IC
In New York City 1987, there were 14 children who were chosen at birth to be a part an experiment. This experiment gave them powers over the Elements of Fire, Water, Earth, Metal, Electric, Air, Spirit. Each element had a male and female experiment. The children were locked up and obverse closed off to the rest of the world. The Government later implemented them into a private school, which went horribly leading the school's destruction killing most facility members, but no one knows what happened to the 14 children.

In 2000, the project was rebooted and another 14 children were chosen at birth. The school has been rebuilt, this time, ready to handle and "accidents" that might happen with the children. Now the students are heading to the new building in 2016.

Now the children are being sent to Syria to fight forced by the government.

Name: Nemo Dame
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Elemental Type: Water
Personality:
Nemo is rather compassion and caring about the things he loves. Some of the thing he loves and enjoys reading and just hearing the sounds of nature, especially the ocean waves. He is rather trustworthy and keeps any promises made to him through anyone he trusts. He is usually friendly towards anyone who shows him respect in their conversation. Nemo is a loner and likes to be alone a lot of times, usually being away from a crowd from time to time. Even shooing away even friends if he needs to be alone. While Nemo can be caring and loyal, he can be rather emotional and lash out on people without a second thought. He also doesn't take criticism quite well, feeling like people are berating him for not being perfect in their eyes. Nemo also blames himself for any mistakes that he may have caused, may it be small or very impacting in his life.

During combat, Nemo is closer to a pacifist than most, focusing on disarming or knocking out his foes without needing to bloodshed unless killing someone is the only option he has left or unless ordered to. Nemo is observant mostly in battle, keeping eyes around the area and using tools all around him to distract his foes needed for a successful sneak attack. While Nemo is skillful in battle, he sometimes lets his guard down during important moments in his plans and is not physically strong enough to struggle with someone with strong muscles. Therefore it is important for him to focus on capturing the enemy at the most vulnerable and striking them down when needed.

Name: Daniel Rashaud Corvo

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Elemental Type: Earth

Personality: Smart, ambitious, and hardworking; Daniel is as strong as his element is fearsome. He appears quieter than others. He has a large variety of hobbies and is always aware of what is going on around them. Daniel is an extremely good leader and will not have any trouble getting people on his side when they come up with a new idea. His views are very highly valued as they will usually have something interesting to say. He's very energetic and is often prepared to work long and unsociable hours in order to achieve what he desires. He can sometimes be quite impulsive and does not always consider the consequences that may follow. Daniel has a tendency to live for the moment which again can have consequences that he does not think of. He hates to be kept waiting and becomes very impatient over the smallest of delays. Rashaud holds much faith in his abilities, this can sometimes make them a bit over confident which can sometimes lead him to make bad judgements, this can be a big problem at times but the he has the ability to bounce back and pick up the pieces again.

Though we don't necessarily need them all filled. Maybe some have died in the fighting already?

I'll get my CS up and make the IC then since it was my idea to have them in Syria.

I just reread the plot and I'm confused. Are the children heading to the new private government school to socialize and learn, or are they being shipped off to another country right off the bat?
If it's the former then it should be easy to get the RP started.

The former risks stagnation much more quickly since we'd have to go through a bunch of "GM doing setting exposition while everyone else's posts don't really do anything"

It could be a vague / stereotypical government facility setting. White walls, floors, cameras, large protective fence, etc. It wouldn't have to last long, but it would give time for everyone to introduce themselves. Have a little bit of character development and start to form acquaintances before having to fight together.

If you desire we could start in the felicity then later on moving to Syria for the war.

That's not what I mean. People often take liberties with settings, and I always factor this in. Stagnation comes from uncertainty in the plot itself. Whenever you have a prologue, people can't do anything; or they're afraid to do things, because a prologue must have a very specific chronology. You can't have any deviation in a prologue, and at the same time, deviation is necessary to retain the player's interest. You end up with a scenario in which everyone wants to begin their own subplots, or to contribute to the story, but can't, because it's a prologue.

This is a mistake often made with roleplays and video games alike, and I've been around long enough, in at least 3 RPs at any one time, often many more, to know that it only works in books and other linear stories. In any game that promises the potential for deviation, players need to have the capacity to act on that potential right from square one.

「Name 」 Driscoll Vanadium
「Gender」 Male
「Age」 16
「Elemental Type」 Spirit
「Personality」
  • Quiet and aloof, Driscoll generally keeps to himself, although this isn't always because he chooses to. Only certain kinds of people find company in Driscoll. He's not given over to talking much, even when he's among familiar people or places. On occasion, some event may elicit an energetic response from him - maybe something to do with the laws of the world, or their predicament. Still, there's no better ally to watch your back in a pinch. Driscoll values loyalty and trust very highly, and he doesn't have many people in whom to place such values. He's not always sure of himself, and would rather be commanded by a trusted leader than to take charge himself.
「Background」
  • "Not much worth speaking of. Like the rest of the ones here," Driscoll gestured vaguely toward the bunkhouse, "I came here at birth. We were brought up okay. About as 'normal' a life as anybody could get here, anyway. Oh - it's time for dinner. One of the teachers said there'd be an announcement or something boring like that, so you'd better get going too."

So, did we decide on how we want to start this?

Reasons to start on the battlefield:
- skips the introduction, which could become stagnating
- allows freedom of character action right from the start

Reasons to start in the government facility:
- Allows introductions rather than assuming the characters are already acquainted

So, shall we put this to a vote? All those who want to start on the battlefield say "Battlefield" and all those who want to start in the facility say "Facility" and then I guess we'll go on the larger quantity of votes.
