As the Royal Bearer of the Legendary Sword Joyeuse, the Crown Princess of Bordelaux serves as a beacon for her people. The Princess of Bordelaux displays a legendary charisma, charm and passion often unseen by her people. Kind to everyone she meets, her fiery conviction on the battlefield is not nearly as legendary as the compassion she shows to her enemies. Soft spoken when face to face, her gentle voice quickly transforms into booming rallying cries when riding across the battlefield.
Her kind personality is not without its faults, however. The Princess finds herself too easily trusting of others, often unable to discern a truth from a lie. While she can understand the pain of others, she has difficulties communicating her empathy, often coming across as "holier than thou" to those under her. Her always serious conviction makes it difficult for her to see humor in life, living each moment as an atonement for her sins rather than enjoying them.
She loathes her femininity, seeing her female birth as a curse and therefore making her ineligible to fulfill the Bourdelaux Prophecy. She fears her country may not survive the coming apocalypse due to this.
A well-known prophecy of the Bourdelaux people was that a Prince would someday be born on the night of twin moons, marking the reincarnation and return of Gilles d' Leoncoeur, Bourdelaux's first King and founder before the Empire. It was expected that the Prince of Twin Moons would bring the country to their next golden age and protect the Kingdom from the Reckoning, a coming apocalypse that threatens to destroy their kingdom.
Occurring once every fifty years, Princess Aurélie would be the first to embark upon the prophecy. Crown Princess Aurélie d' Leoncoeur was born to Emperor Nero d' Leoncoeur and his wife, Empress Amelia d' Gisoreux in the capital city of Couronne on the night of the twin moons. While it was a Princess born on the night of twin moons and not a Prince like the prophecy foretold, Bourdelaux's begrudging recognition as women as suitable heirs to both property and the throne still brought expectations of greatness from a young age.
A daughter of the Royal Leoncoeurr dynasty, the Crown Princess was immediately groomed to become the heir to the Empire. Receiving education and training, it quickly became apparent that the Princess was in fact, quite different. More interested in the sword and horseback riding than living the lavish life of a spoiled Princess, Aurélie displayed her wish to protect her people from a young age. While most royal families would disagree with such an upbringing, the Royal Family of Bourdelaux was instead proud of their daughter's fiery passion, also influenced by the foretold prophecy that lingered over the Princess' head.
When she was sixteen, the Princess accompanied her father on the Eastern Campaigns, a military campaign known for its brutality and death on both sides. While confined to the safety of the King's well-guarded tent, Aurélie was able to learn about the suffering of her people, the atrocities men happily committed against one another while on the battlefield.
When she learned that Sir Roland, one of her mentors, had been killed in combat during the Battle of Jules, the Princess defied her father and left the safety of the Royal Camp, stealing a horse so that she could join the battle on her own accord. By the time she arrived, her father's army was in full retreat, men fleeing for their lives as they were cut down in droves. It didn't take a military genius to see that the battle had been completely lost.
According to legends however, a sixteen year old Princess Aurélie rode valiantly among the broken ranks of men, her pearl hair a slipstream behind her as she charged her way between a maelstrom of arrows and spears to reach the front line.
"Come, brave hearts of Bourdelaux! We do not run! Let us face this storm together!"
To the enemy's amazement, the army of Bourdelaux reformed around their Princess, reinvigorated and willing to fight to the bitter end. The enemy army was shattered, driven away at the very precipice of victory. It was this day that the Princess became hailed as a Living Saint by her people. Bestowed with the legendary sword of Joyeuse by her people, she stands with her people as a hero and Princess.
