Welcome to Wanderers Of Westeros!
This role-play is based on George R. R. Martin's series A Song Of Ice And Fire, and the HBO show Game Of Thrones.
It takes place shortly before the events of Book 1/Season 1, therefore there will be no spoilers for people who have not fully caught up with the novels or the show yet.
You can find the IC thread here.

Setting:
At the crossroads on the Kingsroad, on the outskirts of Lord Harroway's Town, sits the large Oldriver Inn. The ground floor serves as a tavern, always bustling with customers: as does the basement, which provides a great deal of warmth on cold winter nights. The upper floor is filled with rooms for travelers, which are often dingy and basic, but undoubtedly better than sleeping out in the open. Most Westerosi travelers come across this place sooner or later, whether they're headed for the Wall or Dorne, the Vale or the Reach.
The Innkeep is a large, friendly but brusque middle-aged man, Rolf, who inherited it from his father and intends to pass it on to his son Brynden. His wife, Lyla, also works there. (All 3 of these characters are NPCs).

Rules:
- Be polite and respectful to one another!

- Please fill in one of the character sheets (below) for your character and post it here before joining the roleplay.
- Each person is only allowed one character each, however their character may have other NPCs with them (pages, prisoners, etc.)
- Strictly OCs only please. You may, of course, refer to characters in the books/show (bearing in mind that this takes place just before the beginning of the series, so none of the events in the series have happened yet). Canon characters may also make brief cameos where appropriate, but you cannot use Canon characters as your own.
- The roleplay is not in one of the Libertine threads, therefore please do not post any 18+ content, either IC or OOC. Romance must fade to black, or happen elsewhere.
- No spam please! This thread is strictly for character sign-up sheets, you can find the OOC thread here.
- Similarly, please no OOC posting in the IC thread.
- Obviously, no god-modding or sues.
- Make an effort to post substantial posts, with correct spelling and grammar. Give people something to work with!
- Have fun!

Name: Bernard de Saint-Omer

Age: 28

Occupation: Hedge knight

Personality: Courageous, noble, pious, merciful.

Appearance: Blonde, blue eyes, beard stubble, wiry body, always wears his chainmail, sword, and white surcoat.

History: Bernard de Saint-Omer was born Bernard Florent of House Florent in the Reach. At a young age, as with all noble children, he was taught to fight with the sword and the longbow. But a boy with a passionate heart for justice, he at a young age became sick with the intrigues and corruption of the Court. As such he ran away from home to join a chivalrous order known as the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of the Order of the Temple of the Father, referred to most simply usually as the Knights Templar, though little is known about the fairly anonymous and secretive order.

The Order took him in, and gave him a new name; Bernard, from the village of Saint-Omer. With the name came his chainmail, his sword and his white surcoat, the blood red cross of the Order emblazoned on it, as well as vows of poverty and chastity. A hard life of training and war in the service of the Father awaited him. He gained many scars in battle, and slew many men the Father deemed as unjust. Like all of his brethren, his piousness led him to execute the justice of the Father against all evil, with indomitable fierceness.

Aside from his armor and sword, Bernard has very few possessions; An iron cross in a leather strap hangs around his neck, and his purse has a handful of silver coins as donated to him by those whose lives have been saved by his sword. He travels the roads of Westeros now in service as a hedge knight, protecting the weak and the innocent while upholding the vows of his order, and the justice of the Father.

Destination: Bernard is on a pilgrimage to King's Landing to pray at the Great Sept of Baelor.

Name: Catryn Oldriver

Age: 17

Occupation: Tavern girl / Unemployed

Personality: Argumentative, arrogant, stubborn, entitled, ambitious. She likes to tell people that she is part Tully, and thinks of herself as a highborn girl in the wrong situation. She will tell anyone she meets about all the 'fancy folk' she's met while living at the Inn, although many of her stories are greatly exaggerated. She wants to travel to King's Landing, as she is convinced that people in the city will recognize her as the 'Lady' she really is- there is nothing sweet about her naivety, though, as she has a foul mouth and generally unpleasant attitude to anyone who might try and point out how deluded she is.

Appearance: Short and curvaceous, with red hair, blue eyes and crooked/over-sized front teeth.

History: Catryn is the Innkeep's daughter. Her father's great-great grandfather was a Tully bastard, and her great-grandfather changed his name from 'Rivers' to 'Oldriver' to avoid being mistaken for a bastard himself. Catryn therefore prides herself on having 'Tully blood', and claims that that is where her hair and eyes come from, but in reality there is nothing high-born about her. She grew up happily at the Inn with her family, however she knows that she will not inherit it, given that she has a brother, and has therefore decided to leave home.

Destination: King's Landing, in the hope of becoming a 'lady'.

Allegiances:
Officially, House Tully, although she has no true knowledge of the world outside Lord Harroway's Town, and is unlikely to be loyal to anybody.

Name:
Ethenn Pyke

Age:
28

Occupation:
Night's watch ranger/wandering crow

Personality:
He is bold and rough of speech as well he should be in dealing with the scum and criminals he digs out of the dungeons. In battle he is honourable, but vicious and isn't above cheap tricks, should his opponent stray from honourable combat himself.

History:
Born a bastard to a sea raider of house Harlaw and a salt wife in the capital city on the island of Harlaw in the Iron Islands, Ethenn was treated as low as his ill-bred name allowed. Though, in time, he proved a strong lad and on the islands the two most common activities ae fighting and fishing, and Ethenn wasn't much of a fisherman. From alley brawls to the occasional raid of fishing villages of the north, Ethenn was fighting, killing, pillaging and raping before he was even half a boy.

But, as luck would have it, his brutal pastimes came to a climax when, at the age of nineteen, the Greyjoys declared independence and started their rebellion. In the chaos of war, Ethenn saw opportunity and was one of the first in the ships heading off to war and one of the first to land a kill in the sacking of Lannisport. Even when the Royal fleet clashed with the one he was in, he fought the losing battle with everything he had. Eventually defeated and captured, he was sentenced to death as were many of the other Ironborn survivors. But while the rest chanted "what is dead may never die" as they were destined for the chopping block, Ethenn chanted "I will take the black".

His fellow Ironborn called him gutless and a traitor, but he didn't care, they were going to die and he still had some fire in him and he was going to burn it for as long as he could by doing the killing he was destined to do. Several Northmen took him and several others to castle Black where he was taught to value of honour and loyalty; skills that earned him trust in return and they allowed him to be a wandering crow. As it turns out, his harsher methods of convincing prisoners appeared more effective than simply asking politely.

Destination:
Every dungeon and jail along the king's road and then back to castle Black

Name: Ayla Sand
Age: 20
Occupation: Bastard of a high born Lord in Dorne and now deceased courtesan lover.

Sand.jpg

Personality: She is quiet in many situations until provoked and then she can scarcely hold her tongue. Brutally honest and often off putting, she lacks the social graces of ladies and the good nature of a common woman. Very secretive and cunning, observes those around her and is curious about most everyone outside of Dorne.

Appearance: Olive skin, black eyes that match her long, black, wavy hair. She is shrouded in a veil at all times, adorned with jewelry, exotic, mysterious and beautiful.

History: Born a bastard to the Lord of the Red Dunes in Dorne and a Braavosi courtesan simply called the Veiled Lady, she was brought up on the edge of both the world of nobility and the world of the commonfolk. Her father kept her mother and her near his keep in the deserts of Dorne for a few years before her mother's death. Her father, attempted to raise her as a lady, but sheltered her from the social stigma of being a bastard and almost everything else. While nobility looks down upon her, the commoners never trusted her, she fits in neither world so eschews great disdain for both. Her mother died when she was young enough to just remember what her face looked like and her father began lavishing tutors, gowns and jewelry on her while withholding love, affection or attention. Her punishments for any supposed wrongdoings have been severe and swift by her father's command.

Destination: She is accompanying her father, Lord Vaith, and guard on his journey to King's Landing, he's not been forthcoming about why she accompanies him, nor does she question it.
Allegiances: :
None. Her father swears allegiance to House Martell.
