War Of The Elements

His touch made her heart race as to two stood there, her hand in his, just staring into each others eyes. There was something different about him, something she couldn't quite put her finger on. He was wrong, but in the right way. That was her feeling, though even she didn't understand what that meant. His words, his smile... 'Miss Mottomo!'

A soldier came running up to them, spoiling her almost perfect moment. She quickly took a step away from Rehs, reluctantly releasing his hand and turned to her subordinate. She frowned at him as he slowed, cautiously approaching her. 'We must leave now if we are to reach the Earth Nation Capital.'

She crossed her arms across her chest as she eyed the soldier, wanting to scar him so he would learn not to interrupt her. Ignoring him, she asked her own question. 'How many soldiers are alive?' She asked quietly, her eyes scanning the horizon as the soldier shifted uncomfortably, not wanting to answer. 'There is just us...'

Her anger welled up as she grabbed the soldier around the neck. The Water Nation had killed nearly all of her men. She could barely control herself as she squeezed her hand around his neck before releasing him and falling to her knees, her hand clutched over her heart. 'I want revenge...'

Another string of silence came in between them as no words were rendered. To Shen, it was such a blissful and serene moment. He was actually feeling compassion for the first time, and he enjoyed the feeling. A Fire Nation soldier closed in on the two, and he felt their hands release. He felt like grabbing back at it, just to hold it for another moment but he knew that now was not the time. Apparently they had to leave now if they were to reach the Earth Capitol, and it seemed as if he was given yet another mission by another master. Shen had no problem with killing or doing mundane tasks.

Mottomo then asked how many soldiers were alive, and it turned out that it was just them. He watched her grasp the soldiers neck and lift him up before soundly releasing her grasp, and she fell to her knees. She wanted revenge, and his heart felt anger and sadness. Anger at his own nation for comitting such an atrocity, breaking the peace of the nations. Sadness for himself and her, not knowing if he could truly have a deep relationship with someone as Mottomo. He put his hand on her shoulder before trying to give yet another reassuring look. He had no idea if his looks were actually working or not.

"Come on Mottomo, let's go. This just gives us yet another reason to complete our task. We shall bring honor back to the Fire Nation by giving them a good report once we arrive back home."

What in the world was he saying? Home? Completing their task? He was acting as if he came from the Fire Nation himself.

She stared up at him, sadness and anger filled her eyes. She slowly stood up, her hair fell over her face as she began to walk towards the forest where the rest of the soldiers and the Captain waited for her.

How could the Water Nation be so heartless? The Fire Nation killed for purpose, for honour, not attack a defenceless target from behind. Flipping her hair from her face she sniffled and and lead her men into the forest.

The deeper they journeyed into the forest, the eerier it became. The light struggled through the thick canopy and the tree trunks were strangled by large vines. She slowed her pace, her eyes darting between the trees, as if expecting something to jump out and attack. To be honest, no matter how tough she may portray herself, she had always been afraid of the dark and she could barely hide it now.

He watched Mottomo walk off with a sad look in her eyes. Every time she gave him that look, it started to hurt him more and more. It felt as if he were letting down someone, and that someone was very dear to him now. Shen walked slowly behind her as she went towards the forest where the other soldiers and the Captain were waiting. The assassins homeland was emulating the events of the previous Fire Nation. They were becoming bloodthirsty tyrants who wanted to do nothing more than to kill and conquer those all around them.

The group went deeper and deeper into the forest and Shen stayed close to Mottomo, fulfilling his bodyguard persona while also filling his personal needs. He watched her dart her eyes around the forest as if she were afraid of something and Shen couldn't help but snicker at this. He gave her a playful punch to the shoulder as they all continued on.

"So, the girl that killed even one of her own nation's soldiers was afraid of the dark? Doesn't that seem a little ironic?"

Shen tried to lift up their spirits and to purge themselves of the mortifying mood, but he had no clue if he was succeeding or not.

Sakura nodded, looking back at where the fire nation ship had beem. Based on Nathan's smile, she had said the right thing, albeit she was only speaking from her heart. Not like she would ever admit that.

She turned to him, pushing him gently as he laughed at her. 'Shh! Please don't tell anyone...' Even in the dim light she knew he could see her red face. It was embarrassing to be afraid of something so stupid but it was something she had no control over. She feared more then she wanted to admit and she added one more to her list as she smiled at Rehs.

'I wanted to ask you...'
She slowed her pace, allowing her soldiers to take the lead as she walked next to him. '...Who's the blood belong to?' She tapped the collar of his uniform with her finger. Though most of it had been washed away from the oceans water, she still saw a few smudges, even in the dimness of the forest.

She really just wanted something to distract herself from the supposed 'danger' that lurked in the darkness around her and what better a distraction then him.

He gave her a smile. Shen completed his task by actually lightening the situation, and he also got the exact result that he wanted. The next question that came along shocked him greatly. She asked where the blood on the uniform had come from. Shen was usually clean about his kills, and he was surprised that he even left blood on the uniform. But he need not worry, he could give off a simple lie that would work with her.

"Oh, this? Back at home there was a criminal that I had to deal with, it was nothing major. Luckily, the knife he tried to slash at me was turned back on him. His blood must have got on my uniform."

A few crows were cawing in the trees, and it made the mood of the forest slightly eerier. Shen was not frightened by much, but he absolutely hated the calls of birds such as that. Instinctively, his left hand grabbed her hand and he waited for the other soldiers in the group to go on a bit farther ahead. He wanted them to have some time to themselves, and he also did not want the other soldiers of the group intruding on their little compassion trip. Or was it a date? Whichever way you said it, he didn't care. He wanted to be alone with Mottomo.

"You know, it is hard for me to express emotions...and I just wanted to let you know that you're very beautiful. I probably should not be saying this, judging by our current situation but I wanted us to be a little care free for the moment."

Rei was leaning against the deck of the ship as he admired the scenery. He could notice the soldiers running back and forth, preparing to leave. As time went by. Rei just waited for when the ship would sail towards the Earth Nation.

"Whats taking them so long?" He murmured. Noticing how the Captain of the ship just boarded it. Hoping things would speed up. Rei was quite eager to leave his nation and explore the other nations. Though little did he know what was gonna happen next. It would change his life entirely.

He crossed his arms and let out a sigh, through he was bored, he decided to do something that would interest him. He used his fingers to lit a fire like on a lighter. Back and forth. It disappeared and appeared. He was really bored.

The ship sounded its horn, followed by it preparing to leave the docks. "Finally" He uttered, as he walked inside the ship, towards his quarters.

"My name?....I'm queen Ash." The queen Raised her arms, sending 3 more towers of earth to rise from the ocean. A large group of fire nation soldiers landed among the docks, quickly making their way to the forest.

"We've been walking for 12 days, where are you taking us?" Bitterness covers Trevor's voice, they have recently ran out of food, leading to the walk being even more dreadful. "We have report's that the queen is at the docks." The Bender replayed with bitterness, Trevor have been asking for days where they where going, sadey until now he never got an answer. vines covers the tress, while Barly any light shown, then he saw them, fire nation troops. Trevor stopped, causing the earth benders behide him to stumble into him.

Nathan stood as The boat gently moved, The waves beneath it pushing it. Then, towers of earth rose from The sea, not far off from The others, surly they were earth nation towers. "We will arrive soon." His eyes locked on the docks.

Max sat silently as he saw The fallen people, then mumbling he said their preys and sent them to their God, this was The duty of The air nation, to bring peace and comfort. Then another blast came, sending The ground beneath Max and fang flying, along side them. "Underztood." Sakura replied, adjusting her cloak. Not like it needed much adjusting, it just felt right to adjust it at this moment.

She enjoyed his stories of his killings, really that is all she knew. She had been recruited by the Fire Nation at quite a young age due to her ability to bend fire and it had consumed her life. The cawing crows distracted her from her dark thoughts and back to her eerie surroundings but was once again distracted as her grabbed her hand, pulling her back to slow her down even more. She stared at him, a little confused. 'Rehs...' Was all she managed to say as she entwined her fingers with his, feeling her face grow red once again.

Her soldiers continued on until they were out of sight, unaware that the two had now come to a stop, leaving them alone. She had no idea what to say to him, his words made her feel all weird, in a good way. 'Rehs...' She repeated, looking down at their hands. A smile crossed her face as she looked at how perfectly they fit together.

What are you doing? Her mind was so mixed up. Here, stood in front of her was Rehs and as much as she wanted to deny it, he was amazing. Then there was her mission, a mission she had no other choice but to complete and something deep inside of her knew it was going to jeopardise what she could possible have with him. She raised her eyes to meet his and just stood there, enjoying his company.

It was the spur of the moment for Shen. He was not thinking with his mind anymore, but only with his heart. The heart that had been hardened over the years by being sent on ruthless missions to kill political figures and those of importance. His eyes met hers and he felt their fingers intertwine. The moment was truly blissful. This was probably the most enjoyable moment in all of Shen's life right now. The sounds of the soldiers chatter began to fade farther and farther away, and that is exactly what he wanted.

He listened to her say his name, his fake name. He wanted to reveal his real name to her at this moment, but it might crush her that he was not being true with her this whole time. This woman was his first love, the first person he actually had felt affection for during his whole life. He was not going to ruin his chance with her. His freed one of his hands from her grasp before taking it to her waist to hold it. He had seen many couples in the streets do this, but it felt slightly awkward to him. But for this moment, he would push the awkwardness away. Shen leaned in closer looking deep into her eyes, before taking a look at her lips. His heart was beating so fast it seemed as if it would leave his chest.

Shen did not know if it was the right time or not, but he did not care. He leaned in for a kiss, hoping she would comply.

How could two people in the midst of war find what she felt? Could it be possible he felt it too? Her stomach fluttered with the wings of butterflies as he pulled her closer to him. Her heart raced in her chest and all she could do was stare into his eyes. She had no doubt he felt it too. She raised her hand to his cheek, his hair tickled her fingers making her smile up at him.

She wanted him to and she was sure he wanted to as well. As he leaned in her heart stopped for that moment as their lips brushed against each other before she pulled him in fully for this kiss. He was gentle as he held her close to him, something that she wasn't used to but something she could get used to with him. The moment was almost perfect. She ran her hand through his hair, not wanting to break from the kiss just yet.

It had to happen eventually and she pulled away slightly, whispering his name against his lips as her eyes fluttered open.

The feeling of the kiss was amazing, and Shen felt like he was on top of the world for a moment. He enjoyed the touch of her hand against his cheek, he enjoyed her sent, and he adored her as a person and her personality. Their lips brushed for a moment, before they went in for a full, deep kiss. He was wondering what was happening to him at that moment. Shen, a boy tempered to be a person without emotions since the beginning of his life, was now feeling emotion. He had been missing out on a great part of life but now he had his own moment, and he would treasure it for the rest of his life.

He felt her hand run through his hair, and that made him grasp her waist a little bit tighter, but not to the extent in which it would start hurting. He wanted the moment to last forever, but he knew that they would have to stop eventually. They pulled back from another. Feeling and hearing her whisper his name made him shudder with delight. They stood there for a moment, and he was taken back, not fathoming what he had just done.

One of the soldiers noticed that the too were lagging behind and he came to check on the situation, seeing the two close.

"Aye, hurry up, I think we may be nearing the capitol, but I am not sure!"

He watched the soldier run back towards the group and Shen smiled at Mottomo before taking her hand and walked head, eager to complete their task. It was if he got a burst of gusto.

The moment was lost as the soldiers calls brought her back to reality, forcing her to pull her eyes from his. She stared in the direction of the voice as if not realising what was happening. Rehs grabbed her hand, his skin soft and warm. She gripped it tightly, her fingers through his as he lead her towards the group.

She looked down at their hands as he pulled her closer towards the group. 'Rehs i don't think we should...' She couldn't finish it, her words caught in her throat as she released his hand reluctantly. She couldn't let them know. Fire Nation soldiers are trained to be emotionless and those who go soft are no longer fit to serve.

Upon reaching the group she narrowed her eyes at the soldier that had seen them together. He gave her a small nod, unnoticed by the other guards. It was the conformation she needed that he wouldn't tell, though that wouldn't stop her from killing him when she got the chance. 'Lets go.' She said as she walked ahead of the small group, leading the way once again.

He was filled with joy and excitement while they headed towards the group. Shen felt on top of the world, and him completing his task with Mottomo was all he wanted to do right now. As they neared closer to the group, Mottomo rendered words of concern. It seemed as if she was afraid of something, but he did not know what. He noticed what she meant as they released their locked hands, and he finally came back to reality.

The Fire Nation soldiers probably did not show compassion for one another and that was the issue. He got too close with Mottomo back there, getting as far as sharing a kiss with her. He watched her walk to the front of the group and he lagged behind to be last, looking at the group of soldiers in front of him. He had to take time to clear his head and actually consider the consequences ahead from his actions. He looked up to the now darkening sky, seeing rain clouds form.

The clouds would bring water, and water is where he belonged. Shen had no idea if him or Mottomo could even be with each other, because one or the other would happen. The water would either douse out the fire, completely eradicating it or the fire would envelope the water, being too strong for the water to put it out.

The two were from totally different planes in this world.

They made it to the Capital just in time before the rain set in. She walked inside of what appeared to be a small tavern. Drunken Earth Nation civilians filled the room, some staring at Mo-Mo as she walked towards the bar.

'Would you happen to have any available rooms for me and my men?' The barkeep looked her up and down before spitting on the ground next to him. 'Not for you Fire Nation dogs...' This made her giggle as she grabbed his wrist, twisting his arm and releasing some energy to should him. A maniacal smile spread across her face as she watched him squirm in pain, completely at her mercy.

The commotion in the room died down and all eyes were on her. 'Now let me ask you again...' She talked slowly as she twisted his arm a little further. 'Do you have any vacancies?' The man could only reply with a small nod which was all she needed. 'Fantastic!' She exclaimed, releasing his arm. 'Here, for your trouble.' She dropped some coins on the counter, more then enough to pay for the rooms and any drinks her men may have.

As they arrived in the capital, Shen looked around. Civilians all around them would either turn away from them or spit in their direction. It seemed as if the Earth Nation wanted nothing to do with them. He shrugged as he followed the rest of the men into the tavern. He was OK with being hated, as he had experienced those feelings long before he even met Mottomo or the others of the Fire Nation.

He leaned against a wooden support beam looked at Mottomo from behind as she asked if there were any room vacancies. The manager of the tavern replied with a snappy remark, and Mottomo truly showed the man his place. She twisted his arm until he complied with her and said that there were in fact vacant rooms. She paid with more money than needed and Shen smiled in her direction. She truly had a fiery personality, using any means necessary to get what she wanted. He guessed that that was one of his preferences in women, to be straightforward with what they wanted. He looked around the tavern at the startled Earth Nation folk. They were truly hated here, and the vibe they were giving off made it seem as if they wanted the Fire Nation people to die.

Shen watched the other soldiers head up to their rooms and he shrugged, not knowing if he wanted to sleep or not. He turned his gaze back to Mottomo who was the only one of the Fire Nation with him. They had yet another moment to be alone and he walked up to her.

"Should we go around and 'scope' out the city? Maybe we can find clothes that would be better suiting for us in this part of the world."

Her smile faded, her fun was over and she thought better then to torment to poor man any further though she wouldn't hesitate to put any other civilian in their place.

Her eyes met his once more though this time she looked away. 'Out in the rain?' She hated water and it showed and she frowned at him but thought maybe he wanted another moment alone, though she couldn't deny she wanted that too. She nodded at him briefly looking up before leading the way outside.

Most of the street was covered, which she was more then thankful for and the moment he joined her she reached over, grabbing his hand and moving close to him as they walked, occasionally swerving to avoid the random leaks that dribbled from above. 'What was your plan?' She asked as she rested her head on his arm and stared up at him.

He watched her frown as he verbalized his idea about getting out in the rain. Judging from her body language, she did not like water but luckily most of the streets outside were covered. He felt that reassuring grab once more as her hand met his, and he smiled down at their hands for a moment. He was never going lose a chance of being alone with her. He watched her move from left to right, avoiding the dribbles from above. She asked what his plan was and he didn't really want to do anything else besides be with her. There was the issue of not having Earth Nation clothes to blend in more with the people, so he used that as his excuse for bringing her outside.

"How about we find a market stall and get some clothes that look more like that of the people who live here? That would cause the people to be less...hostile..."

His voice trailed off as he stared into her eyes for a moment while she looked up at him. Shen than shook his head before looking away embarrassed. She had even caused him to slur his speech and not enunciate his words correctly.
