War of the elements

When she was praising herself, he had a blank look on his face and to his surprise nodded off. She has a power I have never seen before. A sleeping spell maybe. He chuckled at the thought, he had heard all this frequently from kings, queens, princes and princess. It wasn't her fault, she just had that higher being personal attitude. He just didn't like being talked down too. "I actually consider myself, unlucky for meeting you." He frowned, and continued. "I had rather wished never to meet you, no offence of course... your majesty." He said in that deep sarcastic tone. "But unfortunately, my personal self can't seem to leave you stranded out here. Though right now I am praying that the orcs or some lively band finds you and does whatever they do to fairy princesses. Which I am pretty sure they would find your title more praise worthy then I do. Hell, I bet they'd have a great time enjoying your company." He said with a dark tone, grinning. "Fortunately, I won't let that happen. Because I know this whole forest and I know where the orc tribe is," He pointed to his left, only using his thumb to do so. "Plus, I'm not really worried about them considering the fifteen I fought were rather.. boring."

He paused and smiled gleefully, "And I know where you're tower is and guardsmen, though I am thinking that they were not accompanying you and you're out here by yourself." He looked at her waist, seeing no deadly enough weapons. "Though I am wondering why you came out so unprepared. And I figured you'd at least know what you are doing." He seemed completely confused, then turned around and looked around them, then stopped suddenly. "Nope. I am utterly confused." He looked at her with his head tilted to the side for a moment, but just shrugged. "I am out here because I live out here. You know," He propped his elbow in the air and nudged it toward her, and gave an exaggerated wink. "Exile and all." He chuckled at himself, thinking it wasn't honestly all that bad.

(Before anything.... JURI! My main fighter in SSIV :P Love her. Just had to point it out.)

Xugar had moved away from the orcs, who seemed to be in shock of the amount of weapons the human had on him, to think, "How am I going to pull this off? Perhaps the human would be an aid for me, and assist me in gathering some orcs with me when I'm exiled to create an army to oppose Ogrul. Then again, he seems too much of a goody-goody for that to happen. Funny considering he was sent to kill him" Xugar began thinking to himself, well out of the earshot of the others in the crowd. He looked in deep thought towards the gate, "One more minute until it shuts. Looks like everyone who isn't dead has come back." He noted the lack of orcs coming through the gate which now had ten guards securing it's premises. The camp was abuzz with plenty of orcs making preparations.

He was so deep in thought he'd not even noticed the human approach him from behind. He didn't act shocked however when he heard his voice, assuming that his soldiers had done there job taking off any weapons he had on him. "That's an interesting way to talk to someone who just saved you from being burned alive. Come, we'll talk while I escort you personally to Ogrul. It looks like he's expecting you." He looked over to Ogrul, who's glare he could feel pushing down on his back for a while. He looked even scarier when he faced him. "You know, it is a pain working under him. There are many who are better suited for his position within our ranks." He set off for the beast, not caring to look back to see if the boy was following. The biggest threat for me right now isn't him, it's Ogrul. Besides, only a fool would try to run unarmed.

He kept his eyes firmly placed on the ground in front of him, not daring to look up to Ogrul's death glare. He sighed once more, "As for the orc who spoke to you, I wouldn't tell you his name even if I knew it, for your own safety. He comes from the royal court. Yes we orc's have royalty too, believe it or not. We aren't all animals like our brethren to the west." He looked off beyond the trees in the direction he'd mentioned, "He's used to protecting people at all costs. Some have even said he's unlocked some unthinkable magic that allows him to travel through plains to get to places in a mere instant, like you just observed moments ago. Of course nobody's asked him how. He's very secretive. What I'm essentially trying to say is that no one knows his name. He hasn't told anyone, and the same goes for the other two that guard Ogrul." He looked back to the boy, but was sidetracked by the loud noise of a warhorn tearing through their camp, "Already?" He looked the boy in the eye, "You couldn't have picked a better time to assassinate him. The war has begun." The shouts of his comrades echoed through the air around him.

After accepting the package from the orc, Ogrul looked at the crowd, able to hear little bits of what was going on, "After all I've done, and they still want me overthrown." He shook his head, but kept his eyes on the crowd, "Do I need to prove myself once more to these people? Is it so wrong for me to want to live? This is war, and not everyone can survive. But I'm trying my best to make sure as many of them do as possible." His eyes grew steely again.

He witnessed the flame shoot up from the group, and took a few steps towards the crowd, "What is that?" His hand was wrapped tightly around the handle of his hammer. After looking further he was able to pick up on the smallest of his guards. He watched with pride as he gave off his speech, "And he hasn't even covered the half of what I've done." It didn't take long before the guard stood before him after disappearing into the crowd, "Sir, Xugar-" "Yes, I know. I might be older, but my senses haven't yet failed me. I will deal with it appropriately when we are in better times." He glared at Xugar, who was now walking towards him with the human who was supposed to be shackled. His eyes were moved to a figure dashing quickly towards him around Xugar, "What's this?"

The orc stopped in front of Ogrul, and didn't waste a moment to catch his breath before he started rambling, "Sir, the elves are around our camp! And the water fairies have sent troops as well! The perimeter of burnt trees has only gone 100 meters before the flame died out, and some scouts have mentioned they saw elvish forces making their way to our village!" Ogrul's expression changed to one of rage, "Why would the damned water fairies be here? We are not the one's at fault, we are simply trying to recover what was taken from us by the elves! They have no business here!" He turned to his guard, "Sound the war horn, then take some troops to intercept the elves headed for the village. We have a battle ahead of us, and this time I will prove to my men once and for all why I'm the leader." He picked up his war hammer and began to take heavy steps towards the closed gate, shaking the ground as he went.

Ares listened intently to Xugar's words without interrupting him but as soon as he had approached Ogrul, a figure sped past him. Ares eavesdropped on Ogrul's conversation with this orc and gave a content smile - sure he was pleased, the elves and the fairies had launched their attack as they had promised the humans they would. But never did he think for one second that it would be the humans who would be unable to live up to their promises. The human vanguard leader, Strantham Clawshift, had sworn that they would send a single assassin to remove Ogrul's presence in the orc army by the time their temporary allies had arrived to storm the camp. Ares was the selected human, as he had proven his agility and loyalty to the humans before, but the plan had gone wrong. The orcs weren't supposed to return to the camp! They were supposed to pursue the elves and fall into the trap. Ares was meant to finish off Ogrul and escape to the nearby pass to inform General Clawshift so that the elves and the fairies could have an easy victory. If Ares was going to make things right, this was the only chance he had to do so.

He began to jog lightly, and then sprint towards Ogrul, and lifted an arm, as if to hit the large orc. However, instead, he slid past the orc and spread out his arms ahead of him, signalling that the orc should stop.

"Just hear me out!" Ares said in a loud voice, to show that he was confident and not afraid of Ogrul, as well as to allow the other orcs to hear his words so that they knew he wasn't trying anything dodgy. "If you leave the walls of this camp, do you really believe that these people will welcome your return? You can kill however many straggling elves and fairies as you see fit, but do you really believe that those orcs even care anymore? You may have proved to your men that you are a powerful fighter but do you truly believe the reason so many of your orcs were so easily swayed by my words is because they thought for a second that you aren't?"

Am I... helping the orcs? Ares turned his head behind him to see that the gates were being opened in light of Ogrul's readiness to exit the camp. He thought about what he was doing - and as he thought over his actions, he realised that he was... encouraging Ogrul. He shook his head, confused by his words of encouragement, but continued nonetheless.

"It isn't your might they wish to see, Ogrul," Ares said, lowering his tone. "And it isn't your death or sacrifice either. These orcs want you to prove you are a good leader. They want to know that you have as much respect for them as you command them to have for you, and leaving them behind, open to enemy attacks, surely isn't the way to make them believe that you actually care for their wellbeing."

{I know right?! She's amazing. :D}

"You live out here?" Pirina scoffed. "You actually choose to live out here? My, you must really be insane." She turned her head to the side, sticking her nose up in the air as if she just smelled something horrendous.

"You know what, I actually do hope some big tribe of beasts comes and takes me away. I'm sure their company would be much more interesting than yours. You're just a nuisance." She pivoted on her foot, her back now facing him, as she took a few giant steps forward. She thrust her arms out towards the sky. "Orcs! Oh orcs!" she called out, actually forgetting for a moment that there were real orcs currently in the forest who posed a real threat to her safety. "Come take me away! Save me from this hideous monster!" she cried, referring to Marlok. She placed the back of her palm on her forehead, and spun around dramatically. Once she came to a stop, she couldn't help but giggle.

He clapped like she had just performed in front of an audience. "Well done, I didn't know you to be such an actor." He sighed, "You're a better actor then I thought. Did you get noble classes for that so you can fake your way through talking about important stuff and pretend to care." He said dryly. He turned, more a casual turn as if someone had called his name and he didn't actually care too look.

Three orcs appeared from behind some trees, they were all rather large in stature and they wore decent armor and their weapons were all drawn. Two had a sword and shield while the other carried a long spear. "Two fairies in our woods, eh? So that's what all the noise was. We'll bring their heads back to Ogrul." The one paused, "We might take one back alive." Another said grinning.

Marlok turned to her, and shrugged not taking out his two scimitars. He raised his hands at her, "Wish granted, princess." Marlok used the sarcastic tone, he turned away from the orcs, facing away from both them and the princess. "She's all yours, friends." The orcs looked at him, and back to her. And had a confused look. "I won't fight it, just going to run away. But you can have her if you like." The grinned from ear to ear at that comment. Marlok look at Pirina, "Don't worry, I'm sure they are the friendliest people you'll ever meet. Remember, keep that attitude around them. They'll love it." He winked at her, and took his first step away from them as the orcs waited for him to walk away.

Ogrul didn't even acknowledge the boy, though the thought of him punching him ran through his mind briefly, and although the times were dire, it brought a smile to his face as he imagined the boy bruising his hand on the armor he wore. The boy would probably still bruise his hand if I didn't wear any armor. He looked down to him, his expression hardening as his eyes narrowed into a glare. He stopped as the boy hoped for, and listened to him with keen ears, able to pick out his voice among the buzz of war around him, and the war horn that still rung around him.

He couldn't believe the boy in front of him, and it was evident on his face, "First you shoot an arrow at me from the trees, then you infiltrate my camp killing four of my guards, no doubt trying to get to me, then you go and hold one of my commander's hostage only after cutting off one of his arms and killing his companion, then you cause an uprising among my orcs and give that damned traitor Xugar an outlet to take over my position, and you have the nerve to try to stop me and give me battle tactics, completely unarmed with not a dime to your word? I am an orc of reason, but not even a fool would fall for your stupid games. Your lucky I don't just kill you right now, and crush your body until it's nothing more than an unrecognizable mess of flesh and blood." He spat the words out at the boy beneath him, keeping a death glare trained on him throughout. He gripped the handle of the hammer over his shoulder even tighter, half tempted to swing it down and be over with him. However, he abstained and took a few breaths to calm his rage, "Now get out of my way. I need to find the orcs in the forest and get them to camp before we retreat. There is no way we can win a battle against two armies." He continued walking to the gate, ignoring any further suggestions the boy who stood in front of him had to offer.

He neared the gate, and was immediately bombarded by his other two guards who held stern expressions of disapproval on their faces, "Your not going out there sir. It would be disgraceful to let one of such high standing as yourself walk out into a battlefield to get killed. Sure you could hold your own against countless men, but what about a dozen archers all peppering arrows into you from a safe distance away? No hammer will help you then, no matter how fast you run to them. " He looked him in the eye, showing fearlessness to match his gaze, "Just leave the orcs out there sir. Thousands of them could not compare to you, and you know it. Let them die." The other guard beside him simply nodded in agreement, though his eyes told otherwise. Ogrul looked to each one in turn, and his expression turned to one of annoyance, "Do not treat me like I some old war veteran who's past his prime! I am well enough capable of handling myself on the battlefield. You forget, I have magic of my own, handed to me from the elders. The archers will burn before they're even able to notch an arrow." He glared deeply into the larger guard's eyes, and the fearlessness that was present on them was crushed, "And don't ever suggest I leave my men to die. I won't let that happen again."

The two guards looked to him in disbelief, but didn't dare to question him, instead respecting his decision. Ogrul calmed, and a grin was placed on his face, "Good. Alright, big guy I trust your combat ability to be on par with mine, and I trust you will be able to lead these orcs to safety. We have allies to the north of here, take them to their village. The chieftain may not be too welcoming of your presence, but he will give you refuge all the same. Gather all of them and head out. Remember, warriors and fighters to the outsides and innocents on the inside. The horn should buy you some time, as they're probably expecting a charge from the front gate and are waiting with arrows. And..." His gaze drifted over to the mute orc who stood beside him, "Since I'm going to be the one charging out of the front gate, and your both concerned some petty arrows will penetrate my armor, I best take some protection with me, no?" They both agreed, fully understanding what he was implying, "Excellent. I'll meet you by dusk of tomorrow, if all is well. Now go!" The large guard wasted no time gathering the orcs in the camp and evacuating them to safety, while Ogrul began to make his way through the gate with the shield bearing guard guard as his only ally.

Pirina's eyes widened as the orcs made themselves known. They weren't anything like Pirina had imagined. This was her first time seeing a real life orc. They were much bigger. Bigger and more grotesque than the mental picture Pirina had of them. She turned towards Marlok and spat, "You're just going to leave me here? With these things?" She gestured towards the orcs. Then she brought her arm back in, crossing it over her other arm and shaking her head. "Well fine. Here I was trying to allow you to redeem yourself, but no," she looked away from Marlok and over to the orcs, desparately trying to hide how terrified she was right now.

"If you're going to take me you might as well take him too," she commanded to the orcs. She wanted to make him suffer for giving her up this easily. Who just hands over a noble to a bunch of ruthless creatures? "You don't want to let, um," her voice faltered, trying to come up with something to say, "You don't want to let such tasty meat get away, don't you?"

Marlok was laughing.

The lead orc realized how scared she was, "We saw him back at camp, it's better if we just take you rather then risk our lives if we don't have too." He said through a massive amount of drool. "Plus you look tastier." The others laughed as they approached her.

Marlok stomach hurt again, Yeah, yeah I know. Guilt. He took a knife from his dagger and threw it right at the one using a spear hitting him straight between the eyes. In a flash he charged the shorter of the two orc his scimitar already drawn and he swept low but fire struck as he went to strike. He retracted, and was surprised to see the massive orc knew magic as well. He smiled, "Well, that's magnificent." He looked to Pirina, completely ignoring the orcs, his tone was calm and his smile was of pure joy, "By the way don't lie. It really doesn't help. You think I honestly believe you would pardon me?" He smiled a warm smile.

The shorter orc swung thinking he had the advantage. Marlok blocked it with one scimitar and threw his other at the chest of the taller orc. Forgetting about protecting his comrade the orc dove out of the way. Marlok's grin was obvious to anyone watching. Water magic took out the shield the smaller orc was holding and left him wide open. The scimitar swept the sword out of his hand and stabbed him straight in the heart. He withdrew his sword and the orc fell limp. The giant orc charged out of rage and fear. He cast a fire spell that headed straight for Marlok. Marlok was charging as well and slid under it still moving forward. The orc's sword blazed with fire and it swung. Marlok blocked it and felt the intense heat and backed off. The orc grinned and lead with his shield and attempting to knock Marlok off balance. Marlok smiled and spun around the shield. The orc swung us blade horizontal in the path Marlok dodged, thinking he had him because Marlok didn't have his blade to block it. Suddenly Marlok had water growing in his hand and his other blade formed into his hand, water surrounding it as it blocked the orcs weapon, steam coming off the weapon. He brought his other blade up and connected. His blade going up from his chin to the back of his head. Marlok paused in that stance and withdrew his blade smoothly.

The water magic cleaned off his blade and he turned to Pirina, "I can tell you have never been out of the castle before." He smiled, an innocent smile that wasn't meant to cause any harm.

As Ogrul walked away from him towards two other orcs, Ares couldn't help but to smile at his last comment. When he had been sent on this mission, Ogrul had been described with only negative words but the orc that he spoke to just now was better than that. Ares closed his eyes as he felt a droplet of rain, and then another, and then one more fall onto his head. He looked up to see a light grey cloud covering the sky. Once Ogrul had advanced through the gate, Ares proceeded towards the other orcs who were still gathered around and, boldy, he stepped into the middle of them. He then rose his hands above his head to once again show that he came in peace.

"Ogrul told me that I have to be gone by the time of his return,"
Ares stated, as he looked for the guards with his bag and weapons. "He told me that I should have one meal for my bravery, and then collect my belongings and leave before he returns otherwise he'll kill me."

Ares located the guards with his weapons through the crowd with keen eyes. For some reason, the orcs looked disheveled and somewhat saddened. Most likely because they had just revealed their discontent for Ogrul's leadership by agreeing with Xugar and himself. Ares walked towards them and stretched his arms towards them to take back his weapons. The orcs said nothing as he took his bag, bow and quiver, strapping them to his back, and then lifting his dagger and longsword from their hands. He tried to find Xugar, his last hope at succeeding his mission, but as he took another step forwards, an arrow flew over the camp's walls and struck dead a nearby orc. Ares span around to see several cloaked figures dashing through the gate under the cover of nightfall, each armed with longswords, and could see patrolling orcs being sneakily assassinated as they drew their blades and clubs. With the guards at the gates already dead, Ares frowned. What's this? Have the elves already come? He sheathed his longsword and quickly made his way through the camp to find Xugar.

"Stop there, Ares," he heard somebody shout from behind him. On either side of the twenty or so orcs standing in the centre of the camp were thirty human warriors, totalling sixty altogether. A fierce man with heavy battle armour and wielding a thick battleaxe rode through the gates mounted on a horse, with another dozen or so footsoldiers marching behind him. The soldiers closed the gates and began to find whatever they could to barricade it while the mounted general rode towards Ares and made his way into the circle. Ares looked up at the man and sighed. "Why have we just seen Ogrul alive?" he demanded, as he walked towards Ares. "It doesn't matter anyway. This camp has come under the temporary control of the Clawshift Army. Please do not try to fight us, we heavily outnumber you, and we have armed reinforcements coming very soon. We will not execute you or imprison you unless you try to resist. Any orc who wishes to accompany Ogrul can follow him out of the camp."

Ares looked around to the other orcs in confusion. "What's going on? I thought we weren't going to take over the camp?"

"We're not," the general said in a loud voice. "This stronghold will be returned to the orcs, albeit under a new leader. All we hope to achieve is peace between the humans and the other races of this country, and Ogrul was very defiant." He then looked to the orcs. "Of all of the honourable orcs, which of you wants peace with the humans? Who is capable of taking the role of leader!"

Pirina ran towards a tree, keeping out of the way as Marlok battled the orcs. She kept her back glued to the tree, watching intently as they fought. She tilted her head in interest as she kept her eyes glued on them. The way the water fairy moved, using a combination of both water magic and his scimitar so effortlessly against the two less than agile creatures, almost seemed like it was a dance. Pirina thought it was quite beautiful to watch, her eyes wide and her mouth agape. Where did he learn to fight like that? He made it seem so easy. She had never seen anyone move like that, not even the soldiers of her kingdom who were considered some of the best trained fighters their race had to offer.

She blinked a couple of times, regaining her composture as Marlok turned to her. She shrugged, "I've seen better."

She cautiously walked up to the orcs, bending down to get a closer look at them. They looked so...different. Pirina found this so curious, how unlike they were to the water fairies. She wondered if the elves had these bizarre features as well, since she had never actually seen one up close. She gently touched the lead orc's cheek. It felt incredibly rough. She glided her finger up to its' forehead. She brought her finger back quickly as her finger drifted over some of the orc blood, as if she had been burnt. She rubbed her finger on the grass, attempting to wipe it off, and stood back up. "Where could they have came from?" she mumbled aloud, mainly to herself.

He sheathed his blades, he looked at her and dismissed her comment. He had seen her practically breaking her back to get close to the tree. He watched as she examined the orc. The first time he saw one he was a little surprised, but she was seeing it in a childish girl way, he thought. The first time he met one he had to kill it. He brushed that thought aside, and tracked their foot prints. To the east? He pondered. And looked to the West as he nodded his head confirming he knew exactly where he was. "From either battle or a scouting. They were on their way back to camp but were unable to make it." He smirked, and crossed his arms proudly but stopped almost immediately, Why do you care so much? He turned to her and put a hand on his blade and drew it. He walked towards it, "Speaking of which. I'd like some answers." He shrugged dismissively, "Answer and things will go easier. Please make things be easier." He had a blank look as he said that. "Why are you out here without body guards, and what are you doing out here?"

Xugar, who'd been watching casually with contempt as the human ran to Ogrul, began to make his way over to a nearby campfire. "He's not my problem anymore." He took a seat by a nearby log, looking deeply into the fire instead of participating in the preparations. I'm sure someone in my squad will take command to lead them. I have too much to think about right now to worry about a war. How will I get the human to join me when I'm exiled? He shook his head, resting his flail down beside him on the log, I suppose I could help him kill Ogrul. Then I won't get exiled, and he'll be out of the picture. Plus, all of the orcs will think it was the human, and try to hunt him down, leaving me a safe secure path to his position. Xugar smiled, faintly hearing the crackling of fire over the sounds of the orcs around him.

He got up from the log, and grabbed his flail. The blood on it had dried, and began to fall off in flakes. He turned to where Ogrul was, but was shocked to see that he was no longer talking to the human. Instead, the brute had made his way to the gate, and was just crossing under it's entrance to the battlefield surrounding it, accompanied by the mute orc. "How strange. And convenient." Xugar's grin widened, and he went to take a step towards the center of the camp. As soon as his foot hit the ground, he heard the whoosh of an arrow, and an orc fell dead beside him, "Well that was close." He looked over to the dead orc beside him, with not an ounce of emotion in his eyes. Then they were upon them, an army of assassins and rogues that they'd not noticed before. Xugar sneered, and raised his weapon, ready to knock the head off of any that dared to get too close to him.

He slowly began to make his way to the center of the camp, where the last of the remaining orcs who'd not been slaughtered were standing. Among them was the largest of the royal guards, who held his two axes that were dripping with fresh blood. Xugar made his way through the orcs, which were largely composed of those incapable of fighting, with scarce few who could hold their own against the humans that surrounded them. Xugar did a quick survey, deciding there was around 60 or so humans. He sighed, Figures, my golden opportunity rises, and we're ambushed. He'd arrived at the side of the large orc, and looked up to his face which was set into a stern look of anger, "What is the meaning of this? Our great leader leaves just in time to avoid an ambush, but he leaves one of his guards behind as bait? The man truly is a coward." Some of the orcs around him overheard his statement, and began to nod there heads.

The large orc looked down to him, and opened his mouth to say something. He was cut off by a human who strode in on horseback among the humans. The orcs around them looked to the man, and the group which was anything but warriors lit up at the mention of peace. Chatter began to ensue among them, and they began discussing who should lead them, "Enough! You come into our camp and slaughter our men just to declare peace?" A voice boomed among the chatter of the orcs. Emerging from the crowd to look up to the man with a sneer was the largest of the guards. The orcs behind him went silent, "This is ridiculous. Why would you even want peace with the small portion of orcs you've left us with? You can be sure that word of this will travel back to our king, and when it does you will-""Live. Because the king will learn that we've finally gained peace between us and the humans." The larger orc was interrupted by Xugar, who stood beside him. The guard looked down to him, "You traitorous scum." He spat down to him, but Xugar wasn't paying him any attention. He looked up to the human, and extended his free hand, "My name is Xugar, and I am the leader you're looking to declare peace with." He looked the man dead in the eye. The guard beside him groaned, then turned to the human army before him, "Get out of my way. I chose to leave with Ogrul than to stand beside this filth." He began to make his way with heavy footsteps towards the gate.

The general watched the defiant orc storm towards the gate, and signaled his men not to approach him. He then turned back to look at the smaller, yet still large, orc who had introduced himself as Xugar. Dismounting his horse, he took Xugar's hand in his own and shook it. "I am Strantham Clawshift, the commander of the Clawshift unit of the human army." Ares walked up towards Strantham and sighed. "I am pleased that you are willing to cooperate with us. For too long has Ogrul refused to negotiate peace terms. It is clear to see that you are more than capable of leading these orcs to a better future and, if the other orc leaders were like you, this war would come to a close. I will write to our king and tell him that we are on the first steps to peace between two warring races, and that the orc leader Xugar should be well rewarded for his role."

Ares took his place by Strantham's side and smiled. "I feel as if my actions today did not go in vain. Not only is Ogrul gone but we have a better leader in place."

"Do not be misguided, young man,"
Strantham quickly said to Ares. "Ogrul won't take too kindly to his camp being seized by his subordinate. I advise you to rally all the orcs to your side, Xugar. If it is fine with you, I would like to station my troops here for a few days so that we can lend our support to you if Ogrul does return for an attack. Afterwards, I can leave and entrust to you the independent leadership of this area."

Pirina's eyes glanced from Marlok's sword to the lifeless orcs. She couldn't help but be fascinated by them. They were so--different. They were large, bulky, and had the most hideous features. They were the complete opposite of water fairies. If they were smaller and not as savage, Pirina would love to have one as a pet. It'd terrorize everyone in her castle and even some mundane civillians. She'd name it Snarkle, that was a good name. She grinned at the thought of it.

Her train of thought was cut short when she heard the annoying voice that belonged to Marlok. "Answers?" she asked incredulously, her eyes slowly shifting up to the water fairy's. "I don't have to answer to you, you criminal." She turned her head away, as if extremely offended at the question. After a short pause, she added, "You should stop following me, you know. It's really starting to creep me out."

There was no way she was going to admit that she was completely lost out here in the woods, that she originally followed her guards out here without their knowledge just to cause some trouble, and now karma was getting her back for it by sticking her with Marlok.

Marlok paused as she talked, God... I know I'm terribly annoying but this is worse. He sighed, he knew if he left her something might happen. Especially considering something just did happen. He was hoping no elite guards or anything would show up. If that happened and he had to help her at the same time. He wouldn't be able to do it. Plus the way she was talking meant she wanted him away, and he wanted to.. jesus lord did he want to get away from this stuck up princess. His stomach wouldn't allow him to though for some reason, and he thought about stabbing himself in the stomach to see if it would go away. He was positive it would, but he cleared out that thought quickly.

"Fair enough." He sprinted at her, his scimitars crossed over and an inch away from her neck on both sides. The water poured on the blade and somehow made it sharper then before, he glared at her for a long moment. "I'm going to tell you a harsh reality. And you're going to listen." He moved the blades a tad bit closer. "You're lost. If you aren't lost I would have four guards surrounding me right now or be dead. So.. I'll make you a deal." He kept his blades up to her neck. "You'll stop calling me a criminal because you have done far worse things then I have. In return, I'll stop calling you princess." He paused, "Next deal is, if you say you aren't lost, I'm going to tie you up to the tree behind you. I'm going to look for your guards who I barely know where they are now and if I can't find them... I'm going to come back and one. I'll take you back to the castle... or two, I'm going to kill you because more orcs are around this area and I don't think it would be as quick and merciful as mine would be." He smiled as if he just told a funny joke, joy on his face. "What do you say?"

Ogrul left the gates, and was immediately bombarded by a volley of arrows. He saw them coming from a mile away, and noted the exact location each had been fired from, 8 arrows in all. His guard ran in front of him, lifting his large shield with an ease that only came with years of mastering the weapon. He quickly moved his shield from side to side, deflecting each of the arrows with a ping. He stood in front of Ogrul with his shield high, ready for the next volley of arrows to come. Instead, he was struck by the sound of snapping fingers behind him, and the sound of burning elves in the distance. He looked briefly over his shoulder to see Ogrul with his hands raised and a smug expression on his face, "Well, let's get on with it lad." He commanded down to the orc, moving his hands forwards to gesture they carry on. The orc turned and headed into the surrounding ash filled forest. The ground surrounding them was white like snow from the burning trees, causing the orcs to cough a little. "Ah! The end of this snowy torment!" Ogrul pointed a little ahead to where the ash ended and the forest began. They headed into the thick of the trees, just as the humans entered his camp.

It didn't take long until elves were upon them, most of them assassins trying to stealthily fell the giant, since the warriors didn't dare to step against him. Most of the assassins were crushed with one fell swing of his hammer, and those who were skilled enough to avoid it got there heads taken off by a shield. Walking through the forest Ogrul couldn't help but to feel saddened by the number of dead orcs that littered the ground. He sighed, resting by a nearby tree when they were a ways from the camp, "You know, I don't think any of them have actually survived." The guard, who was resting his back on a tree opposite him, slowly nodded his head. They took a minute to rest, then continued the search.

They were caught in the middle of the forest before any of the elves decided to launch an offensive, sending 12 warriors to the 2 orcs. Ogrul spotted them a mile away, "We have company. Prepare yourself." The smaller orc raised his shield. In the dense of the trees it was difficult to keep track of the elves, especially since they split off when they neared them. Within moments the elves had completely surrounded them, but Ogrul remained calm, holding his war hammer casually over his shoulder. "Hmmm." He began to look at each of the elves, as did his guard, "4 Veterans, 3 Newbies, and 5 ranged. Watch the newbies, one of them is sure to charge." He whispered to the guard, who had his back to him and was observing their other side. "Now for the bait." He turned his eyes back to the elves.

"What is wrong with your insufferable race? First you plunder our village, then turn around and begin to murder us? All we were trying to do was retrieve what was ours! Your race is so stupid, hiding among the trees and never fighting. Your all a bunch of cowards." His taunting had the desired effect, and two of the elves surrounding them charged at them, enraged at his insults. Using his range to his advantage, Ogrul swung his hammer down with one arm, striking an elf before he was even in attacking range. He raised his sword to defend himself, but it did little to stop the large hammer. The force of the hammer brought the sword that was held above his head in defense crashing down on him, and the elf practically exploded into entrails. He looked behind him to see the other elf who charged on the ground, with a large wound inflicted onto his head. "Good job boy. 10 more to go. But considering how they're all cowards, we've probably only got to kill another 5 and the rest will run away with their tail between their legs!" His voice rose as he began to insult them again.

Before they attacked, he took note of their armor and weapons, 2 archers, 3 mages, 3 swordsmen, and 2 axe wielders. And of course they all wear they're weak elven armor. He laughed, and two arrows were shot at him from the circle surrounding them, "Now!"He swung his hand in an arc, and the arrows were lit ablaze. Within an instant, the guard behind him swung in front of him and deflected the arrows, sending the burning masses straight for two mages, who fell to the ground dead. Ogrul didn't have time to praise him, because the remaining elves ran towards him in a desperate attack to outnumber them, 8 to 2. When they were close enough, Ogrul swung his hammer in a large arc, hitting two of the elves and sending them flying off into the distance. The other two that had charged from his side had back stepped then ran in to the opening his swing provided. Quickly moving his hammer to his left hand, Ogrul punched hard with his right at one of the elves who had brought their sword back for a heavy attack. The elf fell to the ground unconscious.

Now where's the other one? Ogrul heard a ping, and some pressure in his abdomen. Looking down, he saw the other elf, who'd been an archer, desperately trying to pierce his armor with a small dagger. Ogrul placed his hammer on the ground, and wrapping his arms around the elf, squeezed him into a death hug, crushing all the oxygen out of his lungs. When he released the elf, he fell to the ground lifeless. Turning around, Ogrul was pleased to witness the last blow his guard inflicted, a devastating shield bash to an elves abdomen, which sent him flying back away before falling to the ground. The guard turned around and looked at Ogrul. He put a heavy hand on his shoulder, "Not bad, not bad." He heard a noise off in the distance, one oddly enough of a girl. Quickly, he turned his head from the orc and began to head to the source of the sound, leaving behind him the littered remains of the dead elves.

Pirina's eyes widened in shock as Marlok ran up to her. She took a step back, making a defensive stance as she nearly felt the blades slide against her neck. If she listened close enough, she could practically hear the powerful magic in the water fairy's weapon. Though she was shaking, moreso in anger than in fright, she did not move or attempt to flee. Her hands lit up, weakly, as she attempted to conjure some magic of her own.

Her teeth were bared, her wild eyes staring down Marlok hard. She was furious. "Done far worse things," she ridiculed. "I have done nothing wrong, nothing but mind my own business out in these god forsaken woods, when you had to show up and ruin everything! How dare you do this to me!" her voice had risen as she went on, and by now she was shrieking at him. "You are a criminal! Absolute scum! A crook! A felon!" She was trying to think up all the adjectives she could to describe Marlok, just to piss him off further.

"Take those swords away from me, right now, I command you!" Her rage had blinded her, causing her to go into angry-princess mode. She was used to telling people what to do, and they usually did as told without a second thought. She forgot for the time being that this was no ordinary water fairy. He no longer belonged to the kingdom, didn't have to heed her orders. But she didn't care, she just had to yell. "I'd rather be strangled to death by those hideous orcs than have to deal with you anymore!"

Her voice lowered, but the anger remained clear in her face. "In fact, do it," her eyes glanced down at the swords, still at her neck, then back up at Marlok. Then she hollered, "Do it! Take your stupid swords, and cut my head off! I don't care if I die, my mother wouldn't even notice, as long as I'm away from you!" Her chest heaved up and down, the violent look still vivid in her eyes and mouth.

Should couldn't see his face, it was faced down, disappointment in himself clearly edged on his face and hopelessness. His anger subsided even though he practically cut her head off after hearing those string of words. What am I doing? He thought to himself. She doesn't know why I am out here? Or what her mother does to her people when Pirina bothers her about the people who work there? His blades shook in his hands for several seconds near her neck, he still wanted to kill her because something told him she did know, she had to know how could she be that innocent. No one is that innocent. She knows and she has no sympathetic bone in her body!

He looked up, his face so intense it could scare the gods themselves, water magic pouring from his whole body. He drew back his swords to swing horizontally, the magic in them flowing. With intense speed he swung to cut off her head thinking all the things she had done. Or he thought she had done... Don't. He stopped half an inch away from her neck she could feel the force of the swing, enough to feel like she got punched. He was breathing heavy, "This..." He had a similar incident like this, she didn't know but he was shaking from anxiety and rage. He drew his sword back and with all the magic he could muster into one strike throw one sword at a far tree. It shattered at the trunk and destroyed most of the area behind it as it connected, making loud crashing sounds as it fell.

He looked at her, the magic withdrawing from his body and sword. He grabbed the middle of the blade, it cut him a bit but he didn't seem to feel it, he extended the hilt of the blade. "Innocent." He said with a blank emotion etched on his face and in his tone. "Though you hate me. And I despise you." He looked to the side, guilt in his eyes. "You know nothing. You truly are just a stuck up brat. That is all." He smirked a bit at her, and kept the blade out for her to take, his grip on his blade tighter as it dug into his hand. Water magic went to go heal it out of reaction, but he stopped it.

"Ares, your contribution today hasn't gone unnoticed either," Strantham stated, as Ares sheathed his longsword. "I want you to return to your hometown and visit your family. Take a few days off and spend time resting."
"Yes, general," Ares lowered his head in thanks, placing his left fist in his right open palm. "When should I..."
"Effective immediately," the large general smirked, as Ares took off. Strantham stepped towards Xugar and gave him a friendly smile, "Would you like to talk about how we can get rid of the threat that is Ogrul once and for all?"

Ares walked away towards the gate in a slow pace. As he put on his bag and ensured he had all his belongings, he then picked up speed as he moved out of the gate and then speedily ran deep through the heart of the forest. He was now free from his obligation, his mission finally over, as he raced through the trees as fast as he could run. He felt as if his bags and indeed even his own body weighed next to nothing as he sprinted gracefully, dodging trees and sliding under thick branches, or leaping over the roots which were too low to leap over. Abruptly, a loud crash could be heard and Ares could feel a breeze on his face and see some trees ahead of him shake. As he proceeded forwards without a care in the world, he could see many dead corpses, belonging to elves and orcs alike, strewn across from end to end, some missing body parts and all ferried into the afterlife. Cautiously landing his feet in areas free from blood and death, Ares continued to bolt forwards until he came across two fairies, one male and one female, standing opposite one another, with the male offering his sword to the female. Needing a break, Ares slowed to a stop and rested by a tree a few metres away from them.
"Can any of you..." he stopped speaking in order to catch his breath. "Can I have water... if you have any?"

Pirina's entire body tensed as Marlok brought up his sword. This was it. This was where she was going to die, out here in this horrid forest with no one but a stupid water fairy to watch her go. She watched him as he swung it towards her, feeling like she was watching her life flash before her eyes. She thought about the castle, sitting on her bed, running down the halls, teasing her favorite servant Arlid. She thought about her mother and what she was doing at this moment in time, though she was certain her mother wasn't even considering her safety. She thought about the feeling of every water fairy's eyes on hers as she pranced through the town, acting like she owned the place, relishing the attention. She thought the things she never did; she never had a best friend, never held on to a true love, never knew what it was like to do anything for herself. Her eyes squeezed together tightly, fully anticipating to never open them again.

Instead she felt a mighty force. It wasn't enough to kill her, but it was enough to knock her off her balance. She fell to the ground, yelping as she grabbed her face. It was stinging, like she had been hit. But she hadn't been.

Still on the ground, she kept her back turned to him. Her face hung limply. Her long, now matted, hair covered most of her face. Her chest heaved up and down, only this time not in exasperated breaths. No, this time, she was sobbing. She weakly stood up, her legs shaking as they supported her weight. She hadn't even noticed the human who was resting on a nearby tree.

She turned her head to Marlok. Her eyes weren't as wild with fury as they were before. They were rather dull looking now, dull and red from tears. The tiny pools of liquid formed in her eyes, then spilled over and ran down her cheeks. Her eyes darted to the sword Marlok held out to her, then back up to him.

She slapped the blade out of his hands and shouted as it skidded to the side, "I don't want your stupid dumb sword! I hate you! I hate you!" She stamped her feet in a similar fashion to a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Without a second thought, she turned around and darted further into the trees. She spotted the human as she began to make her descent into the forest, but wasn't able to see much of him. Marlok would have to deal with him. What she wanted right now was to get as far away from the water fairy as possible.
