The coliseum was normally quiet and empty. Not to mention with a nice track that Riley often took advantage of. Sure it was locked up but did that ever stop them? Hardly. It did at first but then they found a door that, while locked, if jiggled right would open up. Cue five minuets of jiggling and about ten minuets of exploring later, Riley soon had another space to take their skateboard out for a few laps. It was a nice way to unwind after a day and just relax. All Riley really did was coast around the coliseum, doing laps as fast as they could safely go while zoning out thinking about this or that or something else. Whatever came to mind really. Though as the weather got colder, their time hiding in the coliseum shortened. Even more so when the sun started to set sooner in the day. Now their skateboarding was done primarily to help them to the main campus building from Ramshackle every day. The classes themselves were alright but much like school from their home world, they were just as boring. But unlike their home world, keeping up with assignments and homework was easier since it was subjects that were actually interesting. Like potion making and magic history. For a magicless visitor, Riley was doing alright.

If someone asked Lilia how he was able to keep up with his duties as vice dorm leader, watching over the Crown Prince of Briar Valley, training Sebek and his son AND keep up with his own academics including club duties, Lilia probably would just shrug and make a comment about how it was just easy. A little easier then being a general and commanding a whole army back in the day but even then, his fellow students didn't know the full extent of Lilia's history despite his face being in a few history text books. Most of the students just assumed it was one of Lilia's ancestors and moved on with their life. That was probably the most amusing part considering Lilia spoke so casually about his own age and history without revealing too much. How would the students feel if they knew someone who was much, much, much older then they were, who had seen the Malleus Draconia hatch from his egg and raise him alongside his own adopted son was amongst them? Not too kindly Lilia imagined but he still found his time at NRC to be quite enjoyable. A school with such a color population from the teachers and staff to the students made him feel like he was young again on so many levels. And yet, despite all that, there was something so oddly familiar about one student. Not so much as Lilia had seen her before but rather, there was something about her that seemed off. Sure there was the other magicless human at the school but her? The one they called Serenity? There was something about her Lilia swore he saw before but couldn't place his finger on. It made her that much more interesting and yet, he heard whispers about her. How "doll like" she was. Curious and curious.

The time since rising from that coffin on the first day of school had given Serenity a lot to think about. (For her to wake in a coffin, of all things... The irony felt intentional, as if fate itself was mocking her.) For a while, her mind was in somewhat of a daze, a miasma of confusion plaguing every thought. Only now was her mind gaining any semblance of clarity, though she was still plagued with pandora's boxes and disorienting dreams, questions she wasn't sure whether or not she should contemplate. Every morning, she would stare into her mirror and wonder. The body she was inhabiting was made of flesh and blood, and shared everything with Serenity Price, down to the placement of the smallest freckle. In some life running parallel to this one, this same flesh and blood was splattered on the concrete near her apartment building. Serenity is dead, and yet here was this girl with the same face, the same mind, the same memories, who had arisen from a coffin in a school for mages and now walked among them. Her existence here was an impossibility, in every way. She was called here for a reason, she knew this. She couldn't explain how she knew, but she could feel it written into her soul, carved into her bones. Regardless, there were grander forces at work here, and it seemed they wouldn't be done with her anytime soon. All she could do now was allow fate to guide her through this strange new world. What other choice did she have? She sighed, shaking the thoughts from her mind as she turned her attention back to the book sitting in front of her -- even if he couldn't take her head, she knew there would still be consequences if Riddle found her zoning out when she was supposed to be studying. Even if she could find all the answers, she wouldn't be able to do it in the middle of a Wednesday in the library. She was on babysitting duty for Grim -- given what a handful he was, she and Riley decided early on that they should take turns, to preserve what little remained of their sanity -- so of course she had to shush his whining every now and then. "Grim, we're in the library. Keep it down. If you get us in trouble, I'm not bailing you out." She glared harshly at the furball beside her. Even though he & Riley were the closest thing to an actual family she had in this world, dealing with Grim always caused stress she certainly didn't need. If she didn't know better, she would think he was actively trying to make the lives of everyone around him worse.

Though he could tell you the month and season, the days and weeks swirled into a melting pot of nothingness. The only reason Leona knew the date was because he had been counting down the days until they were finally let out for winter break. One would think that someone as lazy as him would be looking forward to it, but why? Why would he look forward to something he already does every day? If anything, he was dreading the trip home -- seeing his home, his family... It would always be a harsh reminder of everything he's always wanted but would never get, everything that made him this way in the first place. The family that lived by a hierarchy that cursed him from the moment of his birth, the home he'd never rule, all because he had the audacity to be born the second son... What did he have to look forward to about going home? What did he have to look forward to in this miserable life? Everyone bemoaned about how much he could do if he simply applied himself more, but what would the point be? Sure, he could put in the effort, but even that didn't guarantee anything. No matter how hard he worked to earn his place in the world, there would always be those who were handed it on a silver platter simply because it was their birthright. Fuck that. Life was a rigged carnival game, and he knew better than to waste precious resources trying to play by their rules. He frowned, pushing those thoughts from his mind before he could spiral further. Memories of his overblot were still fresh in his mind, after all, and in spite of it all he didn't actually have a death wish. He wasn't sure if it was fortunate or not, when he heard the nearby sound of a skateboard wheeling about the colloseum. It was right after school and the science club was at work in the greenhouse, so he had come here in hopes that he could get some peace in the bleachers. So much for that. Well, Ruggie should be arriving with his dinner any minute now, so he figured it wouldn't be long until someone woke him up anyway. Still, he also didn't care enough to make his presence known. "Oh, hey! You here skatin' again today? You really oughta teach me some moves one day!" A familiar voice greeted them. He sighed, finally rising from the floor he was sleeping on. "Oi, over here! You get everythin' I asked for?" He didn't acknowledge Riley's presence, knowing they'd probably bug him now that they knew he was here anyway. "'Course I did! Would I ever fail you?" It was true; even if he had to resort to some underhanded tactics, Ruggie always delivered precisely what was asked of him.

// sorry for responding to this first; i kinda came to the conclusion that i'm probably going to struggle to roleplay anything else until i've gotten this particular itch scratched. >.>;; i'll get to the bnha one asap! i'm a little behind on the anime so i'll probably have more of a desire to write for it once i'm caught up.

It felt weird in a way; not being able to go home for the holidays. Riley had an okay relationship with their parents, but after having gotten sent to this world by unknown forces for unknown reasons, they had no where else to really go. They had Serenity and Grim and those two were quickly becoming like a family to the skater alongside the dumbass duo of Ace and Deuce. But beyond that, their actual family was elsewhere in a whole other world. In a way, Riley did feel the stings of reality reminding them of this fact but the sting of the cold air hitting them in the face as they worked around the coliseum for the nth time was a good distraction. Feels like it might snow soon. Won't be able to skate once it does. Riley thought as they glanced up at the sky, staring at the grey cloud looming overhead. At least the weather wasn't any different on Sage Island then it was back home. Riley wasn't in favor of any of the four seasons, though they did enjoy summer a bit more since it was perfect weather for skateboarding, playing sports and just being outside and relaxing. They were dragged out of their daydream of warm summer weather down at their local skatepark when they heard a familiar voice. Quickly, they lifted one foot off of the board and carefully started using it as a break to slow down, finally coming to a stop as they eyed one Ruggie Bucchi. Now Riley was still getting used to how the Savannaclaw crew functioned, especially after their dorm leader overblotted, but one thing was pretty clear; where Ruggie was, Leona wasn't too far behind. But overall, Ruggie was actually a chill guy in their eyes. "Can't promise I'm a good teacher but yeah." Riley nodded in agreement, always down to teach someone how to skateboard. "What about you Leona? Wanna learn how to skateboard too?" They went on, smirking a bit at the idea of Leona on a skateboard. In a way, it suited the lion.

Grim was infamous at the school now. Along with his two magicless 'henchmen' as he called both Riley and Serenity. And while Lilia himself hadn't interacted with the two of them much, the three of them were still the talk of the school. Everywhere Lilia went, someone was whispering about one of them or all three of them and every so often, Lilia couldn't help but listen in. Though, to be in the library the same time Serenity and Grim was truly a gift of sorts. Granted, the poor girl was trying her damnest to study by the looks of it while Grim clearly wanted to do anything but studying. Good on Serenity but anyone with eyes could see the grey furball was giving her sanity a run for it's money. Lilia wasn't in the library to study though, but more so to read and pick up a few more books to enjoy. While the library at the school was vast and full of books the library in the castle back in Briar Valley didn't have, it wasn't as big as the castle's. But it was quaint, comfortable and quiet when furballs and his poor human wasn't around. But kudos to Serenity for trying to keep Grim under control. It was probably while Lilia situated himself behind a few shelves, floating in the air with a book in his hands 'reading' as he listened to the duo. Though after a short while, it became pretty clear the stress from Grim was going to start giving Serenity early grey hairs if someone didn't step in soon. Especially if the glare Lilia saw Serenity give Grim after he placed two feet on the ground and walked over was anything to go by. "Pardon for the interruption. You're Serenity right?" Lilia asked, promptly both ignoring and brushing off the startled yelp Grim gave which was followed by the whole 'don't go sneaking up on people' that the bat fae had heard over and over again after startling someone. Though, it always seemed to be the freshmen that gave that speech rather then any other student. Mostly likely because they were all used to it after their first year at NRC. Regardless of who said it and when, Lilia had heard it over and over again and hardly paid any attention to it anymore.

//No worries! You just remember to take care of yourself first and foremost!

If the fae had been hoping for a more interesting reaction from Serenity, he was bound to be disappointed. She didn't jolt, didn't yell in surprise; but even the things she doesn't do are with intent, and Serenity is always so guarded, so ready to run, to scream, to bleed, to die. Even if she wasn't surrounded by people who loved to constantly remind her of her magical ineptitude and the consequential uselessness of her existence, she knew that she needed to work harder than most just to survive here. No one was more aware of this than her. Call it fate, call it magic, call it the short fucking straw, but she knew she wouldn't die here. Whatever forces brought her here have assured her that somehow, she would survive whatever this new life had to throw at her. Still, that didn't mean anything else was guaranteed. This world might not kill her, but it could easily do so much worse. All this meant was that she couldn't fully rely on anything to save her, not even death. She blinks at the boy, a strange, pensive expression on her face, before ultimately nodding. "Most people just call me Ren, though." Though she remained excellently composed, anxiety flooded the pit of her stomach in spite of herself. She was well aware of the reputation she and her fellow Ramshackle students had earned, and the attention that was on them as a result. There was no way to know the intentions of those who chose to approach her, what they could possibly want. This boy, one among many... He could be just a harmless, curious stranger or her new worst nightmare for this particular week. Something told her she'd find out soon enough.

Leona scoffed, his already foul mood soured further by the mere notion of social interaction. Still, he should be grateful that they came around to wake him up; the bite of winter air stung his skin. In hindsight, falling asleep outside in the middle of winter probably wasn't the wisest move. Three years at this school and he still wasn't fully used to the changing of the seasons. Sunset Savanna was a place of perpetual summer; he didn't have to worry about much when falling asleep outside, no matter the time of year. He'd have to continue his nap at his dorm, unless he wanted to risk dying of hypothermia. "Tch, yeah right," He scoffed at their suggestion. "Beastmen are already fast enough on foot; why would I need some measly piece of wood on wheels to get around? I'll have to pass." Plus, he was a mage; he could fucking fly. Anything they could do on a skateboard, he could do all of that and more on a broom, if he wanted to. (He doesn't. Still, it's a matter of principle.) His ears tucked back, as if pissed by Riley's mere presence. "Why're you here all by yourself, anyway? Shouldn't you be off somewhere causing problems with all the other little herbivores?" He asked as he opened up the bag Ruggie gave him, taking a bite of his sandwich. Not that he really cared why they were here; just that their presence had rudely interrupted his nap. Anyone who knew the lazy lion knew that he never took kindly to people interrupting him when he was trying to sleep. Never mind that Ruggie was about to wake him up anyway; all that mattered to him was that they woke him up, and he took it as a personal offense.
