Unpopular Opinions

There is totally such a thing as objective morality. If the majority of the human race abhors an action, it is very likely that, that action is immoral. This of course assumes that you value the whole of humanitys opinion on the subject of what is moral or not. Discworld has some pretty sick quotage on the subject.

"All right," said Susan. "I'm not stupid. You're saying humans need... fantasies to make life bearable."

REALLY? AS IF IT WAS SOME KIND OF PINK PILL? NO. HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

"They're not the same at all!"

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.

"Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—"

MY POINT EXACTLY."

Watching anime and only anime as your source of culture is intellectual suicide. If you don't expand your horizons to other mediums you are only making yourself human refuse. This also applies to videogames.

I don't know what this Steven universe is but from the musical fight with the black woman about fighting its already upsetting. *WATCHES EPISODE 1 AND 2*. WHAT THE FUCK AM I WATCHING. DOES EVERY EPISODE HAVE MUSIC. DAMN IT.

I hate dogs. No, that isn't right. I hate your dog. No, that's unfair. I hate YOU because you aren't responsible enough to take care of your dog. Most Americans don't train their animals and treat them like decorations. Also small dogs are the devil.

I am TOTALLY OK with anyone who wants to switch their gender, but it's not a healthy way to live. Your body doesn't define you.

The Walking Dead show and Comic are generally inferior to Crossed. I have never read or watched anything recommended by the public that has bored me this much. That being said, I enjoyed the Telltale walking dead games.

All these people who shit on white knights and sjw's and whatever can go fuck off. At least those misguided motherfuckers stand for something. It takes more actual dedication and a sense of justice to go out and express their opinion than these dickbags who are like "HA HA FUCK U, I ONLY HAVE AN OPINION WHEN IT'S SOMETHING I DON'T LIKE!" They're hating shit as perceived injustices, you're hating sjw's for being WRONG.

If someone calls out your joke for being racist/offensive/bigoted, it isn't because they're being too PC. Your joke isn't funny anymore! Black minstrel shows used to be an epitome of comedy for many too, that doesn't mean we're being PC by not finding them funny anymore! Humor is adaptive! If other people aren't finding it funny, you aren't funny! STOP DEMANDING THEY LIGHTEN UP YOU UNFUNNY FUCK.

All internet discussion comes down to shit talking and put downs. That's why "SJW" is a slander term now. Schoolyard bullies on the internet, indeed.

The purpose of life being breeding is insulting and assumes that humans only WANT that. Any want or desire by a person is a meaning of life, there is no definitive.

Romance is pointless if you can't be happy by yourself or with people who are just friends. There is no "better half", there's you and someone you respect. If you can't respect yourself and be happy with yourself, then you aren't ready for and don't need a relationship.

The idea that every idea is worthwhile is the worship of ignorance. If someone who has spent the better part of their life studying history, creating any form of art, or generally investing their energy into their own betterment says something, their opinion is more valid than any contrarian everyman who spends most of their days studying their own navels. You can't do nothing and be someone worth admiring or listening to. Your opinion can be worthless.

Objective morality is a lie we tell ourselves to feel superior to the world around us. If nature is any indication, morality is just a concept by animals which are sufficiently socially advanced as to require it as a survival mechanism. Cursory examination of the evolutionary tracks of various mammals easily confirms this. The idea that we can "objectively" declare anything that is inherently an incorporeal concept is absurd.

I also don't think that anyone should be allowed to tell me what is and isn't funny, who it is I should and shouldn't agree with, what it is I should or shouldn't believe. Let me laugh at whatever I want in peace, and practice my own way of life. If I wanted to engage in episodes with the fun police, I'd go move to Putinland. Thanks.

Perceived injustices and emotions are entirely inferior to cold, hard facts: Logic, and reason. To promote feeling over fact is to invite a dangerous, self-righteous, fundamentalist viper into a bird's nest. If you're surprised with the results, you've obviously not been listening to history.

Any ideology taken to an extreme as to be pushed above the individual rights and freedoms of others is dangerous and delusional, and should be treated as a mental disease: Not as a healthy way of life. I don't care if that ideology is done with the best of intentions: Some of the greatest of human atrocities were committed with the best of intentions.

You can obsess over what your neighbour thinks and believes all day if you'd like. Complaining about it isn't going to change a thing, and if they do not act against you or your way of life, what does it even matter to you? If you wish for the world to love you, then you shall be forever disappointed, friend. :ferret:

Unpopular opinions are just full of pretty much popular opinions or just 50/50 opinions. That doesn't make it unpopular. But hey, they should rename this to "opinions that a few people don't agree with" which is every single opinion in the universe.

Anyway,

I don't care that your mother died. Or that your best friend died. Or millions of people died in some shit in a other part of the world. Why should I? I am me, and if I'm not extremely effected by the death/absence of that person then I don't care. Stop trying to make me trying to care. Go cry someone else.

Just stop complaining about other people beliefs. They're not going to change, your not going to change. It's all a bit pointless. Of course, everyone does that so keep doing it. But make sure you feel a tinge of guilt every time.

  • Tumblr can be good, if you just dig deep enough and avoid things you don't like.
  • The United States of America is in chaos mode, from 'President Trump' to shootings happening every month. This country just needs to have another revolution or civil war. Or the country can become a Democratic socialism.
    • I think that racism and recent events are the major causes.
  • Mass Effect 3's ending was one of my favorites.
    • And the game was good as well.
  • I am loyal to the Templar Order and think that mages should be watched in case they do go rouge.
  • Weed should be legalized.
  • I hate that Donald Trump is winning the GOP.
    • His immigration plan wouldn't work and it is fucking dumb to start off.
    • He is too childish to be a president
    • He will somehow cause World War 3.
  • America is meant to be a placed for immigrates to come to and start over.
    • Hello, have you ever heard of the American Dream?
    • And I like the melting pot of cultures and other things.
  • Some white people do have privilege and they should know about it.
  • I rather spend time with my friends than family.
  • The West Coast is better than the East Coast.
  • We should have more people of color than just white people in movies, shows, games.
  • Sex is disgusting.
  • People should be adopting more.
  • We Bare Bears and Steven Universe are one of the best cartoons out there.
    • But, the fans are annoying as fuck.
  • Fandoms of all kinds are annoying in some shape or form.
  • Everyone should take an arts program.
  • There isn't any good roleplays, that I like, anywhere.

This has been unpopular since Fallout 4 was announced, since people like changing opinions:

Fallout 3 > New Vegas.

Yeah, sure, the story was Generic and Railroaded, but I felt that the atmosphere was so much better. An Abandoned city is much cooler than another shack in the desert. The Metro tunnels were hella creepy, and SUPER MUTANTS!

For example, turning on your blinker is the surest way to make the person in the other lane speed up.
That happened to me last time I drove.
Needed to change lanes, the person sped up instantly.

And then my Mom (passanger at the time) started going "He did that cause you took too long!", completely ignoring (or oblivious) to that the guy had sped up the very second after I turned on the Blinker.

For me this happens so frequently, that I actually slow down in anticipation of them speeding up so that I can get in the spot created by them suddenly speeding up.

Actually, I do this, too, but only because it's sort of how I was taught. @_@ I was told that they'll either slow down to let you get in front of them or they'll speed up so that they're in front of you, and you just have to figure out which one they're going to do and then act accordingly, because either one creates a spot, really.

My Driving School always told me to keep the same speed as traffic as to avoid holding up the road.

Well, I mean, yeah, there's that, but then there's still speeding up or slowing down momentarily in the right situations -- you know, reacting to your surroundings and being alert. That's what I was taught -- don't drive faster/slower than everyone else for the most part but still adjust for whatever's necessary.
