*Scavenger stands nearby counting a stack of money.*

Planned obsolescence, my friend. That's how most companies make money.

This is ESPECIALLY true of automobiles and computers, more so with the latter.

Here there are two seasons, the one where its hot, the other where its hot and wet. I want to live on a space station.

But, if ever that space station runs out of air, or its walls breached, then you're in a lot of trouble.

@McCarthy:
I don't really know much about Dystopians myself. Care to elaborate?

*Carl looks up from the Koran.*

*The Koran bursts into flames at the willing of Allah*

Lets not forget weapons, they usually go obsolete before they get blown up. I thing the ISAF are the exeption to that rule though when it comes to munitions.

In any modern warfighting force one truth prevails:

Your equipment was made by the lowest bidder.

However much of Dystopia's proven weapons systems receive constant upgrades to stay ahead of the cutting edge of modern warfare. Field units find ways to modify their equipment to make them better. Trial and Error is a way of life for us in the Engineer Corps.

There's also another saying that holds true:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Case in point, the B-52H Stratofortress. Long range strategic bomber that can drop a bomb every ten feet for two miles. The payload alone is enough to wipe out an army without air defense and air superiority. Dystopia uses them for carpet bombings, nuclear deployments, shock and awe, and when a parking lot needs to be made out of an enemy base.

So yeah, there you go.

Questions?

Yes, I have a question! What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

I think I made a mistake in calling McCarthy's attention when I was supposed to ask a question to Scavenger... and so... uhm...

Scavenger, you commented earlier about "planned obsolescence." Would you elaborate on that? Since I think this might be a part of some global conspiracy ....

*Stifles a laugh*

Planned obsolescence is just another was of getting the consumer to keep consuming, so that he cosumes so much he becomes overwheight and broke.

isn't that "planned obesity"? ^_^;

well, it might be part of the overall plan, to make people so obese that they can't do anything for themselves, and thus, grow to depend on all kinds of things for them to live, like remote controls and stuff...

it's already happening now.....

ANd there education is ignored to make the masses easier to control =O
