were reversed Saskia would have tore a strange wolf limb from limb if they had nothing to offer her. Amusingly that's how her pack was run back then. One of the most feared family of wolves there were. She wondered if any of these wolves would soon come to recognize her. She shrugged merely at the thought and lay down, eyes lazily watching around her.

With a bit of effort, Zarn got up to a standing position. He was, as every morning, not the quickest to wake up. He more or less staggered to the den, while still keeping a respectable distance, and sat down, his eyes barely open.
