Becoming A Wrestler: Useful tips and Advice you never asked for!
  • Make sure its SOMETHING you want to put all your effort in. Training, keeping your fitness levels in tip-top shape are things that require your attention as much as you can give. Not everyone can hack it, but you will learn this probably in your first week.

  • Look for the nearest wrestling academy in your area whether it's Professional or "Amateur"(in fact, amateur wrestling gives you an advantage and some really neat mat awareness and other stuff when transitioning into Men Soap Opera Fighting :p.). Hell, even just joining a regular gym that has classes in kickboxing, Judo, etc really helps and give you combat knowledge, and, you know, being fit helps a lot.

  • Be Reasonable with limits. Not everyone will be Art in Motion like high flying legends Rey Mysterio Jr, Hayabusa, etc or magnificent promo cutters like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, CM Punk. Maybe you don't have the gift of the gab? Work on your in-ring prowess more to compensate for it, it also works vice versa just do NOT completely ignore your weaker areas. A lot of the all time greats are remembered for numerous things.

  • Be reasonably athletic. No, seriously, even the most ardent technical wrestlers and powerhouses show levels of some athleticism. having little to no athleticism will impact your longevity. A good lifespan of an active wrestler is 20 to 25 years give or take a few years depending on how early or late you properly start.

  • Invest in proper in-ring gear. It can be as stylized and flashy as you want, just DO NOT go "I can pull off the jeans/average joe look!" Even the likes of Mick Foley and Dean Ambrose have worn your typical cookie cutter attire. Not everyone is a Mick Foley or Dean Ambrose as well, let that sink in quickly.

  • LEARN TO FUCKIN SELL MOVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, the whole point to wrestling is to tell a story with your opponent in the ring through your body. If your opponent really works on your arm? sell it, make it legit, same goes for any part of your body. Don't immediately walk it off after a couple seconds. from the time your walk to the ring up to the time you're walking back to the locker room? you are selling everything to the crowd. Trust me, its a skill that will make you really successful land garner more booking opportunities and it shows you're at least are able to make it somewhat believable.

  • Be prepared to "Job" to someone. "Jobbing" is essentially you losing to an opponent to put them over with the crowd. Whether it's a monster heel powerhouse that squashes you in seconds? to the high flying Wizard showing his dazzling repertoire of flashy holds and moves? you are expected to do some jobbing, especially if you're starting out.

  • You will be expected to "Pay your dues" for the first year of your professional wrestling career. This is basically you working hard like a work horse but getting to little to no pay. This period is you building respect and connections within the wrestling business. It's expected by everyone to do, heck back in the day, legends now had it a lot harder. It's harsh and unfair, but it there to make sure you're committed to your craft.

  • Your gimmick is vital to sell your character to the crowd. from your gear to your entrance theme(yes, this is important too) it tells the crowd who you are. Incorporate various moves, holds and strikes. A brawler that just loves to fight? instead of locking up with someone maybe go in with a punch! powerhouse monster? show your brute strength by tossing your opponent like a rag doll! Dirty heel coward? Poke eyes, rake backs and just act like a total shitlord! How you wrestle, how you look, will tell the crowd who you are and why they need to take notice of you.

  • Don't expect to become the second coming of the next JOOOOOOOOHN CEEEEEEEEENAAAA!!! Just be as brilliant as you can physically and mentally be. if you're hot shit, people will be climbing over each other to sign you to their promotion. It's best to be humble than to be a total jerkwad who thinks everything should be thrown at your feet. Unless that's your gimmick :p.

I hope these can be helpful for someone :p.

Just something nice I was sent just a couple of minutes again. I think it's pretty useful. ^_^

Think Different

An engineer in a car manufacturing company designs a world class car.

While trying to bring out the car from the manufacturing area to the showroom, they realised that the car is few inches taller than the entrance.

The engineer felt bad that he didn't notice this one before creating the car.

The painter said that they can bring out the car and there will be a few scratches on top of the car which could be touched up later.

The engineer said that they can break the entrance, take the car out, and later re-do it.

A Watchman was observing & remarked "The car is only a few inches taller than the entrance so,
Simply release the air in the tyre, the height of the car will sink and can be easily taken out.

LESSON

Don't see problems from an expert's point of view.
There is always a layman's outlook that gives an alternate solution.

Life issues are also same.

Often, a friend may seem below our stature by few inches, making us seem taller.

Release some air (ego) and adjust the height.

Think Simple

Live Humble

Here's something useful if anyone is a regular Tim Hortons customer ;) refills are cheaper so buy a mug and get refills instead of paying for the cup.
