The Plainsweepers

The three soldiers attacking the Magia didn't even come in contact with him before they were hit with lightning, forcing them to jump back into the ones behind them, their armors luckily enough to save them from extensive injuries. They all changed swords to specially forged blades that acted as magical lightning-rods. And then they continued their assault on him, sparing only the slightest glance for the metal object their opponent threw over them at the archers and mages, they had their back.
The metallic ball landed among the troops still coughing from the smoke, one of the mages put a magic shield over the thing, but misjudged its power. A small part of its shrapnel piercing the shield and hitting some of the nearby soldiers, their armor catching fire from the liquid that flew out with the shrapnel. Due to the mages having to avert their attention to put out fires on their fellow soldiers, they were more throughout when the Magia threw another two bombs, two mages shielding each of them. All of them had by this time however recovered, and the mages as well as the archers took aim at the two criminals by the taverna, the girl still hidden behind the Magia.

Jóv had found the lizard a stronger opponent than he had anticipated, two of his friends already dead, and himself having caught a kick to the stomach. Catching a look at the walking lamp fighting with his fingers like swords, and then looking back at the lizards crude axes, he made a sign for his men to give room, those closest swinging their swords just out of range a last time before jumping back. Eight battle-mages and almost 20 crossbowmen unleashing their load at their two opponents. Jóv couldn't wait to see the result, a big grin on his face.
His joy got short-lived as the magic and arrows were met with vegetation sprouted in a second from the earth. Some of his men dangling from branches and stuck in the leaves. He gritted his teeth as he started cutting away at the greenery.

The soldiers waiting in the forest got caught completely off guard when the Parosuln came through the window, with the Drow came round the tavern firing of an arrow into the face of one of them. And then there were suddenly wolves among them, causing their coordination to disappear completely. The archers further in among the trees focusing on them, the soldiers by the treeline left to surround the man and the woman as well as defend against those wolves that had went out of the trees cover. Five soldiers managed to get away from the beasts and quickly ran in front of the two criminals.
Two engaged the man from the front, a third going for his blind spot, being met by what looked like a big butterfly launching itself from the mans bag, biting into the soldiers neck. Simultaneously the remaining two were going for the woman. All of it to stall for time until the wolves were dealt with. And the Plainsweepers would be able to surround them completely.

Apparently these soldiers wasn't to be underestimated, as a single man managed to grab onto Tiger's saddle after the smoke attack. Just as the Escarian cursed his luck, Lily sent a small fireball at the man's vulnerable hands, forcing him to let go. "Lily, how many do you see ahead?" Tiger asked out loud enough for his familiar to hear from the wind, as the horse kept galloping up the road. Lily moved higher up in the air to get a better look, before returning to Tiger's side. "50 soldiers are blocking the road!" Lily screamed in her small voice as she fought to keep up with the fast horse. "You might want to keep distance for this" Tiger said, a small smile of excitement spreading across his face. They would have to turn left at the crossroad if they wanted to leave town, and 50 soldiers would be waiting for them there. He would have a few seconds to prepare the necessary spell, but Lily could protect them both from arrows. The air around Calibur began to freeze, as the runes inscribed amplified Tiger's power.

Tiger forced the horse to halt in the middle of the crossroad. Lily was quick to counter the incoming arrows, and the enemy mages would need time to cast their spells. The Battle Wizard rose his blade in the air, pointing directly at the soldiers blocking the road. "In the name of Vinter, I condemn you to Aether!" Tiger unleashed his spell, feeding Calibur with powerful freezing magic. The blade worked as a catalyst to triple the power and from the tip of the sword, cold ice and snow shot out in a thick beam and hit the clustered soldiers. The soldiers was frozen solid, and even the magic created by the mages was halted, and in the end shattered by the overwhelming cold. Tiger slowly got off the horse and took position with weapon raised. It was impossible to tell how many of them would be able to shake off the attack.

Sedianna felt the surge of Indoctrination force itself into her mind. She began to giggle before breaking out into a full fledged laugh. She spun the curved sword around in her hand before ducking down and below one of the blows. She in the half spin duck drove her foot between one of the soldiers legs. She ripped the man off of their feet before spin around to parry one of the blows. She felt the man on the ground grab ahold of her foot causing her to nearly stumble. She kept her balance and with her off hand sword drove it down after pushing the other soldier away. The noise of blade slicing through bone was heard as Sedianna drove the sword into him. She then spun the blade to get the blood off it before facing the standing soldier.

The man raised a shield and watched her closely as those on the ridge began to fend off the wolves. Sedianna looked at all the roots around them and began to grin. "Why don't I call forth the spirits of the forest.... I am sure they will like you... human." She said with a large smirk before moving slowly like a spider waiting to strike. "For House Baenre!" She shouted before the man raised his shield. He blocked her first strike but she kicked his shield making him stumble back leaving an opening. She ripped the shield from his hand after knocking his sword back. She spun around in the same motion and drove the sword through his neck and out his lower torsoe slicing him in two parts. Sedianna took a deep breath and composed herself. She then turned her attention to the soldiers that had dispatched the wolves and were Re-Organizing.

Zerax was about to throw himself at the enemies, when plants suddenly started growing in between him and his enemies. He looked over his shoulder for a moment, figuring the little one was the cause of it. It was slightly annoying, as he didn't have any more chances to fight, but at least he had cover from the archers and mages for a moment, at least. He quickly swung around, gave the two others a nudge and yelled "Through house! Back!" Before he lead the way into the inn again, running through the small building, and smashing his way through the back wall with his shoulder, only to find the archer there, fighting more soldiers. Zarex swung his axes at the two closest, cutting the one's head off, and splitting the other's head open! Zarex flings his axe at one of the other close by soldiers, scoops up the newly severed head, flings it at another enemy, then charges forwards, to retrieve his axe again!

Cainon stood further down the street watching the entire event unfold, thinking to himself, *young people*, when he was their age he had spent it chasing skirt, the old man turned around grinning at the memory.
"HALT OLD MAN" Cainon stopped and looked over his shoulder to see the two soldiers that were on their way towards him, "this is no place for an old man, get away from here before you get yourself hurt" Cainon just smiled and nodded like a senile old man. *If they knew that he was the once responsible for their suffering the other day, they would not be so kind* Cainon thought to himself, and started walking away towards a back alleyway that lead towards the outskirts of town.

A sudden light and a screeching sound coming from not that far away, the sound scared some sort of cat like animal that attached itself to Cainon's beard, causing him some undeserved pain, but decided to ignore it for the time being to explore what was going on. Cainon headed out of the alley and made his way to the main road out of town, where he found the young man with the smoke bombs and magic, fighting a group of soldiers and guessing by the frozen soldiers he was the one responsible for the cat in his beard.

Cainon quickly surveyed the area, one thing was clear and that was that the man on the horse was going to lose if nothing was done. Cainon found a ladder leading up on the roof near the town wall, if it now could even be called that, it's more of a long dirt hill with some pointy sticks in it. These were the thoughts occupying Cainon while he was preparing to rescue the young man. It did not take long for him take the things he needed out of his cube. Cainon waited for the soldiers to get in the right position before throwing two eggs, the first egg releasing a cloud of gas and the second egg igniting it. The fiery explosion sent most of the remaining soldiers to the ground unconscious or dead "GET OUT OF HERE YOU FOOL!" Cainon did not even bother looking if the man had followed his pristine advice and got out of there himself, making a b-line across the field towards the hill lands where he would be really hard to find.

It was quite fortunate that the girl Mirra did what she did; summoning the very essence of nature to aid them against these soldiers' assault upon the Lofty Horse. However, the soldiers were quick to take counter-action, as their blades met the greenery with such destructive intent. As the little girl and the Zar'Che barbarian stepped back into the inn, the bold Magia stayed behind for a little while. He surveyed that, because of the little druid's beckoning of the vines and flora, entangling upon the silver-clad soldiers, they were distracted beyond measure. With a dark grin upon his face, the Magia tapped into his great power, unleashing a devastating chain-lightning that was thicker in energy and wider in breadth. The lightning stabbed into the open areas of skin and flesh, able to incinerate those entangled soldiers from within and effectively turning vitals into ash. Those who were cutting the vegetation, however, were then met with great electrifying shocks and were then rendered paralyzed, at least for the time being. Stepping back into the inn, Mithranuil slammed the door. "Go, go, go!" He bellowed out, barricading the door with as many chairs and tables as he could carry.

Half draged half following she moved along the two men, literally out through the back of the tavern. Where they where met with more fighting as two other people already fought against the men stationed towards the direction of the forest.
The lizard man eagerly got him self into the fight. And in the chaos Mirra stumbled to the ground only to feel the vibration of arrows striking the ground near her. The archers now turning their attention towards them as the wolfs where slowly dealt with.

When the decapitated soldiers head came rolling in her direction the girl freaked and ran towards the forest. A few more arrows whistling past close to her. But she wasn't running completely mindlessly. From her pocket a small blue stone glowed and after saying a few words in an old language she dropped it. This time nothing instant happened but a low rumbling sound rose from underground and soon cracks spread as the ground turned like small waves.
Curses and shouts soon rose as the men fought to stand on the moving ground around them and some looked nervously at the trees as the wood complained from the movement.
In the meantime Mirra sought cover among the trees and turned around waving for the others eager to leave the town before she saw more blood.
It was her first time seeing a real battle and while she took it surprisingly well she was not eager to linger.

Plainsweepers

Jóv was cutting away at the vegetation as he saw a flash of lightning just to the right of him, making those of his men that had engaged the Magia light up, if it hadn't been for their blades they would have likely died, their armors having suffered a hit of the same lighting only moments earlier.

"Axes! Get through this shit! And get the men out of it and looked upon." he called back as his men tried to understand what had just happened, sometimes not even experienced soldiers dealt level-headed with the situation. It made him feel in charge of new recruits again. Some of the mages had unleashed fire, and were now putting it out as to not roast their own people. But they were quickly getting through the obstacle, there was just some vines in the way when Jóv jumped through. The criminals had already escaped into the tavern, and through it apparently, he could see them fighting with his men on the other side.

"Three parts! Get around the sides, those closest come with me!" the Plainsweepers were quick to comply with their captains orders, splitting into three parts apart from those laying on the ground injured or unconscious.

Outside the tavern the soldiers were getting picked off faster than they had anticipated, the five who had engaged the elf and the man already dead, and the lizard who had appeared through the tavern wall had chopped of the heads of two of them, and thrown his axe into the other along with a head. But these were not soldiers to be dumbfounded by their comrades dying, these were men belonging to the elite company of the Plainsweepers.
The thrown axe was easily evaded and three of them moved to stop the lizard, preparing themselves for his brute strength. Another four were already closing in on the two earlier criminals. The archers now free to shoot at their opponents as all wolves had been dealt with, unlike the other archers of the company these carried composite longbows, more accustomed to rapidly pin their enemies with arrows. All archers immediately aimed for the newcomers that hadn't yet joined the fight, as to not accidentally harm their own. The little girl seemed to panic upon the arrows falling down around her and the Magia, and she started running towards the forest, oblivious that it would make her a much easier target. Strangely she got under the trees without even one of them hitting her, it was like the arrows avoided her. They couldn't stop her from running past them into the forest, hurriedly dismissing her to focus on the Magia instead. But then the earth started shaking, and cracks appeared everywhere around them. Even the 20 soldiers running after Jóv through the tavern stopping to uncertainly look around them.

The soldiers guarding one of the ways out of time were at the same time caught up in their own problem. When the Escarian mage had come towards them they had unleashed a barrage of arrows while half of their mages kept magical shields and the other half prepared mainly arcane blasts to hopefully kill the criminal. But their arrows were averted by some small flying creature and before they had unleashed their arcane attacks the Escarian had hit them with a great ice-spell. The shielding mages only able to protect half of them, those caught in the spell saved from being completely frozen only due to their enchanted armors. The ones hit with the full force of it however unable to move from being surrounded by ice.

The soldiers quickly got up and started approaching the Escarian, their mages ready with new spells to protect them, and their archers ready to fire a new barrage. Then something small fell down among them releasing a big cloud of smoke, none of them saw the second little egg hitting the ground to ignite the gas and causing more chaos than the Escarians ice-spell. All the soldiers thrown to the ground and only the archers still standing, protected by their mages shields. The mages looked around them to find the one responsible and caught sight of something disappearing from a nearby roof.
They then returned their focus to the front, unleashing blasts of arcane might through the remaining smoke and dust, their archers shooting at what they thought was their enemy.

Dohemd

Just when he was about to cross swords with the two soldiers in front of him, a crash was heard from the tavern and the lizard came running to take their heads off with his axes. Dohemd turned towards the other soldiers who moved towards them, his butterfly suln flying up on his shoulder. He horridly watched the little girl run past him towards the forest, arrows raining down around her, letting out a sigh as he saw her making it there and past the archers. Moments later the ground broke apart around them, the soldiers loosing their balance. He didn't let the opportunity go by, and dashed forward with his swords out to the sides, moving past them hoping they would see it as an attack and defend. One of them was however smarter and managed a cut on his back as he ran past. Quickly entering the forest and lashing out with his swords towards the archer in his way, the man fell from the bad footing and didn't manage to protect his throat, falling to the ground clutching it as his blood sprayed out.

"Girl!" the Parosuln shouted out when he was only steps away from her, sheathing his swords quickly to pick her up as he continued deeper into the forest. Hoping the others would follow before the soldiers from the front would reach them.

"This is taking too damn long…" the Magia thought, gritting his teeth with sullen anger and impatience for the events unfolding before his very eyes. Now through the inn and into the woods, he and the company of the Zar'Che and the little girl found themselves against more soldiers. As an act of providence by higher forces, perhaps a unity of the gods or otherwise, the battle against the soldiers were coming to a halt, as an Escarian, a Drow-Dark Elf, a Parosuln, a Zar'Che, an elder Dreamer, and he, a Magia had fought together against the iron soldiers with such finesse. Most unfortunately, however, the little girl had fled through the woodlands. It was foolish of her to do so, but Mithranuil knew for a fact that the petiteness of her self would force the knights to digress their foci from her towards their more deadly foes. In a fit of rage and agitation, the exiled champion of the Magian people cocked his Atifithrim arm to the side and curled his sword-like fingers to prepare for the barrage of ranged projectiles flying towards them. As Mithranuil prepared for the worst, the girl's presence emerged once more in the form of her earth-shaking spell. This gave the Magia time to react in that short window of opportunity, by unholstering his shotgun and accurately earning some headshots, as he was a tad bit tired and famished from the two blasts of powerful lightning. He needed time to recharge and refrain from using his mystical reserves. With that, he dimmed his own lights down. The bullets of his personal, Magia-built gun had spiked, armour-piercing caltrops which could easily pierce unprotected flesh and destroy armour that wasn't imbued with magic. These soldiers' armours were different, however, and could take as much damage as they could deal. With that, he began to shoot, aiming for their heads. Any arrow that flew towards him were instantly sliced mid-air by his blade-like fingers. He had hoped something would happen soon.

Half of the soldiers was affected by Tiger's first attack. However, the soldiers in the front had been completely turned to ice, while those behind had been able to protect themselves. A single slash with Calibur and ice magic was turned to wind, shattering the frozen soldiers to ice cubes. But the enemy mages was getting ready, and the dozen of soldiers was starting to approach. Before Tiger could prepare a defense spell, smoke broke out between the soldiers. The chaos was doubled when the cloud of smoke exploded. Tiger didn't waste any second and followed up the attack by striking Calibur sharp blade down into the earth. The runes on the sword shined bright blue, and a few seconds later the fallen soldiers was impaled by sharp ice spikes, their armor failing to keep up with the attacks. The mages was too late to save their allies, as their attention had been drawn away. However, Tiger was defenseless with Calibur in the ground, and was only saved by Lily's ability to create a shield against the arcane magic and arrows.

This much firepower was too much for the small creature though, who couldn't protect both Tiger and herself. An arrow hit the unlucky familiar, before she was blasted by wild arcane magic. "Lily!" Tiger screamed as he got his blade free and looked up in the air where his companion had once been. He had no choice but to get the hell out of here, before he would meet the same fate. The horse was long gone, so Tiger was forced to break into a nearby house to get off road. 'Thank Endora, its empty' He thought to himself before moving through the rooms. He ran out the backdoor to enter the garden surrounded by a small fence. Jumping over that lead to freedom. He quickly threw a few magic traps that would set ablaze whoever dared follow him. He jumped over the fence and looked back a last time. For some reason he hoped the others had made it out alive. Then he ran for his life.

Zarex charged the warriors who dodged the axe, using the moment of distraction to it's fullest. And to add a bit more to the distraction, he attacked, by slamming his free hand through one of the soldiers' chest! "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOOOOD!" Using this momentary's distraction, he slams his axe into the other soldier's neck, ripped his hand free from the guts of his enemy to pick up the other axe and slamming it into the third soldier's head, ending another weakling's life! He slipped one of the axes into it's loop, grabs the barely standing body by the neck, and starts running for the forest's edge, using the body as a shield, yet he could feel at least two arrows hitting his armor and bouncing off harmlessly.

As he felt he'd gotten out of the archers range, for a moment at least, before dropping the body, chopping it's head off, grabbing it, and quickly climbing up into the nearest tree, holding the head in his tail. He started leaping from tree to tree, hoping to use the branches and leaves as cover.

Lizbeth was flying about near the border towns of the Federation and the Alliance. Not that she, nor her people, cared much for either side, they preffered to stay neutral and allow Uzuna's followers to flow in from both sides. Of course, this did earn some dislike from both sides, as the military force that Uzuna's domain held was both parts intimidating and one they desired.
Bringing her mind back to the task at hand, Lizbeth noticed something. In a town a few hundred yards off there appeared to be smoke, huge plants, and other racket. She decided to investigate. Swooping down lower and picking up speed, Lizbeth arrived quickly. She saw a large group of armored men doing batle with...well, a group of very mixed races. Lizbeth landed near a building that was closeby the tavern and made herself a hood from her wings. She looked around, trying to understand what was going on. She wanted to observe what was happening, besides, if these armored guys wer part of the Federation or the Alliance, she didn't want to get involved and make a bad name for Uzuna.

Plainsweepers

The soldiers tasked with guarding the way to the forest were suffering more and more shamefully, only the soldier who had dodged the lizards thrown axe surviving the encounter. And the man with the butterfly escaping past the other four soldiers, even managing to kill one of the archers. The reason for all of this was of course the local earthquake, disrupting the soldiers but seemingly posing a far easier hurdle for the criminals. Even then, the lizard and the butterfly-using man wouldn't have managed to escape if it hadn't been for the Magia starting to fire of his wierd gun. A kind of weapon that was not a usual occurrence in the central continent, but not new for the Plainsweepers as they had seen such things before.

Thanks to the shaking of the ground, only one of them got hit in the head with the sharp projectiles, and another losing consciousness from having the thing penetrate through his chest-armor. Which left only four soldiers and and eight bowmen to deal with both the Magia and the drow elf, of whom one now held the highest priority. As the Magia continued walking towards them gun held before him and the sword-like claws on his metal arm waving at the few arrows that had been fired in his direction, the remaining soldiers started regaining their footing and their wits. Pulling shields from their backs, big enough to cover all but their boots behind if they walked right, which wasn't an issue now that the ground no longer heaved.

Jóv got out the tavern with his own shield up, as did the 20 soldiers behind him, walking in a square formation with him in the middle front. They had seen the Magia unleash his magic arts at them, and while their enchanted armors had proved able to withstand it, there was no reason to take any chances. Add to that the gun he was currently doting, Jóv didn't recognize it, as it was probably a work of the Magia himself. Therefore he had ordered the enforced and enchanted shields and a formation meant to deal with groups of mages as well as heavy projectiles or cavalry charges coming at them.
As soon as the two groups coming round the sides of the building saw the formation Jóvs unit was in, they quickly shifted as well, their mages immediately beginning to charge the formations with defensive and strengthening magic as the soldiers brought down their shields and their magic-conducting blades, the archers took aim and held, not wanting to waste more arrow-bolts on the ridiculously lucky criminals, their future shots would be sure to hit.

The three formations began to form a downwards triangle with Jóvs unit at the tip, moving to trap the two criminals by thinning the formations to two-men thick lines, the mages covering behind them as they kept their spells flowing. He wouldn't let his mission turn into a complete failure. The only remaining opening seemed to be the ground where the lines would soon connect, the bowmen and the four earlier soldiers continuing to keep their distance without allowing for an easy escape through them, focusing on the Magia as he had continued shooting at them to make the soldiers shields become like practice-targets. They therefore didn''t pay as much attention to the drow elf, who had steadily moved sideways towards them, the moving soldier lines at one end having closer to her than to the Magia.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The dust and smoke settled moments later, leaving the mages and the archers staring at nothing but most of the units soldiers laying on the ground both pummeled by the fall and pierced by spikes of ice, some having penetrated their armors in places that would surely kill them. No sign of the Escarian mage. While the mages begun to look after their wounded the archers spread out to find any traces of which direction the criminal had taken.

The unit was intrigued by what had happened at the tavern, but they wouldn't leave their post until relieved from duty, so they continued searching every nook and cranny for tracks the Escarian or his savior might have left.

The girl tried to get out a word of protest, but it wasn't easy saying anything when carried at full speed through a forest. Finally she simply decided on squirming until he dropped her.
The landing hurt more than expected. Yet the girl stood up resolute and puffed her cheeks trying to ignore that her leg hurt like a living hell.

"We should wait for the others to catch up. Thanks to their stupid actions we are now all seen as a group of spies!"

The man had stopped in his tracks as the girl managed to slip out from his arm. Now he turned back towards her, resting his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath.
"Well, I'd rather not wait on them, but if you say so. I could really need a break. Mena! They didn't hurt you did they?" he said as he sat down on the ground and the butterfly-looking creature crawled out of his bag. Shaking its head as it climbed up on his shoulder.

"Well since we are in it together it's better to stick as a group. Besides" She hesitated and then looked away. "it's more like an adventure that way" Mirras eyes didn't stay averted for too long though, the strange little being on the parosulns shoulder caught her eye and she gave it a curious look. The bird-sized ryfhol looked back at her with two grid-covered eyes, its four wings making small fluttering motions, then it suddenly launched itself into the air and fell towards her, flapping its wings to not touch the ground.
Mirra was shocked at first taking a step back but then as it seemed it was landing, reached out her arms allowing it to land. It took a moment but then the girl beamed at the cuddly little thing. "So what's your name?" The teen asked and looked at the man.
"Dohemd, and the little one is Mena, a ryfhol butterfly." he didn't add the fact that she would probably not know what a ryfhol was, but it seemed the proper way to introduce themselves.

Back at the tavern the soldiers closed the lines around the Magia, their anti-magic blades now exchanged for spears pointing towards him as the mages begun closing any chance to use magic against the Plainsweepers.
"Magia! Either you drop down or we make you drop, archers!" Jóv shouted more than pissed of at the current situation, the Magia had killed some of his men, and there would be no mercy.

Surrounded with no escape Mithranuil dropped his weapons. His shoulders sinking down in a sign of defeat. The soldiers then brutally subdued him to the ground and tied him up, there were no shortage of beatings given even for little things against this man that had killed their comrades.
Jóv nodded and turned towards the rest of the men.
"Start tending to the wounded it seems we will be staying to regroup. Corporal i need five able men to scout into the woods. Get me a trail." he said, immediately remembering the ones who had been assigned to guard the start of the forest. Nine of them were dead, and a tenth seemed like he would likely follow from his injuries. He called a few of the archers over to follow with the unhurt soldiers, not watching them go he turned around to survey the situation. Hadn't there been a drow elf among the criminals?
