Vault of Inspiration (Music and Images)

Hmm... it's been awhile. Sorry about that.

Instead of focusing on a single musical artist, I'll instead go with a genre. Here are a few songs that could easily be placed in an Oriental environment.

Artist(s): Faran Ensemble

Title: Geshem (Rain)
Genre: Epic World/Oriental

Scene: "Papa, look! There's the herd up ahead!"

There was no doubt about it. The gazelle the father and son were hunting had finally stopped at the watering hole they were camping near. Holding his finger to his lips to silence the boy, the father handed his son a bow and a quiver of arrows.

"Keep your arm steady," the father whispered, crouching a couple feet away. "And don't stray from your target."

Slowing his breath, the boy focused upon a grand male, one that would easily feed his family as well as his neighbor's. The arrow flew effortlessly into the gazelle's throat, but startled the others. The father fired off an arrow of his own, but merely caught a female in the back of the leg. Not wanting to lose his mark, the father scrambled to his feet and began dashing after the injured beast.

"Papa! Wait for me!"

Title: Aki
Genre: World/Oriental

Scene: The calm before the storm. That was what the soldier kept telling himself as he waited anxiously for the dawn to come. In truth, he didn't wish to ride out to meet with the enemy, but orders were orders. Disobedience under his General's watch meant death.

Title: Bad Apple!! Traditional Version
Genre: World/Oriental

Scene: Gather around, one and all! Stay awhile and listen! We have for you today a classic tale of young souls who carry the flames of Light. Youths who are destined to dispel the great Darkness!

Yenna has an impressive collection of ball-jointed dolls. These dolls are the main focus of Yenna's photography, allowing for entire stories to be told through a series of images. Some of the props, backdrops, and clothing are crafted by hand, giving a more personal touch to the subjects. The wide variety of dolls as well as their customization makes for very interesting photographs. Personally, I find these sort of dolls fascinating, though I'm sure pediophobics as well as my wallet would disagree. These sort of dolls average around 150-200USD. o.o

But I digress. On with the photos!

One thing I would like to point out is Yenna prefers for permission to be asked before sharing any photos in the collection. Should you find an image that suits your fancy and you wish to borrow it for a role-play, please be courteous to the photographer and ask first.

I know it's breaking the usual pattern, but let's focus on another deviantART artist. AJ Bartoe, also known as kyuubifred, has several pieces that focus upon something that we may not put much thought into when it comes to our characters: The number of layers our characters would actually wear on their travels. Granted, outfit breakdowns are nothing new, but it never hurts to think about just how much we're putting on our characters.

A pair of young cellists, Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser, have taken their cellos to a level of awesomeness, even taking their work to concert level all around the world. Now, since I am sharing their cover works of famous songs, I'm not going to post scenes for these. Because let's face it: you're more likely to think of the artist/movie the songs originate from.
