Where you from?

Hey, guys!
Not to appear ultra creepy, but where are you from? We don't want any addresses, towns, etc. Nothing too personal.

Whatever you're comfortable with sharing! We can then get to know each other's cultures and ask questions that we've always wanted to know about certain countries. But of course, only pleasant questions/comments.

I'm from Australia. Where are you from?

Canada, Alberta. Land of the ice and snow for six months of the year. Also the oil, and lots of gay closeted cowboys that try too hard to be Texans.

Despite that, I do hold a certain fondness for this place that is my home. Likely nostalgia. Irrational, considering I'm surrounded primarily by two groups: Hardcore Conservative wingnuts who think public health care is overrated and we should be more like the United States which is slipping into a corrupt downward spiral to financial hell... And young upstart wannabe socialists who have zero comprehension of how the real world functions.

There's the occasional gem in the muck, but mostly it's just self-deluded, publicly educated brainwash regurgitated onto my lap. Which for someone with a mental disorder doesn't sound bad, until you realize that the general news media portrayal of people with mental disorders is ah... Less than favourable.

So I guess one could say ultimately that I hold a fondness to the environment I grew up in because of nostalgic memories, but I fully realize that if I took off my masquerade and came out honestly about what I am, the generally uneducated, easily terrified public here would most probably outcast me... At best. One does not want to imagine what they would do at worst. I'd like to move to Australia one day maybe, where @Kadaeux lives. Maybe Kansas where @Tempest lives, but more likely I'd probably just visit and then stay the hell away from Kansas. Ideally? Probably Norway or Sweden, or I might stay in Canada, just not in Alberta.

I'm from the United Kingdom, England to be precise! Born and raised here. I enjoy being a Brit and the only British stereotype I have to agree with is the tea stereotype. I love my tea and I must have at least one cup of it every day.

But yeah, Australia here.

@DoughGuy My brethren! If I may ask, what direction? I'm on the east side, so it's 9:36 in the evening.

I'm from California, I've pretty much lived in the same town all my life.

Yup. There are other Australians here. Hell, three or four came over in the "Great Migration" from the Guild alone :p

@AllOurPrettySongs We will approve if you bring Fosters and no, there will be no Barbeque at Christmas. We would say we are sorry to disappoint...but that would go against the tradition of raising our noses into the air an ignoring people despite whatever constructive advice may be given to them.

And make sure that you visit the more civilized areas, we wouldn't want you associating yourself with the riff raff!
(Disclaimer: I was raised as a Kiwi, more than welcome neighbour! =D)

@iMisterH INDEED! I'M GLAD WE UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER.

B-b-but, dear neighbor, I'm not old enough to drink yet! Give me a few months. And I don't think I can survive without a BBQ.

[Aw man, I know NZ and Aus give each other a bit of a hard time, but I really want to visit. You guys are alllllllll right. (: ]

Now now, we all know that we Aussies, Kiwis and Poms give each other shit enough to make a dung beetle blush, but gods forbid someone else tries to intervene only to watch us all turn on them like a bloodhound :p

We're like a family that loves each other deep down ... very deep down, and expresses it through insults. But get in our way and those bonds bind us all together.

Germany and stuff, I can be as racist as I want to be and blame my heritage. It's in the blood.
