Welcome Back to the Guild [continuation]

"Dibs being first"

The stairwell did little to ease Callum's nerves. This felt like the pathway to final boss. All they needed was some dramtic trumpet playing in the background. Going down and down, careful not to trip and break his neck. The stairwell eventually opened up to a wide room.

Callum squinted, the ill lit nature of the room made it hard to see. Looking down, he could see objects scattered on the floor. It took him a second, but he soon realised it was bones.

His eyes widening, his brain finally decided to alert him to the gigantic furry living thing in the corner of the room. He immeditally turned around, waving his hands manically, a sign to stop any movement. Turning back around to get a full picture of the beast. He realised it was...some sort of rabbit? Or a hare, he wasn't a bloody...whoever studied those sort of things.

Something about the rabbit was weirding him out, taking another second to focus further. He realised that it was somewhat....translucent? As if fading in and out of existence.

The light from the otherside of the room hurt his eyes when he stared at it directly, but it piqued his interest.

Turning around, he opened his mouth to speak. But stopped himself. THe rabbit was sleeping, but didn't rabbits have really good hearing.

He placed a finger to his lips, before turning around and point at the blue light.

He didn't know what this Rabbit was exactly, but he could certainly guess. After last time they attempted a sneak attack, he was certain that this time they should just skip the fight encounter.

So, very carefully, he took a step into the room.

Rae did not like the situation. but she followed after Callum as he went past her, leaving Leon at the end of their little soldier line. she picked her way down the stairs carefully, glancing back to make sure that Leon was behind her. she didn't like the odd color of the fire, she made a little ball of fire in her hand to make her feel a little better. it cast a bit of light on the walls around her but not much. the place frightened her to be honest, but she forced herself to keep walking anyway, following Callum, who made it to the bottom shortly before her.

she stopped a couple steps from the bottom when he started waving his arms frantically. she raised an eyebrow and opened her mouth to speak before she noticed the rabbit herself and was a bit too shocked to speak right away. at least she thought it was a rabbit, it kinda looked like one but massive and ... translucent? she looked back at Leon and mouthed 'giant rabbit?' partially to see if he knew anything about it and partially to get him to stay quiet so they didn't wake it up. she very carefully and slowly stepped down the last couple steps, watching her feet to make sure she didn't hit anything and make any noise, before stepping slightly to the side so Leon could come down. she could see the light from the other room down and didn't like that any better then where they were, but of course, she saw no other exit and they couldn't turn back now, so they might as well just keep going.

when Callum turned to her and started to speak, she almost stopped him before he stopped himself and put a finger to his lips and pointed towards the other door. she nodded and he took a step forward. she looked down and wondered where MK was before she too stepped forward, trying to stay quiet.

Leon hadn't missed the dragon's shift in mood. Whoops. I guess I said something bad. Ah well, no way to take it back now. Let's just hope it calms down if we do what it wants.
"Welp, sorry for the misunderstanding. We're going to enter the dungeon-place now. Please don't eat us, Ba- dragon", Leon stated before hurrying down the stairwell.

Some time later, the trio arrived at an empty room. Well, actually it was only mostly empty, because it still had a few things in it; namely, the largest rabbit this world had ever seen. ...Or at least the largest rabbit Leon had ever seen. Also, it was transparent, something no rabbit should ever be, regardless of its size. More disturbingly were the sheer amount of bones, human bones at that, spread across the room. Obviously lots of people had died in this room before. Who they were, Leon did not know, but he suspected that the rabbit in the corner had something to do with it... Of course, they did come down here for a reason, namely to turn whatever is down here against the Giant Evil Dragon up above. Which meant that someone had to go ahead anyway, something that could very well end lethal. Which in turn made him the only reasonable candidate of doing so. ...Oh bugger.
When Rae mouthed 'Giant rabbit' at him, all he could do was shrug. Simply put, he had not the slightest idea what the thing was other than, well, a giant rabbit. Also, quite possibly not a friendly one, considering the rest of the room. On the flipside, the creature outside the cave was most definitely not friendly. ...Who had suggested this was a good idea again? Oh yeah, he had. In the darkness of the cave, Leon gave himself a quick kick.
Luckily for Leon, his two partners in misadventure did not seem to want to (make him) attempt a sneak attack this time around. He, too, could see nothing good come out of it, and as such silently followed Rae and Callum. Just before reaching the door, he tapped his own chest, then pointed at the door to signal that he would go first.

And so, the small gang of RPers carefully made their way across the creature's lair. The rabbit seemed to remain soundly asleep as the RPers crept past, making no movement except for its own breathing and the occasional flick of its ears.

But, creeping can be a rather difficult task in a dimly-lit room, especially when the tiniest movement from the sleeping mid-boss in the corner makes you instinctively lock your gaze onto it, therefore turning your attention away from the ground that you're walking on. But, that makes sense, because there's nothing dangerous on the ground. There's only bones. Not even MK is on the ground, as Rae might notice if she was still looking around for him. No one had seen MK since they entered the dungeon, actually. In any case, the only other thing on the ground was bones.

And bones aren't dangerous.

Unless a particularly thin and brittle bone finds its way under your foot at a time when you're trying to not wake up a giant monster thing, and it makes a loud snapping sound as it breaks.

Which is what happened.

Specifically due to Callum's foot.

The rabbit jolted awake. It flopped over onto its feet, becoming awake and alert almost instantly. Its nose twitched as it scanned the room for the source of the sound, and its gaze soon landed on Callum. Without hesitation, it towards him, still maintaining the appearance of a normal (albeit abnormally-large and also ghost-like) rabbit — that is until it opened its mouth, revealing long, fang-like teeth replacing the flat-tipped incisors of a typical rabbit. Either thee monster didn't notice the other two RPers, or it was just didn't care for the time being and only wanted to take out Callum first. In any case, it lunged at him, ready to sink its fangs into the RPers comparatively-tiny body if there was nothing stopping it…

Slowly sneaking by, Callum had to really force his limbs move. As they were nearly frozen due to the tense atmosphere. Sneaking by with a monster sleeping nearby felt like all those times he had done it in gmames were practice for this moment. Then again, he had always been really bad at those-

Snap.

His eyes looked down to the broken bone under his foot. "Uh..." He looked up in time to see the Rabbit beginning to lunge at him.

Oh, rabbit, what very big teeth you have.

He leapt back, spawning large iceles behind him. "Helphelphellllp" He said in a screamed that was muted by the fact that had no air in his lungs. Landing behind the other two, he gasped at the sharp pain of many broken bones poking into his back. Though that was probably better then being torn in half by a killer rabbit.

as they crept forward, Rae found herself looking for their guide cat, she couldn't see MK anywhere which was strange because the cat hadn't really left them since he joined the party and had seemed pretty intent on leading them, so where was it now?

She had been pondering that when she heard a loud snap and froze, eyes snapping to Callum and the bone under his foot. 'Shit...' she thought as the rabbit stared at her companion. she was praying it would just go back to sleep and ignore them but of course they weren't that lucky and it went straight for Callum. Rae pulled her magic to the fore, prepared to fight back, when Callum sent out icicles and threw himself back, landing behind them.

Meaning they were now between him and the rabbit. Rae quickly threw out a hand, sending a burst of fire at the over-sized rodent, as she readied her spear. "Great Job Callum!" she cried "You couldn't have watched where you were going?"

Slowly, the party progressed across the room. All was going well, and all was going silent... Well, until the silence was broken by the very sharp and audible SNAP of a breaking bone. Leon's right eye twitched. He should've seen this coming. He really should've. Of course things wouldn't go according to plan; after all, why would they? Of course the rabbit woke up, of course it instantly spotted them and of course it went hostile without any real provocation. I hate everything in this world. Somehow Callum managed to not get bitten in two by the giant beast's incisors, but that was a very small blessing considering the situation.
"Oh, for the love of all that is holy! Can we spend one minute in this place without something trying to kill us?!," Leon complained as he drew his sword and moved a bit more to the front. "I swear, what's next? The very air itself goes hostile and refuses to fill our lungs, causing us all to suffocate?"

The rabbit hesitated when the icicles appeared in its path, and ducked its head down when Rae shot her fire at it. Despite the rabbit ducking, the fire still traveled far enough to reach the top of its head — likely enough to singe its ears and forehead, at the very least. But, the rabbit didn't appear to be in any pain. In fact, the fire itself didn't appear to be interacting with the rabbit's body at all — instead passing right through it.

The rabbit then raised its head, and, unharmed by the fire, it resumed its pursuit of the players. It looked at Leon momentarily, but quickly returned its attention to Callum, as if it was insistent on finishing him off before anything else.

The rabbit approached the row of icicles and lowered its head again, this time with the intention of bashing its head into the sides of the icicles and knocking them all down. But when the rabbit swung its head, its body phased right through the icy stalagmites. Perplexed, the rabbit tried a few more times to smash its way through the icicles, but, it phased through them each time.

The creature remained still for a moment, its decision-making frozen by this unexpected scenario. But, as it sat still, it was clear that the rabbit was already lying directly on top of several icicles, the reflective surfaces of which were clearly visible through the rabbit's transparent body.

The rabbit's pause lasted for barely a second, however, before it adopted a new approach to the situation. Effortlessly hopping its way through the remainder of the ice barrier, it then lunged at Callum again.

To make the pain of sharp bones digging into his back worse. He was getting complaints now as well. "Hey! Don't blame the one who was guiding you two!"

As he stumbled up. He noticed, to his horror, that their powers seemed to phase right through the rabbit beast. The rabbit seemed confused about this as well. "Oh we're so fucked....." He mumbled outloud.

Still behind the other two, Callum trembled.

It paused...which means....

"Don't turn around!" He announced, before clapping his hands. Creating a blinding light aimed at the rabbit. Another thing that his body had decided to do before waiting for his brain to think about it was to start sprinting towards the beast.

A third even more stranger thing that his body had done was to pick up one of the sharp broken pieces of bone on the ground where he had fallen.

He created a rock to give him a platform to jump off of.

Oh please be right about this...

He jumped off the rock. Attempting to stab the bone into the top of the beast.

Rae was shocked still for a second when her fire did literally nothing to the creature, but then it started moving and Callum cried out for them not look behind them. and she almost did look, because reverse psychology, but then a shot of light blasts past her and before she can even react Callum's shooting past her as well as the Rabbit jumps at him.

she let out a frustrated cry of "Callum, wait!" he was however faster then her and he and the rabbit clashed before she could move to follow. so instead she hurried forward to try and help, swinging her spear at the creature since her magic had done no good.

she really prayed, that after everything they'd been through, they weren't about to die to some god damn ghost rabbit right at the end! Not only would that be ridiculous, it would be anti-climactic and as a fanfiction writer the idea pissed her off.

Shrugging off Calum's response, Leon kept his focus on the rabbit, waiting for an opening to strike. Right now the giant icicles were still in the way, but the rabbit would likely be a bit dazed after breakin- Dd it just move straight through the icicles? And did the flame sphere just pass straight through its head without even singing it? "Wha... ," Leon stammered when he saw how the rabbit seemed to blatantly ignore everything that was thrown at it. "Okay, now that's just cheating!," he loudly complained. "Why does a stupid rabbit get true immortality when I have to suffer through horribly painful deaths every time? I mean, come on!" And yes, this was totally the time to complain about something like that.

Still in doubt about what to do, Leon just tried to keep himself in his two partners and the rabbit, slashing in the latter's general direction in an attempt to drive it back. As a result, he ways way too focused about what was happening in front of him to be able to look behind him -- which turned out to be a good thing, because even with his back mostly turned towards the source, the flash of light enough to daze him for a second, just enought for Callum to run past him. "Dammit, Callum! Doing suicidal stuff is my job!," Leon shouted as his partner charged straght at the Giant Rabbit of Doom™. "Unlike me, you can actually die, you know?"
Figuring that he might as well try to do something, Leon charged straight at the giant rabbit too in an attempt to at least distract the beast. After all, having someone ram a blade into your throat tends to be pretty distracting, right?

The rabbit squealed and covered its face as Callum created a flash of light to blind it. This gave the RPers the perfect opening to attack. But, similarly to all their previous attempts, the attackers all phased right through the rabbit's body. Callum in particular crash landed on the hard ground after he and his makeshift weapon went right through the rabbit's head — causing Callum to land on the same part of the ground that the rabbit was standing on. This meant that Callum, although still visible to the other players, was colored with the tan-and-white filter of the monster's fur, as the rabbit's body surrounded Callum like some sort of ghostly aura.

The rabbit didn't seem to be bothered by this. In fact, it didn't even seem to be aware that Callum had tried to strike it. Instead, the creature directed its attention at Leon, who was still in its line of sight, and lunged at him. But as the rabbit attempted to sink its massive incisors into Leon's body… Leon, just like Callum, phased right through the rabbit. And the rabbit tasted only a mouthful of air.

Perplexed, the rabbit pulled its head back, looking to see where Leon had gone — but the RPer was still right in front of him. So the rabbit once again tried to bite into Leon, only for the same thing to happen. The rabbit screamed in frustration and pounced on top of Leon, biting and tearing at the air in front of its face with the same amount of drive and tenacity with which a cat attacks the red dot of light from a laser pointer. But, just like a confused house cat, the rabbit seemed incapable of comprehending the fact that the RPers were not any sort of tangible prey, and so it continued to strike at them despite the futility of its attempts.

And the door to the next room was still wide open.

It was much to Callum's happiness and general continued living that he phased right through the rabbit. "Aha- Ow" With a thunk he landed face first.

Fumbling up, Callum laughed. "I was right! Fuck you rabbit!" He held up a finger. "You can go...do...whatever giant rabbits do in their spare time? Eat carrots? I don't really want to be insenstive- the point is you can go suck a dick!". He laughed some more. Mostly to stave off the fact that he almost killed himself in a really stupid way.

He rubbed off some blood that had begun pouring from his nose. "Well, that's one fortunate thing to us, ten thousand to this shittyass world." He motioned to the other two. "I suppose it's better off we ignore this and get to this ominous looking...door...portal thing."

He started walking towards it. "Honestly kinda hurts my eyes lookin-" It was at this point that, contiuning with the apparent trend of this room. Callum stepped on a bone, except this one was apparently sturdy enough that instead of breaking it. It instead caused him to lose his footing.

He stumbled for a step or two before falling forward. Straight into and through the glowing door.

And he had just started to look cool for a few moments.

Rae skidded to a stop as Callum went through the rabbit "Oh... Well then" she narrowed her eyes, but turned her attention from the apparently harmless rabbit to the room, after a second her eyes landed on the door. they could just leave, the door was open and the rabbit was apparently incorporeal and could therefore do no damage at the moment, said Rabbit was also trying to eat Leon and getting frustrated that it wasn't working. she shook her head lightly at Callum's attempt at insulting the rabbit.

she nodded in agreement to Callum "Yeah, leaving and leaving quickly would be a very good idea" she was a little suspicious of the situation, The rabbit could easily follow us, though she wasn't sure if it could fit through the door. she shook her head and quickly headed towards the exit, keeping a close eye on the rabbit.

she glanced over when Callum spoke and saw him stumble through the doorway and had to hold back as laugh before sobering up and turning her attention back to the rabbit and whatever it was doing, she kept moving forward till she reached the door.

Well, his plan had worked, in the sense that the killer rabbit was now focusing him. Of course, that just left him with the problem of the killer rabbit focusing on him now. "Uhm... Calm down, Mr. Zero Jr. I don't want to hurt you, you know? Pleasedon'tkillme," he stammered, walking backwards. When he saw the rabbit bite at him, he instinctively squeezed his eyes shut, the complete lack of any kind of combat experience making him forget that this is not the best thing to do when faced with a giant killer monster.

As everyone could predict, the giant rabbit's incisors went straight through Leon's flimsy arms, then through the rest of his body. ...That is to say, they phased straight through without even harming him. Slowly, Leon opened his eyes, being just as confused as the lagomorph in front of him. Said rabbit didn't waste any time to try the same thing again, with the exact same results. "Uh... Well now. This is interesting," Leon muttered, just as the rabbit leaped at him and tried to tear him to shreds, with absolutely zero progress for all of his efforts. Curiously, Leon waved his hand through the rabbit as it assaulted him; much like the rabbit couldn't touch him, he couldn't touch the rabbit either. In fact, he was now literally surrounded by rabbit on all sides. "Huh. Well, this is weird," he stated once more, just standing in place while the rabbit kept trying to kill him. If it was just him, then he could've possibly explained the rabbit's inability to kill him by something GM did -- although that didn't explain why everything else was able t kill him just fine. More to the point, he wasn't the only one who was immune to the beast's attacks -- Callum had fallen straight through the creature too, as did Rae's fireball. So why was the rabbit unable to even touch them, and vice versa? ...And also, why was he wasting time thinking about all of this instead of moving on?
"Ah well, at least I'm still alive for a change. I'm not dead, nope! I'm staying alive!" he shrugged, then calmly walked out of the rabbit and followed the other two into the next room, softly singing on his way there and completely ignoring any other attacks on the rabbit's end. "♫ Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' aliiiiiiive.♫"

The players entered a large, circular room. It was mostly empty, save for the large, holographic screen in front of them, bathing the room in a purple light. The screen was concave in shape, with the edges curved towards the players like one of those fancy, ultra ultra HD TV screens. But, as a hologram, there were no mechanical parts that resembled a real TV. Instead, the screen seemed to be entirely made of light. As for what was displayed on the screen: there was only a plain-looking "enter password" window.

The players then heard a casual, unconcerned meow — revealing that MK Ultra was apparently already in the room, somehow. MK rubbed his body against a plain-looking computer chair that apparently also existed in the room. Closer inspection of the chair would reveal a wireless keyboard lying on the seat in front of it.

Before long, MK leapt onto the seat of the chair, and laid down on the keyboard, as cats do. The password field on the screen filled with asterisks as MK's body pressed down on the keys.

Eventually, MK must have hit the 'enter' key — and the words "password accepted" flashed on-screen for only a brief moment as the password window disappeared, granting the players access to the rest of the computer as the main desktop soon loaded up.

The main desktop was not too unusual-looking, although it was clearly not an exact replica of any Windows OS or even of a Mac. Instead, it looked like some sort of custom-made operating system, and the entire screen was covered in the same purple tint as before. There was no desktop wallpaper, either — just more ambient purple light. The desktop contained icons for a handful of programs; "Worldbuild", the icon for which featured a graphic of Earth, or at least some Earth-like planet; "Avatar Creator", whose icon was an image of a reptilian hand that was the most detailed at the fingertips but simplified down to a vague wireframe shape at the wrist; "133t H4XX", whose icon was just a block of 0's and 1's; and "Deep Web", the icon for which was simply the "eyes" emoji.

"Ow" Callum got up from his slip. "At least I know you guys worry about me." He said in a dry tone. Before looking around in the new room that the trio found themselves in.

Looking at the screen, which seemed to be a hologram of some sort. There was only an "Enter password." Looking back at them. "Shit, this isn'-" His concern was interupted by the meowing of MK Ultra. Who, without much care, laid on top of the keyboard. Which put in the password, somehow.

"Oh you beautiful deus ex machina." He commented as he examined the new screen.

"I suppose we just have to click on one of these..." His hand lowered and grasped around uselessly. As if he was looking for something. Callum looked down and sighed. "There's no mouse... How the hell are we supposed to click on anything? This is stupid!" Callum grumbled, what the hell were they supposed to do now?

"Wait~...This is a hologram thingy right? So..." if his knowledge of cheap 2000's movies were correct. His hand pressed through the screen. Not even aiming for a specific Icon. But rather randomly flailing around.

she chuckled a little at Callum's comment "You didn't scream, I assumed you were fine, and I was right" she approached the screen carefully "anyone else getting a creepy vibe off this?"

she'd put her hand on the back of the chair as MK had hoped up into it "Oh and thank you for the help" she said, voice thick with sarcasm "Couldn't have told us the rabbit couldn't hurt us?" she glanced up at the screen, seeing the series of asterisks he was still imputting. she shoook her head and was reaching down for the cat when he must have hit the enter key and the screen lit up with 'Password Accepted'
she glanced down then back up "Well I'll be" she pet MK's head "Good kitty"

she noticed the lack of mouse just as Callum did "Well this is obviously very sci-fi, maybe we don't need a mouse" she leaned on the back of the chair as Callum reached forward, prepared to twist and run if something were to abruptly blow up, or if there was a count-down or something. She also looked back to make sure Leon was alright, before looking back at the screen.

At this point, Leon wasn't even surprised anymore at the fact that the kitty somehow managed to enter the password. Obviously the cat wasn't a normal cat, obviously this wasn't a normal computer and obviously this was not a normal place, so therefore obviously things that should not work could work anyway, because reasons. Obviously.
Shrugging, Leon watched as Callum approached the unlocked computer and started to mess around with it. Not that it looked like he knew what he was doing, but then again, it's not like that had mattered in the past, right?
...Wait a minute. Hadn't he seen something like that before? Leon walked closer to the computer, peering over Callum's shoulder to get a closer look at it. Yes... this interface, those icons... Didn't that icon look a bit like Bassie's hand? And if that was the case... Oh, God.
"Callum, stop!," he called out, even though he was standing right next to Callum. "If that thing is what I think it is, it's a very dangerous thing. I... think it's the same thing he used to do all the things he did back in the Guild. That icon," he continued, pointing at the Avatar creator "is what he used to make all of his monsters -- or at least something similar. I think. I don't know what all the rest do, but judging by the names we really shouldn't be touching this, or at least not just randomly pressing things. On the other hand, we must keep this thing out of GM's hands at all costs. Compared to this thing, the thing he was doing stuff with was just a weak thing. If he gets access to this..." Leon couldn't help but shiver at the mere thought of that. "Good thing it doesn't look like this thing can be removed from here that easily, huh? The questions is though, what do we do now?"

Leon tried to warn the others not to touch anything on the computer, but, by the time he finished speaking, Callum's random hand-flailing had already managed to land on one of the icons — specifically, the Avatar Creator.

Since no specific file had been opened, the interface that loaded up was rather blank and uninteresting — just a dark background, without even a new 'Untitled' document sitting on top of it. At the top of the newly-opened window sat the familiar "File", "Edit", etc buttons, each of which would likely bring up its own list of options if any of them were clicked.

But before the players could think about where to go from there, the screen was assaulted with a mess of pop-up error windows:
