What do you love about your city? Is it the friendliness of the people? The clean air? The busy markets? The nightlife? The local delicacies?

Frank Sinatra wrote a whole song about New York City, and Vancouver boasts a Hockey team that the whole province celebrates; many cities even have nicknames like "The Windy City"(Chicago) or the "Concrete Jungle" (LA)

Every city is unique, and the people of each city love it for a reason; but these cities didn't just spring up fully-formed out of the ground! This exercise helps to construct a city's history and culture. You can use the form below, or write a free-form post on how the city became what it is.

If you do use the form, remember you don't have to limit yourself to short one-word answers; feel free to expound and explain

City Name:
Location:
When was it settled?:
What foodstuffs, landmarks, slang, etc, are unique to this city?
Does the population have a name for themselves? (Eg: Torontonians, Londoners)
What is the city's most popular sports team? (Are they any good?)
If one were to choose three objects to represent the city, what would they be? (EG: For my city, I'd choose a tree for the logging industry, a bucket of asphalt for the potholes, and a shrub from our many parks and forests)Does the city have a mascot?
Does the city have a flag?
Is it home to any national or international tourist attractions?
Why do the inhabitants love the city?
Why do they hate it?
What is it's backbone industry?

What foodstuffs, landmarks, slang, etc, are unique to this city? Spaghetti tacos/Kurgan towers (highest twin-skyscraper structure, serves as office space.) and the Kurgan Mega-tower (Tallest building in the world, serves as a city within a city.)/I'm sure there is an accent somewhere.../Its mountainous location.

What is the city's most popular sports team? Football: Kurgan City Lions (Not Detroit's lions of course!) (Are they any good?) currently have a series of bad quarterbacks, so...no.
If one were to choose three objects to represent the city, what would they be?

International: The Pearl Hotel, Kurgan towers, the first artificial beach, and Propaganda plaza, which consists of a Prop. tower, a central park, and a series of beautiful skyscrapers. City Name: Shekey

Location: West coast of the great continent of Olcoron (Not on Earth obviously)

When was it settled?: 200 years ago

What foodstuffs, landmarks, slang, etc, are unique to this city? Shekey is a port city and is known for its vibrant market of sea food available, mainly the blue fin gulper (a grouper type of fish) that is a staple for the people. Also (not seen in the picture) on the other side of that small cove to the left is a castle that was owned by a tyrant lord. In recent years the people rose up with the aide of a wandering traveler and over threw the tyrant. Also there many herb shops which carry rare herbs brought from the elusive Wizards Island that is rumored to be very close to the port somewhere out at sea.

Does the population have a name for themselves? If they had one I suppose they'd call themselves 'Shekiens'.

What is the city's most popular sports team? (Are they any good?) It started as a friendly competition between fishermen, who could throw their spear faster and longer than the other. Eventually it became a town wide sport, fishermen or not. They set up a small stadium of sorts to hold their competitions. Little did the towns folk know how well their fun and games would come in handy with fighting the lord's army. The best team were the 'Sea's Charm' named after the families boat that they used to fish on. They were also the one boat that helped greatly when the boats that fought against the lord's armada.

If one were to choose three objects to represent the city, what would they be? A blue fin gulper which is almost exclusively found in Olcoron's nothern west cost in colder waters. Rare herbs from one of the many wizard shops. And last a light weight steel spear, one that was both used to catch the blue fins and hurled at the lord's army when the civil war broke out.

Does the city have a mascot? The blue fin is a highly valued fish. It is a big fin that has a surprising amount of fight, but one that if caught can feed a couple of families. The blue fins feed many of the resident fishermen thus it is revered and prized.

Does the city have a flag? It is a white flag with a red circle in the middle. In the middle of the red circle is a blue fin gulper with a spear running through it. (No blood depicted)

Is it home to any national or international tourist attractions? Not persay no, but many young mages come to the city for the rare stock of herbs that Shekey sells.

Why do the inhabitants love the city? They love it because it is a prosperous city with many boats sailing from the far lands to sell and pick up goods. It is also abundant with sea life to support the town and then some. And now that the people have an elected government of sort and have since killed the lord, they love it even more. The town, despite being a port, was always relatively safe with little crime and thievery. Which also means no illegal trade nor slave trade is allowed in the port.

Why do they hate it? They hated it when the lord was alive and taxing the people to death and using the town as his private play ground. One reason they still might not care for it is the winters can be cold and with the cold weather comes vicious waves. Making the sea unsafe for both fishing and travel.

What is it's backbone industry? Trade and travel. It is one of the major ports with feed into the heart of the great continent of Olcoron. So it sees a vast number of people and products.
