Derek had been up for a while, nose buried in a book until the rustling of his half-siblings waking up disrupted him. He didn’t wait for them to get ready for the day, and instead stepped out of the cabin and made his way to the mess hall. Because he wasn’t a picky eater, it didn’t take him long to fill up his plate, and after scraping off an offering to Demeter he made his way to his cabin’s table. After he sat down he began to eat his meal, and by the time he was finished the pavilion was full of campers and his half-siblings had taken their seats. He was about to get up and leave when Chiron called for everyone’s attention, face masked with a serious expression.

A long yawn escaped Anya’s mouth as she sat up and stretched. She wasn’t much of a morning person, but for some reason, she was more energetic than usual and was excited to get her day started. She quickly got herself ready and then exited the cabin, heading to the mess hall with a slight skip in her steps. Once she arrived, she stacked her plate with pancakes and bacon. She scraped some of it off and then sat down at the Poseidon table, which was always empty because she was the only person in his cabin. She often wished that she had half-siblings she could sit with because sitting by herself was pretty lonely. Anya was about to start eating when Chiron had an announcement to make. Judging by his expression it probably wasn't going to be good.

Elijah had trouble sleeping the previous night, and usually when that happened, she knew something was going to happen. it didn't have to be big, it could even be something small, but it was usually unpleasant. It was why she was awake before anyone else at around four in the morning, and she had decided to go for a run through the forest. It was a challenge to avoid the cleaning harpies but she was pretty quick on her feet. Where she lacked in physical strength, she made up for in speed. Considering she had control over lightning, she even earned the nickname 'Flash' which was only partially well received considering her other nicknames that pertained to her godly parent.

By the time she arrived at the dining pavilion for breakfast, she had built up a good sweat and it was perfect for a nice long shower after eating. However, she didn't realise that the shower would have to be cut short because just as she scraped off some of her food into the fire for Zeus, she heard Chiron calling for all of their attention.

Meanwhile, Kellan had been waking up late. The first thing he felt when he got out of bed was hunger, so he skipped the morning shower and instead headed straight to the dining pavilion. His only two siblings that he shared the cabin with had already headed there, not wanting to wake him up since they were aware he could be a bit moody if forced awake before he could wake on his own, naturally. The dark haired male was walking into the dining pavilion while Chiron was speaking and he paused at the entrance, distracted by what he was saying. A quest?

"Sorry to have to disturb you all, on this fine morning," the centaur announced, clasping his hands together and looking at everyone. "But last night, a prophecy was made. Trouble is stirring, and while it hasn't hit us yet, a quest has been bestowed." Before announcing who was to go on this, though, he instead pulled out a piece of paper and began to read off of it.

"a group shall venture into the dark caves,
to find what was taken by the godly slaves.

the child of the sea will navigate the roaring sea,
while the child of the sky will save the other three.

communication is key in keeping together,
while nature will fall with a change in weather.

time is precious, for the solstice nears,
and in this time all will turn on peers.

the key to achieving peace once more,
can only be accomplished by these brave four."

Although Derek had initially been annoyed that he had to stay longer than he had initially planned, it didn’t last long when Chiron mentioned that there was a quest. He had a feeling that he probably wouldn’t be chosen for this one, but he listened closely to each word that was spoken because it was always interesting to try to analyze the words of prophecies. He was so lost in his thoughts that it caught him by surprise when his name was mentioned along with three other campers he wasn’t familiar with.

Anya’s eyes widened upon hearing the centaur’s words. It had been a long time since a quest had been announced, and so he had definitely caught her attention. When she heard “the child of the sea,” line, she knew that it must be referring to her. Multiple emotions swarmed within her as she considered that. While a quest typically entailed danger, a part of her was itching to leave camp and change things up a bit. Since she was a year-round camper, it was rare that she got to leave Camp Half-Blood, and even though she enjoyed being there it was nice to get an opportunity to see the outside world. Her assumption was confirmed when Chiron continued by mentioning who would be participating in the quest.
