"Now I'll relate this little bit,
happens more than I'd like to admit.
Late at night she knocks on my door.
She's drunk again and looking to score.

Now I know I should say "no" but...
it's kinda hard when she's ready to go.
I may be dumb but I'm not a dweeb.
I'm just a sucka' with no self esteem."

Self Esteem - The Offspring

While being embraced by the radiance, I can feel your warmth
From now on, I won't lost, I'll walk in the same light
Holding dear the eternity I keep in my heart
From now on, step by step
- Aikatsu - "Etude of Radiance"

Whenever you smile it's like
Your heart is sparkling at a new discovery
It's like the world has fallen in love
It's quite different, but you love it all the same
-Aikatsu- "Hello New World"

Whenever you smile it's like
Your heart is sparkling at a new discovery
It's like the world has fallen in love
It's quite different, but you love it all the same
-Aikatsu- "Tutu Ballerina"

To you, living in the present
My encounter with you was everything to me
I was so happy...

But I am only a fragment
of the life you will carve from now on

So
Even if you're too sad to see now,
don't look back
Love of mine, somehow,
don't be afraid of falling in love
-Gackt- "P.S I Love You"

Octavarium, Dream Theater

I never wanted to become someone like him so secure
Content to live each day just like the last
I was sure I knew that
This was not for me
And I wanted so much more
Far beyond what I could see
So I swore that I'd
Never be someone like him
So many years have passed
Since I proclaimed
My independence
My mission
My aim
And my vision
So secure
Content to live each day like it's my last
It's wonderful to know
That I could be
Something more than what I dreamed
Far beyond what I could see
Still I swear that I'm
Missing out this time
As far as I could tell
There's nothing more I need
But still I ask myself
Could this be everything
Then all I swore
That I would never be was now
So suddenly
The only thing
I wanted
To become
To be someone just like him
A Doctor sitting next to me
He asks me how I feel
Not sure I understand his questioning
He says I've been away a while
But thinks he has cured me
From a state of catatonic sleep
For 30 years
Where have I been
Eyes open
But not getting through to me
Medicate me
Infiltrate me
Side effects appear
As my conscience slips away
Medicate me
Science failing
Conscience fading fast
Can't you stop what's happening
A higher dosage he prescribes
But there's no guarantee
I feel it starting to take over me
I tell him not to be ashamed
There's no one who's to blame
A second shot
A brief awakening
I feel the relapse
Can't break free
Eyes open
But not getting through to me
Sailing on the seven seize the day tripper diem's ready
Jack the ripper Owens Wilson Phillips and my supper's ready
Lucy in the sky with diamond Dave's not here I come to save the
Day for nightmare cinema show me the way to get back home again
Running forward
Falling back
Spinning round and round
Looking outward
Reaching in
Scream without a sound
Leaning over
Crawling up
Stumbling all around
Losing my place
Only to find I've come full circle
Flying off the handle be careful with
That axe Eugene gene the dance machine
Messiah light my fire gabba gabba
Hey hey my my generation's home again
Running forward
Falling back
Spinning round and round
Looking outward
Reaching in
Scream without a sound
Leaning over
Crawling up
Stumbling all around
Losing my place
Only to find I've come full circle
Our deadly sins feel his mortal wrath
Remove all obstacles from our path
Asking questions
Search for clues
The answer's been right in front of you
Try to break through
Long to connect
Fall on deaf ears and failed muted breath
Loyalty, trust, faith and desire
Carries love through each darkest fire
Tortured Insanity
A smothering hell
Try to escape but no avail
The calls of admirers
Who claim they adore
Drain all your lifeblood while begging for more
Innocent victims of merciless crimes
Fall prey to some madmen's impulsive designs
Step after step
We try controlling our fate
When we finally start living it has become too late
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
Trapped inside this Octavarium
We move in circles
Balanced all the while
On a gleaming razor's edge
A perfect sphere
Colliding with our fate
This story ends where it began

Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know

Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?"

"Her name is Alice (Alice)
She crawls into the window
Through shapes and shadows
Alice (Alice)
And even though she's dreaming, she knows

Sometimes the curiosity can kill the soul but leave the pain
And every ounce of innocence is left inside her brain
And through the looking glass we see she's painfully returned
But now off with her head I fear is everyone's concern

You see there's no real ending
It's only the beginning" -
Her Name is Alice, By Shinedown

"Just enough just to say you don't mean it
Well, when everybody's willing to listen
Oh satellite, satellite skin
You can say what you want you're forgiven
Well happy fucking congratulations
Well everyone, everyone wins

Doing good things but then totally eclipse them
Oh what the use, oh what the hell"
- Satellite Skin, By Modest Mouse

"The only girl I've ever loved
Was born with roses in her eyes
But then they buried her alive
One evening 1945
With just her sister at her side
And only weeks before the guns
All came and rained on everyone
Now she's a little boy in Spain
Playing pianos filled with flames
On empty rings around the sun
All sing to say my dream has come"
- Holland 1945, By Neutral Milk Hotel

"You lie silent there before me
Your tears may mean nothing to me now
The wind howling at the window
The Love you never gave
I give to you

Really don't deserve it
But now there's nothing you can do
So sleep in your only memory of me
My dearest mother

Here's a lullaby to close your eyes (goodbye)
It was always you that I despised
I don't feel enough for you to cry (oh well)
Here's a lullaby to close your eyes (goodbye)
Goodbye...
Goodbye...

So insignificant
Sleeping dormant deep inside of me
Are you hiding away lost
Under the sewers
Maybe flying high in the clouds

Perhaps you're happy without me
So many seeds have been sown in the field
And who could sprout up so blessedly
If I had died

I would have never felt sad at all
You will not hear me say I'm sorry
Where is the light
I wonder if it's weeping somewhere" -
Room of Angel, By Akira Yamaoka for Silent Hill 4

One of the Dutch kings of lyrics is Spinvis. Here's a small excerpt from 'Club Insomnia.'

Translation:

In the silence between words exists a small poem
about now and never
about dream and death
about you and me
about cunt and dick
what would Houdini do?
or Bobby Fischer?
she asked are you scared?
but he was not scared
except for pity
for pity he was
he'd rather be dead
she had kissed him softly
and then she murdered him
with eye contact of the loneliest kind

Yeah.

Also Pink Floyd

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell?
Blue skies from pain?

Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get to you trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange a walk on par
In the war for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears
Wish you were here

Then here's an except from Puscifer's Humbling River, which I really enjoy;

Angel, angel, what have I done?
I've faced the quakes, the wind, the fire
I've conquered country, crown, and throne
Why can't I cross this river?

Pay no mind to the battles you've won
It'll take a lot more than rage and muscle
Open your heart and hands, my son
Or you'll never make it over the river

It'll take a lot more than words and guns
A whole lot more than riches and muscle
The hands of the many must join as one
And together we'll cross the river

Lastly, there's pretty much anything by Shilpa Ray. This is the entirety of Venus Shaver.

I've been lookin' for you
Why do I love you like I do, My Woman?
Lemon pledged and Massingill douched
I bet you glow in the dark

There is no danger when you're a light bright lady
A safety against a black black fog
I see no terror in your unscathed pink flesh

See the terror in me Blond Venus?
Well I sure as hell wonder if you do
I sure as hell wonder if you do

I've got my razors and my bleach
My photographs for the tub
Now tell me
White tiles and pale blue eyes
How many times do you bath?

I'm seeing mirrors kissing mirrors
Wanting you
And I know all the men who scrawl your name on their chest

Scrawl a name for me Blond Venus
My my you're such a big bad blond
Oh my my you're such a big bad blond

You've got your cherry lips to help you smile
And I wish that my burnt brown fingers had the Midas touch
So they could defecate 'cross your clean slate
Now darlin' would you
Care to look like me, Blond Venus?
As I change myself to look like you

AND THEY TOLD US NOT TO CLAP
SO WE CLAP AS LOUD AS WE CAN
BECAUSE THE REVERB IN THOSE HOLY HALLS IS LIKE A LONG LOST FRIEND.
-Big Houses by Squalloscope

Your swagger and your bearing
and the just right clothes you're wearing
Your short hair and your dungarees
And your lace up boots.
And your keys oh
Your ring of keys.

Do you feel my heart saying hi?
In this whole luncheonette
Why am I the only one who sees you're beautiful?
No, I mean
Handsome!
- Ring of Keys, from the musical Fun Home

But last night came a different dream;
a gray and sloping-shouldered thing
said "What's cinched 'round your waist, Colleen?
Is that my very own baleen?
No! Have you forgotten everything?"
-Colleen, by Joanna Newsom (cuz SELKIES/MERMAIDS! AW YEEEE)

Stand here and name
the one you loved,
beneath the drifting ashes,
and, in naming, rise above time,
as it, flashing, passes.

We came by the boatload,
and were immobilized:
worshipping volcanoes,
charting the loping skies.
The tides of the earth
left us bound, and calcified,
and made as obstinate as obsidian,
unmoving, save our eyes:
just mooning and blinking
from faces marked with coal.
(Ash cooling and shrinking
cracks loud as thunder rolling.)
I swear I know you. You know me.
Where have we met before?
Tell me true:
to whose authority
do you consign your soul?

I had a dream you came to me,
said
You shall not do me harm anymore,
and with your knife,
you evicted my life
from its little lighthouse
on the seashore.

And I saw that my blood
had no bounds,
spreading in a circle like an atom bomb,
soaking and felling
everything in its path,
and welling in my heart like a birdbath.
-Kingfisher by Joanna Newsom

"Some days just pass by and some days are unforgettable. We can't choose the reason why, but we can choose what to do from the day after. So with that hope, with that determination, let's make tomorrow a brighter and better day."

Be The Light - ONE OK ROCK

Probably one of the most depressing songs in the world, but the lyrics and the music are soooo pretty.

Hard to choose since much of what I listen to, is for the lyrics (and a combination of a certain alternative metal rhythm, and a lead singer with a tenor voice). But this is still one of my favorites:

Yeah, I get it, you're an outcast
Always under attack, always coming in last
Bringing up the past, no one owes you anything
I think you need a shotgun blast, a kick in the ass
So paranoid, watch your back

Oh my, here we go

Another lose cannon gone bi-polar
Slipped down, couldn't get much lower
Quicksand's got no sense of humor
I'm still laughing like hell

You think that by crying to me
Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe
You've been infected by a social disease
Well, then take your medicine

I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain
Somehow I'm still here to explain
That the darkest hour never comes in the night
You can sleep with a gun
When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself?

I'm so sick of this tombstone mentality
If there's an afterlife then it'll set you free
But I'm not gonna part the seas
You're a self-fulfilling prophecy

You think that by crying to me
Looking so sorry that I'm gonna believe
You've been infected by a social disease
Well, then take your medicine

I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain
Somehow I'm still here to explain
That the darkest hour never comes in the night
You can sleep with a gun
When you gonna wake up and fight for yourself?
