He rolled his eyes, thinking about the question for a minute. "Hm. Yeah. I suppose so." He nodded his head, following her. He peered out the window, looking at the sun. "Huh...pretty." He yawned, rubbingn at his eyes. He was gettig tired now, and hungry.

He gazed up at the vampire tiredly, blinking slowly.

"Do shifters hunt?" Jezebel finally asked, curious about the boy. She could hear his stomach growl and she wondered if they hunted or they would just buy regular human food. They were sort of human and they did live on the same nutrition system as humans did.

"Your stomach is loud." She added. "You better get some food in yourself."

"Sometimes, yeah. Well, I do, anyway." He answered, shrugging. He looked around, scanning the building.

"Are there any mice or rats or anything round here?" He asked, turning his attention back to the vampire. "Yeah, it is." He agreed, nodding his head at her previous statement.

Jezebel made a face. Even in her previous life, rats and mice were disgusting. She shook her head. The abandoned house might have some, she didn't know but the rooms that she tended to favor were devoid of them which was why she made them her temporary base whenever she took shelter here.

"Somewhere around I guess." She said warily. "Try the basement if you must." She did not care as long as she didn't want to watch him eat. Disgusting.

He nodded his head, and shifted to his fox form. He didn't have much energy left, so he'd have to hurry up. He ran quickly down towards the basement, where he paused, sniffing around. Yes. There we go. He could smell the rodents, it was strong, disgusting. This place was just teeming with them, creeping around in the dark, hidden from sight. He caught sight of ine and tore towards it. It tried to run, but he snatched t up just in time. He carried the struggling creature out in his jaws, making his way back to the room Jezebel was in. He sat himself down in the corner, flattening his ears down against his head. The rat was making the most horrendous sound. He growled quietly and but down, hard. The rat went limp with a dull snap, silence once again filling the room.

Jezebel stared incredulously at Codak and the rat he was gnawing on. He had obviously caught it elsewhere so why couldn't he just have eaten there instead of bringing it up and eating it in front of her?

"That is absolutely disgusting." She told him, not bothering to hide her disdain.

Jezebel sniffed as she looked away. Unfortunately with her heightened senses, she could not only smell the dirty rat and its blood but she could hear the loud crunch as Codak continue to eat it. How nauseating.

He grinned, an odd sight for a fox. He let out a small chortle as he held the rat furmly between his paws, ripping off small chunks of flesh and swallowing them happily. He licked some blood off the floor. He didn't see how this was much different than watching her feed, but meh.

He felt his strength slowly returning to him as he continued to eat. Finally, the rat was nothing but a pile of bones, licked completely clean.

"It probably carried some communicable diseases." Jezebel told Codak as he continued to munch on his meal. She suspected he was being more crude and louder than usual just because she was displaying her disgust at his actions.

She returned to watching the world outside from her spot at the window. In an hour or so, the streets would start filling up with humans again. Her eyes jumped to Codak. He didn't belong to the shifter clans. Was he part of the human world then? Somehow Jezebel doubted that, he didn't seem to belong there either.

He shrugged. He didn't care. He stood up, stretched, and lickign his lips, paws and chest fur, cleaning it of blood.

He padded over to the vampire, brushing against he leg momentarily, before jumping up onto the windowsill, looking outside. He wondered what the vampire did normally. He usually spent his time sleeping, or watching people. Sometimes hunting, exploring and such. He felt as though he didn't fit in with anyone else. He didn't know any other shifters, so it could get pretty lonely at times, but he dealt with it.

She had wanted a pet for very long. Far longer than she had been a vampire really. With the fox sitting next to her, Jezebel reached out, more hesitantly at first, her fair fingers stroking a path from the fox cub's head down its back, rubbing lightly at its fur. It was surprisingly soft and Jezebel giggled in delight, stroking it a little more confidently.

"I've never had a companion before." She confided wistfully. Well, she had a sister of sort in Iridia but the older vampire didn't seem to like her. So perhaps Codak was the first person-pet-thing to her.

He nodded his head slowly, his tail curling around himself. He closed his eyes and pressed his head up against her hand, enjoying the feel of her hands running trough his copper fur. It was a nuce sensation, one that he hadn't really experienced before. A light purr started up in his chest. Alot of the time, when people heard him purring as a fox, they were suprised. This he didn't understand. Foxes purred it was normal.

She sat there, her fingers continuing to run through Codak's fur as it purred almost contentedly. Just like a cat, Jezebel was amused to find out. He was probably sleeping, she figured.

Eventually she withdrew her hand, her eyes watching the outside world with some sadness. Pushing herself off her seat, Jezebel walked out of the room quietly, not wanting to disturb the sleeping fox. It was just a little past midday by then and she was feeling restless.

He had indeed fell into a light doze, lulled to sleep by the female stroking his coat. His ears twitched however, when she stopped petting him, and he could hear her retreating footsteps. He tilted his head to the side and got up, stretching his legs out and scratching behind one of his ears. He shook himself, then jumped nimbly onto the ground, walking quickly after her.

"Why do you stay in your fox form?" Jezebel asked. "Why not be human and live among them?" She waved her arm out to the world outside.

As a vampire, she couldn't. She didn't know why but there was just something innate about vampires that tended to stick out which was why she was forced to stay away from civilisation.

He looked up at her, mouth opening slightly in an 'are you fucking serious?' Kind of face. There was no way he could live among them! He just... Didb't fit in. Besides. He as happy as a fox. It juust felt... Better. Ya know?

Jezebel shrugged at his silence before taking a seat at the bottom of the stairs, her eyes on the closed front door.

"You don't have to stay here with me you know."

He snorted, rolling his eyes. He pushed his way onto her lap where he sat down, pressing his head lightly agaisnt one of her hands, nudging it softly with his nose, the damp little black thing twitching.

Jezebel stared at him bemused. "I have killed people for less offences than lying in my lap." She said, although there was no heat in her words.

She was so lonely and so alone that she was now talking to a shape shifter who was in its animal form.

The fox stuck his small, wet, pink tongue out at her in mock defiance, wriggling around a little, naking a point of getting himself comfy. Once satisfied he curled his tail around himself and rested his chun on her knee, ears twisting round towards her direction.

Jezebel poked the fox lightly. "I mean it. I will snap your neck." She said but she didn't, instead flopping back against the staircase.

There was truly nothing to do and what's more she had a lazy lump of a shape shifter taking up residence on her knee. She hummed lightly, recalling a lullaby she heard once, her hand going back to cup and rub at the fox's ears.
