The princess flinched at the roar, covering her ears with her hands.

"Stop!" The silver woman threw an arm out-- holding the guards back, watching the dragon like a hawk. His tail separated her from her charge-- which wasn't good.

The princess had dropped her staff when she covered her pointed ears. Slowly, she looked over her shoulder, staring at the dragon for a moment before looking back to the knights. "You threatened it." She scolded, hesitantly trying to kneel down, trying not to provoke the dragon behind her.

"Beryl." The female knight hissed. "You're going to get yourself killed."

His eyes never left the armored woman before him, watching her just the same as she him. She didn't scare him, not like his sister did, but she held the same ominous power as Elaine had. Just hopefully, not as cruel.

Returning his attention to the princess, the fire in his eyes faded and he watched her curiously. Returning to his snarl only when he heard even the slightest movement from the fighters just beyond his tail. He was weary, there was so much happening in this form that he'd never experienced. The heat growing at the back of his throat as he tried to figure out what to do. Fight? On the off chance of hurting himself more than they ever could. Could he really run away with the girl though? He'd hurt her if he was hit himself and went spiraling down.

As his gaze returned to the princess kneeling in front of him, his snout laid eye level with her. Seconds passed before he made his next move, sitting up once more, his wings spread and incased the two. Drowning out the world around as he looked down at the princess now.

He heard the muffled cry of the silver knight, ordering her men to stay back.

The princess held onto her staff, the end of it giving off a faint golden light in the tent he had made with his leathery wings. She didn't look scared. She looked curious. This dragon was certainly acting unlike anything she had heard of.

"Are you debating something?" She asked. "How best to eat me, whole or seared perhaps? Or are you trying to come up with a plan to escape?"

Debating how to what her?! Why would she even think such a thing of him?! Blu huffed and puffed, certainly offended and annoyed at the idea. Filling their little enclosure with his now, not so little, gray clouds. Is that what was so menacing about him to his family perhaps? They believed he would eat them, well that was a rather disgusting thought. Surely his father didn't taste all to well, and his sister...he wouldn't even attempting such a foolish thing with her. His tail, finding it's way into his sanctuary, nudged against her back twice, his indication of his answer being her second accusation. With it, he gave a satisfied nod. Eat her? That'd just be disgusting, she didn't look to have enough meat on her anyway.

Not sure she'd be much more use of him, he looked down at her blankly once more. Debating his options, though the idea of eating her still interrupted his thoughts without caution. Forcing him to huff out another puff of annoyance, getting it all out of his system in a way that was probably not so healthy for her lungs. His tail, still sneaking its way back and forth quietly, finally brushed against her staff. Bringing Blu's attention with it, he stared at the dull light through the heavy smoke. His head cocked just slightly to the left as he watched to see if it would do anything besides just glow.

Beryl coughed at the fossiliferous smoke he puffed, waving a hand in front of her face to clear the air. It was only a few seconds before he breathed put more, fumigating the small area to the point that it made her head spin and lungs tingle.

"Get the Prince. Go!" The silver woman's voice came again, muffled as before.

The bobbing golden light of the staff was steady, unlike the flickering of a flame, it gave off a constant glow of warmth. It shifted suddenly, trailing behind it spirals of smoke like molten metal, the staff nor resting on the princess' shoulder rather than in her hands-- which she used now to cover her mouth and nose protectively.

"They'll kill you if they think you hurt me." she warned, coughing behind her fingers. She narrowed her eyes as they watered, using her long lashes to protect those sensitive golden hues of hers. "Have you arrived with purpose or by happenstance?" It felt odd to her, to speak to such a creature as though she were speaking to another person. Dragons, she had heard, could utter human words, though this one seemed to be a mute. Maybe the old stories were just that and nothing more?

His eyes shifted, quickly glancing around at the source of noise he heard surrounding them. This was bad, and certainly not the situation he'd seen playing out in his head. Though, nothing was going as he'd hoped it would and now there was a clearly sick princess in front of him as well. There was nothing more he could do about the smoke, but the idea of being surrounded put him into an unsteady panic. Forcing him to decide the outcome of the situation, he reached out to the princess and held her firm against his chest, finally opening his wings up to the light of the room. One hard push, and he, well they, were out the large hole in the wall and spiraling downward.

Thinking wasn't his greatest attribute at this point, and all he could do was brace for the jolt that was soon to come. Unfolding his wings, he gave a loud roar at let the wind carry them back up. Now he had to concentrate on keeping a grip on the girl and carrying them up right, not too difficult. Looking to the sky, he was amazed at how easy it was to move when he had a real reason too. With the girl in his grasp, stumbling about like a flightless lizard wasn't an option, and constantly reminding himself of that, he managed to get them a great distance into the sky and above the city before picking a random direction. One that he would later realize was only further away from his own home, and toward the large mountains that framed the night sky.

Despite herself, the princess let out a startled cry as she was grabbed.

Immediately, blows began to hit the dragon, only to harmlessly be deflected by his scales as he tore into the sky. No one dared shoot an arrow-- seeing the princess in the great lizards grasp. As he tore into the sky the palace burst to live, like a hive of ants. People began to run and organize, orders being shouted. Horns blared around the large city, screaming defiantly into the night air.

The golden staff the princess clung to never stopped glowing. Pressed up against his chest, it felt warm even though his thick skin.

Blu wouldn't let his attention be drawn to the scurrying below them. His eyes scanned the sky's, searching for the one spot with the least activity. In a sense, he was searching for the one place he'd have never noticed before. Somewhere his eyes would never fall on, a place with as little life as possible. The far side of the mountain seemed to be the only feasible location, as he was already headed in the direction and he wasn't sure he could figure out how to turn just yet.

The ride was short, and probably the smoothest he'd had so far, besides the sudden dips and unsteady rocking he'd encountered against the gusts of wind. He was rather proud of himself over all. Now to figure out how to get down. There was a living thing in his grasp now, tumbling down couldn't be much of an option...could it? No time to think now, Blu spiraled down. Fighting for the strength to close his wings against the oncoming current, they finally smash against the hard rock. His back hitting hard as they slide to a stop. If he didn't feel anything earlier, he certainly did now and gave a soft hum to show for it. The rocks got up under his scales and tore through his right wing, possibly pulling the limb from its socket. Releasing his grip on the princess, he peeked down at her to make sure she had survived his clumsy landing and was still safe against his chest.
