Very new, very nervous.

Hi, I'm Cat, and my friend told me about Iwaku and it sounds pretty amazing. So, I'm finally here, but... god, I have no idea where to go. No idea where to start. No idea how to act. Honestly, I'm just extremely anxious about this, and I really don't want to mess up and look like a fool. If anybody has some advice for me, I'd be exceptionally grateful.

Some things in particular I'm confused about...
-What does it mean to be in the earth clan, ice clan, etc...? Does this matter?
-Where am I welcome? I know the knee-jerk answer is "Oh, anywhere! We're a welcoming community!" But, in all honestly, I'm sure that some groups and forums and such are not looking for me to join them. So, I don't really know how to get out there and start role playing, because I'm not sure where to do that.

No other specific queries come to mind, but I really need some assistance/advice pertaining to the general works of this site. I know there are some welcome pages and such, but I always appreciate speaking directly to an active user.

Sorry for the vague nature of this cry for help, but any responses would be appreciated. (:​

I like to say welcome to Iwaku. I am glad to see you joined we have everything from chat roleplay to thread and pm roleplay what ever you prefer. I am not going to lie to you I am not a admin or staff just a member being helpful. Make sure to read the rules, if you haven't already, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. If you are new to role playing in general, welcome we have many helpful tips, and discussions. We also have many Helpful staff and memebers.

If it is a major problem with a member inform the staff immediately. If it is a problem with the site their is a bug report in help desk. Normally happens with updates.

Well, the clans are for ilium, I'm pretty sure. So, they're not completely pointless or to be ignored, but if you don't want to take part in the ilium roleplay, then don't worry about it.

As for where you might or might not be welcome, it should be pretty simple so there isn't much to worry about. Check the sign-ups sections of the type of roleplay you're interested in and any roleplay which says it's closed or invite only is not taking sign ups from just anybody. If you're concerned about writing ability, if it matters at all for the roleplay in question, you should be able to see what they're looking for if you just check the topics' tags, so yeah, it should be pretty hassle free. You're a teen member, so the only places that are really off limits are the libertine rp sections. You have liberteen, instead.

Was there anything in particular you meant by 'not being welcome' aside from what I mentioned? I feel like I might have misunderstood.

Don't be nervous. We're really a nice community here. No need to be nervous. On the main page you will fiND the "seeking one on one partners " and also the "group sign up thread" depending on what you like. There are also forums for people advertising their role plays.

If you're confused about anything send me a PM. I'd be happy to answer your questions.
