Hunter was suddenly relieved with the fact that they all agreed on french toast--something he was good at making. Cooking had always come naturally to Hunter, so he never had a problem with making his own meals when no one else was home (which was a lot). As the small group of teenagers began bustling about the kitchen, he grabbed some the milk and eggs for the batter. After they were mixed in a bowl, he sort of let the rest take over in dipping the bread in as he searched for something else--powdered sugar. It was most definitely the best on french toast, along with Nutella and strawberries.
With the new found powdered sugar and strawberries out on a cutting board, Hunter motioned for Harriet to come to the other side of the bar facing the inside of the kitchen.
"It's pretty obvious, but what we're going to do is cut the stem-y leaf part of, and then cut the whole berry in half," Hunter explained, using the knife slowly to cut the strawberry so Harriet could see. He demonstrated a few more times more quickly, showing that it was an easy task.
"Now you try."
He handed the knife to Harriet as he sat down on one of the bar stools, getting ready to watch her prepare the fruit. Hunter watched with big eyes and a smile, slouched against the counter in his cute and boyish fashion.
"
Why do we not have locks on our doors."
Hunter looked up through his dark chocolatey bangs to the mystery voice, startled by his sudden appearance.
"
Are we so much less than you that we do not deserve privacy in our own domain?"
The young boy tilted his head up to see a teen, the one from before with silver hair and pale hazel eyes. He flushed with embarrassment, knowing he was the one who had sent him daggers.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't know... I haven't even seen the rooms yet." Hunter said, attempting to muster up as much courage as possible. He knew why the Luna teens probably didn't have locks on their doors, but it still seemed unfair.
"Would you like me to, um, install one for you? If you're really worried about it I can buy at least a latch lock or a chain. Or you could have my door...?"
The last comment came out more as a question, but Hunter was being completely serious. He didn't really need a lock on his, but taking the doors off their hinges was a relatively easy process he had learned.
