It is said that brevity is the soul of wit. There is, without a doubt, a time and place for long paragraphs filled with wondrous descriptions. Other times, however, less is more. What can you create from the prompt using only two sentences?

As he strayed further and further from the light, Morgan came to the realization that not everything was white and black. In fact, most of anything was just another shade of grey mascarading as white or black.

" Sullivan, is that yo-", the girl balked at the sight of the pathetic, whimpering dog, looking as if it had come out of the gutter, it's face disfigured, causing her to scream and run away in abject terror.

The dog barked before retching and then, in a fit of habit, scratched at his collar with his hind leg, emblazoned with the sign, " SULLIVAN - MY BEST FRIEND FOREVER."

Maxwell tucked a stray hair behind his exhausted fiancee's ear, where she lay underneath endless sheaves of research and reference papers.

Even in a small, sparse room, in a tiny apartment, in a world that seemed hell-bent against one's very survival - Max knew he'd never been luckier or more happy.
 
It had started with a single stray cat named Lucky that she had fed on a daily basis. Sadly for her, it seemed that Lucky had a ton of friends and now every Friday night, she would bring home fifty bags of cat food to feed the strays of the whole goddamn state.

She saw the headlights of his car finally turn into the driveway and felt relief wash over her, until the stray thoughts came. Where had be been and who was he with all this time?

She was turned away from every door and chased down by stray dogs in the night. The small black alley cat kept trying though....it was her only chance of becoming human again.
 
It wasn't easy being a stray; never knowing where your next meal was coming from or where you were going to sleep that night was exhausting. It was tiring business, and Jeff was growing weary of the daily grind.
 
"Why don't you come in with me?" asked the Labrador to the mutt, standing in the bright beam of light that spilled out of his house and onto them both.

The mutt looked into the house, with its warm comforts, sure food, and strange human softness, and he shook his head in fright, running away with his tail between his legs in shame.
