Featherinn, where are you? Kwislea asked in his mind, hoping his dragon companion would hear. She had gone on one of her own little ventures out of boredom again. He hadn't been sitting and plotting that long, had he? The sun didn't seem to have moved that much... He squinted against the sun as he shaded his eyes - a sharp pang struck through his head and he realised he'd been in the sun too long. Uh oh. Not long before he'd be talking to himself and drawing attention. Kwislea sat down next to one of the many parked carts and squeezed into the shadow, trying to find relief from the light.

Meanwhile Featherinn was too interested in something she had seen glinting in the distance, and it was also shiny! Luckily she remembered to float around in her smoke form which humans wouldn't notice too easily. At least so far they haven't. The young dragon was very close to the castle now and she noticed some of the humans scurrying around, others just standing there with their pointy sticks and a female one in a hurry. This one seemed cross or angry or... well, she didn't get human emotions really, but she seemed to make the scurrying humans nervous as she talked at the door.
Oh wait, at someone behind the door... where Featehrinn had previously seen the shiny thing!
Excitedly she swooped over to the balcony and saw many other shiny things too. The only problem was there were other humans and, oh, a dragon too. Quietly she landed on one of the many buttresses overhanging the said balcony.
Was this dragon after the shiny things too?

((Yes, I'm kind of stalling XD and I didn't want anyone to think I'd left the rp))

For a few moments the dragon was confused as to why the king sounded disappointed, Eva was always frequently baffled by human reactions and wished that she could better understand their emotions so as not to hurt them. But the feeling went away as she inwardly hoped there would be at least cattle sized animals to hunt in these lands, for as much as the king could supply her diet Eva loved to hunt. Being a hunter kept her senses alert and her claws sharp; she refused to become a lazy hunk of lard on the floor.

As the king threw his air quotations she tried to imitate the human's expression of a smile. Chuckling lightly she sent over, *I am best known as a guardian. I can protect myself and others from harms way.* Thinking for a moment again she then sent, *There are two main gifts that allow me to hold this title, for now I will show you one.* She nudged the king playfully with her snout when she sent, *Attack me* A joyful fire lit in her eyes as if the king's personality was infectious and she was catching the disease. Lying down with her arms crossed she waited dutifully for the King to make his move, eagerly wanting to prove herself.

The king took a half step back, his stance mildly resembling the beginning of someone taking a battle position. "Attack you..?" he questioned the suggestion, noticing a moment later the flame of excitement in the dragons eyes. She wouldn't kill her knew owner.. thought the king, grinning playfully. "I don't know if you want me to do that..~ I'm a lot more powerful than I look..!~" he wasn't joking around at all with this statement. He was taking this as an actual challenge from an presumably worthy foe. His powers were far greater than that of any warrior in his kingdom and he wasn't going to hold anything back. After waiting a short moment, he shrugged, saying in a near sinister voice, "Alright. Then let it begin." Then, every light in the surrounding area suddenly dropped, the pitch black darkness not letting a single bit of light in from anywhere.

As the king’s tone became serious she was confused as to what the change in tone represented. Either way she didn’t want to hurt the king too much, but at the same time she was trying to prove her worth. So as the light dimmed to a pitch black, Eva concluded that she would test his ability to fight a dragon before she used her powers. Because even though she could not see, she could smell his musky scent, hear his muffled movement and faintly feel his backward step. *If I am too much, please do not hesitate to say so. I do not wish to critically harm you.* Eva sent before she made her move.

The king was not far from her chest so quickly she reared on her hind legs and with both pairs of wings blasted the area in front with a huge gust of wind. This was not only to distract the king but more to give her distance. The gust slightly lifted her off her hind legs allowing her to arch down and grasp the floor with her front claws. In a split second she pivoted herself in a way that her whip-like tail swept across the floor attempting to hit him at the waist. With a tail that was more than twice her body length, he was unlikely to be out of reach. Eva could have cracked her tail like a whip but the point was to ruffle the human up, not break him.

The figure stood still, taking the hit then fading away quickly as if made of air. Which it was. The king was secretly using his powers to both send the sounds of his movements to another location and to project an image of himself to follow them. He stayed silent through his next move, jumping onto the dragons front and holding the blunt side of his sword to its underbelly. "Your only weakness..~" he said teasingly, pulling away and fading back into the shadows with only a sinister laugh left to show that he was there.

Turning his gaze back to Sara to make sure that all was as it should be, Eris straightened himself and make sure that he was entirely as imposing looking as usual, even to the details of clearing his mind for even tone quality in his voice and a neutral expression. Knowing that Sara was prepared, Eris opened the door to reveal the queen standing before it, looking aggravated. Eris dipped his head to her in a bow, though he did not lower his eyes from her face.

"Good morn, your majesty. I had heard that the princess was nervous about the upcoming visit with foreign dignitaries and was here to soothe her thoughts. She was unsure of how she should conduct herself and I was here to remind her that she's been groomed all her life for these situations and that she is a very respected princess. She feels much better now and there should be no more worries."

Eris straightened from his bow, lying smoothly and without even a hint of hesitation. He required no real input from the princess other than her agreement. The chaotic tension seemed to dissipate as he stood there, looking coldly polite. The servants in the hall shrank away from the queen's outburst and the efficient ice of the knight.

"It was not a problem for me to console the princess, but I have official duties that I must tend to... if you don't mind?" It was Eris's subtle hint that the queen was in his way. The servants were often in awe of the knight's striking chill and boldness, but dismissal of the knight would be more trouble than the queen wanted to bother with at most times because Eris knew more about the castle's structure and upkeep than even she did.

Queen Leila all but ignored the knight. "Sarafina, answer me," she demanded, looking passed the dark-haired man.

The Darkfire princess put her china cup down and turned to look at her mother. "Eris just answered you, Mother. You shouldn't ignore him like that. It's rude." She wasn't exactly her mother's biggest fan, either, and her mother knew it. Nonetheless, she stood and took a few steps toward them. "What did you need," she asked of her mother.

"Our visitors will be here within the hour. Get ready," her mother rushed her, pushing passed the knight. "I had your dress set out, why is it not where I put it!?"

"I didn't see a dress laying out for me," Sarafina told her, looking around the room. She shot an apologetic glance to Eris before he left to go back to his duties, and turned her attention to her mother. "Which dress was it?"

"The one I had bought for you. Those worthless chambermaids must have put it away," she cursed, bustling about the bedroom and into the large walk-in closet. "Ahah! This is the one," she said, taking the hangered dress down and bringing it out to her. "Put your black corset on with this one, and the black stilettos. Oh, which necklace should you where," she asked herself, striding over to her vanity and going through her jewelry.

"Mother," Sarafina sighed, exasperated. "I am not a child- I can dress myself!" Though the queen paid no attention, only kept flipping through her necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings until she found the ones she wanted. "Put these on, I will help you with your corset. Chambermaids! Come in here and help me," she ordered, calling from inside the room. They quickly entered, their heads bowed, and closed the door so no one would see the princess.

Knowing her mother was even more stubborn than she, Sarafina gave up with a sigh and did as she was told. She took off her creme-colored dress and dressed in a deep emerald dress that brought out the green and gold in her eyes. Sara sighed, seeing it was low-cut and the straps merely dangled at her shoulders. It was all the worse when her mother put the corset on, which made it so she could hardly breathe.

The chambermaids were ordered by the impatient queen to do her hair while she put on her jewelry, so they did. By the time Sarafina's hair was up with tendrils dangling from her hairline, the queen was satisfied enough. "They will be here any minute, now. Hurry, we must meet them at the door!" The princess rolled her eyes and followed her mother.

Ibadul, who had been hiding from the fussing ladies the entire time, shifted himself into a key and locked the door from the inside. Then shifted into a fly and flew under the crack before returning to his mini-dragon form and flying off to follow the ladies. He knew Eris would be readying in his own way; he would check on the knight soon. The princess needed his protection first, from the foreign eyes that always looked at her a few seconds too long for his comfort.

The excitement in Featherinn grew more and more as she heard all the clinks and chimes of the beconing jewelry that one of the humans were handling. When would they leave?! She wanted them!

After waiting a few seconds for the dragon to leave too, Featehrinn peaked in from her hiding place... no one around. An excited pip escaped her throat as she crawled along the roof in search of her targets. She knew humans usually kept their shiny jewelry close to mirrors and after some sniffing found the vanity case, which she opened promptly.

The jewels' shine reflected in her eyes for a moment before she quickly took as many rings as her fingers could fit, bracelets as her arms could hold and necklaces her neck would allow. In the end the case was empty and Featherinn adored herself in the mirror, looking like a dragon goddess, she comically thought.

She closed the case, remembering Kwislea's teaching to not leave a trail and hopped over to the balcony to get away. The teaspoons on the table caught her eye again and she took a few of those in her mouth before shifting into her smoke form, the jewelry changing along, and flew past the walls to look for Kwislea.

Her tail swept across the floor and failed to find its intended target, so quickly she retracted her tail and tried using her senses to find where the king disappeared to. Eva could normally not see anything in the darkness and quietly wondered how the human king would be able to see and find her. So because her eyes were useless she closed them and became completely still. Off in the distance she could hear foot falls but his scent was not there, instead his scent was coming from her opposing side. She knew that he could control light but what other element was he controlling to perform this? Or was one of them the real king? Being offensive was not the best strategy with confused senses. So instead she laid low to the ground, folded her wings close and coiled her tail around her. In this way she could feel exactly when he would attack.

The one that she could smell came exceedingly close to her position; feeling the vibrations of feet silently pushing against the ground she began to act. At this point she could hear his heart beat and knew it was coming from her side, so she enveloped her entire self in a faint glow of light which acted like a beacon in the darkness. The shield prevented her from feeling his feet upon her back or the sword against her side but she could hear his attempts. Soon she could not smell him upon her or hear anything else but an out-of-place laughter so Eva lowered her shield, enveloping everything in darkness once again. Because of his actions she concluded that he was throwing sound around to confuse her, and she would have to rely on smell and vibration to find him. Keeping herself still she mocked telepathically, *You are going to have to actually attack, me because I felt nothing, I will rest here until you do.* Her muscles were relaxed, but all of her senses were attuned to pick up the faintest sound, scent or vibration.

The king paused for a moment, creating a small light field around only his face to give way to a slightly unsure expression floating high above the dragon near the ceiling. "You sure about that..? I dont want to damage my new friend already, I'd rather wait for a real battle..~" he said, slightly unsure. Before the dragon could answer though, a demonic smile grew upon his face and the light slowly faded. "Well..~" he began, "If you insist~" and with that, everything went dark again, the kings powers being used at their full extent to create an air tight field around himself so that no vibrations or sound of any kind could emanate from his body.

She was not able to see the face with her eyes closed but she could hear his words before he truly did disappear. Audibly she growled as his scent, and sound vanished. Never has anyone been able to hide from her field of “vision”. So in congratulations Eva sent *Good, you have successfully hidden from me, but allow me to show you how I can still retaliate* Getting up on all fours it took her only a second to concentrate on her next move. Soon Eva began to glow from light that seemed to collect around her, until it was almost painful to look at. Suddenly the shielding light exploded from her, expanding to most of the room, hopefully giving the king a challenge with the expanding wall. For the first several yards the light was a powerful barrier but as it expanded towards the edges of the room it dwindled to a feint glow. After the powerful burst Eva’s arms and legs collapsed from exhaustion. She could make small shields for hours but the high powered pulse depleted most of her energy. Her flanks rose and fell in great gasps as she sent *I do not have much more to show you with this power* As tired as she was her senses were still alert, in case anything were to happen.

The king smiled brightly and stood flat on the ground, dropping all his guards and letting the light return to the room. "Wow!~ That was a really nice barrier you put up there!" he noticed that Eva was collapsed on the ground and he walked over to her with concern. "Are you alright, Eva? You look like you just woke up from hibernation.." he said, rethinking his words after a moment. 'Do dragons hibernate..?' he though, completely unsure and hoping that he didn't look stupid in front of his new friend. He called the nurse in quietly, the woman hearing him from two stories below. "Don't worry, I'll help you.." he said with a worrysome tone.

Inwardly she chuckled at his puzzlement, however she would not correct the king on this matter, such actions were rude in front of royalty. Her breathing slowed considerably and Eva opened her eyes slowly. The light was almost painful to watch even with her inner lids protection, but quickly her eyes were able to adjust and pick up even the smallest of details from the other side of the room. Blinking, her ears were able to pick up the sent message, so she twisted her neck in that she could look at the king directly. *Do not worry about me, my abilities are still new and will take time to develop and mature.* Eva was still a young adult and would have many years to come to perfect these talents. Rolling over onto her stomach Eva brought herself up right and bowed deeply to the king, making sure that her muscles dared not betray her fatigue. *But I will continue to grow and hopefully be a great asset to you and your kingdom.*

Te king shrugged in an acceptant way, smiling slightly as he watched the dragon bow. "Alright, if you say so. So then, Eva," he began, "would you like me to show you around the city?" he finished with a grand smile, motioning with his hand to the outside view of the balcony, his chair being pushed aside with a gust of wind as he turned. "I'd really enjoy it~" he insisted, eager to show someone new the city. He was so bored all the time, and this was his only chance to have a good time for the first time in quite a while. He desperately wanted to do this and as he watched and waited for the dragons reply, he could only hope she did as well.

In the slick mists of the mountains lied hidden a massive force of nature. Within the warm, rocky roads of hills, powerful eyes watched as people traveled by, pulling carts, riding horses, and tending to their usual civilian activity in a village.

Far out from the land were ruins of an old temple, where people would go to pay worship to the gods. It use to be large, able to hold thousands. Now it's just broken walls, demolished rooms, and rock arches left in place. The whole area was like most firelands, warm, gritty, and yet beautiful as well. And from a top the mountain layed the guardian of the land.

Rios, the unseen, the savior, the grey wing. Names he was given in his time of protecting his homeland as people would see him. They always had names for him, whether it'd be Savior, Guardian, or whatever else. It mattered little to him, for his time as a guardian was soon about to change.

Finally rest, the bounty was retrieval. Successful. The village that lived there...well. There would be rumors. Vaelyrn was not known for being lenient. The air was too warm, it knew nothing of bitter winters. Cimerian, interesting city. Plenty of well paid bounties were returned here.

In his human for, Vaelyrn walked among what he too had to admit was impressive architecture for humans. The castle looked...entertaining. To say the least. A soldier? many kingdoms were interested, Nay. 'The day I become a soldier is the day that hell will rise up into this world and begin to take over this world.' the thought pressed a cold smile upon his face. In his left hand, he held a head. The blood frozen into it's place, it's expression cold with fear. Lifting it to stare into it's frightened eyes he smiled, what a petty creature it was. Small, insignificant, weak and very dead.

As Vaelyrn entered an inn called 'The Dancing Fire' he stood there, 6 ft tall. A large sword, his clothes in were of a strange fashion - however the outfit complimented his look perfectly apart from the fact that it was soaked in blood, the sound of his large black boots echoed on the wood floor and the air grew into a chill. The whole room stopped in silence as he entered, peering at him with either a sharp glare or a scared look. Lifting the head of the now deceased leader of a large organisation that planned to plot against the city. "Who's paying me?" he demanded of them. He watched a woman who screamed past him and ran out of the front door.

Putting his arm down, he watched as the men and women alike starred at him. Only one spoke "You - you're the famous bounty hunter, Frost." he was well known, brilliant just his luck. He didn't care for titles. "You're right." he returned the man's gaze with a cold expression "Do you know who set this bounty?" he asked. The man quivered in reply "G-go ask at the castle, they'll know there" and without another word. Vaelyrn turned around and left - bounties were annoying when trying to claim the reward. He then made his way toward the castle.

"Alright, this is it." Kwislea told Featherinn quietly as they were perched on an unlit area on the wall. He had been keeping an eye on the guards' movements and patrols for a while now and finally got a pattern to work with. As with any large heist, he had everything he would need if it was time to make tracks. He could disappear to another city or even another country if need be and set up there.
He patted Featherinn's neck fondly before gripping tightly to the saddle and she crawled up along one of the towers. She was more invisible now and clouded Kwislea in a soft fog to make their presence less known.

With her senses she could warn him if anyone was near, but as she found a lone balcony and peeked in there was no one. They were at the side of the castle facing away from the city and there were fewer torches. The lock on the door was no match for Kwislea's skill and both entered the room quietly.
After some time snooping around and avoiding guards, they were finally at one of the many reception halls and helping themselves to some valuables. Next would be the way up to the bed chambers and whatever they could sneak in on their way there.
