Under a Acid Horizon

"You really haven't heard about companions then," smiling lightly Jaime stepped in with him, the elevator bringing them up to her place without prompting, "or are you more familiar with the term 'escort'?" Lightly leaning against the wall she would've bothered fixing his impression of her if she actually cared. It was mostly true, mostly.

"Believe me," Chase started, his expression suddenly serious, "I know about companions and escorts, far more than you'd think possible. And I'm not exactly prepared to explain that to a woman who has done nothing but snark at me the entire time we've known each other. What I am willing to explain is..." He took a deep breath, "... Kenzie was a companion of sorts, yes, but nothing like you probably understand it. She didn't much choice but to become a prostitute, ou-... Her type rarely gets a choice in anything really. The fact she was able to break out and do something, anything, worthwhile with her life is more a miracle than you could ever know. And while it may not look like it I'm deeply hurt by her death." As if on queue the door opened as her finished his sentence and he walked out, "So which one of these are yours?"

"Hmph," smiling lightly she headed in the familiar direction of her door. Unlocking it she headed on inside, "this one. If you need something to drink then there's juice in the fridge," waving him lightly off she crossed the living room and headed in a door that could be assumed to be her bedroom.

The apartment was sparse, almost empty, with only a large couch and a heavy table in the living room. Blinds covered the windows, leaving the room mostly dark when the lights were off. To the left, in the opposite direction of where Jaime had gone was an open doorway leading into what seemed to be a kitchen that would be just as sparse as the living room. On the right there were two doors, the one Jaime had entered and a second door next to that.

"Still holding on to the boy scout thing are we?" Apples said with a smirk, in truth he wouldn't have minded some juice at the moment, but for the sake of his dignity he decided to ignore the offer and just crashed on the couch instead. Far too casually considering the situation. Not even after a minute of waiting did he get bored and took out his PDA, flicking through an album of self-described 'crazy' cat pictures.

Closing the door behind her she sighed softly, still feeling the edge of the nausea keenly she moved on to the dresser and opened a small drawer. Picking out a small jar she opened it before fishing out one of the small tablets. Swallowing it dry she didn't wait for it to kick in before finding the clothes she knew would help her fit in at a club.
After a few minutes of searching drawers and checking her closet she finally found the needed outfit under the bed. "Finally." Stripping out of her usually protective and rough clothing she didn't bother being vary of the boy scout in the neighboring room. She could always throw one of her knives at him.
Pulling on the mid-thigh midnight blue miniskirt she was relieved it still fit, pausing she remembered to quickly change into a matching underwear set of the same color before putting on a black tank top to fit. "Seriously, it's almost a job getting dressed for a club." Grumbling softly to herself she put on the black, knee-high socks and found shoes that she could at least move freely in.
Mussing up her hair, returning the orange shooting glasses to it's usual place on top of her head to keep her semi-short in place, she was almost ready and on her way out. "Ah, right, just in case." Grabbing with her a jacket in the same color as her skirt, her baton and a necklace with a fake crystal she could finally enter the living room ready to go. "Sorry for the wait." Deciding he deserved at least that trite courtesy she called out to the man laying on her couch.

Jaime's 'apology' roused Chase from his cat induced stupor, prompting to look up. For a moment he sat in stunned silence before nodding, "So it appears there was a woman under there the whole time, truth be told I was starting to have my doubts." He climbed from the couch and gave the woman another look over, "Well it's certainly a better fit than what you were wearing before, maybe a little dark, but hey that's not my position to judge. Although..." He clasped his hands, extending his index fingers together a point, "... Do you really need to be wearing the glasses? You are aware that it is nighttime and we are going indoors? The whole 'wearing sunglasses at night' thing just might attract attention. And as far as I know we want to avoid that."

"I think you're actually outdoing me when it comes to being careful." Smiling lightly Jaime shrugged. "Do you think anyone would think twice over an accessory? Even you mislabeled them as sunglasses." Putting on the necklace and shrugging on the short jacket she walked past Chase and headed towards the kitchen. "Try convincing me why it will stand out, I'm gonna grab a Nutri-Block while you're at it."

"I was doing you a favour mislabeling them, sunglasses just make you look like a bit of a creep. Walking around with shooting glasses on your head makes you look, well, like you're about to shoot someone." he looked to Jaime, half tempted to follow her in the kitchen and take up that offer for juice, but instead opted to wander to the door and wait for his companion to finish stuffing her face. "So, are you up for another ride? Or do you think we should just walk? M&K isn't too far away from here, it'd spare you some grief and possibly the seats in my car."

Getting out an open pack from the kitchen drawer she took only a small chunk and joined over to where he waited. "You know there's been remedies for that for at least a millennium? I'm fine now," popping the chunk into her mouth she chewed quickly before swallowing, not even grimacing at the taste. "Though walking will be better, your AI is either bugged or hacked, but no thief will realize that."
