Name: Tanya Jones
Age: 32
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Height: 5'4"
Appearance: With plump cheeks and a round face,
Tanya looks younger than she is, and that sometimes results in her not getting the respect she expects from her colleagues. She keeps her hair on the shorter and straighter side and wears minimal makeup while on the job. She usually looks pristine when in uniform, even composing her appearance once more if she has to return to her desk after a tense situation.
Background: Officer
Personality: Contrary to her very stiff dress, Tanya can't be bothered to be a stuck up or icy person. She believes that in order for her squad to be efficient, they need a leader who works as hard as they do and shows that they understand exactly what the officers are going through on a daily basis. As a result, she doesn't hide her frustrations when raids don't go as planned and she certainly doesn't reward a job well done with callous or clinical quips. She always seems as though she's planning ahead and even in moments where she lets her temper or disappointment flare, there's a sense of restraint to her, because she believes in the future, things will get better. An optimist at heart, she solves problems by getting involved and refuses to let people pass blame around.
History: Born in Vanaheim into a lower middle class family, she was raised with her two brothers by loving parents, Jarod and Vanessa. Jarod was a police officer in the VPD, as was his sister and their father before them. The Joneses had a fairly long history of policework, but it was nothing special. Jarod was promoted to detective and stayed there, while Tanya's aunt, Carma, continually worked the lowest jobs and stuck mainly to paperwork as her legs started to act up. From what she understood, her grandfather wasn't a spectacular cop, either, and he eventually retired to work security. Her older brothers both went off to pursue their own ambitions, Ruben became a journalist and local newscaster and Jordan played football right out of college. She decided, after trying out many dead-end jobs that left her stuck at a computer or behind a desk, that she wanted to go into the force. Her grades had always been good, she was psychologically stable enough to pass the exams, and she had kept up with her jogging and gym visits enough to make the cut.
Tanya proved she had a good head on her shoulders and surprised her superiors when she denied an offer to work as a detective, as she remembered her father's dissatisfaction with that line of work. Instead, she found her determination rewarded when she was able to move up the ranks that would eventually lead her to Sergeant, and from there, could point towards higher leadership and becoming Captain of the station. Instead, soon after promotion, Tanya was informed that she was to be leaving behind her fledgling squad and working with a new unit that was going to be comprised of mainly convicts and civilians, particularly those that had been banned from police service for years. In her experience, she hadn't encountered too many supernatural citizens of Vanaheim, and she initially considered it a slight against her. After all, if it was a job of any prestige, the Captain would likely offer it to the apple of his eye, Jim Ramirez.
After some days and nights spent considering the odds, she decided to take the position as the leader of this cell. Since they would be operating fairly separate from the VPD, she felt it might remove her from candidacy for promotion, but it also excited her to think that this group could make a large difference on the streets where an all-human department was starting to lag behind. Tanya became the head of this group under one condition: she wanted to bring an officer that served under her, Dirk Christopolous, on as well. It was granted.
General Skills: Tactical and procedural know-how, law enforcement derived knowledge of the streets, good shot, calm under pressure, networking within the police department and a web of informants
