Phil didn't know what the other had meant by avoiding an awful situation but he just nodded. When the other asked if they should turn off the movie Phil said, "yeah we probably should." Phil was worried though about whatever his "sister" had planned. It most likely involved the other female members of the family which he didn't like. He decided though he would only stay for a few minutes if he wasn't having fun. Mumbling outloud mostly to himself he said, "if it is dumb I'm only staying for a few minutes."

"Alright, just wait one minute then," Jason said, turning off the television and then flipping the switch that caused the electricity to surge through it. "There's just something I need to do real quick." Like three seconds quick. He moved over to Randy's room and left his gift just by the door, before lighting it with a safety match, and shutting the door. When his unfair brother came home, his bedroom would really smell.

With that lovely thought, Jason progressed back to his own bedroom, stuffing on his shoes and waiting for Phil to be ready, before sliding his hand into Phil's. "Come on then. If you don't like it, we'll just go." He hoped Phil would like it, especially since Daisy invited them and he had such a good relationship with her. He guided him downstairs, back into the kitchen. Hello, Jason signed. He'd just missed Ashley's question, but luckily hadn't missed the expedition. Unluckily, Daisy seemed to have invited the whole house. Jack, Randy, Scarlet, Dante... but he was only truly on bad terms with Randy, though he wasn't sure what Dante thought of him, or Jack really... still, this was just for fun, and he'd probably end up having to leave with Phil anyway.

At this point, they were walking to their destination. What had she found? A rabbit hole? A baby animal? A river you could fish in? Who knew, but Jason waited in anticipation to find out, walking at the back of the group and being very careful to not let him and Phil get lost.

Daisy nodded slowly. She followed the group out, wriggling her bare toes in the grass as she walked. She at first was confused as to why not everyone could come, but forgot pretty quickly and was soon bouncing around happily waiting for them to get there. She felt her camera bumping around in her pocket and her water bottle bounced against her side.

I think it's a.... Daisy signed trailing off as she thought, what could it be? Maybe some pretty flowers? A stream? She stared at the clouds and looked around as she danced along the grass. Stream? she asked finishing her sign. She took a deep breath taking in all the smells of the outside. It smelt so fresh and comforting to Daisy. The sun was up a good ways and it was cool out, but still nice.

When will we get there? Daisy signed.

Phil smiled when the older male grasped his hand. Frowning when he saw the whole house seemed to be there he stayed as close to Jason as possible. He didn't want to be here, he wanted to grab Jason and lock himself in his room and play with Jason...he knew though that Jason wanted to stay so he sucked it up and decided he would stay until it became unbearable. So far it wasn't too bad he and Jason staying close to the back of the group staying away from the majority or the group...just like he wanted

"Do you want a piggy back?" Jason asked quietly, so the others couldn't hear, wondering if possibly that would make Phil enjoy it more. He couldn't be too sure but that was his best bet. His brother didn't seem to be enjoying himself at all. Jason couldn't be sure why, but maybe he was just bored. He stayed at the back, he'd feel trapped in the middle and Jason knew Phil would be just as uncomfortable. He kept hold of the small boy's hand at least till he had a reason to not do otherwise.

Jack looked down at the plate Scarlet set in front of him. It looked good, and the smell that had been wafting through the air for the past few minutes enhanced his thoughts on how good it would taste. As much as he wanted to eat he had not even picked up his fork when words drifted into his ears that caused him the grip the edge of his chair, nails leaving indents in the furniture. Jack Jack was one name he hated, but tack Little onto it and it became worse than hundreds of mosquitoes vying for blood. All those little legs crawling up a body would be enough to drive a person mad. The madness allowed a second of anger to flash across his face before going back to normal. Like the anger, this neutral facade only had a second more of life before Randy's words caused him to twist it into something else.

The corner of the right side of his lip rose with amusement. Shut up or keep his head? Randy could not make him lose it if he tried, the fool. All the older boy was doing was asking for something bad to happen. Jack believed he could cause harm to Randy in so many ways, but Randy harming him? The thought was laughable. Even when Randy wrapped a hand around Scarlet's throat, the thought that it could have been him instead of Scarlet never crossed his mind. Instead he watched with a strange fascination: the same way one would read a much anticipated role play reply. Like all 'good' things, it came to an end far too quickly.

When Randy left he continued to watch Scarlet for a few seconds more before turning his attention to his food. Picking up his fork he pushed the egg around his plate. He didn't plan on going with the others, but what about Scarlet? He gave his sister a concerned look. "You should probably go if you want to see the surprise. Thank you for the food." With a small smile he began to eat.

Three days after the Ellington kids witnessed the spectacular butterfly meadow, they were crushed with one devastating loss and two more subsequent losses. Robert Ellington's company was raided by the IRS due to failing several audits and due to the fact that some funds were 'misplaced'. He swore up and down that he wasn't the one embezzling but because he was in charge, he got the brunt of the punishment which was for him to resign and let the chair council choose a new CEO. So he lost his job, and because she couldn't keep the family afloat from just book royalties, Angelica had to rejoin the public workforce and abandon her writing dream. However after several failed attempts and the fear of having the kids taken away due to lack of funds looming, Angelica had to swallow her pride and ask her dirty politician father to pull some strings. Doing this caused a rift between Robert and Angelica even though she knew that his termination wasn't his fault but she didn't like owing anything to her father, and so her general disposition shifted a little. She and Robert started getting into fights at the drop of a hat and often went hours then days without speaking to one another. The final blow was cast when Robert, feeling bad for himself about not having a job anymore, took charge when Zuri and Max approached him with papers he needed to sign to allow them to go on their respective trips. When Angelica found out, she was enraged and devastated because she wanted to keep all the kids close during that time, but with the papers already signed, Angelica didn't want to be the wet blanket and let them go. In a time when it seemed like everything was just falling apart, Angelica and Robert got into what would be known simply as 'The Fight' and two weeks later divorce papers were signed and Robert moved back to New York. The two were granted joint custody of the children, but since Angelica kept the house, they would stay with her during the school year and stay with Robert for the holidays and breaks after he got a suitable living space that wasn't a tiny apartment.

"Everybody in the van now, please or you'll be staying at home with Gretchen the babysitter obsessed with "Frozen"! So unless you want to be singing all of "Let it go" in your sleep, I suggest you get a move on!" Angelica called through the house, as she double checked her purse to make sure everything was there. The Ellington family were going on a road trip to pick up Angelica's nine year old niece, Delilah from the O'Hare International Airport, because she'd caused so much trouble on board that they 'removed' her from the plane and called Angelica to pick her up. And Angelica would have just flown there but she figured due to the...Recent events, it would do the family good to have some quality time in an SUV for nineteen hours. Then they were going to pick up the kid that Angelica and Robert had agreed to foster before they realized they disliked each other. The girl, Tymber was at the courthouse in St. Louis, so overall the trip would be...Exhausting...ly fun.

"Last call! I have Gretchen on speed dial!" Angelica yelled over her shoulder as she walked out to the van. The back was loaded with containers and coolers with snacks, water and first aid kits, and a few personal belongings which would hopefully sustain the Ellington clan and if not well...Angelica was living on a Chief of Surgeon's salary now, so she was all set, as much as she hated to admit it.

Getting inside, Angelica situated herself, checking the mirrors, grinning at Ashley who had gotten into the van before even she had, and making sure everything was working in the van.

Jason's Room > Van

The last two months had been hard for Jason. It had made him so sad, he hadn't even wanted to play football at first. Instead, he moped around for the first few days after the divorce. It had sucked. He'd been talking excessively with his biological father, who luckily had lots of time in prison and had got to send letters back due to good behaviour, because Jason really needed something to fill the gap with the fact that his second father was also out of the picture, since Jason didn't want his mum to feel like he cared about Robert more than her, he had stayed with her (and besides, he'd miss everyone). It was painful to see Zuri and Max go also. He wished Randy would find something and leave too. Jason hadn't made any presents for him over time, but he was sure that he would again. Next time, he decided that a fanta can was the best option.

At this moment in time, Jason was back to his normal self, if a little annoyed at the fact they divorced and that he had to live through The Screaming Days 2.0, which just made him feel a little dark. Today he was feeling a little pessimistic. He could hear his mum shouting, but he hesitated for a little bit, wanting to at least be alone with his thoughts for a little bit. He took a deep breath, and pulled his grey hoodie over his head, slipping his hands into his pocket. He should have been able to deal with this divorce better, considering the fact that he abandoned his first family practically, but he was really missing Robert and honestly, he hoped that this would all blow over and Angelica and Robert would come to their senses. Perhaps the road trip would make him feel better.

It was when he was told that the babysitter, Gretchen, was on speed dial that Jason stopped dawdling and ran as fast as he could down the stairs. No way whatsoever was he going to be left with that Frozen-loving loser. He wished Prince Hans would have just killed the sisters so they couldn't sing so much. (If he'd just killed Elsa at the ice palace, Jason's ears could have been saved from at least one song). If he had to watch that film again, Jason was going to be traumatised. He ran right through the front door and climbed into the van, sitting at the back with a scowl. "Please don't call her," he frowned, before giving his usual everyday smile, feeling a lot better after having time to reflect on the situation at hand. He wondered who he was going to be sitting with. It was likely to be one of the younger ones, but Jason wasn't fussy, as long as they weren't travel sick. "How long will this trip take?" He didn't know if Angelica had already mentioned the time limit. If she had, it was likely to have been ignored by Jason. How quick does someone die in a car accident? he thought, looking at the seats either side of him, and hurriedly grabbing his seatbelt and strapping himself in.

Fashion: Daisy's Travel Clothes

Daisy had been uncommonly sad since the divorce. She'd been feeling extremely stressed which meant she'd been forgetting things easier and throwing more tantrums than normal. She'd been acting up in school and her doctors had suggested putting her on a mood stabilizer. After her father left she'd become even less happy and her nightmares had become more vivid and she'd become even more unstable emotionally. She'd started taking the mood stabilizer with her morning meds about a month ago.

Daisy sat in her room strapping the velcro on her shoes. She grabbed her backpack when she heard her mom yelling and raced downstairs. In her backpack was some stuff to amuse her during the trip including her camera, some crayons colored pencils, coloring books, and her little kindle that had some games and all her audio books on it. She also had her clothes and toiletries in it since it was a short trip she didn't need a suitcase.

The young girl hurried outside and climbed into the van. She was in a happy mood right now and was smiling brightly. This road trip was exciting for her. She went and sat in the back row next to the window on the passenger side.

Daisy got into her seat. While she was under the height and weight she was supposed to be to be out of a car seat she was over the age so the Ellington's let her sit without a car seat or even a booster seat. She hated being restrained and had panicked when they'd tried putting her in a car seat the day they'd first picked her up.

Daisy didn't buckle up, she just sat and swung her legs waiting to go. She had her backpack under her seat ready for her to pull out if needed. She hadn't eaten this morning yet because she had to wait an hour after taking her Dramamine this morning. Daisy would get car-sick especially on long car ride, but if she took her meds she would normally be OK. She also had both peppermints and ginger candies in her backpack incase she felt ill. "I'm not going to wear them!" Tym said firmly throwing the pack of girls' underwear back at one of the home workers. Tym had some clothes from her last home and so far had refused anything the home had offered her.

"Tymber, they're just underwear. Nobody sees them and you need some. You've been living off two pair!" the lady snapped at the stubborn child tossing the pack back.

"No! They look dumb and aren't comfortable." Tym argued refusing to pick up the bag.

"Their looks don't matter, nobody sees them! Just put them in your bag and get ready to go." the adult insisted.

"I know how they look. I told you I don't want girls underwear. It's stupid and gives you a flipping wedgie to easy!" Tym retorted.

"You're a girl! You can't go on wearing boys clothes. Are you trans?" the worker asked not exactly nicely.

"No! Why do I have to be trans to wear comfortable clothes?" Tym snapped incredulous. She was in a bad mood. She hadn't slept well and this lady worker was annoying her. Why was it her problem what she, Tym, wore? She was leaving today anyway!

"Child, we are trying to give you some clothes so your new fmaily doesn't have to buy everything for you!" the worker said, starting to wear down. She sighed and looked at the time. She didn't have time for this.

"You know what fine. If you want to live off two outfits becuase you won't wear what's given you that's your choice. Now go brush your teeth and get ready to leave. Thank the LORD we're rid of you today!" the worker snapped turning and leaving.

Tym watched the worker leave and then grabbed her plastic Wal*Mart bag that held all her stuff. She went to the bathroom to clean up. She was smiling a little now. She'd won! She'd won the argument!

Tym started to brush her teeth. Most of the other girls were down in the rec room. There were a few others going with Tym to the courthouse where their new families would pick them up. Spitting she put her toiletries in her bag and grabbed her tiny bottle of hair gel that Danni had given her. Tym started carefully fixing her hair which was a bit messy right now. [/fieldbox]

Dante Chrismond:
Dante sat in her bedroom gathering a last few needed essentials. Wrapping up a pair of headphones she slid them into her pocket. She went over to her dresser and grabbed her solar universal charger, and threw it in her bag. She looked down, "Really?!" Her shoe laces had come undone, she absolutely hated it. Hearing the matriarch of the house call with a followed pounding of footsteps. She kneeled down down and quickly tied her laces. She made sure everyone of her essentials were in her bag along with few extra pairs of clothes. Finally deciding she had every necessity.

Dante walked down the stairs of the house and out the front door. Her bag in her hand, "Do you really trust her coming over in the first place?" She asked to her adoptive mother as she climbed into the van. She saw Daisy and Jason in the back where she usually sat, her seat in the middle left untouched. "So, you two going to be joining me back here?" She asked the two taking the middle seat, and buckling in, sitting her bag on the ground in front of her.

Phil was not happy about this trip, but then again he wasn't very happy about anything anymore. He had started to warm up to Robert and things had been starting to go well...and then Angelica had divorced Robert. He completely blamed his "mother" for the whole thing. This only reinforced his hatred of women, they were all stupid. He wanted to go live with Robert but he wasn't allowed to, plus that would mean leaving Jason...and Phil wouldn't do that.

Once outside he quickly went to the van and saw Jason was already in it. Sitting next to him on his other side the window he buckled himself up and mumbled to Jason, "hi." He normally was very friendly with Jadon but today he just couldn't muster being friendly to anyone. He knew it wasn't right but there were a lot of things wrong with him as well as in his opinion this "family".

The whole arguing and divorcing shebang hadn't really sat well with Randy. Some might say the being angry and yelling thing kind of brought back memories that he'd rather bury somewhere deep at the back of his mind. He was skittish around Angelica when she seemed to be a perfect loving mother so it goes without saying that he kept as far away from his 'parents' as he possibly could when they were having any sort of fight. The whole atmosphere in the house had seemed to change and Randy didn't like it one bit. So he had basically barricaded himself into his room, only coming out when he had to. Jason had stopped sneaking stink bombs into his room though, so at least something good had come out of the drama.

As the threat of Gretchen the Frozen maniac echoed through the house, Randy groaned in protest in his room. "Oh, come ooooon. I'm a grown man dammit, I can't be threatened with babysitters." Not that there was anyone to hear his whining, it just made him feel slightly better. As the seconds ticked by, Randy seriously considered enduring the horrors of Frozen but as the 'last call' reached his ears, he decided that the little family trip was the lesser of two evils. Slipping into his trusty leather jacket, the lad grabbed his backpack where he had stuffed some clothes and few necessities and began heading out. Just as he got the door to his room open, Randy suddenly stopped and turned to look at his old stupid stuffed bunny on his desk with a frown. He seemed to contemplate something for few seconds before stepping out of his room and closing the door behind himself.

It didn't take Randy too long to drag his ass outside but he sure as hell wasn't dashing over to the hideous van in utter joy either. "Ugh, I swear that car gets uglier every time I see it. I'm so gonna die of embarrassment and sweet death shall release me from this nightmarish journey," the lad complained dramatically as he grumpily approached the vehicle of doom. Randy crossed his arms in defiance after climbing into the car and slouching down on the seat behind the passenger seat. He was hell bent on not enjoying anything the little trip had to offer him.

Ashley had gotten into the car earlier and was sitting in the second to last row just behind the Randy's seat but in front of Daisy. She was holding a scrapbook stuffed with information on the states they would be passing through and what she wanted to see.

The divorce had been hard on her, she had always believed her parents were perfect together and honestly them splitting up never occurred to her. Divorce wasn't a real thing in her world and now that it was, she didn't know what to do. Being younger, she didn't know the entire story but she couldn't help but be angry with her mom. Why couldn't she have let dad stay? Why couldn't they just have separate rooms! Why couldn't they just work it out?! During the time that the divorce was being finalized, Ashley had been a little ball of bitterness and had mutated into some sort of Tarzan/rogue thing. She'd started sneaking out of the house in the morning, without leaving notes and she'd even stopped signing for a little while in favor of being very vocal and generally incoherent. But after the passing of time, she slowly mellowed out into her usual self, save for the fact that she still wandered off alone sometimes and when she spotted her mother or siblings looking for her, sometimes she wouldn't come out on purpose.

Excited about her landmark scrapbook, Ashley unclasped her seat belt and turned around to look at Dante and Jason. She grinned excitedly at Daisy and cast Phil a quick glance of acknowledgment. She had finally realized that Phil was never going to be her friend or even nice to her, so she resorted to ignoring him for the most part.

Do you think we'll get to see the Soudan Underground Mine? Or the Fiberglass Mold Graveyard? Ooh or Chatty Belle?! For the words and names she had no signs for she just pointed at the picture in the book. She had spent all of last week putting the book together and she really hoped she'd get to see at least five of the things on her list of 50 landmarks and attractions.

"I guess," Jason shrugged when Dante slipped into the seat by the left of him. He spent a few moments looking at her bag, wondering what was in it. "What are you bringing?" he questioned, finding a way to add conversation. He didn't like the idea of being stuck in silence. Luckily, just as he thought this, Phil came to him from the other side and murmured hi. "Hey," he mumbled back, feeling quite unprepared. He hadn't brought very much to entertain himself, as he hadn't got anything worth being in the car. His birthday had been after the divorce, and he'd obtained things for his chemistry set and a pocket notebook and pen that he used to write letters, that was slipped inside his hoodie pockets.

He turned to look at Phil, smiling gently. His little brother didn't look very happy either, and Jason was feeling quite compressed in the car despite the fact it didn't even have everybody in it yet. He was a very 'are we there yet' person when it came to the car. Then he remembered his mum still hasn't answered his question and turned to stare at her till she told him how long it would take.

At that moment, Randy slipped into just behind the passenger seat. The sight of the older boy - man - made Jason smirk. Removing his little notebook and pen from his pocket, he decided to write a to-do list on his first page.

1. Drinc Fanta and saev the can.
2. Make a Stink bomb with my Fanta can.
3. Give it too randy.

He wrote slowly and with bad spelling and grammar considering he was sixteen years old. His left hand held the pen uncomfortably and when he had done, he reattached the cap and slipped both book and writing device into his pocket again, and looked back up to his mum, to instead see Ashley's face watching them again, pointing at pictures and signing excitedly and quickly. He nodded, remembering that Ashley tended to sometimes look quite confused when he signed to her. 'Maybe.' He used as short an answer as possible.

Jack took his time getting ready for the trip. Unlike with everyone else, the divorce had not bothered him. First the yelling, then the sadness and, in Ashley's case, rebellion. It was enjoyable to watch. He had went about his normal routine, and thanks to those around him had learned more about sadness and other emotions that went with it. The big thing he learned was how much of a weakness it was. How could one become great if something as meaningless as a divorce sent them into a spiral of emotions and made it so they could not go about their lives? One could not, and that is why he was going to become great. Those emotions would never hold him back from doing what needed to be done.

Feeling satisfied with his reasoning, Jack changed into a white tee shirt and blue jeans. Wearing nice clothes on a road trip was the same as begging for them to get ruined, but having to have something he put on a black vest. Angelica had called out a few minutes ago, so he figured he better get going before he was stuck with Gretchen. If he had to listen to 'Let it go' even once someone would be letting go of their thread on life. Grabbing the bag he had packed earlier with a couple changes of clothes and a small notebook he made his way towards the van, stopping once to grab a deck of cards.

Slipping the deck into his vest pocket he hopped in the van and sat in the seat behind the driver seat, thankful that he might get a row to himself. Jack sat up straight, closed his eyes, and waited for the van to get moving. It was going to be a long, boring trip.

Daisy started to feel squished when Dante and Philip joined them in the back row. There were 5 open seats, why was everyone cramming back here! Daisy grabbed her bag and moved to the seat right across the aisle from Ashley and shoved her bag under the seat. She leaned over and looked at Ashley's cook book happily. All the places looked amazing! Daisy couldn't read the titles of the places, but the pictures were beautiful and mesmerized her. She grinned and pulled her camera out of her bag holding it up to show Ashley,

I brought my camera. We can make a scrapbook of our own adventures. With our own pictures. she signed to her sister. While Daisy's art skills weren't the best she would enjoy doing pretty much anything as long as someone did it with her. Scraping booking their adventures sounded like fun.

We can get ourselves a new book and stickers and stuff. she added cheerily. These days Daisy was OK as long as she was distracted from her own thoughts. She spent a lot more time in her garden and cooking. She would forget her normal routine very easily, but could somehow remember to water her flowers and plants.

Daisy put her camera back into her bag and zipped it up carefully. She looked at Ashley and realized she wasn't buckled. She started to try and buckle herself up, though was having trouble getting the buckle clipped. [/fieldbox]

★Scarlet Ellington★

Two months prior, Scarlet was a mess, it was like she was going through the divorce her parents had been through. Scarlet, being the more responsible child of the bunch, when her parents would fight, she would try and take care of the kids, even when they acted out because of the fighting. She never got a chance to actually let everything hit her, until yesterday... when she bawled her eyes out. Scarlet had cried all night, she hated seeing people fight and her abandonment issues surfaced tenfold, she cursed her mother and father out, yelling and screaming at how they didn't love anyone at all. She hates both of parents right about now, she had been in her room that whole day and this morning. Scarlet was sitting at her mirror, just staring at herself for a minute, before she heard her "mother's" warnings. Rolling her eyes, she placed on her heart shaped choker necklace and heels, before walking out of her room.

Before going towards the van, Scarlet grabbed a few more things that she left in the living room. Unlike the others, Scarlet wasn't bringing a bag, she was bringing a suitcase filled with stuff she thought she would need, and it wasn't going to be THAT long of a trip, but she didn't care. Going to the back of the van, her heels clicking on the ground, she opened the back of the van, placing her bag on top of the cooler, before slamming the door shut. With a few more clicks of her heels, Scarlet got in the Passenger Seat of the van, the spot that was usually where her mother sat when her father drove, guess it was her seat now, she didn't even look towards her "mother".

Not paying attention to the others in the van, she closed the door after she got in. After she buckled her seat belt, she plugged her Beats Headphones in and turned on her phone and started playing her favorite new song. She closed her eyes, letting the music take her away, humming along with the lyrics. Scarlet had been a tad bit bitchier than normal after the whole divorce was finalized, she blamed both of parents, even if she still got to see them both... they still abandoned her in a way, and she would never forgive either one of them for that. "Climb on board, we'll go slow and high tempo." She started singing the song, blocking everything else out. "Yeah, Reckless Behavior!" Her voice was filled with annoyance and everyone could hear how mad she was about the situation her parents put everyone in, this was going to be one long trip... for sure.

Deciding that he van was too crowded in the back she decided to go sit in the seat across from randy, bringing her bag with her. Dante took out her drawing pad and decided to finish her characters for a graphic novel she was writing. Flipping through a few pages of already finished characters she landed on an unfinished one. Taking the mechanical pencil out of her pocket she began to sketch and erase, rinse and repeat. To help her think she plugged in her MP3 and slid the earbuds into her ears. She was listening to a mix that she had made just before this trip. She began to sing along in her thought while she drew, lipping the words every so often. Angelica knew that most of her kids were upset with her, and she allowed that because they were too young to understand that in situations like this, the blame lies on both parties heads. She just hoped that at some point, they would learn to forgive her, if not understand why this had happened. But for now, she would make the best of a bad situation. "Alrightie, everybody! Big kiddoes I need you to check on the little ones, and make sure they're all strapped in! And the trip will take up most of the day and night, but we'll have plenty of rest stops," she paused to look back at Daisy and Ashley, "and we'll have a chance to check out some of the attractions and interesting landmarks!"

She slowly pulled out of the driveway, and headed towards the park exit. "So, what's everyone looking forward to, hm? The motels? The landmarks? Your cousin or maybe Tym, your new sibling?" She asked, hoping to engage everyone in a relatively safe topic of conversation.

Jason Morris-Ellington
The Van

Jason wasn't too mad at his mum alone. He understood that things happened, but he still hoped that there was even the slightest chance they could be together again, and go back to their big happy family. At Angelina's first section of speech, Jason turned first to Phil, and realised he was already buckled, before realising Daisy was having trouble. He unstrapped himself and went to her and asked her, "Do you want some help?" with a smile, that, mixed with his current dark mood, didn't really look like his usual one, a bit harsher, and partially forced. Still, he wanted to be nice.
Unfortanutely, Jason was not ready to be told the time period. Even with rests, the day and night made Jason feel nervous, and he was glad he wasn't buckled in. He wasn't travel sick but he didn't know if he'd be able to cope with the journey considering he knew how trapped he'd feel after a while.

After he'd done all he decided was necessary, Jason sat back down next to Phil and redid his seatbelt, clearly more anxious than before he was told how long it would take. Don't be silly, Jace, he thought to himself, Mum'll let you get out. She's not going to trap you. The van began to move, and Angelica asked another question. "What's the cousin like?" he asked, not sure he could be excited to meet him or her if he didn't know what they were like. He put his head in his hands, looking down at his feet and shifting his right foot from left to right.
