What do YOU hate about Christmas?!

AND THE SHAMELESS CONSUMERISM. It really sucks that Christmas has now taken over HALLOWEEN because companies are pushing their products so hard and have turned Christmas in to a holiday about spending money. D: It doesn't matter if your Christmas is Christian or Pagan, it was never about spending gobs of money.
Maybe so, but I do like the sales. So it's not all bad.

I just wish (upon a star?) that people would get over specific calender dates for things. It doesn't need to be Halloween to celebrate horror, nor does it need to be Christmas to celebrate being nice. I mean it's nice to have a day to celebrate them specifically, I guess, but it's not like I get Halloween off work. When I get back into warehouse work, I won't get Christmas off either.

The fact that I get to be the Jewish outcast of my community and can't find myself a fucking menorah ANYWHERE!

So yeah, fuck your Christmas. I get 8 days motherfuckers!

Going back home and seeing people I knew from highschool.

It's gotta be said, the excessive commercialization. Most businesses just use Christmas as a ploy to make more money.

The persona that Christmas is all about gifts and store bought presents...

"Maybe Christmas he thought, doesn't come from a store
Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more"

I hate all the people that are so wrapped up in being bitter about life and holidays that they suck the joy out of it for all the people around them. >:[ It's hard to enjoy yourself when there's a ton of people around you telling you how much they hate Christmas. ;___; There's a lot of crappy things, but I choose the happy parts.

Thank you for this, Diana! I saw this thread pop up on the Forums page and out of curiosity I clicked on it only to have my heart broken. I don't know about all of you Iwakuans posting here, but for me, Christmas has never been about commercialism or spending money. It was always about being with my family, getting to see the relatives that live so far away on the one day a year they get off work. As a child, I was always so happy with whatever I got, and I still am! I could care less about getting the latest and greatest in technology or games. I'm not a gamer and I'm just fine with the laptop I have - as many times as I think I would like to hurl it out a window. Ya know what? I don't even own a cell phone! Never wanted one! Still don't!

With some of these posts, however, I can relate. The modern-day pop Christmas music they play over and over such as Mariah Carey? I could do without that mess. I love the old classics from the 90's and prior - the music my mother used to listen to as a child that she still has on cassette! "Silver Bells" and "White Christmas" with Andy Williams and Bing Crosby and Dean Martin and Judy Garland! Even if I don't know who a lot of those people are. I know it annoys a lot of people that it starts playing right after Thanks Giving, but it always gets me in a cheery mood. It gets me pumped for Christmas. It is sad that there's so much commercialism now in the holiday and I in-part want to blame FDR for that. But the holidays are what you make them.

The ONE thing I can think of that bothers me about the holiday season is when people say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year." I grew up saying the latter, before the politically correct came swooping in. And I don't consider New Years Day to really be a holiday. It's just the first day of another year, like March 25 is just another day.

The fact some believe the meaning is all about money as well as gift giving. It's not. You spend time with family, celebrate one another if not just this one day out of the year. Appreciate your loved ones. To me it has become too commercial.

The only thing I don't like about the Christmas season is how the malls get so crowded!

Christmas Carol. Who doesn't hate kids standing outside your house singing Christmas songs over and over again on acapella?

How, when you're more spiritual than religious (Brought up in a Jewish-Christian household) with respect for both religions you've been raised with- but only see respect for one.

I hate when people are like "IT'S MERRY CHRISTMAS, NOT HAPPY HOLIDAYS, WAR ON CHRISTMAS, ECT"

I'm sorry, but other holidays DO exist, and usually if you're around other people who celebrate more than just Christmas, it's more polite, but it's up to the person. Just don't demonize it.

I hate how at this time of year, I get more swamped with religious bull-crap. No, I'm not Christian. I'm not Jewish. I don't know what I am yet, soooo please stop asking me if I have a church home. If you ask, I'm just going to say I'm a Pastafarian. Or a Satanist. Leave me alone.

I HATE THE GREEN AND RED CHRISTMAS POOPS

Like for real guys. My body ain't prepared for that shit
