Hearing her friends familiar voice, Lucina rolled her eyes and jumped down, watching as
Lucas grabbed his books. One thing that she had learned was that no matter what, he would always catch her, she wasn't sure how or why but he would. Whether it be physical or emotional. Since the day they practically met,
Lucas has always been there for Lucina, through guy trouble, trouble in general. Sometimes she would randomly show up at his house with tears streaming down her face and all she had to do was run into his arms and feel that warm hug he always engulfed her in.
"You make me sound like a dog." She joked, feeling as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and poked her nose before he tugged her along. All the while, Lucina could hear whispers, some ranging if the two were dating, to others saying that they were solely best friends. Some people even believed that her and
Lucas were friends with benefits, but they didn't have a relationship of that sort, they were just way too close. As they walked down the hall, people greeted the two and Lucina waved back, giving them warm smiles. She was one of the few that had the personality that naturally drew people in, she had an easy time making friends and though she didn't see it, there were many people that wanted to go out with her. However, most of the boys at this school (though good looking) had such terrible personalities that she wanted nothing to do with them.
"Huh?" She questioned, upon hearing
Lucas and she glanced down at her outfit before she looked back up at him with a bright smile.
"Oh totally, I have to make you jealous in order to keep you around. If I don't, then I could lose you to some other person and I would no longer have my best friend around. But it's not like that many males are looking at me." She said sarcastically, flipping a lock of hair over her shoulder dramatically. To be honest, she wasn't really sure why
Lucas brought that topic up cause in her defense, she believed the boys were simply staring at other things...and not thinking that they truly were staring at her. And one of the things about Lucina was that she was as dense as a rock. If someone liked her, they would have to flat out tell her or else she wouldn't pick up on the hints. Heck, she doesn't even notice that there are multiple boys that are just staring at her for wearing short shorts.
"Besides, why would I wear long pants on a warm autumn day? That just seems like a dumb idea." She commented, eyeing
Lucas up and down before she laughed faintly and shook her head. When they stopped by her locker she started to rummage through it as she listened to her friend talk about numerous things.
"Oh I love Grandma Nelson!" Lucina's voice was muffled since she was practically half way in her locker searching for something, or putting something up, who knows what she really does.
When she was done, she stood up and ran a hand through her hair, feeling as
Lucas's arms wrapped around her waist and he spun her around before he set her down, her hand in his. One of the things that Lucina loved about their flirtatious, friendly little relationship was that he was one, much taller than she was and two, he was always spontaneous and surprised her. He always kept her on her feet.
"Hmm okay, fine, I'll come with you as long as you promise me one thing." She began as she followed him towards class, swinging their arms back and forth.
"We go to the ocean and then the fair on the pier, I think that'll be fun, plus we can meet up with my brother and his girlfriend." She told him, giving him a warm smile.
"And two, you have to try this year. No giving up, okay? If not, then I'm never hanging out with you, ever again!" She said in a childish way. Of course Lucina would know about his grades and how he ended up giving up. When you are someone's best friend and you spend basically 24/7 at their house, their parents tend to talk to you about a lot of things.
"And anyway, back to Grandma Nelson. I've been meaning to come but you always tell me no, so I'm glad you've run out of excuses because now I can come over and eat some of her delicious cookies!" She said brightly.
Lucina always enjoyed her stupid little chats with
Lucas and honestly she could talk about anything and everything with him. He understood her more than she understood herself and that's what was great about him.
"Yo!" A familiar voice called out and Lucina looked down the hall to see
Jacob, a rather annoying guy who was the star football player and believed that he was all that.
"There's my beautiful babe! What do you say Lucina, you, me, netflix and chill all this week." He said and small female couldn't help but smile nervously.
"Uhm...well you see..." She ran a hand through her hair and bit her lower lip. Lucina always had a problem of saying no, she felt as if she was being rude and that was a terrible thing about her, the fact that she couldn't say no. Lucina cast a desperate glance towards
Lucas, pleading him with her eyes and asking for help as she looked back at
Jacob who gave her a cocky smile and a seductive wink that sent chills down her spine.[/fieldbox]

His blue eyed gaze swept across the area as he searched for his friend. However he wasn't surprised when someone wrapped their arm around his waist and his arm came upon their shoulders. He glanced towards his side and chuckled upon seeing
Madaline. She certainly made it easy to find when she needed.
"Oh of course, I miss you so much it hurt my heart." He replied sarcastically, laughing faintly and giving a shake of his head. He felt as she pressed a familiar kiss to his cheek and heard a groan from some guys.
'Ugh they are dating.' 'No, I think they're just friends.' Those were the usual rumors that he heard around school ever since he and
Madaline became best of friends. Upon hearing her ask for a favor, he glanced over a her and gave a small nod, a signal that she could shoot. When she began to ramble on about going out tonight, or heading somewhere, Quinten couldn't help but sigh and followed her as they made it towards her locker.
"Weeellll...." He drew out, watching as her eyes went into a puppy dog look, and he laughed faintly. Of course Quinten would never say no, he could never do that to his precious friend, nor could he actually resist her puppy dog eyes either.
Just as Quinten was about to reply, his phone buzzed and he pulled it out of his back pocket, reading it over.
Hey big bro, I'm heading to Grandma Nelson's house and then spending the day with Lucas. I'll give the keys to you during lunch. Maybe the four of us can go to the fair down at the pier. Anyway, talk to ya later! He chuckled and pocketed his phone.
"Well good timing. Lucina is going to hang out with Lucas so I guess I can spare some time to hang out with you if I absolutely have to." Quinten teased as they left
Madaline's locker and headed towards his. When they were there he quickly spun the dial and then opened it up, shoving his books and a few other things into the locker.
"So I noticed you were wearing short shorts and tank tops again." He commented as he shut his locker and reached out to take his best friends house.
"And I must say, you're just as bad as Lucina, you sure you two don't raid each other's lockers?" He gave her a quick little wink and headed towards class with her. The halls were abuzz with a lot of the students meeting up with a lot of their friends, some of them that they haven't seen the whole day and others that saw each other probably yesterday and were acting as if they had never seen each other.
"Oh you know, I just remembered. Don't you and my sister have a double date with James Brooke and...what's his face? He questioned, looking over skeptically at
Madaline.
"Cause if it's tonight, then we can forget the plans. It is very rude to stand someone up." Sometimes it seemed as if Quinten was more of the logic and realism in this relationship, not that it really mattered, it was kind of fun to have his heads up in the clouds every once and awhile. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and wondered how they became friends. She was popular, much like his sister (no wonder they were friends as well), but many people liked her and a lot of boys wanted to date her. Quinten could already see most of the freshman staring at
Madaline as they walked past, their eyes going all googly eyed and then whispering to their friends and probably wondering if they had a chance with her. Feeling rather protective of her, he let go of her hand and wrapped it around her shoulder, making some of the freshmen quake and look away. He had already promised her grandfather that he would keep all the boys away.
"You thinking about going out for cheerleading this year? Or are you going to do swim team with Lucina?" He questioned, running a hand through his brown hair. Quinten paused outside the door and moved some hair out of her face, giving her a warm smile.
"Well, it's a shame we aren't in the same class, but I've gotta go. Be good.' He joked, bopping her on the nose and leaning in to give her a quick kiss on the forehead. He still felt rather awkward showing his feelings, even with his best friend, even if it had no meaning behind it, but it was
Madaline so it wasn't as bad.
"If I hear that you're misbehaving, i"m going to have to defriend you." Quinten called over his shoulder as he walked away and headed off towards his own class.[/fieldbox]
