Okita was sure her friend would be alright. He was that sort of person, getting along with most and ignoring social convention if there was a chance of a pretty face. And if they saw only that and ignored the way he walked and the strength in his grip, all the better. It was nice to have something to rely on at this school. Ye gods, this school! Cross Academy, once home to a secretive society of humans, hunters and vampires! Now all of a sudden, intermingling in classes and bearing their own dorms and the like. The world was changing and her generation would be entrusted with what happened next. She hid a scowl with practiced ease and reached for another mint, content for once to hide behind much taller students as she looked around with a practiced eye. A dangerous woods...A lake... Picturesque but overall, not what she was looking for.
A lot of purebloods and aristocrats this batch. Lot of heirs to clans and what not. A tempting target for anyone seeking to make a statement, right? One big dorm, one bomb and you wipe out almost everyone. That's why so many hunters are here too, right? Or people with the power to make a difference in that regard.
Okita crunched a mint between her teeth and activated her Sight.
A silver coloration bleed into her iris, as she used the long range aspect of her families gift to zoom in on the Moon Dorm. They were never fighters. Not on the level of other Hunter Clans. Theirs was an ability for spying and peeking at keyholes. To look for secrets and uproot them. Right now, after lingering on the crowd crossing the bridges, she peered at the gates. Hmmm....
It was a joke for any who thought it'd dissuade a really determined vampire or hunter, but it was the principle of the thing, wasn't it? You put up great walls and fancy locks and turned it into a symbol. Here and no further, this was the line in the sand.
She blinked and her eyes returned to normal, as she turned her attention back to the teacher.
And took careful note of the people who spoke and got his attention. Kiryu seemed of a suspicious frame of mind, focused on the 'Me vs Them.' If you weren't a Me, you were a Them and that always was a mind to watch. Hunter too, undoubtedly. It was the kind of thing a more martially aligned clan would think of.
The other spoken to got her attention in another way. It was the human again and the huntress...There was always something about it, but for Okita's sight it was mostly in the way the jewelry glowed in her vision. She had little doubt that if she wanted, she could most likely pick up the boy and tie him into a pretzel. And here he was, carrying one of her bags.
That was kinda sweet actually.
A ghost of a smile flickered at the reaction and subsequent laugh before she turned her attention back to the teacher.

There was a definite hesitant pause to her words, about what he could get here that he couldn't at home, as well as the mention of friends. Seizing a lifeline from her last questioning statement however, Arthur would smile ruefully as he spoke.
"I'm not entirely sure myself. I was hoping you'd know." The sheer hilarity of it hit him then, as he laughed at the idea and followed after the group slowly. The bag wasn't so heavy and it was just something to be Done. You treated the fairer sex with respect, you held open doors for them and if they had a heavy bag, you helped them with it. It was the principle of the thing and ingrained in Arthur that it was second nature now. Besides, there was more important things really.
For him, it was the Academy surroundings. He was half expecting walls of stone and courtyards but instead, this place seemed more wild then anything. It seemed to strike a chord in his companion at any rate, her eyes lit up by what must have been a measure of familiarity in a strange land. He could emphasize. He didn't realize they were gawking however, until the teacher told them to catch up.
Though unlike Ayana, his only reaction to the teasing was a brief smile followed by a glance to her to ensure she was alright. Seeing the steam rise from her ears, he decided discretion was the better part of valor as they moved along. He didn't quite care what anyone said about him to be frank...He was secure in his name and was determined to show by actions what sort of person he was. And if someone teased him to be close to a friend, what of it? It was a compliment indeed, if they thought he had any chance with Ayana.
It must be said here that Arthur was completely unaware of his effect on people. He had a Code and he had a Word that together, made for a Name that he strove every day to be worthy of. He was refreshingly direct that way to everyone. The other was that a boy who spends all his time with machines and deep in stories about knights, tends to develop a rather befuddling mindset. The sort of man who could tell you a thousand facts about a combustion engine but forget he leaves his glasses perched on his forehead everyday. Ask Arthur to name a heraldic symbol or to fine tune a motorcycle and he would do either in a flash and a smile. Ask him about some of the more subtle social cues such as a woman's blush and he would merely tut and apologize for the insinuations of others.
Which was why instead of blushing at the reminder when Ayana used the teachers words, he would instead say brightly.
"Well, I have a chess set if you like that sort of thing. Though I'm rather keen to explore the grounds myself. Do you think they'll have a garage around here?"
Near them, a rather short student with pink hair nearly choked on her mint as she strove to hide her laughter.

"Yes your headmaster-ess sah!"
Henry delivered with a flourish and a salute that would have brought tears to the most rabid drill Sargent.
He also continued to spin idly, listening very carefully despite the childish mannerism. He was friendly enough it seemed, of that there was no doubt. He reached out on his first day and was willing to do so again with much aplomb. The moment questions were expected to be forthcoming, Henry raised his hand.
"I've one question. Is it jacket required? I think I have a bowtie somewhere..."
-----
Within Henry, Matthias stirred to watchfulness.
Damn Henry, bringing them here of all places. Too many powerful vampires and their sheep, none of which made the Hunter at ease. You didn't chop up the whole log to make a fire, you whittled it to kindling. At least in the city, he could prowl by night and the Hunter Association could cover his expenses and tracks. He would have to do his best to learn these new hunting grounds, these new territories. It was with this intent that he pulled a lever in the mind and outwardly-

-Henry added as though it just occurred to him.
"Oh! Also, I was wondering if I could have permission to wander the grounds, the woods in particular? On my way here I believe I saw a patch of Atropa belladonna which I simply must have for my laboratory! Who knows what else might be out there, ripe for the taking!"
